No. Chances are nobody will know until for another year and a half. JKR dosen't even know. She has to start writing, and that isn't gonna be for another half a year I believe I read somewhere.

My guess would be either summer of '07 or '08. It depends on when she starts writing. If she starts early '06, she might be able to make it by the summer of '07, but probably winter. Anyways, we aren't going to be seeing the next book for at least 2 years, probably 3.

JKR said that she was going to try for an '07 release, and I would assume that it would be in the summer like the other six books. I like the 7/7/07 theory!

i wish she had released 6 and 7 together. then i wouldn't have suffered with the cliffhanger ending of # 6. i hope 7 takes no more than 2 years.

that would be really cool if she did the 7/7/07 release, it just seems like such a long time... i can't wait! at least we get to see a new harry potter movie or two while were waiting

book 6 only took two years after book 5 came out, so hopefully she might be consistant. but then again it took 3 for book 5 after book 4. i guess it all depends upon the length, which i'm guessing will be nice and long. hopefully, longer than book 5. but then i would have to sleep before i finished it.

i'm dying to read the seventh book... it's the end Harry potter ... i'm 15 and i've been reading hp for about 5 or 6 years and when it ends it will be sad...

I don't know about the exact date of the release -- it depends on so many factors, including things involving the publication that are completely beyond JKR's control -- but at the moment, I'm thinking summer 2007. I certainly hope it's during the summer... so I'm not all bogged down with school at the time of the release.

I'd personally be very, very surprised if we had to wait until 2008. Based on Book Six and some of JKR's answers in interviews about how her life will be different after HP, I get the impression that she is starting to want the series to end. I don't think it will be the sort of drawn out, protracted wait that happened between GoF and OotP, nor do I think it will be as long as Book Five. Bit of a disappointment to the fans (who want a nice, long wait to theorize and then a HUGE final book), but I have to admit I see where she's coming from... I expect I'd be getting a little sick of it, too, if I'd been writing the same book for fifteen or however many years. Dude, that's most of my life!

Nevertheless, I think I'd prefer a summer 2008 release to summer 2007. It would be summer after my sophomore year, so I would still be in school, but not yet thinking about thesis and such...

I know what you mean about the end of the series being really sad, juans90... I've also been a fan for a long time -- almost exactly seven years, in fact -- and I feel like I suddenly won't know what to do with myself when the books are over! It really is quite pathetic.

i've read a recent JKR interview where she confirms R.A.B. to be Regulus Black and claims to have already started writing the book. Though she said it should not be longer than OoTP *sigh..* Also, she has planned everything, so qriting it down remains only.

Ya, but the biggest problem I have with the 7/7/07 release is this, its on the rowling website thats shes already done writing book 7. I already know that last word of the 7th book will be scar, not that thats proof that its done, but she says in answer to a fan question. The problem is that she claims she still wants to edit it more. So, who knows how long that will take.....

no one knows for sure. i doubt jkr has even decided the date herself yet, and it won't be announced for a looonnnngg time.

I think it will probebly be released in the summer months like the last two books are. I hope they are coming soon, because i cant wait!

Seeing as how HBP ended at such an intense cliff-hanger , I seriously can't wait for the seventh and final book where everything will meets it dramatic conclusion.

But as for the release date, I pray to God that it comes out in 2006 but I know that that isn't going to happen. But if it does come out in 2007, I think my attentions will be divided.

At that time I'll be doing my GCSEs so I don't think I'll have time to read it, but you never know...

Actually, J.K. said herself that she's already finished writing the seventh book in an interview. But she predicts that it'll be out in about a couple of years. She says she hasn't started writing it officially yet. So she's sort of got the outline, if you know what I mean.

Well, I think I've read the interview you're talking about, Jen. It said that she held up a folder to the person who was interviewing her, and that was like the final chapter or the epilogue. I thought that she was going to start writing the actual first chapter sometime in December.
She's probably too busy with David and Mcanzie (there's no way I spelled that right ) to have finished it, since HBP just came out this year! I'm fine with 7/7/07, just as long as it's not 7/7/77.. *cringes*

Please note, this topic has been pinned as I'm expecting that over the next year there will be many threads opening asking when the release date is. In the clean up that has been occurring in the last week, I've found 4 different threads around the place so far.

There is NO news yet, but I'm sure people will be kept up to date with any news that occurs.

These books are not just growing haphazardly. JKR always planned to do 7 books. She always knew how the 7th book was going to end. She's been working toward the ending of the 7th book since before she finished the outline of book 1.

