hmm thats very weird. Maybe that isnt the official harry potter legos and they can't use some of those names because they are patented..i dont know really
Louise
I don't know why they've called the character that, but it's definitely Mad-Eye - as the news posted on the main site the other day said.

In order to widen the discussions here to include all pictures of Moody that will be released, I'm going to change the title of the topic.

EDIT : Here you go....the link to the sticker being auctioned on eBay that was posted on the news the other day with what is possibly the first image of Mad-Eye.

I've already had a giggle about it in the comments section, but does anyone else wonder what on earth that eye-patch thing is about? blink.gif

You know, because I saw the first three movies first before I ever read a HP book, I wondered how they were going to portray Moody in a film. dry.gif

I thought the 'magical spinning eye' would be really difficult, but it looks like they overcame it by putting a sort of patch over his eye.

From the picture, my guess is that it has a 'blue-screen' on it that they then put the CGI image of his electic blue eye on. In the pic it doesn't look like an ordinary blacked-out eye patch.

The only way they could blank his eye out completely is by cutting all those scenes where he uses the eye to see through things?? But it seems pivotal to me that he can see through stuff. sad.gif

But then again, who knows? ph34r.gif

He looks weird on that picture. I didint imagine him like that. Does Moody have grey hair? I dont remember... blink.gif
And i always imagined him being tall and thin. That man on the picture looks a bit chubby. unsure.gif

Okay I'm not a big nerd who knowws all about the casting, but is it me or is that Micheal Cain?

Well, ive seen the picture of mad eyed moody in the OotP book, but i wonder how theyre going to make the magical eye in the movie. i havent seen a picture of mad eyed moody for the movie yet.
Louise
blink.gif Did you read the posts up there? Not to mention the title of the topic...how can you say you haven't seen him??!!

And no...heh heh heh...it's not Michael Caine....tongue.gif Nice idea though...tongue.gif Nah, it's Brendan Gleeson, who's playing Mad Eye Moody....and a rather pathetic looking one at that..... dry.gif I'm sure the special effect department could have come up with something a bit better than a strap-on eyeball.... rolleyes.gif
Lulu
I'm sorry, but that is the worst Mad-eye I have ever seen blink.gif
No scars, ar twisted face. It's a normal blond guy with an eyepatch. That's not Mad-eye. But then it is lego we see here so.
Like Dana said, I think that the spescial efects will make him look pretty good. Now don't missunderstand, when I say look good, I mean look like a 'mad-eye', so well made.. tongue.gif
Sofie
That eyepatch is really pathetic. He looks like a pirate. blink.gif
I hope they will make his magical eye look much better than it is on that picture: with some computer stuff. unsure.gif I mean on that picture there isnt the magical eye. I hope its not the "final version" of his face. I guess they will make it look more canon with CGI. unsure.gif

Maybe Moody flips his eye patch up when he's using his magical eye??
I dont know, but I hope it's good whatever they came up with. sad.gif

I agree that the eye-patch looks ridiculous - I mean, it's not the stuff you imagined when you were reading the book. It would look OK in a low-budget movie, but GoF is not that at all. And now, when you can create everything in a movie with CGI, then they should have made something looking like this:

But I like the idea of the flipping eye-patch, it's not like in the book, but still funny... I hope Mad-Eye will look really WEIRD in the movie.
And Willy One Eye... it's a funny name...

I would like to add to my previous post that I found a picture of Mad-Eye in the GoF computer game:

So the eye is ON the eye patch? A bit strange... but what's your opinion?

I think the Lego-thingie is either unofficial, or just another language. They changed the names in the dutch books too, so it figures it could have been done with other languages as well. But I don't remember the dutch names standing on any of the Harry Potter Lego, thought it was all English (I work in a toy store so that's how I know, I'm not playing with it anymore XD! I'd love to have that Knight Bus though ^^)

he looks soo different that what i imagined him as.

I think he looks utterly Ridiculous. What is up with the stupid eye patch. He does look like a pirate. Or he has one of those strap-on headlights on.

My friends; What is WB playing at? What a lousey way to create such an important character. With all the technology they have these days you would think they could have come up with something better. Heck, they could have just stuck a big blue contact in his eye and it would have been better that that dumb eye patch.

I can see it now; while I am watching this movie I will be thinking that he is going to start saying " ARRR matie... Shiver me timbers" Oh Paleeeese.

Good Grief. What are they going to do next" give Harry a Push broom or a garden rake to fly on?

Only one thing to add in this, the photo in the link, does he not look like a natzi? realy dont like it very much... sad.gif

But I must say that the carater in the movie is great, I realy like that Brendan Gleeson. But I guess its very hard to make him has describe in the book...

i think the new look for mad-eye moody is completly stupid, they so had the money to make that spinning overly large eyeball of his to be actually in his head like the BOOK says, they were pretty lame to add that machinery on them, they could have used cgi or really good make up, whats the deal, i want to know, or the directors vision for the characters are stupid, becuase the actor looks lame, id go with the Pete Postlethwaite, the old creepy dude with the glowy magic worms from JAMES AND THE GIANT PEACH, he make a good mad eye moody.

by the way...whats with ROn in the new movie......his hair...
at this rate..he can play Ginny when the half blood prince comes out , im sure harry potter fans will be delighted to see Rupert Grint and Daniel Radcliffe get busy.
Sofie
have you noticed, that in the international trailert, when they are showing Moody's face, well the next cut is Harry and Ron but there is a strange zooming sound and i think its his magical eye unsure.gif

weird

While I agree that Mad Eye Moody's appearance in Goblet of Fire (from what we've seen from the trailers, anyway) is a bit disarming (a bit too 'comedic' if you ask me, and perhaps too disappointingly low-tech.) I imagine Mad Eye as being a bit crustier and creepier (sort of like Felch), with a 'Magic Eye' more reminsescent of Edgar Allen Poe's story the Tell Tale Heart than the dorky 'space pirate' look. However, I still have hopes for the character despite his design and appearance in the movie because he is being played by actor Brendan Gleeson. He's a great actor (I though he was brilliant in Gangs of New York, AI, and The General) and has a great physical presense in all of the performances I've seen thus far. Who knows, maybe he will be brilliant in this too! If not, then maybe they will vastly redesign and improve the technology of the Magic Eye look and pass it off as the 'real thing' (ahem) when Moody 'returns' in The Order of the Pheonix. wink.gif

I think they could have done so much better with mad eye! the eye looks too fake and he looks quite short nd plump.I thought he would be thin and tall.oh well at least Cedric fits his discription. VERYY HANDSOM!

I completely agree. I saw a pic of Moody before I read GOF so I sort of used him as a base for my imaginination but even still I never saw a strapped on eye. I mean, what is that really? With as far as Hollywood has come with special effects and make-up, there is no excuse for Moody to look that bad. mad.gif I also pictured him with more scars than is really noticable with the film version of him. I also dissapointed in how they portrayed him. So, I just keep telling myself that it's a movie and not the book and try to take it with a grain of salt and open mind so I can thoroughly enjoy both.
