Noooo, you sillybilly...John Goodman is American, not British. I don't know about you but i don't think John Goodman looks the part of Slughorn; the actor needs to be quite old and enough to be along the same termoil as Dumbledore because they are both jolly and they are both quite excentric in their own way, except Slughorn is more of a coward (Hense why he was placed in Slytherin)

I have always imagined that Gene Hackman or Jack Nicolsan play Slughorn. I know, i know. . .it won't happen. But it is still a fun idea to shoot around with. . .
"You want the truth of the memory? YOU CAN'T HANDLE THE TRUTH!!"
Haha. . .i just had to put that in there. . .
Realistically, i honestly have no idea who will play Slughorn. As someone has already said, Clive Swift would be a great person to play him.

Thanks, Krissy15! Greatly apprieciate it. That was me who suggested him. He looks perfect doesn't he?
Everytime I read that part a Tony Blair look-a-like pops into my head.
Wouldn't that be a campaign booster?
(Honestly, getting TB to play him?! Gaa!)
I have no earthly idea. I can't think of an actor from my own bloody country, let alone the UK!
I hope that scene's in the movie. I really like it, it's one of the precious moments of the book that isn't set from Harry's point if view!

I agree that benjuk? looks like mclaggen. I kind of pictured him with dark, wavy or spiky hair, but i doubt you'll get the part. Alot of people will try out for the same person and only one person gets to be him. They might have and understudy incase the actor they really want gets real sick with something like cancer. Again he looks pretty good for Mclaggen

I had just recently saw the second episode of Dr Who and the young woman who played the witch was, i think, astounding and sensational. She is british and i think she does look the part of Narcissa Malfoy. When i saw her playing the part of an evil witch i saw she got balance just right and i feel she could easily enforse the evilness of Narcissa but stll remain a person of good strength and heart towards her loved ones (i.e Draco, her son). However, i can admit she is a little too young to portray someone who is supposed to be a mother and at the same time wife to Lucius malfoy. Nevertheless, you could imagine this actress to be sister to the newly portrayed Bellatrix Lestrange because both her and Helena Bonham carter have the same way of acting. I would have thought, though, that this actress was merely the age of thirty or perhaps younger, whereas Helena Bonham Carter was perhaps late thirties up to early forties. (Please check these details because i am not entirely sure on them myself). Therefore we may specifically need an actress who perhaps looks the same age as Bellatrix (the actress) or is around the same age as her.

I saw an interview with Richard Head on 'This Morning' and i had a quick vision of him as, i expect, The Minister of Magic. However, i do not he is at all the perfect consideration for the role, but i just wanted to let you know of the possiblilities. I would count Richard Head as being too british, and i don't exactly feel that british quality with Rufus Scrimgour, do you? I more imaged him being a person who was british yet he would have that sort of Eastern Europe kinda look about him, as if he'd transferred from Arabia or something. I don't know but i think the actor has to be someone who has an 'out-of-this-world' quality and bring the whole audience to respecting his authority, as his character is supposed to resemble the Lion; he has to look brave and impose activity about his intentions.

I hope that Bill is included in the Film as I think the story line is important to the overall theme of the books. I think that Orlando Bloom should be Bill, from the way he is described in the books I can imagine Orlando playing him.
Here is a picutre in case you dont know who he is:

yeah. I, too, can sort of imagine orlando bloom playing bill's role...i hadn't thought abt it until u mentioned it...
and orlando might want to play the role too, since it's not sidelined in the sixth book...bill DOES play an actual part in the sixth book....and besides, having orlando would spice up fleur and bill's romantic story any day!
wish someone could make a photo of orlando with long red hair and bill's earings though! i'd really like to see that

I LOVED that show too! and now that you mention it I think Onslow(Geoffrey Hughes) might make a good Slug

That's not a bad idea! He does Fit Bill's character pretty good, he's got (I'm pretty sure) long hair, and does kind of have the right figure for bill, and he's been in a lot of adventure movies. But yes, he'd be perfect !

