Well you lot what was your funniest and saddiest moments in the book and which bit did you like best.
Funniest for me had to be " U_NO_POO - "
Saddiest was merope tale, it made me want to cry.
The best bit was when they were making an antidotes in potions and harry walks into the store cupboard, takes a bezoar and wins hand down.

Funniest...man, so many choices. Probably when Fred (or was it George?) kept pressing Ginny on her love life. Also, Harry debating himself about Ginny "He's your best mate's sister." "She's hot." "She's still your best mate's sister." "I wanna make babies with her." Etc.
Saddest...well, when Snape killed Dumbledore!

The best bit I think was when the HBP revealed who he was, i was in so much shock.
The thoughts that Harry was thinking about Ginny, how he wasnted to Kill dean and stuff, I think Jk could have had done so much more with that, Harry being Sixteen now,

but i though it was rather funny all the same. but this one wasn't as funny as the others i think, no fred and george.

The saddest bit, i don't know why was when Tonks was shaking Remus saying that she didn't care about he was a werewolf and stuff, that she loved him anyway. I don't know but it just makes me sad. The whole unrequainted love thing always makes me sad.

I personally loved the whole romance thing going on in this book.

But it did seem like JK was kind of making up for it from there not being much in the past books if you no what i mean . But im a **** for romance though so......
The whole Remus and tonks thing ,well i did not see thyat coming lol. I saw it on fansites and thought nah like thats ever going to happen.
The saddest part was definatly snape murdering dumbledore, O My God i did not see that coming, total and utter shock i had to re-read it. I thought he wasn't going to die untill the 7th.

Funniest part: When Dubledore is picking Harry up from Privet drive, and has the drinks bumping against their heads 'Harry could not suppress a suspicion that Dumbledore was rather enjoying himself'
Best bit: I'm torn really, the most significant part for me is when Dumbledore is talking to Malfoy, reveals quite alot about Malfoy's character. Oh and also when Harry is taking him back from the cave, "I am not worried, Harry" Said Dumbledore, his voice a little stronger despite the freezing water "I am with you".
My other 'best bit' is, quite soppily and spimply beacuse it is alluded to so much and you just want it to happen: "And without thinking, without planning it, without worrying about the fact that fifty peopl ewere watching, Harry Kissed her".
Saddest: When Harry tells Ginny that they can't be toghether. Reminded me of the end of Spiderman... I did felt like shouting at him, "Don't be a prat!!" Love conquers all, and he's always been able to keep Ron and Hermione safe, so he should just go for it and **** the concequences. Ho hum...

I kinda of though when Harry & Ron ran in Moaning Myrtle in the bathroom and Mrytle was "Do you remeber when I visited you in the bath?" and Harry was like "Vividly" that just reminded me about what happened the the 4th book that I thought was funny. The sadest moment was probably the funeral for Dumbledore.

darkflux, u stole my idea for a thread hehehe, jokes..
Ok, well the funniest for me... God there were a few i cant remember where they are now or i'd have to search the whole book, but what stood out in my memory as funny, especially when i pictured it, was:
"Hermione slid off the desk. The little flock of golden birds continued to twitter in circles around her head so that she looked like a strange, feathery model of the solar system"
"Hagrid sat down next to his half-brother and Grawp patted Hagrid hard on the head, so that his chair legs sank into the ground", made me laugh out loud in between the tears.
The saddest, for me, was the whole funeral scene. I think it was really great how Jo put in all those little things where Harry was struck with the urge to laugh, or simply remembered random funny things... it just showed how much Dumbledore's spirit was present. But overall it was a very, 'detaching' sort of a scene in a way, not only because of the fact that Dumbledore was being laid to rest and the whole burial itself, but also the fact that it is this chapter in which Harry is hit with a realisation, and through it we see just how different things are going to be...
There are three parts which for me are the best: one almost made me whoop out loud, and it was the bit where Scrimgeour visits The Burrow and has that little chat with Harry, in which Harry declares himself "Dumbledore's man through and through".
The second one, which had such an impact on me and just made me go 'oh my God, that is so true'. The part on page 479 where Harry realizes the difference between the approach that Voldemort and he are taking, and the difference of the way in which he will be approaching the prophecy now that he has completely understood what Dumbledore was trying to tell him, which he describes as 'the difference between being dragged into the arena to face a battle to the death and walking into the arena with your head held high'. That last paragraph was simply brilliant.
And the third almost made me cry, on page 540, when Dumbledore says to Harry: 'I am not worried, Harry', said Dumbledore, his voice a little stronger despite the freezing water. 'I am with you.'

