I think it could happen... It makes sense that somehow she could be introduced as a larger character later on.

Um......I'd be furious if J.K Rowling put this in the books. I'd send her an e-mail stating that she knew basically nothing of Indian Culture. UNLESS Parvati is supposed to be some movie star character....in which case she can go run around in a bikini and kiss white boys. (IT'S A JOKE!!)

Parvati wasn't too happy with Harry when he practically ditched her at the Yule Ball. I could see there being a slight intrest between the two... but I just don't see it happening in the long run...

I don't think this ship can happen, regardless of the fact I'm an H/H shipper. Harry seems to get annoyed with Parvati really easily, and I think her anger with him ignoring her at the Yule Ball was just because... well, she was ignored.

I don't know much about Indian culture... but there's an Indian girl in our shoe at the community theatre (Music Man Jr... she plays Zaneeta) and she said something about how the boy playing Tommy was "too white"... I really don't know why, but it just cracked me up (she's such a sweet, quiet girl)... and it made me think of this... care to enlighten me? ()

I don't know all that much about Indian culture, but I don't think that it would interfere too much with her romantic life if she was allowed to go with a boy to a dance. Also, she is really pretty apparantly, and we know how Harry likes the pretty ones...

I don't think Parvati and Harry would work. I read one fanfic where Harry and Parvati got together for a little while, and I didn't like it at all. I think Harry should date Ginny, so that Ron and Hermione can get together.

Enlightening Ceres: Hehe, some desi people want to be pale and they find beign pale totally beautiful. Others don't. I'm kinda vampirish looking in the morning....I used to look like a cappiciuno when I was little. (I'm talking about face complexion, lol.) I dunno what I think about it. Pale is good for pale people, darker is good for darker people.

In Indian culture, you usually get an arranged marriage. Unless you get a lovematch with a good DESI guy and then your parents say it's okay. No divorces either unless the guy is really abusive, or it's not working at ALL. You have to learn how to make it work. Bleh....I dun wanna think about marriage now. It's too depressing for me, lol.

Some girls date behind their parents' back (NOT ME) I think that going to the ball with Harry wasn't going on a date....it was probably just taking her a dance. I wouldn't be able to go though if some guy asked me to a dance....I'd probably break out in tears of joy that someone had FINALLY asked me out, or break down in tears of sadness for the guy who was about to get CRUSHED by my refusal. I'm a dimwit, lol.

We're generally supposed to follow them, but some break the rules and go out on dates, and stuff like that. I knew someone like that, but she's married so she can't do that anymore.

Also, what I find very funny, is that they think all American girls dress like Paris Hilton, so when they dress like "Americans" they think they're super-hot and blah.....they usually look pretty ugly. Hehe.

OK, this has been inactive for a while, but hey, I was just thinking about it today. Harry may start liking her, after he was so fascinate dby her hair, and she definitely likes Harry, or at least did, Lavender and her always started giggling when Harry talked to them or when McGonagall told them about the Yule Ball, they looked at him and giggled.

Yeah, but when McGonagall tells them about the Yule Ball Lavender and Parvatiu look at Harry. Lavender starts giggling and Parvati nudges her on the ribs, something like a way of telling her to stop. AAAmd when Harry asks her to the Yule Ball she gets all red in the face.

Harry and Parvati will forever be a one-time Yule Ball date. I am interested to see Parvati and Padma hooked up with Fred and George. Poor Mrs. Weasley will now quadruply confused.
I just want to point out that all the characters at Hogwarts (and the movies so far) are British. Although they may originate somewhere else, they have become British wizards and witches. I don't think background family culture will play much role here. Parvati (or Padma) was even comfortable with the Beauxbatons and vice versa. No peculiarity here.

Yes but if she does then i dont doubt that harry will start fancing parvati. Ofcourse the best thing would be introducing parvati in quidditch.b Then might harry would come more closer to parvati. For my part I really hope for this ship to come true. I'm a Harry/Hermione shipper but also a paravti Harry shipper. She's described pretty cute in the books and in the films I find her pretty cute too.

Actually,I'll give harry/parvati as much a chance as i'll give harry/ginny.
The main reason being that harry doesn't know both the girls well.
And from what i've read,I think Parvati is more or less pretty good.Harry has described her as pretty.She's brave because she's in gryffindor,etc.Not many differences besides quidditch and character role in the two girls.If rowling chooses to pair harry with parvati,it will be pretty OK to me.However,there are a few disadvantages to this pairing as well,which are also similar to harry/ginny.All in all,i'll rate it as a possible pair.
As far as desi culture is concerned,I don't think indians in foreign countries follow it.That should in no way be a hindrance to this pair.Also,rowling doesn't know about all this.She's writing about harry's adventures,not full fledged romance novels taking into consideration a the background of the girl,her culture,language,religion,etc.

