Dolores Umbridge [like what someone said "pure evil"] , Cornelius Fudge [what an idiot! who made him the MoM?] , and lastly I absolutely loathe Bellatrix Lestrange..talk about pure, pure evil..its in her blood!! She's a Death Eater, which in my opinion is a poor excuse for fighting her own family.. [sirius]..bless his soul..!

I don't think there is a charktar whose the worst because every character has its own "intentions". The dursleys doesen't exst for the fun of it. neither does B.Lestrange. There is a reason why these things happen because life isn't perfect. I hope u know what i wanted to say.

So far all of the pure evil characters have had a reason or a purpose to be evil.

eg.

Umbridge - symbolises the Ministry intervention. And the cause of most of Harry's upset.

Malfoy - Well there has to be someone evil. He was influential in the Chamber of Secrets, getting Dumbledore suspended as well as the the whole Buckbeak issue.

Draco - We all have a school bully.

Fudge - Ministry of Magic have to ignore Voldemort and that means discrediting Harry.

thats enough explaining.

Snape he only hates Harry for what James did to him.

Umbridge is an excellent character, but I hate her. Do any of you get what I'm saying? She's very well put together by JK, and unique. She's someone everyone loves to hate.

I also really dislike Bellatrix.

Umbridge is just one of those people. The whole Harry hating Hogwarts in Bk 5 is mainly about her and what she does to anger him.
I like her because she brings out a side in Harry that we don't normally see.

I don't like Snape. He's way too harsh. Same with Umbridge. And I don't like Filch because he's nasty, and he talks to a cat so I think he's missing a couple of screws.

I wanted to kill Umbridge when she banned Harry from Quidditch. I seriously wanted to do her bodily harm even though she is a fictional character. Other than her I can't really think of a character that I hate. I don't know why but I don't hate Snape, except that one time when he told Hermione in book 4 "I see no difference" or something like that about her teeth, that was just wrong. I don't hate him but I don't want him to be happy. (I know I'm weird) Hermione gets on my nerves sometimes too, but that's just because I'm so much like her. lol. Anyway, that's enough for now. Oh, wait, I REALLY hate Bellatrix, she is so evil! I want her dead.

I don't like Cho or Filch. Umbridge was evil but she was a really good character that served a purpose. I think her character was very well written but of course with JKR everything is well written.

Now I don't like Cho at all. The only thing she was really good for was giving Harry his first kiss, but then I wish she hadn't been the one to give him his first kiss.

I think most of the charactes mentioned here are great characters -- people like Umbridge, Percy, Lockhart, and Fudge are who make the books fun.

To me the worst characters are the house elves, in general -- especially Winky. Dobby is fine after he is freed -- however, their logic and ethics make no sense, and their behavior is pathetic. And Kreacher doesn't even meet these low standards.

I can't believe how many people put down that they hated Harry. Usually it is because of how he was in the 5th book. I must say that just shocks me. I am assuming that the people who wrote that don't have much empathy for others who are hurting. Harry had just been through a horrible ordeal at the end of GoF. In addition to suffering great pain, seeing evil restored to power, he witnesses a friends death and sees his dead parents echo or whatever. Then he goes to live with the dursleys for a few weeks and of course he has no one there that he can talk to in order to begin to process all of that.

His reaction and behavior in OOtP is completely human and understandable. I don't view him as whiny, I view him as extremely angry and scared. If he were whiny, he would have whined about the detentions with umbrage, but he didn't. He is still in shock over everything that has happened. Most people would have had major nervous breakdowns by this point.

To say that you hate harry because of how he was in book five just makes me feel so sad that obviously some people have missed the point of Harry. He is a boy, who is going through a terrible experience. He has seen death more than once and he fully knows that he will see it again. In fact, I think he has an understanding of the prophecy even before he hears it in some way. I think he already knew that he would somehow have to be the one to defeat Voldelmort. Imagine having that on your shoulders when you are only 15 years old. Most 15 year old boys still have trouble matching their socks in the morning let alone saving the world.

Have some empathy for what he is going through.

By the way Umbrage is my least favorite,but I agree with the person who wrote that she was also a well written character. I am not too fond of Uncle Vernon. I think he is an awful person. I used to hate Petunia before OOtP, but now I am reserving judgement as it is obvious that there is more to her story than we thought.

My least favorite characters are Umbridge(of course), Kreacher (I just think it made a neat username), and Bellatrix.

I agree with Patronus about Umbridge, but i hate her too....but i hate cho more than Umbridge...sorry all cho fans(i doubt there are any!!!!)...cho's such a baby!!!i mean, ok i get it she liked Cedric, but then if she hasnt overcome her sadness, she shouldnt have gone out with Harry, but stayed in the bathroom CRYING her heart out!! i bet wen she dies, she'll share the toilet with Myrtle(!!!) ... she's just such a baby, and she should have understood why harry tries to drop the convers. about his death...cant she understand wat harry felt there in a GRAVEYARD!!??? with a dead boy, and murderers all around??? i just sooooooooooo hate her !!!!
