I'm not gonna lie, I was definitely shocked and disappointed with HBP. Granted it has been a long time since I've read HBP, but I remember it well seeing how many times I did read it.

First off, I too felt that the characters regressed. In Order of the Phoenix, my favorite of the series by the way, I felt that all the characters in the book really began to develop, as did their bonds of friendship. I was looking forward to see what Jo did with all of them and I can say that I was not fond of what happened. Hermione was the worst for me. I mean, she has always been such a strong, independent, brillant person and she was turned into a lovesick puppy (for lack of a better description). I felt it really undermined her strength and intelligence. For me, that kind of messed up the whole Hermione/Ron relationship as well. I really have been hoping they'd get together, though I'm not a big shipper, but when it actually happened, after the Ron/Lavender relationship and everything Hermione did, it didn't seem as powerful and special had it might have been if they had just gotten together without Lavender.

I was also not a big fan of what Lupin's initial rejection did to Tonks. She was so bubbly and quickly became one of my favorites in OotP, so seeing her depressed and mopey all the time because of a man was disappointing. I would see her more as someone who would fight for her love instead of moping about it.

Harry and Ginny would have been really cute, just because she had a crush on him as a younger girl, had it been developed. I mean, one minute they are just friends and the next Harry is a lovesick puppy! Where did that come from? And, as of right now I don't see Ginny good enough for Harry. Where is all this amazing strength and power we keep hearing about?

Of course there is the whole issue of DD's death. I too realized that it was inevitable that he was going to die, but seeing him so weak and powerless at the time of death was shocking...not in a good way. The greatest wizard of all time, killed by Snape's Avada Kedavra...that was kind of a cheap plot twist for me. And what was up with Harry being right about Snape? I knew he loathed him, but I always expected that Harry was wrong and the most brillant wizard in the world, DD, had some deeper meaning behind trusting him. I am definitely hoping Jo has come up with something that will make the plot seem less cheap.

I suppose that I am hoping that Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows has some pretty deep, amazing twists that makes the HBP a bit more meaningful. I understand that it was the bridge and had to be slightly boring to make way for the final installment, but seriously. My expectations are high for the next one and hopefully Jo wont let me down!!!!!

that book is so freakin amazing!! i love it. I was totally surprised, but thats what makes a good book right? JKR put in some really good twists.

1) Won-Won and Lavendar
2)Harry's love for Ginny
3)Harry becomes good in potions
4)Snape kills Dumbledore
5)HORCRUXES!!!!
6) Percy comes home.
7) Dracos mission
8) The potion in the cave!!

Anyway, this book just leaves me craving for more biggrin.gif tongue.gif biggrin.gif tongue.gif laugh.gif

I liked the 6th book, but OOTP was my favorite. I thought it was a good idea to look into ol' moldywart's past to help harry learn about the horcruxes. I almost cried when dumbledore died ( and im a guy lol ). I wanna read it again but its only 2 days until the 7th book so it will be a waste of time.

i was shocked that dumbledore died and i almost cried but i didn't but i was the most shocked about the way the book took into horcruxes and it was going to a dark end and even greatest and most powerful wizards were in danger

My initial reaction after finishing HBP was shock. I couldn't believe Dumbledore was dead. I've never had so many questions in my life. There were so many clues I was trying to put together to try to understand what happened. I couldn't wait for book 7 to come out to find out all of my questions from HBP. I really like Harry Potter before, but after this book I was absolutely obsessed.

