Forget bellatrix vs harry/neville or harry vs voldemort or dumbledore vs voldemort, this is the true clash of the titans, dobby vs kreacher. I believe that in the next two books these two will face off against one another, so who will win this titanic clash of the titans. Will it be the malevolent kreacher or the heroic dobby. Round one ding ding.

It would definetly think that Dobby would win, because Kreacher is quite old and practicly has one foot in the grave.

Guys, this is looking a lot like the Who is your favorite House Elf? thread that was started the other day. Now, I understand how you could take this question in different directions (i.e. discuss the possibility of Dobby and Kreacher literally in combat, what would happen if they met, could Dobby influence Kreacher, etc.), so I'm leaving this thread open for now in the hopes that this conversation will turn away from your favorite house-elf and become a bit more canon-oriented. I just want to warn you all now, though, that if the nature of this discussion does not change very shortly, I'm going to have to lock this.

I was about to say that I didn't think it likely that Dobby and Kreacher would become mortal enemies, however I just realized that the last person to talk to Kreacher that we know about was Dumbledore. So the question is, what did Dumbledore do with him?

He couldn't send him off to the Malfoys, Draco's mother being one of the last relatives, because of what he knows (though we can assume he has interacted with her in the past)

There's always Tonks, who is a cousin or something of Sirius', but I dont think she will want him. (would you?) I dont think Harry would get him for two reasons, not the least being that Harry despises him now that he knows he had a hand in Sirius' death. And Harry isn't really entitle to Kreacher as he is not part of the Black family (and we dont yet know what will happen to Sirius's possessions)

So, maybe Dumbledore will take him to Hogwarts? If he does, I am sure trouble will ensue between Dobby, who worships Harry (and loves his friends Hermione (who Kreacher calls a mudblood) and Ron(a traitor of pure bloods to Kreacher)), and Kreacher, who maliciously betrayed his own master because he held with the ideals of wizard purists.

It would be very interesting to see what would come out of their differences. Especially if Kreacher continues to spy within Hogwarts for Draco's family. Maybe there differences will be responsible for inciting a uprising amongst house-elves, forcing them to choose sides?

i don't think that DD would be able to bring Kreacher to Hogwarts because Kreacher wouldn't be of much service in the kitchens, and probably wouldn't clean up the common rooms either--he's too old and lazy.

as far as dobby and kreacher going head to head, well we havent really seen any of kreacher's magic at all. dobby did some [obviously house-elves have their own brand of magic as rowling has said] and i think that if it came down to dobby protecting harry or helping him in any way, dobby would definiately trounce kreacher. it'd actually be pretty amusing!

back to what DD will do with kreacher.. as razzberry said, he couldn't send him to malfoys, don't think tonks would get him, i'm thinking that kreacher would probably die before he got the chance to be inherited.

this is a little off-topic, but i wonder if sirius left a will at all--if he did then maybe harry *will* inherit kreacher. if he did, i would think he'd rather kill the house-elf then have him in service because he lied to harry about sirius. i dont really know though..
