Considering the length of the OOTP book, it is inevitable that a lot of scenes will be left out of the movie. mad.gif

I understand the 'feature film' needs to be kept under 3 hrs, so maybe the film makers could think about doing the same sort of thing Peter Jackson did with The Lord Of The Rings. huh.gif

That is, film a lot of extra scenes that appear only in a Special Release Edition DVD. wink.gif That way the DVD film could run for 4 or 5 hours and die-hard fans of the books (and there are rather a lot of us) would be able to enjoy a story line that is more comprehensive and more faithful to the books. smile.gif

What do you think? unsure.gif

I sometimes hate it that they have to cut out stuff in the theaters because, usually, my parents don't buy much d.v.d. s, and in the v.h.s. s, they don't show all of the extra scenes.. But it would be better if they put in extra scenes in them (doesn't matter how much, HP fans will take most anything).
razzberry2
Hey, I've noticed there have been quite a few more viewings on this thread than poll posts and comments. ohmy.gif

Please atleast do the poll. Maybe, just maybe, with a budget of over 300 million, they will have enough money to produce the extra scenes if we kick up enough fuss! tongue.gif

Ok, it's highly unlikely they will see this, let alone pay attention to it, but You Never Know! laugh.gif laugh.gif

Show I'm not the only one who could sit through an extended Harry Potter Film. tongue.gif

Oh, and comments are most welcome too.
Luke_57
yeah i would love to see the cut scenes! but what i would love even more would be for the WB to put out a movie with every single scene they filmed, in IMAX theatres. That would be amazing.
razzberry2
Luke, I couldn't agree more. I think the makers of OotP have some excellent marketing opportunities because they could release the feature film first, then maybe the IMAX after a month, and finally the DVD. tongue.gif

Lulu
Yes! A 100% Positiv!
Look at the book, it's the thickest of all the Harry Potter books so far, including HBP. Think of all those sceens they can't put in the moovie because it can't be longer than 2.5 hour's.
So I really, really hope that the'll put in 'deleted sceens' in the OoTP DVD. And I think they'll do it because it's many sceens they can't put in the film that is shwon in the cinemas.
bubblegumgir16
i heard a rumour that the goblet of fire was going to be 4 hours long but with an intermission so maybe they will film a long version of order of the phoenix. there are so many important parts in all of the books that have been missed out already such as who moony wormtail padfoot anf prongs are (only book readers will know this) so they would have to have the Ootp film long to keep in all of the important things. i hope they do cos otherwise it will be a real shame. i was disappointed with the amount of things missed out in the 3rd movie such as harrys patronus not takin the shape of a stag .
Liquid Luck
Yes! That is a fantastic idea! They should do that! The movie could be like 5 hours long! Woot! Oh, dear! Now you have me excited and the DVD of the Order of the Pheonix isn't due until 2008 at the earliest.

MOD EDIT: Just a friendly reminder that certain words are considered unnecessary to use in the forums as they are open to a wide range of age groups. Not a big thing, but I have edited it anyway. If you are still in doubt about why, please refer to the rule page. wink.gif

Well realy who would not like an extra hour of magic! Some time we are way to use for action, but a simple time walking arroung in the dark forrest, I would realy like that. Have you notice that we also have never visited the dongeons or the astronomy tower...

So many place in such a short time sad.gif
Auror37
Actually I do like the extra footage on the DVD. Why don't they just include the extra footage into the movie just for the DVD. Look at Chamber of Secrets, the movie is like 2 hours and 45 minutes, but there is also like 30 minutes of plus footage as deleted scenes. Why not edit in the movie for the DVD.

laugh.gif
We realy need and I mean need the exta footage on the DVD because the book is huge and I am a giant fan (like Grawp, lol laugh.gif ) of Harry Potter.
Krieltje
Off course I voted yes. (like the most people tongue.gif ) OotP is my favorite book and I would love to see everything on film. The book is full of important stuff which I really want to see back in the movie!
Ygraine
I voted! hehehehe

I would love there to be more footage in the OoTP DVD! But it would be better if they released it at the same time as the normal DVD (like any one would buy that if there was a cool funky one...well i wouldn't any way.) Because when the lord of the rings bonus dvd came out i'd already bought the proper one dry.gif and i don't like the films that much to have the film twice.