I did like the book, but not as much as GoF. That's my favorite one. I must say I had to read it twice in order to really like it. The first time I read it, I was in such a hurry to finish it that I didn't really enjoy it. I was extremelly shocked of Dumbledore's death, and that's about it.
The I read DH and I thought, in order to really get HBP, I have to re-read it, and so I did. I finished it last week, and I must say it was extremelly amazing. What a great book! My second favorite, next to GoF.
I felt surprised of all the details that I missed, and all the fun parts that were in it and that I had missed!
Now that I re-read it, it think it was one of JKR's best books! In Ron's words, "Brilliant!"!!!
Dumbledore's Widow
My initial reaction to HBP? I was livid with where I thought Rowling was going with the shippings. Absoutely livid! I was confounded with Hermione's and Harry's characterizations. They both were brought down a couple of notches. It was as if they were under some demonic influences! Or love potions! rolleyes.gif I detested that pants chest monster of Harry's! I thought I was reading a book that might have been titled, "The Weasley Chronicles". I initially thought Dumbledore wasn't dead, but later I realized that he was indeed dead, but I was convinced that he and Snape had planned his demise all along. I knew that Snape was innocent!

There it is, my initial reaction to HBP all rolled up.

I was really went numb after reading HBP. I couldn't believe snape.I was really sad when dumbledore died.I did not want him to die. Snape is a real genius with all those spells and tips for making potions.I really think dumbledore should have told all these a long time ago about the horcruxes and how voldemort's lives are separated. How he comes back each time.Dumbledore should have told harry that snape was on their side cause it caused a lot of trouble for him in HBP.But in the end it all turned out to be that it should happen so and so. J.K Rowling had really had it in her hesd.
She rules in the Wizarding World.
HURRAY for J.K Rowling for her awesome books EspeciallyHBP.

I was pretty Ok and satisfied by the book until I reached the part in which Snape kills Dumbledore.I just couldn't believe that Snape uttered those two words.I was like ohmy.gif .And I was very sad about Dumbledore of course.I wasn't expecting his death. There were so many questions in my mind.So there.I was shocked by what Snape had done because I believed he was innocent, and by the death and I was also very confused.

It is a little late to be posting this as all the Harry Potter books have already come out and book 6 is just a memory, but I just want to express my feeling over what it my favorite book in the Harry Potter series. HBP was an amazing book. I think the only time I put it down was so that I could sleep. The only part of the book that I did not enjoy was that it was shorter than the OotP.

I loved the plot twists and was so lost in my thoughts about the book when I finished. Because of this book, I was able to spend 2 years searching for the answers to what would happen. I have read this book more than any of the others and plan to read it more. It will go down as my favorite book, passing my previous one-PoA.

My initial reaction after reading was one thing- I want more. I loved the writing style and I loved the story.

Personnally, I was really pleased with HBP! And on the day it came out, I happened to be in the Maritimes, in a hotel right next to a bookshop. biggrin.gif Only one other person was reading it at breakfast! shocking.gif Haha. Oh well, on with the review!

I really liked HBP, it was one of those interesting ones. You could really see the settling of the contrast between 5/6/7 and 1/2/3/4, speaking darkness and matureness. There are loads of things we found out in HBP, lots of answers, although never as much as in DH, of course! Plus, we weren't entirely focusing on Voldemort and the Half-Blood Prince, there was also that distraction of the love triangle... Honestly, I think that was necessary in the book! Somewhere in the series there had to be a breaking point with huge focus on the relationships, but it couldn't be too early, and not too late either (DH = no way!). My conclusion of the book is that I really liked it and it was definitely my favorite! smile.gif
Dumbledore's Widow
My initial reaction to HBP? I was livid! And, in all honesty, this was the book that ruined the series for me. I wish I had not bought the book. I just as well have flushed the cash down the toilet bowl! DH was no better, but at least I didn't purchase it! sleep.gif

I loved the book! FAVORITE BOOK! It was so awesome and it left me craving for more. It was the first time that after I finished reading a HP book I was left with uneasy-ness... It was amazing, I loved it!

Personally I really enjoyed the HBP although i was very suprised by the desion to kill of Dumbledore but i wasnt too uset! I really liked how it involved Draco MAlfoy more because i think in the other books too much of it is about how terrible he is, so it was good to see hes not as bad as everyone thinks he is tongue.gif

My initial reaction was getting a shock of my life, although i am quite old maybe older than most of you here, and when i asked few fans 'is it worth reading it?" "I hope it isnt too childish?" i had no idea that it would be such a great read, i picked up the first part to read on plane, rest is history.