Funniest -- tie between Mollywobbles and where Dumbledore tells Uncle Vernon "let us assume you have invited me into your home." I loved those bits.
Saddest -- well, when Dumbledore died was technically the saddest, but the most poignent parts I think affected me more, like his reaction to Harry telling him that he was Dumbledore's man through and through, and Dumbledore telling Harry he wasn't afraid because he was with Harry.
Best written part for me was the funeral -- JKR captured what is like to be at the memorial of someone you really appreciated in life -- the memorial should be mournful, but also full of memories and even smiles at parts, and this scene captured all of those mixed emotions.

I thought the best bit was when Harry overheard Draco in the bathroom crying, then they pulled their wands, and Harry did that awful curse. I felt the same shock that he did at the result, and I literally had my hand up over my mouth.
The sadest bit that finally made me shed a tear at Dd's funeral was when the Centaurs fired their bows in tribute to the man. Considering how estranged they are from humans, I thought that was really touching.
Funniest bit was the description of people trying to practice non-verbal magic, their faces red and straining - Harry thought they looked like they had dosed up on U-NO-POO

Funniest- When Ron and Ginny were fighting because she was kissing dean and she told ron the biggest kiss he ever got was from his aunt merial and when she told him all he does is stay in his room kissing Pigwidgeon and his aunts photograph. And the "U-NO-POO" as well
Sadest- Dumbledores funeral ... i dont even want to talk about it

I had the exact same reaction!!! And a couple of expletives after, thinking "He didn't just do that!"
Anyway, there has been quite a bit of good jokes in this book. I just loved the bit where Ginny told Harry that Romilda Vane has been asking if he had a Hippogriff tattoo and she said that it was a Hungarian Horntail because it's more macho and also told Romilda that Ron has a pygmy puff tattoo. I was laughing so hard that people around me thought I'd gone mental.
On the other hand, my heart was just wrenched out of my chest when Harry had to keep Dumbledore drinking the liquid from the cave. I realized there how much Harry loves and respects Dumbledore because he kept his word that he will keep him drinking although it was hurting both of them. By the end of that chapter, I was almost weeping.

Actually another really funny bit that I may even like more than one I posted earlier is Luna's efforts at calling the quidditch game. I remember Harry's reaction as he was listening to it up in the air and I thought is was hillarious!

Jul 19 2005, 03:43 PM
Funniest: Yeah, when Hermione made the birds attack Ron
Saddest: the phoenix lament
Best Bit: its a tie. 1. when Ron's like "We'll be there" so sweet 2. When Ron hugged Hermione at the end when she was crying

Yeah Razzberry, Luna at the Quidditch match was hilarious, Luna talking about cloud formation! LMAO it's so something that i would do!
I just remembered a bit that i think i found the funniest was when Ron had eaten the sweets with the love potion in them and walked right past Lavender and said,
'Move out of the way, Harry's going to introduce me to Romilla Vane' (sp)
Infact that whole scene is hilarious! Ron telling her to stop hiding! Awww, i was laughing so much i woke my bro up in the next room! I can't believe i forgot about that.

Jul 19 2005, 03:54 PM
There were so many places I laughed out loud. My favorite was when in DADA class Snape was coming to jinx Harry and he "Protego!" and then he says something to Harry Harry answers "Yes". Snape says, "Yes SIR". harry then says, "Professor, there is no reason to call me sir." I thought that was the best EVER! Too funny given the extreme circumstances he was in at the moment.
I have to say, the best bit was "stepping into" the fight scene at the end and seeing that the DA members, all those that showed up, were really fighting and holding thier own. I mean, it was cool to know Ginny and Ron literaly fought off Death Eaters and was fighting along side McGonagall. Nevile, even though hurt, seemed to understand what was happening and still managed to help. What a great group they are!
The saddest part...the same as everyone else's I suppose. I mean, really not DD's death. Just how Harry must feel, going about everything alone now. That hopeless anger that comes from being alone and facing something you have a good chance of dying in. That is what is sad for me.