Come on extra footage DVD! biggrin.gif

hehehe, i finally managed to get me self a funky avvie, i don't know why but for some reason ealier it just wasn't letting me. oh well. tongue.gif
juans90
of course i'd like to have extra footage... can't imagine anyone who doesn't wants... anyway i'd like it so i voted yes
razzberry2
I knew I wasn't the only one who would be interested in seeing stuff specially filmed for the OOTP DVD!! biggrin.gif

Keep the answers coming! Maybe someone will listen beore it's too late sad.gif

What do you think? unsure.gif

your TOTALLY WRIGHT smile.gif !!!!
that shode be a splendid idea id love wink.gif to see more than 2h HP cool.gif !!!

you shode e-mail this idea to Warner Bross!

Big D
I think thats a superb idea, and i really hope someone goes for it.

to be honest i hope they do a LOTR with all the films, and release extended editions. It wouldbe difficult now everyone's grown up, but there's so much of the earlier books i wanted to see on screen, like in particular griffindor winning the quidditch cup in POA was one of my favourite bits of the whole series, and i was really dissapointed not to see it on film, but instead see them turn Harry into David Beckham dry.gif

but like you say razz there's so much more scope for it in ootp as its going to have to be a long film anyway to take it all in. But unless its going to be a movie release of about 5 hours long, which to be fair i'd still sit through there going to miss masses of it, and it'd be a lot easier to do that as a special released dvd.

To warner bro's we go! wink.gif
Nick
I think thata special release dvd would be an amazing idea!! But as well as having the "extended" movie, a lot of deleted scenes, outtakes etc would be great as well! It's a shame they cant make the feature film full length, but nevertheless, as has already been said, i'd still sit through 5/6 hours of GoF
razzberry2

I would love to see the full plot line done for the DVD, but I guess it all comes down to time and money. I really think WB would make the money they spend on it back though. Surely they would have at least tossed this idea up in pre-production? I wonder dry.gif Dont suppose there is anyone out there who has an aunt or uncle or something like that working in WB production that could kinda push this idea through? tongue.gif
ManagingLotsOfMischief
It seems to me that most of the extra scenes on the current DVD"s is footage we already had a glimpse of on a TV program or event....I'd love to see REAL deleted Extra footage from OOtP...GoF..every HP movie. Things that you have to actually buy the DVD to see..you know?!
Padfoot313
Since so much is taken out for the movie to begin with, the DVD should contain all the scenes that were cut out so the movie would be closer to the book.
TheatreNerd0048
Heck Yess !
i love all that extra stuff like "Behind the Scenes" and the long versions of everything. I like seeing how they would do it and how they do do it
ariana
Considering the fact that they cut a lot from GOF , they will do the same thing with OOTP ( it is bigger ) . And since we will not have 2 OOTP movies ( we don't have for GOF even if WB wanted ) and extra something on DVD is needed . It's just that they cut to much and the story will not have a sence .
Velvet
I would definately be interested in an extended film for OotP, I think that the other film certainly missed out too much informations, I understand that it must be hard trying to fit in all the valuable information into a film but I don't understand why they don't just extend the time limit in order to do it - especially with such a long and detailed book. I really think that the other films missed out important information like ths sirius-harry bond, which would be pivotal for the ootp film, and how do they know that the information they miss out won't be relevant to later books (ok so theres only 1 book left) but earlier film may have found it hard to keep thing smooth because bits they missed may be significant later
Kolby Potter
I think that they should Defitenly do that. Although I gotta admit that it would be alot of Extra work. But All well tongue.gif. I neeed alot of Video. Heck I was sad when they cut a few scenes in PoA. tongue.gif cool.gif
Salazaar
Razzberry good topic, I totally agree on that. I am also a die-hard Lord of the Rings fan and the extended version was pretty close to the book.
If they dont have an extended version I will be super ****ed and I will write to both the directors and also to JK Rowling. I think most fans will be waiting for an extended version, and also Peter Jackson did it really well with the extended version of LotR.
priori_incantatem
Yes, that would be so cool if we had so many extra scenes. But what about in the movie theatre? Wouldn't it be strange to think "I've seen OotP in the theatre, but I haven't really seen the whole movie."? I'm not sure how I fell about that...
*pretty in punk*
Of course I would want extra footage in the DVD! I would dying to buy the DVD just to see the scenes! tongue.gif
tuin
Extra scenes are always fun to watch, but what I really want for the DVD are interviews and lots of behind-the-scenes stuff. It is just more than interesting to watch how these movies are made.

And for the first time they really should put some kind of blooper reel!
Spencer Potter
I was sad to Harry_Potter_Fan when they cut the scenes escpecially when I re-read all the books over and watched the movies, But it would be cool to see how they act when they arent really doing mahic, It would be hard to contain myself sayign EXPECTO PATRONUM with nothing happening there and just standing and gasping for nothing, I would laugh.. But, off topic I think it was cheesy when Harry was trying to cry but he couldnt in Prisoner of Azkaban!
Harry_Ginny777
i really want there to be bonus footage on the order of the Phoenix DVD i can't wait for that movie to come out i am so excited only 342 more days 8 hours and 26 minutes and 3 seconds until the 5th movie comes out yay you aree all probaly wondering how did i get it down to the second if you go to this site you will see the front page and it is a countdown until it comes out.

