I would choose Dumbledore because he gave Harry a future. I wouldn't choose Sirius becuase Harry only knew him for a couple of years and he never knew his parents at all.

I chose Dumbledore as well, for me and others he symbolized good, truth and hope. When he died, it was like seeing a small glimmer of hope crushed...

Sirius Black for me. DD was nearing the end of his life, Although I hope he is still alive, Sirius's death has by far effected me the most. He was Harry's salvation, the closest thing to a father figure that could tell him about his real parents, who acted like a father an was over-protective just by knowing Harry for two years. When Sirius died, Harry's life had once again returned to shambles, the life he thought he was going to have, the family he always wanted to have was taken away. DD's death just added insult to injury, but seeing Hary's pain when Sirius died made me tear, but DD's death hasn;t really hurt me in any way.

Definitly Sirius Black. I wasn't ready for his death; I knew DD was done for already. Harry had hardly known Sirius for barely a few years. I see it as quite unfair, especially to Harry.

the death that shocked me the most is definitly Sirius death...
He was still young, and for me at the beginning of a new life. He finally found his friends back, and Harry found a father figure. It was sad that they weren't together for long. Dumbledores time had come, he was an old man and I always expected him to die first. The Potters death didn't shock me because we didn't knew the Potters in person, but after reading information about them the death became more sad. The other options aren't really important for me... maybe Cedric because he was so young.

I'd say that DD's death.
Why? Of course because Snape did it!!!

I still can't get over this!
In addition, I was sad about the Riddles gardener death. He was such a good person, devoted to his work and this devotion caused his unnecessary death. It was really heartbreaking.

Definitely Sirius. I saw all of them coming, I have to admit...but Sirius got to me the most. I absolutely adored his character and the thought of the lost potential and all those wasted years he spent in prison just really define the word 'tragedy'. He never got the chance to have his life back and that was just unutterably sad.
Second, I'd have to vote Cedric because of his age, obviously. And again, the sudden pointlessness of it.
All the others, I saw coming and so weren't really a huge shock. DD was an old man who had enjoyed a wonderful life and although no one deserves the ending he had, I don't think you could compare his death to Sirius or Cedric's really, not as far as emotional impact goes.

I'd have to say Dumbledore. It was just not what I expected to happen and just so sad.

When Sirius died it really didn't effect me because he was so new in the series, at least in less books than Dumbledore. He was Harry's mentor, the person he looked up to and could always count on to help him and protect him. Now that he's gone Harry will have a greater challenge to defeat Voldemort than with the help of Dumbledore. Even though he was aging and starting to finnaly show his age he still made a difference. It'll be interesting to see how the series ends.

I also have to say Sirius. He seemed to be the hope that Harry needed and he seemed so devoted to Harry. The thought of him and Beaky spending the vacation in the tropics made me smile more than anything. My hope is that he is there behind the veil waiting for whatever spell or reversal will bring him back to us...

I have to say that I was crying like a baby when I read that part about Dumbledore being killed mby Snape [Professor]. I was really upset because I am a fan of Snape and for him to pretend to be loyal to the one man who helped him escape Azkaban is just wrong! His death was the worst in my opinion. I loved Dumbledore....

I voted Dumbledore. I definitely knew this had to happen, knew he just had to die, because Harry needs to continue this journey they started together on his own, but I still felt so affected, I think he was one of the characters I've liked best and he was definitely great. I cried so much.

I chose Dumbledore because he always helped Harry out especially on How to destroy Voldemort. Also, Dumbledore was a character anyone could relate to, but mainly because he helped Harry, Ron, and Hermoine.

Alright, you're all wondering. I'm the odd one who voted for Frank Bryce, but whatever. I just think that an innocent muggle like him, who was totally unaware of the danger lurking in front of his eyes, didn't deserve to die. He died too unimportantly. He died because he overheard voldemort's plan...so unfortunate (for a muggle).
Now if I can choose again I'd choose Dumbledore, because he's the only character whose death I cried over. And I cried really hard too.

I think that Sirius' death has affected me the most because I liked him more than the others that have died. His death came as a shock whereas I was expecting DD to die because I knew Harry had to defeat LV on his own. I also think that Sirius' death affected me because he was young and close to Harry.

I voted Dumbledore. See, I'd bought the sixth book the day it came out when I was on vacation in New Hampshire. I read it in one day (I literally did NOTHING else). When it got to the part when Dumbledore died I started crying. I cried so hard I had to stop reading because I couldn't see the letters anymore. What's more is that my mom and dad and brother hadn't read it yet and I had no one to talk to about it! Yeah I know, I'm a sap; I get very attached to fictional characters.

