I used to read Remus/Sirius fics. In fact, I never read fanfic about any other couple. Just them. wub.gif
Vindictive Dark
I prefer slash with guys in it... especially Harry/Draco. That is so cute. I have read some fics with that, and now that I think of it, it wouldn't be too bad to write one. smile.gif

Lol I would really like Drace and Harry to get together because it would be a waste of loads of arguments and then they love each other. It would be so good.
Joy
Hemione and Ginny are both very b-e-a-utiful, so i think that must do. I'm a girl, so it's not just a perve's thoughts. laugh.gif

You know Joy, if it weren't so near the truth I think I may have taken offence at that

I wonder if the growing prevalence of other characters such as Dean Thomas, Lavendar Brown and Luna Lovegood will herald a new age of slash fiction?
felix_felicis_444
Well, I am not big on fanfics in general. I have not read very many, so I am really not one to judge what ships are better than others in stories.

I have read one slash fanfic, actually reccommended by Darcy on the "Slash Ships" thread. It was a very long [and quite graphic] Harry/Draco ship fic called The Domino Effect. I suppose that due to the fact that I have only read that one slash fic, I am left in the dark a bit. But, for that reason, I voted for Harry/Draco on the poll.

My question is: are there many female slash fanfics? I mean this out of pure curiosity, because I have never seen one before. I would be interested in reading a Hermione/Luna fic...I think that beyond their differnces, the two would make a very great couple. They each have the attributes that the other needs.

I love sirius/lupin stories, I have read some truly beautiful slash fics about them, I prefer longer love stories rather than PWP (porn-without-plot) because I'm a softie at heart. I think that they are really compatable (as expressed in the fanfics which extend upon their long friendship and closeness)- they seem to have a good dynamic, with sirius being flighty, hot-tempered and a bit risky and lupin keeping him in check and being the sensible one, but with the roles reversing once a month tongue.gif and I think thatthe love between them has been written well because of them standing by each other and their personalities and humour 'bouncing off each other' and working well - because they both seem a little sarcastic but very loving a loyal.

I don't really think that the James/Sirius ones appeal to me, as it sdort of seems like incest (their closeness went past friendship and more into the realms of brotherhood) but generally I love slash fiction (well actually I love most love storyies irrespective of homo/hetero sexuatlity, what matters is the writing and there are some really well written ones out there), especially the ones with sirius in them, because he is my favorate character tongue.gif for obvious reasons *ahem* blush.gif *mumbles something about sirius being hot* and even though I am straight I still enjoy femslash, because of the same reasons - a well written love story is a winner and always makes me go 'aww how sweet', but I have to admit that for the more *ahem* 'naughty' ones, I prefer guy-slash
Salazaar
My vote had to go to Remus And Sirius for two reasons, one Sirius and Lupin are my favorite characters in the book( that are good). Also they remind me of my friends, one of them is smart and the other likes to get into adrenline pumping situations.
clauDDia
I also think Sirius/Remus are the cutest ones ^^

and come on! the werewolf and the padfoot!... they are so right together tongue.gif like ying and yang, the rebel one and the calmed one, the sandy haired and the black raven haired... its meant to be rolleyes.gif
priori_incantatem
I voted Remus and Sirius. They were the only options that didn't include Harry, Ron, Hermione, or Ginny, because they are all very straight! mellow.gif
Padfoot12
I voted other, because my favourite is...
Voldemort/Wormtail!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hehe, that would be funny... tongue.gif
Wormtail: You are ever so sexy, my lord!
Voldy: Not now, Petey, the Death Eaters are watching...later...
Sorry to everyone for my crazy/sick/deluded mind, but that's just how I am!:D