So, she's known almost the exact plot since she finished book 6. She's known, probably, all of the characters since she started book 6, including the new 1 or 2 we haven't seen before.

All that is missing is certain connecting details, and the dialog (which for most of us would be the hardest part to write.)




On the other hand, cramming all that must still be said into just one book looks almost impossible to me.

I think she has a complete draft already written, but it is too long, and now the cutting begins...

[I've] been reading around the threads and everyone keeps saying diffrent things i like the 7-7-07 one becuase it would be ironic, i have read some other theorys that when we know the relase date of the 5th movie the 7th book should come out before that becuase of the whole RAB conflict, and that JKR would release the book so that [people]. l get a chance to read it before the movie can tell you. So i hope so.

According to the HP Lexicon their is a tentative release date. It is July 7th 2007.

Yeah, on another site it was saying what a massive oppurtunity it is to relese it, as 7 is such a powerful number.
Its a Saturday, and when it is released aat midnight in UK, it will be 7 in America.
On JK's site, in the diary bit, it says what she thought would take 2 chapters will now take 4, but I'm sure it will be ready in time.
Its the BIGGEST advertising/publishing campaign you could wish for.

I hate being so conformist, but i have to go for the seventh of July two thousand and seven aswell. I mean it seems logical dosn't it ? But i suppose all the other dates have been relatively random, so who knows...

As far as the release date, I'll start off with a big range and get more specific. I think most of us can agree it'll probably be either Summer or 2007 or 2008. I'm betting on, and hoping on, 2007. And as far as Summer, I'm thinking July. Especially because from book 4 on they've been released in July. Also, from then on it's always been on a Saturday. So, I say a Saturday of July 2007. At any rate 07/07/07 could definitely be a possibility. I needa look up on see what day of the week that is. Anyway, it also depends on how long it is. OotP (the longest book) took 3 years while every other book has taken no more than two. I say, if it's 750-800pgs.(which is how long I think it'll be) she could do it in two years. But, any longer than that and it might take 3.

07/07/07 is tthe first Saturday in july of that year. If it is released next year, That is probably the date.

I was a big believer of the 7/7/7 theory when I first heard it, considering OOTP and HBP have been middle of the year releases, 7 being the magical number etc... UNTIL I heard the OOTP movie release date, which is less than a week later (13/7 I believe).

I find it hard to believe that they would release the book and the movie with less than a week between them. The hype and everything would just be incredible, but it would all be there and then gone.

I can see them dragging it out for a little longer. So if it's a Summer release, I'm thinking it will be early June or maybe if we're lucky even end of May.

However otherwise I think it will come out in time for Christmas.

Sure 7/7/07 would be a great date but what do you prefer^

Kings Cross Station, where they catch the Hogwarts Express, was part of what happened that day. And I know that Jo Rowling has more integrity and intelligence and consideration than to release her book on July 7.

Yes, it's a terrible thing that has happened. HOWEVER- things aren't going to stop because of it. Stuff has continued to be released on September 11th. And I can see a lot of good- in terms of service, charity fundraising etc to come out of having a release on 7/7 at Kings Cross- it's called support and 'moving on'


However this thread is supposed to be for speculation of release dates. If that is the date that people want to speculate- I would kindly ask that you please let them.

Well, I think that it will come out on a solstice.I don't know which one it will be; summer or winter, but I don't think that that matters. I do have evidence to support my theory. In the fifth book at the DoM, two prophesies smash and you hear part of each. The first one says; "...at the Solstice will come a new..." The second one says; "...and none will come after..." When you put them together it says 'At the Solstice will come a nwe and none will come after.' Cleverly hinting at a release date for Book 7 in the fifth book does not sound unlike JKR.

i'd looove the book to come out on the 7th of july in 2007, but...well, i dunno... the 5th movie's so short after, so i somehow don't think it will be then... maybe in august 2007...after the movie...? but i really hope it will be during the summer holidays! then i could go there and attend a midnight-party!

I keep having this feeling that the release date should be out anytime now, probably not til september or something, but sheesh. Every time Veritaserum page loads up I wait patiently to see if today is the day we will have a concrete date. I know it takes mere seconds to load the page, but I still wait anxiously.
Anyone else just itching to know when it will be released? I know we all have our guesses, and 7-7-07 would be a great day to have it come out!! I hope she does keep that date because it is significant. And it would be a date I bet no one would forget. A Jeopardy question in the making!