It would have to say Sirius' death for me. I agree with everyone when they say that Sirius' death was unexpected, as it was for me. When Sirius went right through that veil, it felt as if though
I had lost everything. Me, being a girl who can't wait for anything (I have no idea how I was voted the most patient person in my fifth grade class

), skipped over to the part where Harry was fighting Lupin and shouting out Sirius' name.
I realized what had happened, and no longer had that erge to keep on reading. I, of course, did, but didn't have that excitement that I used to. Harry had lost the closest thing he had to a parent, and for some time, I thought that he would be used to it. But then, I didn't imagine how Harry was going to live without Sirius. And, in fact, it seemed to me as though he still needs to get back to his old self, but that's not going to happen very soon, with Dumbledore's death.
Dumbledore's death was also very emotional for me, but I kept in mind that Harry basically had everything he needed to know, and that he couldn't keep on depending on Dumbledore for much longer, so I tried not to get as deep with DD as I did with Sirius..

I have to agree and say Sirius' death upset me the most. I really wasn't expecting it, and Dumbledore was old, and his death was atleast hinted at. Sirius brought so much hope and happiness into Harrys life that I had thought he would stay with him and be his new parential figgure, so it really shocked me when he died

I, like most people, would go for Dumbledore, just for his outstanding importance to the series. He was a mentor and a friend to Harry, along with being the most powerful and noble wizard alive.

I think Dumbledore upset me the most. I don't think it was because he died (I was expecting it), but the way he died that upset me. The fact that Snape did it totally took me by surprise. I cried for a long time and it took me a while to start liking Snape again. it was upsetting.

I have to say Sirius' death affected me as it affected alot of fans out there. Erm... I think Sirius was an important character and his death was quite sudden. He was godfather to Harry and Harry didn't really get to spend much time with him. I didn't vote for Dumbledore, because I don't think he's dead. (Sorry for stating this here)

dumbledore's affected me the most, i cried sparatically from the time he died until the end of the book. i dunno why, but for some reason, the death of sirius really didn't affect me that much; didn't cry at all. i don't really think my mind wrapped around the concept since it happened so suddenly.

i would choose dumbledore. no question for me. 100% dumbledore and i'll never dream of thinking about someone else. i cried a whole day after he died and refused to continue with the book. the only thing i thought about that whole day was wanting to kill JK Rowling for killing dumbledore the same second and not do anything alse all day. it took me a while to come back to myself and i just cried a WHOLE day. he was one of my favourite characters, he was funny and a good character for books in general, he was the wisest man ever and tought harry all the important thigs he needs to know. he was an important character for the plot and told harry what he needs to do. he was allways there for harry and helped him whenever he needed. the fact that snape did it made me feel even worse because i trusted him like dumbledore but by now i'm conviced that he's innocent after all so in my second re-reading of book 6 I didn't cry but my eyes were a bit red. so the answer is definately dumbledore. without a doubt.

well that is close! I chose sirius though becoz he made harry so happy gave him a shot at a real family and he did as so many of have said not have enough time with him. But DD on the other hand was the greatest character he gave harry so much reassurance and warmth that was a really huge loss for everyone. I just felt that sirus was so young his life was wawsted in jail then for like DarkStar said 2 years he is with his best friend's son and bleh he dies. DD's death definitley filled me with panick and sadness but Sirius made me feel pity i mean poor harry!
ok well those are my thoughts bye now

I was sooo shocked by DD's death,it caught me by surprise and I was really sad.I think that sirius's death was a shocker but it didn't affect me as much as DD's cos DD has been in the story for, like, ever and he helped harry so much.He was like a grandpa or something to harry and they did things together that were soo important, and now harry has to do it by himself.

Sirius' death affected me the most. Sirius would do anything for Harry, like come back to Hogsmeade, and he could of gotten caught but he still did it, just to see Harry. Harry finally had a sort of father-figure to look up to and if he needed advice Sirius would of helped him, no matter what.
Dumbledore was old and injured, I wish he didn't die but Sirius' death was just so much more sadder.

It would definitely have to be Dumbledore. As far as Marauders go, I've connected more with Lupin. Not that I don't like Sirius and I cried a little about his death. But Dumbledore was definitely quite emotional. I suppose I sorta knew it was probably coming, but still...

Oh yeah, it's definetely gotta be Dumbledore. I still remember when I read it, it basically ruined the river-rafting trip that I was on. The rest of the time I was thinking "no, it can't be. no." i guess i went through the 5 steps of grief. Denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and then finally acceptance. I have started to doubt that acceptance though, but that's a different topic...

I voted Sirius Black because I didn't see it coming. I've always loved his character and I really think that it was unfair to Harry : he had found somebody who could be like the father he was missing and then Sirius dies!
As for Dumbledore's death I got the feeling before reading the book so I had time to prepare myself. My boyfriend told me that there were rumors about the death of somebody important in hpb and then I immediately thought : "Hey, it's going to be Dumbledore!" and it was!

I'd also like to add that Madam Bones' death affected me somewhat. We never really knew that much about her, but I liked her well enough. It was a shame she had to go, I kinda hoped something more would be done with her character. At least she went out fighting though.