The Leaky Cauldron Count Down
draco_malfoy<3
I wouldn't mind for extra footage! happy.gif
The more Harry Potter, the better!! cool.gif
Die Zimtzicke
Oh, yes. The film cuts down the book, then the editor cuts down the film. That's a lot of paring down, if you ask me. I always enjoy seeing the extra scenes that get cut out of the final product. That's one reason to buy the extended version of the DVD.
SuperFawkes
I think it would be great if they put in like in the box Disc 1 original film as seen in cinema then disc 2 with all the orginal film but with like 1 or 2 hours extra of bits from the book fitted in the right places biggrin.gif i voted YES obviously lol
HPFan792
YESSSSSSSSS I love when they put extra footage in the DVDs i hope they put extra footage in OOTP.There is nothing better than more HP!
Spadice
of course i would like to have extra scenes on the dvd. i understand that they can't put all the material in the movie, but it would be the greatest thing ever to get more scenes. as much harry potter that they can possibly give is still not enough. biggrin.gif
bookworm57
i love watching the extra footage on dvd's. it makes me feel like i was a part of the whole movie process by learning all of the secrets...or maybe it's just wishful thinking:)
Waterlilly
I would definately like to have extra footage on the OOTP DVD, since most of the book content was cut out for allotted time. The more Harry Potter the better, since there's so much in OOTP.

I wish they didn't have to cut all of the Quidditch scenes and Umbridge banning Harry, Fred and George from Quidditch for life. I hope they do add Fred and George's big exit. biggrin.gif

*col*
Yes I agree! They should have a collector's edition with all the cut scenes in it. Now wouldn't that be awesome. I would love it. I really wish they did include all the Quidditchy goodness in OOTP! Such a disappointment. I wouldn't mind a 4 - 5 hour movie at all tongue.gif

*col*
Harry Potter Fan
Tell me about it. I sure hate it when they cut parts of the story out of the film. Then again imagine how long the movie would be if they included everything. I mean come on the book is 890 pages. When they do make the DVD for OOTP. I hope it has Extra Footage for all of the faithful HP fans.
Ginny16
The more extra footage the better!! I can't wait to see the movie since OotP is my favourite book. tongue.gif
Loopy_Luna
The more footage the better

They always cut out a lot of footage to make the film the correct length.

I always like to watch a directors cut film that way you get to see the film exactly how he wanted it to be.

maia_potter
YES!! OF COURSE!!!
With books of this lenght, there are always things that the producers have to cut off. And I love to see the scenes that were cut off, because I just can't get enough of HP ^^
Besides, people who don't read the books can get more information by the additional scenes, they can understand it better, I think. For example if they had put all the scenes that were on the extra DVD, people would have thought that there was something odd about Mad-Eye, otherwise, I don't think they would figure it out.
xD
flutequeen84
They so need to include a director's commentary. I'm disappointed that not one of them has included one. I love watching commentaries and finding out how they went about filming certain things and the stories behind them.
Hilly
Oh, if I could see all of OotP played out on screen! *faints* I would be one happy girl! woot.gif If they could put every little thing in I would pretty much scream till I loose my voice! This is my favorite book so if the movie was equally as good I would go insane!!
62442al_Man
cool.gif Of course! tongue.gif

I love the little stuff they give, and I really loved the stuff in the Prisoner of Azkaban one. I can't wait to see what they come up with next.
soccerchik
YES!! If they can do it for LOTR than they can do it for OotP!! At least OotP would interest me, I could barely stay awake for the regular LOTR films i didn't even last 10 minutes with the log one! So, yes they should I would LOVE to see that!!!!!!!
ashlee_rae
Omg yes i can not wait for the movie to come out and their would have to be alot of left over footage as the book is long and you couldnt fit it all in to a 2 hour film and i hope they dont miss out the really important stuff.
hp1
yessss i love watching deleted scenes on DVDs. since they can't put every scene in the actual movie, it is nice to watch the scenes the cut even if it didn't make it in the actual movie. i love all the bonus features they put in the DVDs and my favorite parts are watching the deleted scenes.
Amyrat151
Yes, oh course, who wouldn't. I would love for their to be a directors cut of all the movies. I sometimes hope that after all the HP movies are made they'll re-release them with directors cuts, that would be nice. ::sigh::