Please excuse me while I go gag myself. Orlando Bloom as Bill Weasley?! No! What an awful idea. I've heard him suggested other places too, so don't think I'm attacking anyone around here personally. Orlando is an awful actor and would do nothing for the betterment of the HP films. Not that I care for the films anyways, but he'd definately be a huge step backwards. He's not even that good-looking. I don't know what all these little fangirls get so worked up over. He's nothing special
I think Ewan McGregor should play Bill. I know it's a longshot to get him, but I think he'd be perfect.

i don't like ewan mcgregor at all, sorry...he won't suit bill's role...and i know orlando bloom isn't that great of an actor, and i'm not one of those who're absolutely nuts over him, but i think he's a fairly good actor...not awesome, but pretty well-balanced. Johny Depp's presence nearly made him invisible in PotC, but he did a fairly decent job in Kingdom of Heaven. I won't mention LotR because he didn't impress me that much in it. Since Bill's role isn't a major, major role, i think having orlando wouldn't be a bad idea. He would attract all those crazy fans that u mentioned, even if they are anti-HP, and he won't overshadow the Trio. So it wouldn't be completely disasterous having him, but instead, it'll be quite refreshing and pleasing...besides, i'd love to see how they ruin orlando's face at the end after Bill gets attacked!

Nah. I'm sticking to my guns. No Orlando. Please!
I've been thinking about this character a lot lately and while I think Ewan McGregor would be great as Bill, I also think the actor Simon Woods (Mr. Bingley in Pride and Prejudice) would be amazing too!
Here's what he looks likeI'd be very pleased to see him as Bill. I think someone has mentioned him for this role on here before. I can't remember who said it or when though. Sorry.

But i dont think that Orlando Bloom would be a good pick for this particular role i dont know why but it just doesnt seem right!

I don't know why they wouldn't cast Bill. He plays a pretty pivotal role in HBP and they'd be stupid if they left him out.
Simon Woods just has the look of a Weasley. He's very good looking as well, just like Bill is supposed to be.
He could either play Bill or Charlie, but since I doubt they'll cast Charlie we'll stick with Bill.

hey ollie-hampson!
With writing a letter:
- say where your from and discribe yourself e.g height, eye colour things like that.
-why you want to be the character
-strengthes weaknesses
-pictures of yourself (head shot, fall length shot)
- previous experience
- and maybe even add a short video of yourself talking and acting, just so that can get a feel of your skill and get used to your accent and things)

I would love to be cast as Lavender Brown. Could you please go on my piczo and take a look at my pics and sign the shout box. Just remember not to look at the hair colour because the casting directors died The Weasley Twins, Luna Lovegood's, Hermione Granger's and Draco Malfoy's hair for there roles. Tell me what you think please!!!!
Thanks.

I think they'll cast
Lavender Brown
Romilda Vane
Cormac McLaggen
Jimmy Peakes
and maybe a few others
Speaking on a casting note
Does anyone know how old you have to be or what age group there looking for to play Cormac McLaggen?
Lav
Apr 13 2007, 06:23 PM
i don't know, but seen as he's able to try out for quidditch and he could last year though he didn't AND because hermione asks him out i would say he's probably in the year above so i would say the age ban is going to be 16-19... that good enough for you (lol)
ollie-hampson
Apr 13 2007, 06:40 PM
Shame, i never really thought of the year he's in until you posted, if only i were two years older then that'd be good enough, but is that just a guess of the age you think the person who plays him has to be to be casted?
what about jimmy peakes? do you think he'll be in the film and if so what age bracket do you think would have to play him?
Lav
Apr 14 2007, 09:08 AM
i don't really know, but with Mclaggen again, they might go up to 20 seen as he's the year above and most of the actors in the year below will be about that... i would say he was the year above because well i don't think Hermione would go for someone younger to annoy ron ( though she does pick him because ron hates him) and because there is only one year above them.
ollie-hampson do you have a picture of yourself?
Lav
Apr 14 2007, 08:42 PM
Lavender Brown
Slughorn
Romilda Vane
Cormac Mclaggen
The Gaunts
Pancy Parkinson
i don't know about Jimmr Peakes.. it's really bad i can't remember who he is
That's who i think they are going to cast.. can't wait for the Lavender Brown auditions though if they're doing Pancy as well i might try out, but i really want to be Lavender and it would only be if i was up for a laugh after being rejected from Lavender!