Well, even thought I was so stunned and grieved at both Cedric Diggory's and Sirius Blacks deaths, i had to say dumbledore. I am still having trouble getting over the fact that hes dead. i hear all these theories about him still being alive and such, but i just cant see any of those coming true. I think that its point blank-dumbledore is dead. I sat in my room all day for two days strait after i read that book and just wrote all in a notebook things like "dumbledore is dead, dumbledore is dead, i cant believe it" and theories and short stories and by the end of those two days there wasnt a square millimeter of white paper left in that notebook. Even though it was no huge shoker (well, it would have been because i didnt see it coming before the release of the book, but I knew that there was a chapter called the white tomb at the end of the book (I read the index when i got it) and my sister, who normally hates reading any books, just HAD to read the last chapter when i was getting some juice on what i called one of my "chapter breaks" and I'm downstairs drinking my apple juice when i hear a scream "DUMBLEDORE DIES!!!!!NO WAY!!!!!!!" needless to say, we are now short one glass in our cupboard and there is still apple juice stains on my living room carpet.) it still deeply disturbed me and its one thing i will never forget.

I would definitely have to say Sirius' affected me the most. I loved his character from the moment I found out he was good. I just fell in love with him. I think that it was a good relationship for both him and Harry. Even though they both tried to fill someone else's place with each other and couldn't quite do that they still needed each other. I was devastated when Sirius was gone. Just devasted. I was at first with Dumbledore too but only for like a split second. Even before I'd had time to think out a theory as to why he's not dead I knew something was different. I just didn't feel that concerned that he was gone. Maybe it was just disbelief but I have really strong reasons why he's alive so it was Sirius that did me in!

I voted Dumbledore...

He helped Harry much more than Sirius, I think. He was like his grand father!
I wasn't very sad(not saying I was not sad at all!), but it was a shock! An enormous shock! I was less sad when my great aunt died! I was sad for a book character, not for a real person!
I'm worrying about myself, i'm going mad!

I hate what I am about to say, but I voted: Sirius!
Although Cedric and DD affected me as well... but Sirius is the only one that made me really cry... honest!
And I hate to say it, because I still can't get over the fact that he is... well you know... the "D" word

I almost cried when Dumbledore is giving the "remember Cedric Diggory" speech, but the death itself didn't shock me that much...
And I, as many of you, kind of had the feeling that Dumbles might die, so it didn't shock me either...
But I did cry when Sirius fell through the Veil... I was reduced to almost hysterical tears! perhaps the fact that I love the character helped to that shock...

Cedric. To be honest, none of the other deaths really bothered me too much. Cedric was murdered in a place he knew absolutely nothing about, and no one else even considered that his life was in danger. Everyone thought it would be fine, and then it just wasn't. He died, and afterwards some people didn't even believe that he was murdered. To me that just seemed sick. If I was going to be murdered, I would like people to know who did it, and I would want the people I loved to know that I was in dange in dying.

I was going to say Dumbledore, but then realized it was his time. He was an old man, and was ready to face death. Cedric's death has affected me the most. In GoF (book) Amos Diggory says to Cedric "That's something to tell your grandchildren! You beat Harry Potter!". And then almost a year later, Cedric dies. His life was cut way too short. Everything that was in store for him just...left.

See, I'd answer this a bit differently based on the circumstances surrounding it. I guess Sirius' death was the most shocking. Cedric's was the most tragic. I didn't "know" Cedric enough to vote for him though. As for Sirius, I do wish that he'd been able to stick around, but his death hasn't had me thinking about the circumstances surrounding it as much as, if at all really, Dumbledore's death. That one affects me because I ponder it . . .try to rationalize it . . . try to think about ways that it could be a mistake. . .and so forth. I know he was nearing the end of his life one way or the other, but I think that the WAY it happened has really bugged me.

For me, as for some of you, it was definitely Sirius' death which knocked me out. I adored him, he was my favourite character ever since I read PoA. I really liked that he was father, brother and friend to Harry, I loved the way he was defending Harry against Snape or even Molly (

) in OotP. It was a great idea of JKR to form a character like Sirius, and he was imo the greatest loss for Harry.
Of course I love Dumbledore (I like wise old male characters, I also loved Gandalf from LotR very much), but he was old, we could have been prepared for his death, besides, he had the chance of giving some of his wisdom to Harry. Sirius did not have that chance.

Is was a hard decision to make.
In the end I picked Cedric's death because I still remember when I first read about it in the book and I was horrified.
I cried for a while and I re-read the passage cause i couldn't believe it.
I might sound evil but..even if I love Dumbledore character as well..We didn't have the time to know Cedric better before his horrible death and this, to me, made his death even more depressing. I choose him.
I mean..Phlegm is still alive..

and Cedric died.
