That's too bad about Naomi Watts not being available... Oh well, I'm always wrong in my casting choices anyway...
About Maryetta Coleman... She isn't British, is she? I cannot find anything on her other than her being in the new movie Dreamer with Dakota Fanning and Kurt Russell...
On the subject of Sarah Alexander's perkiness: I know her, mostly, as Susan on Coupling, so I can definitely see where you would see her as extremely perky. I think she could do well in a very serious role, however. I think she could carry off the kind of intensity Narcissa would require.
Cheers!

Sean Connery?! Please God, no!
I think Johnathan Pryce is a good call though, Simon Callow too. Both have a real stage presence and I think could carry off his commanding aspect very well.

However i can't really see him as Slughorn though, it would be amusing though, in that accent!! Lol

Ian Holm and Bob Hoskins are really short so i really don't think they would fit for slughorn

Slughorn is really short, at least in the book.
Hopkins, Hoskins or Holm (three H's... weird) would be the best contenders. I suspect Hoskins in the end because I can't see Hopkins going for it, and Holm has the inevitable LOTR connection which make a deal problematic...
Please not the dire Sean "I can do only one accent" Connery though, he really is the most over-rated actor ever!

I don't think Stephen Fry's physique'd suit the role. He couldn't be made into the rotund feet-don't-reach-the-floor-when-he's-sitting down Slughorn... I just can't picture that. Fry could play one of the Death Eaters instead...
I'd still go for Ian Holm.

I agree. I dont understand that huge fuss about him
I cant imagine him playing Slughorn, either and i doubt that he would like to play in a HP movie. Not to mention, that Slughorn isnt such a huge character. He wont get so much screen-time.

he's a new teacher in the 6th book....
you don't like Sean Connery? hmmm, Scottish Pride! I like connery, but i don't think he'll ake a good slughorn,
Bob hoskins...what's happened to him, has anyone seen him in any thing recently, hmmmm.
I rekcon Ian Holm will probably be best. He's the best actor there. I still like the idea of Gregor Fisher though

Hoskins still does from 2 to 4 movies a year.
He just did Beyond the sea with Kevins Spacey ,Unleashed with Jet Li and Morgan Freeman and STAY with Ewan McGregor and Naomi Watts.
I think h'd be great as Slughorn

Do you mean Narcissa or Bellatrix? Catherine Z-J doesn't look anything like I pictured Narcissa. She's much too dark. Narcissa is meant to be fair skinned and fair headed.
I'd love to see Nicole Kidman play Narcissa, but I can understand people's gripes about her. But I'd love to see her play a semi-evil character and I think she could use a lot of what was used in the Stepford Wives (post-transformation) for her.

I think Nicole Kidman wouldn't be a good Narzissa, i think she's not pretty enough and she doesn't look as arrogant as Claudia
I know that Claudia will never play the role of Narzissa (although this really isn't a fastidious role), but that's how I've imagined her

Nov 3 2005, 07:58 PM
Nichole Kidman is gorgeous compared to Watts and Claudia. I like Kidman as an actress however she isn't full of herself enough to play the role. Although acting isn't about who you are in real life, it is about who you are on screen, if she wasnted to play an evil witch, then I think she could pull it off. It just isn;t her nature to play such roles, therefore I don't think she will take it. Watts isn't right either, I don;t know what it is but she won't fit. Claudia Schiffer, no way, no talent and her looks aren't right. Catehrine Zeta - definitely not, too dark, too flashy. Maryetta is ok looking, but I don't know enough about her.
I know that the cast has too be british, but wouldn't Hudson Leick be a perfect canidate. SHe could play either Bellatirix or Narcissa.

Ok....I don't completely agree that Catherine-z-j wouldn't be that great...you never know...she's an amazing actress.
But since some people don't fully agree then I was really thinkg about who would be really good for the role of Narcissa...and I thought Saffron Burrows...Alot of you may not know who she is but she plays the role of Andromache in Troy...(the wife of Hector)...I think she's got "narcissa written all over her face....

I would suggest Alison Doody for the role of Narcissa.
She played Elsa Schneider in
Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. She was born in Ireland, has a cool, intense blonde beauty, and is just the right age, being born in 1966.
It's been awhile since she did Indiana Jones, but she was actually set to play Eowyn in the LOTR films. She unfortunately (or fortunately, depending,

), was having a baby then, and so they hired Miranda Otto for the role--so she she must still look fairly young.
I seem to remember reading in one of the HP books that Lucius Malfoy was 43, so she would be around that age as well.
Catherine Zeta-Jones is lovely, but she's also fairly famous, and if I'm not mistaken, has a pretty inflated view of her fame. I doubt she'd want this role, it wouldn't belarge enough for her.

I agree with Greg: Sean Connery would be stellar as Rufus Scrimgeour! I can just hear him say the name, too! That's a great call, Greg!
But maybe Sean could be cast in a bigger part?
Other names that pop into my head:
John Shrapnel?
Johnathan Pryce?
Cheers! |
I definitly think that Johnathan Pryce would be an excellent candidate for scrimgeour. I think he would match that role perfectly.

I have somebody! I realize he's really up there in age, but Christopher Lee (Count Dooku from Star Wars, Saruman from Lord of the Rings), would be perfect! And this would make him in literally all of the big movie franchises.

I don't think it matters if they were in the lord of the rings or not. Ian holm wasnt in it much anyway. It's just a movie half the kids(not all) probably wont know anyway. who cares if people compare it more? people compare things everyday. I can't see anthony hopkins.. Ian holm = yes.
This is a very interesting question. It took me a while to think aobut it. the actesses you have listed are all great, but I just don't see them playing Narcissa. I don't know why. They just didn't click in my head. I think I would cast Gwynneth Paltrow as Narcissa. I think she could do the "bad smell beneath her nose" look very well.

I see you playing her, lol even though I have not seen you and don't have a clue how you look. However you seam very passion about this character and your the only person I know who was thinking about acting her

To me she seam a bit of a stocker, and I would think that she would be very fun character to play, how many time in your life will you get the chance to act out that kind of character (I have not done it in any of my drama/acting class). However stockers are a bit freaking in real life lol
I wonder who will play McClaggan, he is such a funny character. But we shouldn't talk abut him because then we will be going off the topic and I don't think the mod will like that
I am really interested with Merope (Volyds mother) and I hope that they don't cute her out of the film. In a way they can't because she is a key character in knowing Tom Riddles past. Hopeful (if they don't cute her out) I will audition to play her part, I think that my acting skill will have improve over the years (however it is a very long way a way lol and I still have to decide if that character is really for me). I think her character has to embraces a lot
Anyway....Back to the topic

.... Romila Vane....If I had to pick a celebrity I wouldn't know, it really depends, the hair colour could easily be died, but to fit the part a person I have not idea

I think I got to think abut it a bit more.