O wow.
Well, I'd have to say that there was a lot of funny bits and it's going to be hard to choose just one.
So I won't
1.When the glasses were bumping the Dursley's heads.
2. The part where Harry says 'You don't have to call me sir."
3. Ron after the love potion.
So many more i just can't remember the rest.
The saddest bits was when Dumbledore died, and at the funeral, and the Phoenix lament.
The best part was when Dumbledore said "I'm with you."
So touching.

oh my god, so many moments....so many moments....
Funniest:
There were SO many. The three I remember off the top of my head:
1) The necklace Lavender gave him. Also the won-won thing.
2) Ron during the love potion. God, I was laughing so hard. Especially when Harry thinks Ron is talking about Lavender and how Ron's going to start calling her Lav-Lav. Ha ha, I loved that.

3) Harry imaging Ginny sobbing over his body at the Hospital Wing. That was H-I-L-A-R-I-O-U-S! And when Ginny was talking about how Ron had a tattoo of a Pgmy (sp? probably.) but didn't saw where.

Ginny is just so cool.
The best part:
The end. My eyes were literally GLUED to the page. I don't think I let out a single breath of air during those last couple of chapters. Dumbledores funeral was EXTREMELY well written. I was tearing up a bit. The whole thing was just so nice....so bittersweet. That was definitly my favorite part. Also I loved the thing with Tonks/Remus. That was just so sweet. They're perfect for each other.
Saddest part:
I think the funeral like I sad above. That was so sad, but there was also a different feeling to it. It was really well written. I loved that chapter.
v Ron and Hermione v
Jul 19 2005, 04:48 PM
The best part: When the centaurs shot their arrows on the funeral...
The saddest part: I thought it (obviously) was really sad when they had the funeral, but the saddest part was when you saw the memory from dumbledore when he first met voldemort at the orphanage. It was sad to see that he was already a lost case. he would never change...
The funniest part: the face on Mrs. Weasley when she saw the U-NO-POO sign... now that i think about it, the funniest part was
" 'Do you remember me telling you we are practising nonverbal spells, Potter?'
'Yes', said Harry stiffly.
'Yes sir.'
'There's no need to call me "sir", Professor."
I couldn't stop laughing...
miss know-it-all
Jul 19 2005, 05:13 PM
i think this is the funniest bit ever.i couldnt stop laughing.
"you'd think people had better things to gossip about,"said ginny,as she sat on the common room floor, leaning against harry's legs and reading the daily prophet."three dementor attacks in a week, and all romilda vane does is ask me if it's true you've got a hippogriff tattoed across you're chest."
ron and hermione both roared with laughter.harry ignored them.
"what did you tell her?"
"i told her it's a hungarian horntail,"said ginny,turning a page of the newspaper idly."much more macho."
"thanks,"said harry, grinning."and what did you tell her ron's got?"
"a pygmy puff,but i didn't say where.
the sadest bit was where snape killed dumbledore and where harry said he cant see her any more cuz of voldie(look bellatrix, look what i did to his name.come get me know!hahahahahahahah!).
and the best bit was where tonks admits her love for lupin.you rock tonks!whooohoooo!

Funniest: U-No-Poo. Classic. And then to use it later as a simile for the description of practicing nonverbal spells. Brilliant. I laughed both times.
Best bit: For me, it was when Harry DIDN'T put the Luck potion in Ron's drink before the Quidditch match. I actually cheered for Harry's brilliance. He showed himself to be a true Captain/leader.

The best part, hands down, was when Scrimgeour approached Harry at the funeral and he repeats that he is still "Dumbledore's man, through and through." That made me cry for ever!!!
Saddest part: When Hagrid is carrying Dumbledore's body at the funeral. It shows the ultimate amount of weakness for Dumbledore and just is incredibly symbolic. I bawled like a baby.
Funniest part: The pygmy puff tattoo!!!

