the reason snapes worst memory is my favourite because
harry goes through the pensieve and sees what happens to snape
by the taunting and bullying of his father and what they did at school those many years ago.Mabe i like this chapter because harry goes back in time,and not just me but harry feels for snape for the very first time.

my favourite chapter is Dumbledore's Army

End of "The Centaur and the Sneak" that's amusing... and the end of "Career Advice"... Oh yes, very rebellious and angsty.

Snape's Worst Nightmare is still my favorite chapter because it gives us insight into what Snapes life was like as a teen, and why he is how he now is. It also shows us more about James, Sirius, Lupin, Lily and Peter and I like how we get to see that they are flawed. Not so much Lily as the others. I have a lot of personal thoughts on this chapter, but that's not the topic of this post so I guess I'll just stop here.

It just has to be Snape's Worst Memory. It is just so funny seeing James make fun of Snape.

My favorite chapters are Snape's Worst Memory, Christmas On THe Closed Ward, and I don't remember the titles, but the two where Harry and Hermione go into the forest to find Grawp.

I love Snape's worst memory (*Drools on how cute Sirius must've been*), Careers Advice And The Department of Mysteries.

I really have no clue, because when I read good books I'm usually so into them that I barely even notice that a new chapter is starting at all.

My favorite chapters are Snapes Worst Memory- cause I love reading about young Sirius, Remus, James, and Snape. The only one he ever feared- Voldemort posses Harry, come on, I thought that was cool, and how Dumbledore kept calling Voldy Tom. The Prophacy- just cause it answer so many questions, and Dumbledore's tear, and how it makes me ask even more questions.

I also like The Advance Guard when they all come to rescue Harry!

Snape's Worst Memory. I like Harry's reaction to the memory. He's not as arrogant as his father once was. Then I like Peck of Owls. "Remember my last, Petunia" has me biting my nails to figure out what it means!!

Defiantly Snape's Worst Memory. Yes like most of you I love imaginging how hot the young Siruis, James, and Lupin would have been. And for OOTP movie I wonder who's gonna play them.

I was actually thinking Harry would play James just because everyone says how close they look. (SORRY! Very off topic )

I loved Christmas on the closed ward because we learned so much about Neville and it was very emotional. I also loved Snape's worse memory because I adore Sirius. Oh, and Miseria, I think Elijiah Wood could play a young James even though he's not British.

Yeah, I saw him on Conan one night when he was promoting LotR, and I was just astounded by how much he looks like Daniel Radcliff (sp)

Haha, now that you mention it, he does! I love Elijah Wood (I'm one of his screaming fangirls) and he would look like a James! Plus he always puts on English accents.

i like dumbledores army and basically all the beggining and end ones and i just enjoy reading the reat.
the reason i like the first chapters is because it always starts the story off perfectly and the end explains everything the middle is great i like all the book but the end and the begging is my favourite

Oh, this is a very old thread! The last post was made before I registered here! Wonder why I never come across it before...

As for me, I absolutely love 'The Advance Guard'. I remembered squeeling and jumping up in victory when Harry said 'Professor Lupin?' (Woot~!! Woot~!! ) It was full of good comforting feeling to have a bunch of good guys saving Harry like that. And Remus too!! What an entrance!! He always great at making himself known, eh? Both time (in the train in PoA and leading a group in OotP) was to save Harry.... love the guy so much!!

Aaah... I was like a big kid reading that part... tsk tsk.... *grow up, zyra!!*

My favorite chapter in OP is definitely Centaur and the Sneak: when Dumbledore knocks out Fudge, Umbridge, Dawlish, and Kingsley; then vanishing with Fawkes. Oh, and Marietta earning Hermione's wrath

it was brilliant glimpsing Snape, the Marauders & Lily as 5th years at Hogwarts.

Christmas on The Close Ward -
seeing Sirius so merry and then so depressed was tragic.

The Centaur & The Sneak -
i loathe Marietta. Dumbledore was so amazing!

The Order of The Phoenix -
A noble group. We learn what they've been up to and who the current and past members are.

Beyond the Veil -
what can i say, i was gutted. Apart from that, it was awesome seeing the Order members duelling alongside Harry.

As in all the other books, I like the chapters leading up to and culminating to the climax like in OotP, the all the chapters after The Department of Mysteries. I also liked the Beetle at Bay, Eye of the Snake, and a few more..

Well I bet most of you could guess...

I love the Marauders, and seeing them as kids was really really awesome.

"Behind The Veil," merely because it was so emotional for me. I was so upset I refused to finish the book for another hour or so.

Of course, "Snape's Worst Memory." Brilliant look at why he's such a prat.

Oh with out a shadow of a doubt I comepletly agree with Tuitus it has to be the Centaur and the Sneak if for notding else but the wit of Dumbledore at the end,

'Then you have been plotting against me!' (Fudge)
'That's right,' said Dumbledore cheerfully...