Lizzy_Radcliffe
Awww, at last someone likes Harry and Ron together biggrin.gif ...every time I tell one of my friends about HP slash, they just pretend to gag. I agree with Padfoot12 on Voldy and Wormtail, but my favorite has to be Ron/Harry, then Draco/Harry. I've written plenty of slash for both those couples, but my best have definitely been for Ron/Harry. As long as it's not short and nasty (PWP), but a beautiful love story between the two boys. Hermione/Ginny might be interesting, though... Anyway, I love reading Harry/anyone slash because Harry is just my favorite guy in the books, and he's so hot (not just looks, but personality, too) wub.gif I think everyone should write at least one slash story, because it's so fun to see where the relationships go.
HeWhoMustNotBeNamed
Sadly my favorite is not listed. My favorite slash couple is...
[indent][indent] HARRY AND CEDRIC!
wub.gif biggrin.gif wub.gif
They are just so cute together!
luv_flies_away
i voted for remus and sirius! "they hugged in a brotherly way" well in the movie it looked more like they were more than just being brotherly. lol. nah just kidding, they didn't look like that, i don't think anyways. i like this couple. i think it's cute! but i'm not really into slashes! they're a bit twisted and sick. i don't really enjoy reading slashes that much.

and who voted draco and harry? now that's just gross! that is wrong. i'm sorry but ew! but you're intitled to your own opinion and i respeact that but i still find that a couple that i will never except.
Hiraya
Snarry! No contest! laugh.gif Er... Snape/Harry if some of you aren't familiar with the abbreviation. tongue.gif Anyway, I've read lots of ships, but I was hooked on Snarry the longest. Still am in fact. Gotta love the angst and the tension and the inappropriateness of it all. If you guys know some hot PWPs though, please PM me. biggrin.gif Or I might just check the recommendations. Hehe
ScarletWoman
For some reason, Draco/Harry is just so out there. It would be a hate/love relationship. It would be very steamy to follow and see where it would lead, seeing as Harry landed Malfoy's father in prison and is trying to kill his "master".
darknessdolly
I don't read slash but Neville would make a perfect slave for Draco.
Don't ya think?
He needs to be pushed around and Draco loves pushing people around.
Nough said.
HP^4^Life
Draco and Harry, Its fun to watch them duel it out. Escpecially in the second book.

[Mod Edit] Hiya! Could you please drop by the forum rules? One liners/Short posts aren't permitted on the forums, so elaborate more in future posts (at least three full lines of text).

i like snape and harry pair because [coz] all the story seems to happen just around them.

hiya fluerdelacour.

Please take a couple of minutes to swing by the forum rules (link is in my siggy). We don't allow one liners/short posts on the forums, and neither the use of netspeak ('coz' should have been 'because'). Please restrain from using it in future posts.

Ah interesting thread and topic. well for me i voted draco and harry because despite the fact that they dislike each other and are always trying to fight and whatnot it's rather funny thinking about a relationship between them. since they have been dueling and whatnot since their first year it would be definitely interesting to see if something like this happened. it would just be your typical love/hate relationship but i bet it would be a riot nonetheless. blink.gif laugh.gif

draco/ron
because ron gets so worked up over it, and he turns red. biggrin.gif

My favourite is SiriusxRemus wub.gif
I've read to many yaoi doujinshi whistling.gif
Harry_Ginny777
i think i would love the slash between Hermione and Ginny. because i love them both and that would be amazing to read. and maybe a guest star of Luna would be good so yeah Hermione and Ginny or Hermione and Ginny and Luna so if any one writes one tell me about it i think that would be weird but interesting. i like this poll
phoenix_song
My favorite couple wasnt listed as one to vote for. But the Snape and Harry thing was rather funny. I've always liked Oliver Wood and Cedric Diggory. They were both one of the best characters in the books and movies, and then they're both adorable, and it would just be....well odd considering Oliver wouldnt still be at Hogwarts, but I'm guessing that little detail doesnt matter. But yes, Oliver & Cedric, just because I support good looking people. haha...Sorry.
Spencer Potter
Id seriously like to see Lucius and Harry go at it once and for all, you've had lots of meetings together, just take out the ol' wand and die!
Harry_Ginny777
hey Spencer do you know what a slash couple they are. it is hard to explain but read some of the other post and then think about it for a while. ok well thanks.
Spencer Potter
Woops, thanks for the PM, ok then Id like to see Hermione , Ginny, and Luna. But I thought it meant, fight eachother. Haha so sorry.
Harry_Ginny777
Spencer Potter,

there that is much better then draco's dad and Harry laugh.gif but yes that is the best Slash ever in my opinion. i would really like to read something like that. and i think all of the guys agree.

