Watching the trailers for HP & the GoF, I thought that Viktor Krum was basically supposed to be ugly, but he's not. He's actually pretty attractive. I also find the Cedric Diggory was supposed to be very handsome but, I dont feel that Robert Pattinson fits the role well, based on physical features. Maybe I'm wrong. But JUDGING from the trailer, this is how I feel. Possibly my feelings will change once I see the movie. Does anyone agree or disagree?

yet another one.
A movie is NEVER the same as the book. Also, not everybody is the same. Somebody else might find him **** ugly, while others fall in love with him immediatly. It just depends from person to person. Same with fleur, they can never do good for everybody.
But indeed, he's not that ugly. But he looks so much like the guy who is billing at the cantine at work

I completely agree with Lynn, Krum is also more my type than Cedric, and Cedric is supposed to be very handsome and attractive.
This is just something based on your personal prefer, There will be enough people around here in whos opinion Krum is ugly.

I feel compelled to put my two cents in here

I actually pictured Krum in a very similar way to the one they have in the movie. I remember him being described as 'surley and duckfooted on the ground' but I cant remember them saying he was ugly. Infact because he was so popular I had the destinct impression that he would be attractive in his own way. He may not look as elegant on the ground as he does on his broom but I was sure the fact that girls were persuing him so relentlessly, tittering in his presence, that he would be handsome, but in a 'bad-boy' kind of way, and I think Stan definately has that!
Cedric, well the only real thing that struck me was that he wasn't as fair as he was descibed in the books, but I think he is still very handsome, and I'm sure if he had attended my school when I was younger he would have been on the 'idols' list amongst the girls in the younger years. He's really very cute.
Fleur? I'm a tiny bit concerned over how thin she looks, only because it does detract from her overall attractiveness in the second task when she is seen in her bathers. I hope on film they are right and it really does add ten pounds, she looks as if she could do with it! As for her face, I think she is rather beautiful, quite angelic. It will be interesting to see how she scrubs up in the Yule Ball scene.
Overall, I think they have gone with very realistic choices. I mean the last thing we need is to feel like we've dropped in on a Ken and Barbie reunion when we sit down to watch Goblet of Fire.

yeah, well said. I think Fleur, in the movie, is really pretty, but i imagined her to be more veela then what I saw. With silky white blond hair and all. But I agree. I think the producers have done a realistic job with picking the cast OVERALL. I think, i'm still judging Fleur too fast. I'm sure my opinion will change when I see the movie.

Sorry to revitalise a rather old topic now, but I don't think what I have to say justifies an entirely new thread, so...

Stanislav, Robert and Katie were on 'Saturday Morning Showdown' this morning, and you know something...Stan and Robert are pretty darn attractive guys. I can't believe I didn't notice it before...probably because I was too busy getting wound up about the Snape scenes and everything that had been cut, but honestly, Stan in particular got me quite hot under the collar

He's so sweet!! He was like a little lost soul on that show, I think it kind of bewildered him a bit....you know what kids morning shows are like

Gunge, running around a lot, loud presenters, nervous kids on the phone-ins...but he weathered it very well, in fairness, considering I don't think he quite understood a lot of what was going on...and what a wonderful voice he has! Quite a rival to Alan Rickman's actually, and that's really saying something.

Maybe it's the accent, I don't know, but there was just something about him that I found incredibly attractive and I'm now looking at Krum, and the whole film actually, in quite a different light !

The casting of the three champions wasn't so bad after all...
Ah, I'm so fickle, aren't I? *sighs and goes off to skip through all the Snape/Cedric/Krum parts*

Yeah, I get the point you're making. He was described as surly and duckfooted in the book, and Hermione was the one that said he wasn't even good looking. I'm not sure if it was JKR's plan to portray Krum as ugly in the book, but in the movie in my opinion he sure was attractive and handsome! I also thought that Cedric was less handsome than he was supposed to be and was in the book, but I wouldn't call him ugly.
Yep, Fleur looked very different than what was described in the book. She wasn't supposed to look like a "normal girl", and in my opinion she did. (Not that she wasn't pretty.) She was just supposed to look like a veela. I don't know how they would have found someone like a veela, though, especially when in the movie they didn't even show any.

Meh, I think he was really good for the part actually. Yeah I did think he was supposed to be kind of ugly, but I really think he just played the part well for being his first film too!

I always imagined Krum to have hair like Tom Felton in PoA except greasier and black. Then his eyebrows like small bushes, and having a slight hunchback. The film was completely different to how I imagined.

I don't think he's good looking. I think he's almost a perfect Krum. Although he's not slouchy and grouchy enough. He seems too happy in the movie. Plus he looks way too old to still be in school, so the age thing didn't help much. Not that he should have been younger but he looks a tad too old to be playing a 17/18 year old.
Cedric also didn't fit my image of him. He wasn't good looking enough. I had imagined a guy too gorgeous to be real with nothing inside his head. And airhead model, that's what I was picturing.

He didn't look exactly like I pictured him. He was big and had a somewhat square face but I expected him to be uglier and have a deformed nose from playing Quidditch. The book illustrations also made him look so ugly.
Cedric was cute.

Could it be because I watched the movie before reading the books? I don't know, but I thought Krum from the movie was very similar to the one of the book.
And Cedric from the movie? yeah he is good looking. If I had to choose between them, I'd go for Cedric.

Yeah, he shouldnt me so smiling as he was.
I thought he was supposed to be taller and thinner, and have more hair at his head for the matter of fact. And he liked the fame at the World Cup too much. It said very clearly that he didn’t like the fame and couldn’t walk on the ground. He could that in the movies. I didn’t like him and was actually a bit disappointed.

I didn't think Viktor Krum was that cute...but the way they described it in the book I thought he would be uglier, but besides that he did kinda fufill the role of walking duck footed, or something like that......

I thought he was supposed to have longer hair, guess I should go and read the book again. I also thought he was supposed to talk to Hermione more, but unfortunatley that rarely happened in the movie. I was kind of looking for forward to him saying "Hermyoonie" or what have you.

After seeing the trailers my friend and I described Krum as a 'pumpkin-head' when our friend said she thought he was fit. I found it quite funny when in the film Ron says to Harry 'He's such a pumpkin-head' but its true....unfortunatley i think he looks rather pumpkin-ish.
As for Cedric, he was soo fit! I really liked him, he was hotter than I imagined when i was reading the book so that was a big thumbs up for the casting people =] He didn't deserve to die he was that hot!.
Fleur was so pretty but i think she was, as people have said, a bit plain. They should have made her more stand-outish , like if you saw her in a crowd she I wouldn't be like '*gasp* that girl is gorgeous!'

Well I don't know whether anyone else is thinking this but Stanislav Ianevski isn't particularly good looking. He looks kinda like a viking if you ask me. Which supports my other theory that he looks way too...I don't know.. heavy (I don't want to say fat)... to be a seeker, an international seeker no less. Cedric Diggory's actor, Robert whatsit, wasn't bad. He was a little too feminine perhaps.

I found this choice a very interesting one. He is very different from what I had imagined and also from Jo's ddescription but he did a great job anyway.