Best Bits:
| QUOTE |
'He accused me of being "Dumbledore's man through and through"' 'How very rude of him.' 'I said I was.' Dumbledore opened his mouth to speak and then closed it again. Behind Harry, Fawkes the phoenix let out a low, soft, musical cry. To Harry's emense embarrassment, he suddenly realised that Dumbledore's bright blue eyes looked rather watery, and he stared hastily down at his own knees. |
PG. 334-335
| QUOTE |
'I see you are-' 'Dumbledore's man, through and through,' said Harry. ' That's right.' |
PG. 605
That part was awesome
| QUOTE |
'Kill me, then,' panted Harry, who felt no fear at all, but only rage and contemp."Kill me like you killed him, you coward-' 'DON'T -' screamed Snape, and his face was suddenly demented, inhuman, as though he was in as much pain as the yelping, howling dog stuck in the burning house behind them, '- CALL ME COWARD!' |
PG. 564
The above is especially good if Snape didn't actually murder Dumbledore, but did because Dumbledore told him to.
Sadest (they all fit into "best" too.)
| QUOTE |
As he lay there, he became suddenly aware that the grounds were quiet. Fawkes had stopped singing. And he knew, without knowing how he knew it, that the phoenix had gone, had left Hogwarts for good, just as Dumbledore had left the school, had left the world... had left Harry. |
PG. 589
The fact that Fawkes was crying was terribly sad, in additon to the above.
The overall funeral was excellent, you really felt it.
| QUOTE |
'Severus...' The sound frightened Harry beyond anything he had experienced all evening. Dumbledore was pleading. Snape said nothing, but walked forward and pushed Malfoy roughly out of the way. The three Death Eaters fell back without a word. Even the werewolf seemed cowed Snape gazed at Dumbledore for a moment, and there was hatred and revulsion etched in the harsh lines of his face. 'Severus... please...' Snape raised his wand and pointed it directly at Dumbledore. 'Avada Kedavra!' |
PG. 556
This one only applies to "best" as well if Snape is still good. It is, of course, terribly sad...

Yes, I was very shocked that Harry was just trying out spells, and he didn't even know what they were going to do.
I thought it was very funny when Ron misspelled all those words because of his not-so-well working quill. And Malfoy who said 'the one who scared, the chosen captain' was quite amusing. Oh and also Luna, commenting on the Quidditch match. I thought she was brilliant.
The saddest bit - Dumbledore murdered. It made me almost cry. Also, I found it very moving when Dumbledore told harry 'i'm not scared, I'm with you.'
The best bit - I really liked the memories and the lessons with Dumbledore.

Funniest- the u-no-poo sign.
Saddest- I couldn't believe it when Dumbledore died.

funniest: well geez, everytime Rowling talked about harry's "creature" in his chest. I mean, what the eff? it was hilarious.
saddest: harry breaking up with ginny. "it's for some stupid, noble reason isn't it?" i mean, dumbledore died and all, but c'mon, we all saw that coming. I thought that was more liberating than sad, because i loved dumbledore's character but harry needed to be on his own to finally do what he was meant to do. i was just sad that he finally had something that was making him happy, and he knew he had to let it go. i hope they wind up back together.
best...:...the inferi? i just think thats a wonderfully creepy idea. i also quite enjoyed luna lovegoods quidditch commentary, and it made me smile when ron and hermione assured harry they will be there for him.

The best parts were the new relationships. Harry kissing Ginny, Ron holding Hermione at the funeral, Bill and Phlegm, Tonks and Remus.
The funnier bits were at Fred and George's shop, Ron upside down in his pajamas. But the ABSOLUTE BEST part............pg 312 " Potty lurves Loony! Potty luuuuurves Looooooony!" I was laughing so hard my boyfriend thought I was mental.
While the whole murder and funeral of Dumbledore was terrible, the parts that brought me to tears were Harry leaving Ginny, Ron and Hermione's wllingness to go the distance with and for their friend and the following paragraph:
"His hand closed automatically around the fake Horcrux, but in spite of everything, in spite of the dark and twisting he saw stretching ahead of himself, in spite of the final meeting with Voldermort he knew must come, whether in a month, in a year, or in ten, he felt his heart lift at the thought that ther was still one last golden day of peace left to enjoy with Ron and Hermione." pg 653
These made me cry more because it made me hurt for Harry because it kind of shows how really alone he is in his destiny to confront Voldermort.
Nox.Lumos
Jul 20 2005, 05:25 AM
Saddest- A toss-up between when Harry has to force-feed DD, when DD asks Harry if he'll promise to leave Dumbledore and save himself if he was told to....and, when Dumbledore says, 'I am not worried Harry...I am with you.' Tears were shed on those parts.
Funniest- Luna's commentary was hilarious. As was the part with Snape and Harry, the 'sir' incident. That was funny. There are more, I'm sure...but I forget them.

