Now, where is the humor going to be in movie five if they have cut peeves from the movies???

I always thought Peeves was a riot. Hes really funny and I'm sad he wasnt in the movies

I know! I was really disappointed when Peeves did not turn up yet again in the third movie. But it is too late to add him isn't it? I mean, he can't just show up. I don't know.. I'm going to be really sad if the twins don't have their line: "Give her hell fom us, Peeves" in the fifth movie. :cry:

I think that they will still be able to include him in the mvoie so that the scene will remain the same. Everyone knows that each house has their own ghost and he wouldn't be hard to explain.

Yeah but I don't think Peeves is a house ghost. He bothers everyone. But then again, there are always random ghosts flying around anyway. I just think they'll have a challenging time introducing him to the characters such as the twins, Harry, Ron, etc. Because at this point, it hasn't been implied that they know such an annoying ghost.

I'm sure they could add Peeves if they really wanted to. As much as well all love that part, I'm pretty sure they won't add him in.

Its bad isn't it! I mean, George and I are really getting pushed further and further out of the limelight! That's our most legend line! But look at it like this- for those who haven't read the books, they won't understand anything about the seriousness and importance of the moment if it is added. After all, Peeves hasn't featured'so far and they don't know about his character. Too late, sadly!

i dont think that they added peeves because he wasnt that important to the plot. and they would have to cut out important things just to add him...

In the movies I never missed Peeves, like didn't notice he wasn't there, but when I thought back to the books and his part there I missed him. But I agree with fredweaselby, it's probably too late to add him in now. They could have just given him a little part in the first film when all the ghosts make their appearances. Like how you see the Fat Friar (what part has he ever played?) and some lady and the Bloody Baron...couldn't he just have flown by laughing and someone said, "oh look there's peeves"? but no...ah well...it's a loss...

I agree. You know, they actually had Peeves casted, according to Mugglenet. He was to be played by Rik Mayall.

How much does that suck for the actor who was going to play him? "Hi, we're going to cast you in this really great role in the Harry Potter movies!" "Oh boy, I'm going to go tell everyone I know!" "Oh by the way we cut you." "..."

I know! My friend says that Rik Mayall is a hilarious comedian, too, and that he'd have been perfect as Peeves.

You know what's funny? I could see Rowan Atkinson as Peeves.

Wow, I totally agree with you on that...Peeves is like the life of Hogwarts! I think it's a rather stupid idea to cut Peeves out of the films.

maybe they will add peeves into the new movies. i mean if everyone has read the books, then it cant be too late to add him.
after all, in the 3rd movie they almost completely changed hogwarts around. for instance, hagrids hut was in a completely different place.
but its not about that. i am really sad that peeves isnt in the movies, but there is a new directer for the 4th movie, peeves could at least be in that.

I know who was cast as Peeves, yes he was cast. The reason he wasn't in the film is............well i don't know, but i know for a fact that this man was going to play him. His name is Rik Mayall and i've seen him on tv and he would be the perfect Peeves, he's really crazy on the programs he's in.

I read somewhere they filmed Peeves' scenes but the budget wouldn't allow the scenes to be in the film because it already costed too much. I'm not sure how true this is.

Darn it, I really love Peeves.. he's one of my favorite characters! That ghostly troublemaker..lol. He would add humor to future films and make it somehow more enjoyable! Hopefully our wishes will be granted..! *wishes on a star*..lol

I really think they should of had Peeves in the movies. Rik Mayall would have been perfect! But in POA I loved the part of the book where the portrait of the fat lady, was slashed and Peeves says: Nasty temper that Sirius Black. It was so dramatic and scary, but they didn't bother with it!

I like peeves! And i don't think that they should cut him from the movies! He makes me laugh!

Yeah, Peeves is so great. He's always causing so much mayham. I love him. He's almost as funny as the Weasley twins. It sucks that he was cut from the movies, but I can live without him in them.

It hasn't upset me that he hasn't been in the other 3 movies but if they take him out of OotP when the weasly twins tell him to "give her hell" i'm going to be very very angry!!!!!!

Oh, yeah, I'd forgotten that since he's been cut from the movies that that part probably won't happen. That really bites. Now I'm gonna get mad about that scene in the 5th movie. lol. Oh well...

Peeves, so funny, I hope they put it at least in the 4th. movie, but if they don´t then he should be necessary in the 5th one, the part when they the twins left school, and they told peeves to keep bothering Umbridge and ruin the next days of school, that definetly should be in the movie!!

They'll probably just cut that whole part from the movie: the pranks. Or they won't have it exactly as it is in the books. It'll probably be toned down alot. Cause it'll cost a lot of money to do those scenes, with the swamp and fireworks and what not. Though it would have been really sweet to have Peeves in the 5th movie...oh well.

I was always a little upset he wasn't there. I wanted to see what he looked like and just to see his character. I was especially upset when I read that line in the fifth book and I figured it wouldn't be in the movie. That is like one of my favorite lines. I want to see that. But I have a feeling they will cut it out.

