this intro of a new evil character suprised me because he is so bad i mean killing little kids even when he isnt a wolf? i think JK made him so bad so he made an impression in our minds so there is going to be a battle between him and the order next book but what is going to happen? who will finally kill him? maby ron will to avenge bill or maby lupin to avenge himself? i dont think it will be harry so he would be a enemy for ron to go for while harry is with voldy or snape in the next book. but i dont have my book and i am just wondering what are some of your thouhghts on him? also what about bill what is going to happen to him he wont be a ture wolf but will he every attack people?

I don't think Greyback will be a central focus, but something horrifying on the side that could always come into play, like the Inferti in HBP-all that buildup, and we see them in one scene. I think Bill is going to be fine-but it would be a good but depressing plot twist if everything seems okay, and then he's suddenly a werewolf.

what surprised me about greyback was that when he found out that lupin was in the order then why didnt he attack him immediatly? i mean surely he would like to have gotten his revenge...eekh and he kills children? i hope lupin and bill get greyback in the next book.

I think (my opinion here) that the more people an alpha werewolf 'converts' into beta werewolves, the more powerful they become physically and socially. Fenrir is the most fearsome werewolf of modern times because he embraces his feral nature over his human predisposition and teaches the werewolves he has bitten and raised to despise their humanity. So if Bill and Lupin attempt to kill Greyback, his physical power and ferocity would be tremendous, not to mention possibly hundreds of werewolves who see him as their father.
We don't know if Greyback attacked Lupin, but is Fenrir able to use magic?

Yah I bet that Lupin and Ron with both together defeat Greyback. Kind of like Vader killing the Emperor, Lupin will help because he's out to kill the werewolf that bit him, and to show that all werewolfs aren't bad. Ron will help to avenge Bill being bitten. If not Ron, than I am fairly certain that one of the Weasley's will help Lupin.

Greyback was one of the first characters that had been introduced that actually made me shiver. He just seems so evil. Even so, I hope that he does feature in book 7 because to introduce a character that fierce and then not bring him back is wrong to me.
I also hope that Lupin gets his revenge Greyback for being the wolf that bit him and basically ruining his whole life - he can't get a job and hardly any one trusts him- all because that one man chose to ruin his life due to Lupin's father offending him.
I do think that at least one of the Weasley's should have something to do with Greyback's downfall, just for what he has done to Bill. Maybe even Fleur will do something to him for attacking her fiance.

There was a theory by other people that Wormtail's silver hand may foreshadow him killing Lupin. I think, according to the theory, there is something in mythology or other books about silver hands being useful for killing werewolves. Now that Greyback has been introduced, it seems possible that Wormtail might kill Greyback. After all, he still has his debt to pay to Harry. Maybe he will do that by killing Greyback before Greyback hurts Harry.

I have to say that introducing a totally vicious character like greyback was a great way to bring this story up to a different level. Stephen King should be proud. The very concept of a werewolf gone insane and killing children is a whole barrel of worms JK opened and I can just hear it now...the parents of young children complaining eveywhere. Of course, we read them "Little Red Riding Hood". And the Big bad wolf eats peple too. Only Little Red Riding Hood beats him in the end. Perhaps we should look for our own Litle Red Riding hood?

I like the idea of a battle between Greyback and Lupin. I think at full moon Greyback will attack someone, and Lupin -also transformed- will fight him. I just imagine the spectacular scene - the battle of the werewolves. Lupin has his revenge, and also proves that "werewolves aren't all bad".
(To be honest, when I'm reading a book, I always imagine how it would look like in a movie, perhaps that's why I like the idea)

Greyback, as we know, is the most ruthless werewolf ever. He stragises on everyone of his victums. Since Greyback did bit Lupin, that would give good reason that Lupin should be the one to kill him. I don't think so though. Lupin has had his chances to kill him and hasn't. I don't think that Lupin is the type of person that would kill something or something just because he had a reason to (not counting Wormtail). Like Greyback i think Lupin will help stragise and ideas on where and when to finish Greyback off but Lupin personally won't kill him. I think this is when we will see a Weasley do the killing, perhaps Mrs.Weasley but thats just a thought i haven't thought it out fully and I usually do but I've been busy so when I do I'll give more explanation to this theroy.

Lupin told Harry at christmas that it was GreyBack who bit him, I don't have the book with me, so can't tell you the quote but it's in 'A very frosty Christmas' i think that's what the chapters called. Or did you mean at the end of the book?