Best- I really liked it when Harry pretended to give Ron the 'felix, when Ron finds out he did it on his own.
And, like Xandra pointed out...

Saddest;; I can't say it was when Dumbledore died because I saw that coming... It was how Dumbledore's death was effecting people. I think it has to be when Hagrid says that Dumbledore will find a way to fix it, and Harry had to tell Hagrid that he had died. I was also so sad when Tonks was trying to covince Lupin that it didn't matter that he was older, she still loved him. That almost made me cry.
Funniest;; I loved when Ron took the love potion on accident. I laughed so loud over that. Harry debating with himself about liking Ginny was hysterical too.
Overall Best;; Coming from a Ron/Hermione shipper, there were two GREAT parts. First one being:
| QUOTE |
'It's okay, we can fix it,' said Hermione, pulling the essay toward her and taking out her wand. 'I love you, Hermione,' said Ron, sinking back in his chair, rubbing his eyes wearily. Hermione turned faintly pink, but merely said, 'Don't let Lavender hear you saying that.' - HBP, American Version, page 449 |
Even if he didn't actually mean that he loved her, he'd still said those words. And the second was in the end at Dumbledore's funeral, Ron was holding Hermione and stroking her hair. That was so adorable. And then Lupin and Tonks holding hands; I was so happy that Tonks got through to Lupin in the end.
The whole book was great! I loved it.

well I think the funnest part is a tie.
1."do you remember me telling you we are practising non-verbalspells, Potter?"
"Yes," said Harry stiffly.
"Yes, sir
"There's no need to call me "sir". Professor."
I love that and...
2. "Thanks," said Harry, grinning. "And what did you tell her Ron's got?"
"A Pygmy Puff, but I didn't say where."
As for the saddest I would say after Harry has fineshed talking to Scrimgeour at the funeral of DD it mentions hagrid still weeping, I teared up when I read it.
And my favourite part was when at the very end Ron and Hermione said they would go with himOverall it was very good and I can't wait for #7

Favorite part (well, one of many):
| QUOTE |
Mrs. Weasley had eyes only for her eldest son; she began to sob, tears falling onto Bill's mutilated face.
"Of course, it doesn't matter how he looks. . . . It's not r-really important. . . but he was a very handsome little b-boy . . . always very handsome . . . and he was g-going to be married!"
"And what do you mean by zat?" said Fleur suddenly and loudly. "What do you mean, ' he was going to be married?'"
Mrs. Weasley raised her tear-stained face, looking startled. "Well -only that-"
"You theenk Bill will not wish to marry me anymore?" demanded Fleur. "You theenk, because of these bites, he will not love me?"
"No, that's not what I -"
"Because 'e will!" said Fleur, drawing herself up to her full height and throwing back her long mane of silver hair. "It would take more zan a werewolf to stop Bill loving me!"
"Well, yes, I'm sure," said Mrs. Weasley, "but I thought perhaps - given how - how he -"
"You thought I would not weesh to marry him? Or per'aps, you hoped?" said Fleur, her nostrils flaring. "What do I care how he looks? I am good-looking enough for both of us, I theenk! All these scars show is zat my husband is brave! And I shall do zat!" she added fiercely, pushing Mrs. Weasley aside and snatching the ointment from her.
Mrs. Weasley fell back against her husband and watched Fleur mopping up Bill's wounds with a most curious expression upon her face. Nobody said anything; Harry did not dare move. Like everybody else, he was waiting for the explosion.
"Our Great-Auntie Muriel," said Mrs. Weasley after a long pause, "has a very beautiful tiara - goblin-made - which I am sure I could persuade her to lend you for the wedding. She is very fond of Bill, you know, and it would look lovely with your hair."
"Thank you," said Fleur stiffly. "I am sure zat will be lovely."
And then, Harry did not quite see how it happened, both , women were crying and hugging each other. Completely bewildered, wondering whether the world had gone mad, he turned around: Ron looked as stunned as he felt and Ginny and Hermione were exchanging startled looks. |
Long quote, I know, but it was really touching.
Saddest part: The Cave through The White Tomb. I couldn't stand it; I was sobbing the whole time.