I agree with snoopy. Harry can rely on Parvati to go with him at last minute. Parvati clearly made herself available for Harry, since Prof. McGonagall announced the Yule Ball (stealing glance at Harry, together with Lavender). She was even kind enough to ask her sister to accompany Ron. It's sad that both pretty girls were neglected. Harry did not understand romance yet. He mind was at Cho. Actually it was Dean Thomas who regarded them "the prettiest girls in our year". Harry and Ron did not realize how lucky they were.
However, Parvati, and Padma, were not a whining type. As soon as they realized the lack of attention, they excused themselves to go to Beauxbatons boys, where they got the attention they deserved. That shows a strong character. That could be good for Harry.
I can see a lovely alternative story (to the big Ships), where Parvati will be with Harry and Padma with Ron. It's not impossible until Jo says so.

So apparently, it doesn't take much for Harry to form a crush/releationship/go out with someone. I know a lot of people are rather mad at Cho and, maybe they didn't like her much in the first place, but I think that Pavarti/Harry would actually be very interesting! It'd kinda be like another Cho releationship. With less crying. Probably.

Anyway, I'm not totally against it, even if I am a Hermione/Harry Shipper myself. What I find curious is that she didn't have a date, even though JKR clearly states that she was one of the two prettiest girls in the year, the other being her sister. I mean, if she was the prettiest, why didn't she have a date like everyone else? Was she secretly hoping Harry would ask her?

i did see a show "Harry Potter and I" in it J.K Rowling showed a yellow folder with "top secret" on it (cute) and she said thats the last chapter of the 7th book..im dying to know whats in it..i know it doesnt connect with parvati and harry..but im just saying..

Peppercup, before Book 7 is published, we can still enjoy discussing all possible pairings, although I distant myself from certain pairings.
Parvati and Harry is one of the lovely ones. In the history of Harry Potter, Parvati already has a significant place. No debate about this.
Whether Parvati can be Harry's one and only love is debatable. In the real world everything is possible. In Jo's world everything will come down to the yellow folder.

I don't think that one bad relationship experience is enough to stop Harry from liking or loving someone else. I mean, seriously, he's a teenager...and it wasn't as though he and Cho were 'meant to be.' It was just an infatuation that went awry.

Anyway, I think that this ship is a real possibility. Parvarti seems to be pretty down to earth...and that is a quality that our overly heroic Harry Potter probably needs in a girlfriend...

i think that Parvati and Harry would be a good couple, even if they didn't really "hit it off" at the Yule Ball....but towards the end of the 5th book Harry seemed rather entranced by her...

Well...after read all of the statements, i quite agree with this ship. It could be fun to see Harry and Parvati become a pair...

This is what my brain say:
I think, after Harry ignored Parvati in the Yule Ball, Parvati is quite angry with him (and jealous, maybe?). In the rest time until the end of book 5, i think Parvati is thinking. She's thinking whether Harry can notice her as a normal girl. If i'm not wrong, we don't see any 'giggling part' from Parvati in book 5, do we?. Nah...if i am right, in that period of time, Parvati tried to make up a little bit, so she hoped that Harry can notice her a little bit more. No doubt that a very pretty girl like Parvati, if don't have a date partner, hoped that Harry will ask her. In OoTP, she also 'quite' sacrifice her friendship with Lavender, when Lavender said that she didn't trust Harry, Parvati said that she did trust Harry!. Now, from my own opinion. I think JKR won't set a 'family love story'. You know what i mean? If it is true that Ron will hook up with Hermione, i don't think JKR will set Harry for Ginny. It's too perfect romance story, and JKR is not a writer that have a type of writing a story like that. The point of my explanation is Harry need someone 'new', 'neutral', and loves him trully from her heart. I don't see anyone else (even Ginny) except Parvati Patil

well i'm australian, italian and Indian but mostly indian cuz my parents are both 50 percent indian but besides the point i think times changed and my parents are totally aganist arranged marriages so are many others so i can see it happening

Well, I know Harry-Parvati won't happen in the books, but it's still my favorite ship (for Harry).
It will be interesting because although she doesn't have a major role in the books, she seems to be nice and it would be cool if the 'airhead' goes out with the 'mystery' boy. Besides, I have always thought that Harry needs to go out with someone who's not so involved with that Voldemort stuff, or someone out of his near circle of friends. I read a very good fanfic about them together
And I know that if he starts liking her it will be something totally new, not related to anything that has happened before (like the Yule ball, or the OWLS)

i so think Harry and Parvati should get together but hello, this is after the 6th book has come out and we all no that harry and ginny are getting together, and if you didint no then im ever so sorry, and i also think that because the girl playing her in the 4th movie is so pretty, my sister and me just look at pics of her dancing with Harry and were just like" omg i wish i was her" anyway back to the present, thy wouldve made such a good couple if Ginny didnt come along not that im not a harry/ginny shipper,TOTALLY!!!!

I'm afraid I'm a bit unsure if you are a Hr/Pv shipper or not. As I’m sure you already know posting in ships sections is for supporters only (unless otherwise stated).
If you are simply a pessimistic Hr/Pv shipper could i please ask that in the future in this thread you do not use phrases like 'but hello...' simply because it is shooting down the ship.