I am a little dissapointed because with all its misery it was a cheerful story, but after reading book six i am afraid the end is really dark and not something i thought someone would write for kids. It has left too many unanswered question and The title and Plot around Half BLood Prince (the Book) wasnt very convincing. I was thinking that Book belong to Voldemort buit it was Snape's. My only complain is that JK sometimes jumps and waste too many pages on useless details and leaves the main story untouched until the end (but it was much better than GOF) Anyway Still havent bought the last part, but i am sure i'd get my answers.

I didn't like Half Blood Prince that much. I was numb after Dumbledore died and then Harry and Ginny have a relationship out of nowhere. I was a little bit happier after Harry called things quits for the war. I'm excited for the movie but only because I want to see the Weasley joke shop so bad.

When i finished reading i felt mostly shocked. I didn't think she'd get rid of Dumbledore before the 7th, but i guess it made the story a lot more deeper and mature. It was pretty nice though how you got to see a lot of the old characters, and merpeople, and centaurs at the funeral.

My initial reaction to HBP, you say? Well, when I finished it for the first time, I was sad and even a bit depressed. Dumbledore's death...it felt as though JKR had done this to intentionally hurt me more after the death of my beloved Sirius. I know now that JKR did not kill off Dumbledore in order to intentionally hurt me; she was just showing that everyone close to Harry had to die in order for him to be able to defeat Voldemort. Back then, though, it sure did feel like she did it on purpose. I was so depressed that I actually told my mom to take me to a therapist...I am not kidding. eeek.gif
Harry James Potter
I loved HBP, my second favorite by far. I really enjoyed DUmbledore's lessons with Harry and the hunt for the first Horcrux. Slughorn was by far a phenomenal add to the series and added some humor when Harry became superb at Potions (being the first time he was ever called amazing in Potions class). I also really liked how grown up the book became. The seriousness of Lord Voldemort really started to weigh in on this book because there were hints that Dumbledore was going to die; and his hand sorta sealed the deal for this book. So I think this book was the first time Harry really had to start thinking as if Dumbledore wasn't going to be there anymore.

I really liked one part of this book, then there was the other half I didn't like so much. I was really fascinated during Dumbledore's lessons with Harry, as all the information about Voldemort's past was very interesting to me. And all the revelations about Snape overhearing Trelawney's prediction, I found it very satisfying.

The part I didn't like so much was the romance side. I didn't like Ginny much in this book, so I wasn't too fussed about her and Harry getting together. And the Ron and Lavender thing shocked me at first, but drove me insane, I hate it when anyone in the trio isn't speaking (Ron and Hermione). R/L was so superficial, that's another reason why it annoyed me, and it was constantly in my face.

I can't accurately describe my reaction to Dumbledore's death as I didn't read it properly. I made the stupid mistake of not buying the book straight away, and found that I couldn't resist looking over my friend's shoulder while he was reading it. I ended up taking it away from him so that I could start reading it properly during reading time, but I had already seen a few spoilers, such as Dumbledore's death. I think I was a bit shocked, but I couldn't be too emotional because I hadn't read it properly. If only I could turn back time...

I think in the end I was a bit sad and worried. I didn't like the thought of Harry, Ron and Hermione not going back to Hogwarts, because I thought that was what I liked most about the series, the school environment. However, Deathly Hallows did not disappoint me.

Itīs my absolute favorite of the series.

First and formost the ending was one of the most shocking things Iīve ever read in my life.

It completely caught me off guard and made me weep for hours. I donīt think any surprise ending after reading HBP will ever shock me as much as Dumbledores death.

It also has my favorite chapter in the series: The cave. Itīs the only chapter in the entire serirs that has ever scared me beyond belif(especially when Dumbledore was drinking the potion)

The rest of it was great too but the last chapters is the main reason I will never forget this book.