The saddest bit was when everyone was crowding around Dumbledores body & Harry thinks something like: "There it is, the greatest wizard he knew & ever would know, dead."
I though the whole chapter 'The Cave' was the best bit.
The funniest bit was Ron finally realising Hermionie & Harry have both had action & he hadn't.

The funniest: romilda vane givin harry the candies and ron ate them finally.
The saddest: dumbledore's funeral, when harry realised that he IS gone.
The best: Harry carrying Dumbledore and helping HIM. When he apparated, without properly even taking the exam or learning how to do it.

One thing I thought was, I guess more clever than funny was when Slughorn kept calling Ron by the wrong name and at one point he calls him Rupert - which is (haha) the name on the actor that plays Ron! Very cute JKR!
That whole part after Harry had taken the Felix Felicis was really good! I could just imagine Hagrid and Slughorn sitting there slowly getting drunker and singing and all!
I also liked the times when Harry keeps getting a whiff of some flowery smell and it turns out to by Ginny. On a side note... I don't think Harry and Ginny will actually stay apart for long! (or at least I hope not...)
The saddest part I guess had to be Dumbledore's funeral.

the HBP kinda revealed itself when snape caught harry and malfoy dueling. snape is kinda a potions master and a DADA teacher, the peices all fell together with his emotions to harry about finding out about that slashing spell, serspectum? I never thought snape could kill dumbledore, i didint tihnk jkr would kill of dumbledore to the ending of the series, but hey, its the climax...

Hi, mgnidovec3! Welcome to the forums! Unfortunately, your post has very little to do with this thread. If you want to discuss the Half-Blood Prince, do so
here.Anyway, here's what I think:
Funniest part: That this book was written.
Saddest part: That J.K. Rowling did it.
Best part: That the book finally ended.
So any, there's my... What? I can't have those? Fine, fine, but I'm still keeping them up there.
Funny part: The U-No-Poo was probably the only marginal humorous thing in the book for me, so I guess it was funny.
Saddest Part: Would have to be that Harry forgot that Sirius died so fast.
Best Part: The time in the pensieve, before Merope went off with Tom Riddle.
Wishing you more,

Funny: The funniest parts for me was the whole love potion scene with Ron. At first I thought he was talking about Hermione then when he started going on about Romilda Vane I kept on looking back trying to figure out what was going on till I finally figured it out...also I would have to say the canary scene and when Harry overheard the conversation Ron and Hermione were having during Herbology.
Best: The best parts probably consisted of Fleur still wanted to marry Bill even though he was mutilated and looked like Moody without the glass eye and peg leg... and the whole scene with Draco and Dumbledore, which showed us a little of who Draco truly is...I also got a kick out of Ron getting jeolous of Harry over Hermione.

"Did you really tell him (Slughorn) I'm the best in the year? Oh, Harry!" "Well, what's so impressive about that?" whispered Ron, who for some reason looked annoyed. You are the best in the year--I'd've told him so if he'd asked me!" "Hermione smiled but made a "shhing" gesture, so that they could hear what Slughorn was saying. Ron looking slightly disgruntled. |

"Oh come on, Harry," said Hermione, suddenly impatient. "It's not Quidditch that's popular, it's you! You've never been more interesting, and frankly, you've never been more fanciable." Ron gagged on a large piece of kipper. Hermione spared him one look of disdain before turning back to Harry.--- ---"Andyou've been through all that persecution from the Ministry when they were trying to make out you were unstable and a liar. You can still see the marks on the back of your hand where that evil woman made you write with your own blood, but you stuck to your story anyway..." "You can still see where those barins got hold of me in the Ministry, look," ssaid Ron, shaking back his sleeves. "And it doesn't hurt that you've grown about a foot over the summer either," Hermione finished, ignoring Ron. "I'm tall," said Ron inconsequentially. |