Harry_Ginny777 cool.gif
Spencer Potter
Haha yah, What I thought Slash meant who do you wanna see fight or scrap eachother, So I thought Lucius and Harry would make a good fight. happy.gif
wizkid_12
i voted for draco/harry...it would be such a love-hate relationship. haven't you ever heard of opposites atrracting?? besides theyre the 2 best lookin guys in the movies!!
Spencer Potter
Haha yah they are good actors and best looking but I highly doubt there is gonna be a gay couple in the movies. Well, Its not a bad thing but I doubt it.
nollafyzzil
not surprised that hp/dm won. it's BY FAR the most sexy coupling!
nelliemerk
Hermione/Ginny idk why I just do.

[Mod Edit] Hiya nelliemerk! Welcome to VTM. I've sent you a Personal Message, you can read this one by clicking on the "view new owls" link, which is located at the top of your page. smile.gif Looking forward hearing from you.
ron aka cool dude
Luna/Ginny is always nice. Their so nice to each other in the books and they're both loving charictors they fit well
witchmom
Draco/Harry would be fine. They are the same age and they have grown up together, even if constantly battling the one against the other.
Another interesting pair, although my heart bleeds in saying it, could be Lucius/Snape. they were schoolmates, they're the same age and they make a delightful contrast of colors.

Witchmom )O(
Harry_Ginny777
well i guess in a girls opinion draco and harry are great but in the guys opinion it is Hermione Granger and Ginny Weasley and Luna Lovegood, and maybe Pansy Parkinson, but mostly Hermione and Ginny is the best because they are both so pretty and they would be great i think and i think all of the guys would agree.
Lady_L_Black
It my favortie has to be draco.hermione ones. I'm not sure if there a slask thow.
hermione9
Though Harry/Draco would be very sexy and all... can't anyone see Draco/Snape??? I mean c'mon people! LOL!! tongue.gif
Emmi Weasley
The Draco/Harry slash cracks me up! There are many a community on LJ (livejournal) that have great and hillarious Draco/Harry slash. I actually have a Draco/Harry slash icon...now if only I could find it.
witchmom
No, I just can't see the Snape/Draco or Snape/Harry just because I find really weird a relationship between two people so far in age, we're talking about students and a professor!! Maybe Harry/Draco, as I have already told, or Lucius/Snape.

I can buy Harry/Severus or Harry/older men in general when it's a fic set once Harry is out of school. I'm not a fan of grownups paired with children, and I can't justify it in my head enough to enjoy anything that features that kind of pairing, whether it's het or slash. However, with the post-Hogwarts stuff, if the reasons for bringing the characters together ring true with me, I can get on board with the ship, at least for the time I'm reading the fic.

As far as ships go, HP/SS really is a hard one to write well. There is so much genuine hatred to overcome between the two characters for it to be believable that they'd fall for each other. Something like HP/DM is easier, because it's all mostly schoolboy grudges and minor offenses that can be overcome by simply growing up. RL/SB is practically canon, so that's easy to read and write, but for some reason I can't get into Harry/Ron. They're so firmly established as best friends and pseudo-brothers that I can't see them becoming interested in each other. A lot of the minor characters slash easily because we just don't know enough about them for me to have a fix on them, mentally.

I totally see Harry as gay (because what straight boy describes his first kiss from the prettiest girl in school as merely "wet"? laugh.gif ) and I can accept him with a lot of characters, but I do like H/D best. It's the whole soap opera, Harlequin romance, opposites attract thing, I suppose. I like grownup H/D more than teenaged H/D, but I'll read pretty much anything that's well written regardless of when it's set.
yuzna
wow, I am stunned. Feels like every pairing has already been discussed and I can honestly not think of anything good to add. Big fan of the Harry/Draco mixture, mostly cause it makes me laugh smile.gif There's a funny video at Yourtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Oe0XPh_LtoU which really cracks me up.