Yeah, me too, *shiver* he really is evil, it's not just that he kills kids, it's he also ruins some of their lives (in some aspects becoming a werewolf may well be a fate worse than death)
I hope that Lupin gets his vengence, I don't know how he could stand to be in the same room as the man that made him what he is.

I thought his introduction into the story was far too late, as I'm becoming a bit of a fan.
I like the way that he's very very bad (I reserve evil for Voldemort only) but this may be primarily down to his condition. I get the feeling he feels no loyalty and serves no master - like the dementors, he is essentially a mercenary.
Is there a chance for redemption? Probably not, but the story is much more unpredictable, and therefore exciting, with him in it.

So ( just my opinoin here) i don't think greyback will be a center focus but i also don't think he'll be completely casted out there. I don't know why people assume ron will avendge ( sps?) bills attack i think bill is perfectly capable of doing so himself. But i do agree on the ever popular theory that lupin will , in some way, " get revenge" on greyback for biteing him when he was little.

i really think that greyback is so evil he loves killing more than life itself

he is a major spy and a super jerk in my opinion

if greyback turns any more evil he will be equal to voldemort

Fenrir deserves worse than any and every punishment. He is one of the Death Eaters that are almost as bad as Voldemort himself. He is as evil as Bellatrix. I certainly hope someone gives him the punishment that will end his attacks.
I'm in conflicting views. I don't see Lupin killing Greyback, and then I think about all of lupin's complexities and emotions in him we have seen and then I think that there is a high possibility that, even if he doesn't kill him, he at least might want revenge.
I have two things to show to support the latter.
Firstly, in PoA, he and Sirius wanted revenge on Wormtail, and they both were more than ready to kill him. Not dear ol' Lupin's best side but you can't blame him. This shows that Lupin has the ability to bring himself to kill for revenge (Though this was, granted, a very different situation).
Secondly, in HBP Lupin said to harry that, before he found out who bit him, he felt pity for the werewolf because he knew a werewolf can't conrtol what they do. Then he says "But Greyback's not like that". His opinion changed when the facts changed. Could his emotions also change? Probably.
Just for your interest, I know an internet buddy who absulutely ADORES Greyback. I mean head over heels, the whole way, more than just friends, "let's get physical", etc.
It's quite scary.

and get the girl

"and get the girl"...at the risk of sounding stupid, you mean Tonks, right?
It would be cool to see a little more of Lupin's more hateful side, I think. I can just imagine shooting him down with the avada kedavra. but only defending himself or another.
some reckon greyback's going to kill Tonks (I don't know why) and that lupin'll seek revenge.
A little melodramatic, perhaps? (No, you think...?)

In one way Lupin does feel sorry for Geyback, because he is a werewol. He attacked Lupin as a small child and Lupin can sympathize with Greyback on not being able to control oneself. But Lupin has learned to control himself and does not do any harm to anyone, unlike Greyback who does not care. He attacked Bill when he was in Human form, so he has crossed a line that Lupin has not. I am thinking that if killing the head werewolf is like killing the head vampire, then if Lupin kills Greyback, all half werewolves will return to normal, and Lupin himself may have some normalcy about him. It is just a thought however.

I was thinking, what if Wormtail uses his silver hand?
This way, he fulfills the debt he owes Harry and his silver hand ties in.
Greyback will probably be fighting in the last battle. What if Harry is traipsing across the battle field to find Voldy, when Greyback pops out of nowhere and tries to finish Harry off. Then, Wormtail comes in and gets bitten instead of Harry and plunges his silver hand into Greyback and kills him. Thus he redeems himself (well, sorta) and Greyback dies.
Is that a bit far fetched?

Yeah I think that Lupin will kill him or more importantly, can werewolves die? I mean Greyback has bitten many many innocent children including Lupin. You’d think that someone would take revenge on him and kill him but no one has. We haven’t even heard of an attempt (then again, he really isn’t that big of a character). If Greyback CAN die then I would say Lupin would probably try to kill him.

yup, i agree, the only person, who deserves the great pleasure of killing greyback is lupin. I mean come on, fenrir practically ruined his childhood. But the thing that has me thinking is whether lupin will really have the heart to do it. Because, since he was a werewolf, his friends became animagi, making them even closer, so will lupin will the heart to kill greyback?