Sad:I was warned on July 15th that Snape killed Dumbledore so that wasn't very sad in the end for me seeing as I was expecting it but overall what was really sad I think is that in this book everyone that Harry has ever been in contact with something bad is happening to them and he is not powerful enought to do anything about it, yet.
(Dumbledore, Sirius, Mr. Ollivander, Florean Fortescue, Amelia Bones, Emmeline Vance, Stan Shunpike, Madam Rosmerta, Aragog...lol)

The funniest for me would have to be...loads of scenes! The "mollywobbles", to U-NO-POO. Luna commentating on Quidditch, to Ginny telling Romilda Vane about the tattoos...Ron taking the love spell. "No need to call me sir, professor".. As you can see or read, I'm the worst at picking..
The saddest, of course, is Dumbledore dying, and the funeral. I hated Dumbledore telling Harry to kill him.. I felt so uncomfortable at that point..
The best part would have to be Harry saying Dumbledore's man through and through. That was so awesome!! Heh, and the I loved the funeral, even though it was sad. And, the trio's talk at the end of the funeral.

Funniest: Weasley's wizarrd wheezes
Saddest: When Dumbledore was begging Snape for his life. It was just so pathetic that he was old and helpless and Snape just sneered and killed him.
Best: When Harry kissed Ginny in front of everyone!

Best: Lots of bests out there, but I want to point out something I thought was really awesome: Harry performing a side-along apparation with Dumbledore. I know it is at a really emotional part of the book so a lot of people don't think much of it. Harry had only barely learned to apparate, far from natural at it. It just goes to show that Harry is more powerful he thinks, especially when he is trying to save someone he cares about. Along the apparation lines, the phamplet the ministry sends out to all wizarding families talks about practicing side along apparation so you can save your children. So not even all licensed Apparators can do this without practice.
Funniest: Has to be when Harry says. "You don't have to call me sir." I couldn't believe he said that, I had to reread it to make sure I was getting it right. Hilarious!
Sad: Harry telling Ginny he couldn't be with her. Though I don't think the seperation will last forever, it just really got to me when Ginny was saying how she didn't care about the danger.

The best: WHEN HARRY KISSED GINNY!!! I was waiting for that kiss since so long..... I just couldn't believe he had the balls to do that infront of so many people!!! It was definitively my favourite part of the book.
The funniest: when Ginny told Harry, Ron and Hermione that she said Romilda Vane that Harry had a Hungarian Horntail tattooed across his chest and Ron a Pygmy Puff!!! Or the "U_NO_POO" thing.
The saddest: "The White Tomb". I just couldn't stop crying!!! I cried during the whole chapter....Not only because of Dumbledore, but also because of all the loyal Harry proves telling the Prime Minister those things, and of course, the beautiful things that Ron and Hermione telled Harry.... I felt so terrible...

Funny: Ginny's comment to Ron about kissing Pigwidgeon or having a hidden picture of Aunt Muriel in his Pillow
Sad: When Harry had to break the news to the people in the Hospital Wing around Bill's bed. I have to admit, I have never cried while reading a book or during a movie or whatever, but I chocked up when I read that.
Best: Best for me comes down to two parts for no particular reason.
One is when Dumbledore tells the story of him turning down Riddle for the DADA position, and revealing that the position is, in fact cursed.
The other would be when he was explaining how the prophecy has no inherent meaning in itself, but was only set into motion because Voldemort acted on it.
Those two moments were like lightbulbs going off for me while I was reading.

Definitely, for me at least, its too hard to pick just one of each funniest, best, and saddest parts, respectively, but i'll have a go at what I can try to narrow them down to.
Funniest: Who doesnt appreciate some love-drugged chocolates gone askew?