PS. The Lord Valdemort and Wormtail post cracked me up. Now that would be worth putting on film smile.gif
Estella
I would have to say Draco and Ron..its soooo funny to read Ron's reactions to Draco's insults. lol tongue.gif
born_irritating
Proud reader of Sirius/Remus...because the sexual tension is just too strong to ignore. Kind of like with Harry and Cedric in GoF, I didn't even have to LOOK for romantic undertones to find it..! JKR is such a tease. I bet she wants to write slash, but then if she did she'd probably get the boot... I guess the world of children's literature isn't ready for HOTT MAN LOVING yet. *sigh*

Anyway; S/R is totally canon. Tonks is just...uh..a diversion. yeah.

*still holding on to hope*

My fav pairing for the moment is, as mentioned above, SB/RL. I mean...those guys <ModEdit> made for each other. it's obvious. And they woulda gotten away with it too - if it hadn't been for that pesky purple-haired girl! (..hehe. Scooby Doo-reference, for those of you who couldn't figure that out) ..Also, personality-wise, they kind of remind me of my bf and I. Maybe that's why I was so attracted to that pairing in the first place. or maybe it's just because they are TEH HOTNESSS!!! I dunno.

Triangles are great as well...(TRIANGLES, not threesomes! there's a difference.) did I hear anyone say SB/RL/SS? huh huh. maybe I'm the only one who noticed the sexual tension in the Shack that night laugh.gif

Twincest fics are funny happy.gif ..yeeep! don't kill me!

now..as for that Harry Potter-bloke, I don't really care what he does, who he shags Your own question: (am I allowed to use words like these in here, anyway??)...whether it's Cho or Luna or Ginny or Hermione or Ron or Cedric or Krum or Draco or Lucius or Snape or McGonagal or Dumbledore or Hedwig or whoever. As long as that little jailbait doesn't screw up things for my R/S ship, I'm a happy camper smile.gif
I do, however, hope that Hermione gets involved with Snape at some point. that would ROCK...kind of like that film, "The Graduate", only the genders are reversed and there are..lots of...elves and trolls and magic and stuff. whoo! huh huh. dirrty.

Anyone ever stumbled across "the lubrication spell" in any fan fic?? Now that's such fabulously bloody stupid concept, honestly. or the "undressing spell"..sweet Jesus. Who came up with those anyway?? I applaude sillyness.

Dunno why I like slash so much. must be something deep and primal in me laugh.gif ..Guess it started when I was twelve, and saw this flick where two blokes were kissing...all my friends were like "EW!" and I was like "nnghhhh...*drool* ..I mean, uh, yeah, ew, how disgusting. *awkward look* " ..And then, when LOTR came, the slashfic market on the net sort of exploded, dragging me into it. Since then I've been reading all sortsa slash.
I think it might be that fact that it's taboo...but it's hardly ever sexually motivated for me (I never read PWP, other than when I wanna laugh), so I don't think that's it either. I think it might be that most females (the ones that read slash, and the ones who eventually will if they don't already) miss seeing the tender side of a man..and what's more tender and sensitive than a boy kissing and hugging and loving another boy? Usually, boys fight each other instead...I find that quite juvenile and unattractive. Testosteron overflow turns me off, man. honestly.

more manly love!!

yeah..I'm a perv. I KNOW. sue meh!

(..at least I don't ship McGonagal/Dumbledore.)

I saw a website showing harry and draco kissing how strange ohmy.gif

Ok, OK *old aunt mode on* mind the speech, dear born_irritating...this forum is also for under-underage people. wink.gif I suggest to be not so detailed...
I thought about writing to you in private but I thought that, even a little OT, this could start a discussion (mods...?).

I don't think you're a perv. Love is love, that's all. There are so many kinds of love that I can't number them. There are lots of people saying the contrary, of course.
Obviously, you can't ask for a gay hero in a novel for children, especially if you focus on the "hot" part of love. I hate to tell you this: though hormones play an important part in our lives, they make the difference between a novel readable by everyone and another rated for an older age.