Fudge turned back to Dumbledore. 'You will now be escorted back to the ministry, where you will be formally charged, then sent to Azkaban to wait trial!'

'Ah,' said Dumbledore gently, 'yes. Yes, I thought we might hit that little snag.'

'Snag?' said Fudge, his voice still vibrating with joy. 'I see no snag, Dumbledore!'

'Well,' said Dumbledore apologetocally, 'I'm afraid I do,'

'Oh really?'

'Well - it's just that you seem to be labouring under the delusion that I am not going to - whats the phrase? - come quietly. I am afraid I am not going to come quietly at all, Cornelius. I have absolutely no intention of being sent to Azkaban. I could break out of course - but what a waste of time, and frankly, I can think of a whole host of things I would rather be doing.'

Plus It has one of my favourite one of Jo's magically adapted adage, 'It's like losing a Knut and finding a Galleon...' Dung and Figgy also come out with some brilliant ones in the earlier chapters

I completely agree with Souljacker...
The comments that Dumbledore - actually the entire passage when the secret of the DA is discovered is truly my most memorable from the OOTP.

That being said, it would come as no surprise that my favourite chapter in the book is Dumbledore's Army. It instantly made me feel so much better for the students of Hogwarts and especially Harry, as it gave him a positive outlet to expend all that anger and frustration. Also, a positve way to use all that he has learnt from the previous encounters with danger.

Also i would have to say i love the chapter that reveals who the new Gryffindor Prefects are - The Woes of Mrs Weasley - especially the part where Mrs Weasley finds out about Ron's Prefectship....

'His...but..Ron, you're not...?
Ron held up his badge.
Mrs Weasley let out a shriek just like Hermione's.
'I don't believe it! I don't believe it! Oh Ron, how wonderful!
A Prefect! That's everyone on the family!'

'What are Fred and I, next-door neighbours?' said George.

One of the best things about the depth of characters within Harry Potter is there ability to make you laugh out loud....
This is just one of those times that made me do so...

My other favourite character/s are the ex-headmaster wizards in their portraits in Dumbledore's office.
Especially when Harry goes to Dumbledore after seeing the snake biting Mr Weasey.

Dumbledore marched over to another portrait, this time of a clever-looking wizard with a pointed beard, who had been painted wearing the Slytherin colours of green and silver and was apparently sleeping so deeply that he could not hear Dumbledore's voice when he attempted to rouse him.
'Phineas. Phineas'
When the clever looking wizard continued to feign sleep, some of the other portraits shouted his name, too.
'Phineas! Phineas! PHINEAS!'
He could not pretend any longer, he gave a theatrical jerk and opened his eyes wide.

I just love the characters that JKR comes up with.... and OOTP was rank with them... eg Mundagus Fletcher, Umbridge, and Grawp (- to some extent) to name a few...

I was really laughing at some passages regarding Umbridge.

"Don't Stun them, Filch!" shouted Umbridge angrily, for all the world as though it had been his incantation. "Right you are, Headmistress!" wheezed Filch, who as a Squib could no more have Stunned the fireworks than swallowed them.

And I also love passages - let's say - Umbridge vs. McGonagall.

"I was just wondering, Professor, whether you received my note telling you of the date and time of your inspec- "
"Obviously I received it, or I would have asked you what you are doing in my classroom."

My favorite chapters are "The Woe's of Mrs.Weasley". beacause it is shocking how ron becomes a prefect. "The only One He Ever Feared'' And "The lost prophecy" because that chapter explains everything.

Yeah, I agree with you that Ron becoming a Prefect was a bit shocking... But, on the other hand, I like it, because Harry is already famous and everything... I don't know how to say that, but it's good that Ron got his chance I think...

My favourite chapters are probably Fight and Flight and The Centaur and the Sneak. I love chapters that can make me laugh and also send shivers up my spine because they were so good and imaginative.

(I didn't like the chapters with Harry yelling, though. Caps and angst overload.)

I like episode when Dumbledore and Harry are talking in the end (and in all the books I like them a lot).
And being not original - I also like the chapter with the worst Snape's memory.

I have a question to everybody - how did they saw Snape's underwears - don't the students wear anything under the robe? Do they walk without trousers?

And another question, if so much people like this episode, how do you imagine was the end of that memory (if Harry wasn't interrupted by Snape)? Did Snape protected himself at last?

Hmm, I don't know if I have an exact favourite. There is so much good in it.

I love the Dumbledore's Army. Any scenes with the club is so interesting to read because it's great to read about how they corporate together and so much happiness in it.

The Lost Prophecy, a very very interesting chapter.

My favorite chapter would have to be any chapter that has Kreacher in it.