The fact that Ron mistakenly ate some of Harry's Romilda spiked candy was the icing in the cake so to speak, for Lavender, I think. Romilda herself though seems like some obscure character. I mean, I know Harry is all of a sudden desirable, but she in particular throws herself at him.....why her? Shes unmentioned until this book...weird.
Saddest: Everyone knows this one, of course. A tie between Snape killing Dd and Dd's funeral. I myself, couldnt help but choke up and cry.....he was one awesome man.
Best: Ok because I'm human, that part of me will have to say when Dumbledore is depending on Harry to help him back out of the Horcrux cave (my quote) and because Im a girl, also up there is when Harry kisses Ginny for the first time. I know theres nothing particularly artistic in its composition, as was in the Dd/Harry situation, but it had particular impact on myself because im a **** for any kind of romantic relationship...ohwell.
I also think there should be a new section added to this thread....the biggest WTF moment...and in regards to that sentiment:
Biggest WTF moment: When Snape makes the Unbreakable Vow in the Spinner's End chapter.
WTF?!

The funniest moment was probably at the end when they were talking about the tattoo.
The saddest moment was probably when DD fell off the tower and died.
The best moment was probably when they were going to retreive the Horcrux.

Funniest: Man I can't remember, I think it was at the beginning. It was one of those things that weren't meant to be funny, but because of something that happened to me it was funny. But I can't remember what that was....
Saddest: I cannot stand children or teenagers being abused, I could barely get through Meropes part, I don't cry a lot, but my stomach just clenched up. It was bad, really bad...
The Best: I think all the "aha" parts were the best, like finding out about the horcruxes or who would die, or actually who the HBP was was the greatest for me., or whether Harry would pass OWLS. All the things we've wondered about, some even throughout the whole series, and were answered.

i'm in the middle of my second reading and i have been spotting some really hilarious and downright amazing scenes in the book. One in particular is the scene in Herbology where Hermione said that she was going to ask Ron to go to Slughorn's party with her. I was really amazed that Hermione finally had the guts to go through with that. I felt that that scene was really sweet because people have been waiting for the whole Ron-Hermione thing for a looooong time! But at the same time I felt for Harry because I guess he felt awkward about the situation and I understood what he was saying about if they were to break up or become like Bill and Fleur (ahem Phlegm).
My point is that part is amazing writing (isn't all of the book?) to be able to convey the reality of the situation and properly make readers (at least me) feel what it would feel if that were to happen to them.

for me...
funniest- the sir thing with snape and when hermoine attacked ron witht he birds, i could just see the birds chasing him around the room. Also the molly wobbles, or something like that, and when hermoine was stressing about the OWL results
saddest- dumbledores death and funeral (obviously) and also when luna asked harry if theyd have the DA and when he says no she says it was the closest thing to having friends
best- the best would be the cave, i thought it was relaly actiony
also when fleur said that shed still marry bill even though he had the bites

Best part of the entire book, by far, was the line when Dumbledore says he isn't worried, he's with Harry. I think thats the best part because it seems the other way around the entire series and Harry always feels safe when he's with Dumbledore. And than Dumbledore just seems so confident in Harry it's really a good part.
Other parts that were good were all the ones with Harry thinking about Ginny. I think so because when I first heard the Harry\Ginny idea I was like that would just be flat out dumb. But Jk. Rowling is such a good writer that it could have been Luna and Harry and she would of made it seem right.

And the third almost made me cry, on page 540, when Dumbledore says to Harry: 'I am not worried, Harry', said Dumbledore, his voice a little stronger despite the freezing water. 'I am with you.' |
Oh, Oh, so so true. I did cry when I read that. Actually, I'm halfway through the book a second time, and at the very start of chapter 4: 'Horace Slughorn', there is this:
Dumbledore: 'However, I do not think you need to worry about being attacked tonight'
Harry: 'Why not sir?'
Dumbledore: 'You are with me'.
I love the whole role reversal, at the start 'You are with me' and at the end 'I am with you'.
So achingly beautiful I'm in tears again :'(
It just shows, 100%, Dumbledore's demise, and faith in Harry.
OTHERWISE...
Saddest: Seeing the greatest wizard in the world plead to Severus, my heart broke at that moment.
Powerful too, but affected me less was when Dumbledore was drinking the potion, and yelling 'Make it stop...KILL ME!'
Funniest: At the 'Slug Club' Christmas party, when Worple notices Sanguini the vampire edging towards the group of giggling girls, and decides to keep Sanguini busy by handing him a pasty. Chuckled for ages about this one!
Best Bit: As sad as it was, my favourite bit was when Dumbledore died. I cried continuously for three chapters.
Thanks for taking the time to read this :-)