I find much more offensive the SS/HG ship than a HP/DM one for example. Maybe there are people disgusted by a Remus/Sirius fic, who read passionately stories about Snape courting -to be polite- female students in the dungeons. The sense of morality is very, very relative.

About the tenderness you mentioned, I think that you can find it in every relationship, straight or gay, if there's love, affection and real concern the one for the other. I think that love brings richness in our lives. Whatever it is.

By the way, a lovely fic I've read is about a younger McGonagall and young Snape. That was wicked biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

Heh, ok I'll watch my language...for the kids. my mouth is sorta filthy by nature, see. Sorry 'bout that. unsure.gif ..I wasn't very sure what counted as "content of a sexual nature"..I thought it'd be something a little more specific than what I wrote. But now I know, though! Thanks smile.gif

Yeah, if I ever see a gay hero in any mainstream work of fiction I'll be all like "What?? Since when did these things happen??" ..I've never had any illusions of it happening, least of all in the HP-books. Nor did I expect to find any sexual content...those books are far too innocent for that kind of stuff anyway, I know that. It's easier letting the characters be straight because noone ever questions that, because it's "what's normal". Not that books like Harry Potter are supposed to deal with issues like that anyway, because fantasy/science fiction is usually not for evoking social and moral debate - just entertainment. It's usually a very simple recipe for the fantasy genre: good against evil (and snippets of straight love here'n'there). You see that in LOTR, HP and Narnia. Leave the critique against contemporary society up to indie comedies and drama flicks, right?

No, homophobic people are never really consistent in their critiqe of that kind of thing...to homophobes (and this is mostly guys, I guess) it makes perfect sense that two girls would kiss, but a pair of boys kissing is unthinkable to them. That's "ew" and "gross", obviously.

Anyway...I won't try to convince you I'm completely innocent of political incorrectness, because I've read a couple of, well, fics that are sort of, er, on-the-edge-of-legal you could say (don't get me wrong...I didn't read them because it contained underage pairings). Most of those who read HP slash or het fic probably have, as a lot of the characters are underage. But just because it's a ship doesn't mean it has to be of explicit nature. <----watching my language, see smile.gif

And about the tenderness issue; you can definitely find it in any relationship, no doubts about that. I just think it's extra special when it's between two masculine parties, because the gods will know masculine people aren't very used to being tender...*wants her boyfriend to cuddle more* so it's nice to see a couple of guys making an extra effort for each other. For example, you see a couple of girls having a friendship, and they're not afraid to hug and hold hands and even kiss each other, even if it's just completely platonic. And I think it's charming when boys do that as well, not just nervously pat each other on the back because they're afraid people'll think they're gay, like they oh so often tend to do. Also, I think it's cute when guys make an effort for love, even though being gay might not be "what's normal"...being gay is in a lot of ways harder for guys than for girls, I think. I might be wrong though, so I won't say anything with any certainty.
..Or maybe I like slash because I identify with men easier than I do women? I dunno...I just know I'll never write a Mary-Sue. I don't need to anyway, with those great characters smile.gif

Young Snape/McGonagal?? Interesting....now THAT'S more like 'the Graduate'! biggrin.gif
(PS: was I allowed to say that..?)

ok, so it's twisted a bit blink.gif , but look at it this way they are both in slytherin mad.gif ,they are both as dumb as each other ohmy.gif huh.gif tongue.gif and both Malfoy's Cronies ph34r.gif ! So why not else Put Crabbe and Goyle together!
Harry Potter Fan
mad.gif I hate all of the above. I not against all gay relationships. I would prefer to see Harry/Ginny or Ron/Hermione. Its just totally wrong. Nowhere in the books does it say anyone is gay.
xXTonksXx
im not really into any of those!!! i prefer harry/ginny and ron/hermione or the love triangle between all three (where ron and harry both like hermione its nothing to do with them being gay or anything) wub.gif heart.gif