I don't know who they'll cast, but I'd like to be Young tom Riddle, but unfortunatley, I have blonde hair, not black and I'm not british. But whoever had the idea of the person who plays gibbs as Slughorn, good idea, but the book says Slughorn is Pudgy, and he's to skinny for the part of Slughorn.

i see her as a mildly seductive type character with the thick long eyelashes and the perfect glammer model figure ( though she is in like her fourth year so maybe not that perfect) and with dark hair and dark eyes that always seem to be watching Harry. I kind of see her like a Brooke Davis in one Tree Hill (if anyones seen that) in the first seris you know when she was very much the sexy progative one. She has to be quite powerful if you get what i mean and very bold. i see her being able to get what she wants in a sexy way, where as Lavender is very girly and gets what she wants in a more sly girly way.

At the moment im writing a letter to leavesden about audtioning for either McLaggen or Peakes but if there not casting jimmy peakes im not sure what to do because McLaggen is a 7th year and im only 14 so im kinda screwed for him but does anyone think if i make up for my age by acting more maturely and having an amazing audition does anyone think that i could get the part despite my age??
Lav
Apr 14 2007, 09:52 PM
depends what the age boundry is... because if 14 is how young they go then obviously they think it will be ok for him to be fourteen, at is if he is in the 7th year ( i said that, but that's what i think he could be in the year below) and if he is in the year below then 14 year olds wil probably be able to audition. it just depends of whether your age is in the age boundary or not

Erm you know i have a sad feeling that Bill and Fleur might not be in the film. Bill weasly is important yeah being attacked by Greyback but i have a sneaking suspision that the move directors and producers might decide that to cut it down they will get rid of them. But then again there is there weeding so i must be wrong. I hope they don;'t cut them it would be stupid.
As who would play Bill if he is in it. I'm not to sure. Really i'm not that good with Actors. But Orlando Bloom that was said... It isn't a bad idea i suppose.

I really want to audition for the part of Romilda Vane, hopefully they don't cut here in the movie.
People imagine her with long black hair and dark bown eyes and all that, well I sure do have the eyes and I used to have dark brown hair almost black, but sadly I dyed it purple/red.
So I guest if I audition I can easily dyed it back.
The only thing I don't have is big eyelashes lol (think I spelt that wrong).
Does anyone know what skin colour Romilda have? Because I have a kinda Tan skin compared to all my friends.
And is she happens to be Asain, cos of the descriptons??

i don't know who should play them, but it would make me laugh if they got tony blaire or the new prime minister, when he comes to play him, it would just be taking the mick! lol
with MoM erm i think they should get the oppostion just to annoy him (lol) i can't think of any english actors that could pull him off, so maybe they will get someone unknown to play him, but they don't really get anyone unknown to play the adults

I actually like the look of Albert Finney. He just looks so happy there. I dunno, I alwasy imagined Slughorn bering gid like Uncle Vernon but having a bit of an attitude like Lockhart. Just a bit of a pompous attitude but a bit like, sweeter. I dunno, I always kind of liked Slughorn, Harry just hates him casue he's cranky and pubescent!

Heres another fan of Albert Finney for Slughorn. I looked at the piccies on the first page and Finney was the only one to stand out.
I would have said Richard Griffiths had he not already been playing Vernon.
Technically speaking Anthony Hopkins is an american. Although he was from wales and gained a knighthood, he discarded it to take up American citizenship. So I don't know whether under the contract that JK has with Warner Bros re: British actors actually extend to Hopkins.

I saw an interview with Richard Head on 'This Morning'
"Richard"?? Dont know any actors called Richard Head. Are you not thinking of Anthony Stewart Head from Buffy, coffee ads, Little Britain and a delightful headmaster in Doctor Who 2nd series?
I dont think Ian Mckellen and Christopher lee will play another wizard for the same reasons they turned down the part of Dumbledore. And they are Far Too Old.
Ewan McGregor is Far Too Young.
Sean Connery is probably a good choice because he has retained some youthfulness, like an older Hugh Laurie both of these people might be good.
But as I was reading through the last couple of pages, I came across Geoffry Rush and thought: Aha, spot on. I read some more, came across Bill Nighy and thought: Aha, spot on.
Now I dont know who I want!!