I hate peeves wish he can die again

Sure, Peeves does cause I lot of trouble and always seems to be trying to get Harry in trouble, but he's not hate worthy. I see him as one of the comic relief characters, which can sometimes hold everything together.

Just wanted to revive this topic to see if anyone else has some new ideas on it, seeing as how it was mentioned in a thread that was closed today.

The last I heard was that Rik Mayall had been cast as Peeves in PoA but he was cut because whoever is in charge (JKR or Chris Columbus, can't remember now) didn't want him introduced now if he'd already been absent from the first two films.

Ah well, such is life, I guess. He wasn't even on the DVD in the cut scenes. Very disappointing.

but i was really pleased of what he did with that umbridge woman!

I always wondered where peeves was in the movies..I mean he is in the first game at least (PS) and I think he is a good character in the book...he brings a lot of humour and lets face it I think we were all glad that he did that stuff to Umbridge!!! it was comic relief

Peeves *was* meant to appear in the HP movies, his debut was meant to be in CoS. Rik Mayall was confirmed to play him and had done the scenes (apparently there wasn't much screentime involving Peeves to begin with) but unfortunately, due to time constraints, he had to be cut from the final edit.

I definitely agree that he would have provided some comic relief in the movies. I mean, some of the things he got up to in the books had me laughing or at least, shaking me head in bemusement!!

Well.. although I don't want it to happen, the Harry Potter series could be made in film again, it is always possible, and maybe Peeves could be cast then. I mean Titanic has been filmed about four times, War of the Worlds twice and many many more. It could happen, even if I don't want it to happen. But maybe Peeves could be cast in another Potter movie.

A friend of mine told me he had read somewhere that Rik Mayall was lined up to play Peeves, but just before the first movie he was involved in a motorcycle accident, and they had no time to recast, so they just cut the part and then decided that, as he hadn't been introduced already, they would just leave Peeves out of the series entirely.
Not sure if this is entirely true, as I said - my friend told me he read it somewhere - not exactly a completely reliable source!!

They could have included him since when the movie is goin seriously a little bit of humour wouldn't damage the whole film.They may have thought that already there are more characters why need to add unnecessary characters and that Peeves doesn't have any major part to play in the movie.Atleast if they had included him it would have been fun watching HP movies.

That's the most infuriating thing about the movies, they haven't introtuced Peeves, he is the best character according to me, I mean he's not a ghost, but he's definitely the coolest not alive character at Hogwarts... And I'd absolutely hate the scene in which Dolores Umnbridgeleaves Hogwarts with Peeves right behind her whacvking her with Minervas walking staff...

The comedy will obviously have to be filled in by the Weasly Twins and odd-ball characters like Luna and Neville. But I suspect that a lot of the humor will be cut in order to make the movie seem more suspense-filled and even slightly frightening.

Still, I think that people who are fans of the Harry Potter books will come to feel the loss of Peeves more and more as the movies progress....leaving him out was perhaps to save time and money but I feel that overrall it was a BIG mistake.

I think they should have put Peeves in the movies. He is the comedy relief in it. i want to see him whack Umbridge with McGonagall's walking stick. But that was the first thing I noticed when I watched the first movie. Where's Peeves? But I was sadly dissapointed to find he wasn't there. Oh well.

Yes I have noticed that and wondered, why? I thought that Peeves was a character that needed to be added in the movies. They tend to leave out alot of stuff in the movies that is in the books.

I always thought Peeves was a useless character. He is an interesting 'piece' of Hogwarts, but he would serve absolutely no purpose in the movies. They made the movies with full knowledge that a lot of stuff would have to be cut from the later books. Why add an unimportant character that will only get the axe later on anyway?

I may actually cry if they don't put the Peeves/Twins line in. Seriously. I can see why they didn't include Peeves because he has such a small part in the series, but all the same I hope they bring him in for a small appearance for this movie. It's such a cool line!

Peeves was in The Philosopher's Stone!

Well he was and he wasn't. Rik Mayall played him, but he was cut from the final scene, google for it. If anyone has watched Drop Dead Fred I think you'll agree that Rik would have been an excellent Peeves if they kept him in! In fact, he'd be perfect.

I would really like it for Peeves to be in this one, but it appears very unlikely. I haven't seen the name pop up in any cast lists for the Order of the Phoenix, nor Rik Mayall's name.

It would have been so cool if they had kept Rik's part in.

They need to have Peeves in the 5th movie when Fred and George say goodbye and leave Umbridge! I laughed so hard when I read that in the book! Their verbal exchange cracked me up! So far it looks like it will be okay, but if they don't... ..you get the point!

I don't think there is any chance that Peeves will be included. They have never seen fit to include him in any of the previous four movies. It seems so unlikely that they would do so in the fifth. I really feel that is a shame. Peeves is such a great part of Hogwarts the the movies feel almost empty without his antics.
