Bonnie Wright is a hottie flat out. Sometimes in the movies she is put into some outfits that aren't the most flattering, like weasle winter wear, but i'd say most of the time she looks great. There is a scene in OotP when she uses her Reducto charm in the DoM that's she looks great, just a perfect capture right there. Bonnie plays Ginny really well i think especially given the very scanty amount of material she has been given to work with. What scenes she's in and a part of she does wonderfully. Anyone who thinks Bonnie is not good as Ginny needs to step back, take a breather, think, and then realize they're flat out wrong. Haha just kidding. everyone is entitled to their opinion.

since when was Ginny beautiful?can anyone find a quote from the books?wasn't she only ever call very pretty, and there's a difference between very pretty and beautiful.maybe not a big difference, but not exactly a small one either.but i think Bonnie is a good Ginny, and she is really pretty.i don't remember her looking like she does now, you can tell she's grown up a bit, much like how Ginny does herself.the only thing i'm not sure about is the transition from a sweet Ginny(which is how Ginny has been portrayed in the movies, and i haven't had a chance to see ootp yet)to a snogging, flirting, so-called 'super-Ginny!'not that i'm saying that Bonnie won't be able to do it, or that she's a bad actress, just that it is quite a big change.

Well in the books it also says that Hermione was somewhat more plain, with rather big front teeth, however that isn't so in the film - she is a lot prettier in the films than she is described in the book, so I don't see why it should exactly matter if it were the other way round.

I thought she did good for the small part that she actually had in the movie. I was expecting her to have a much bigger part. She only had like two lines. Sadly ... I thought she'd be a bit of comic relief!

Though I loved the movie, I really hated Tonks. I can't tell you how disappointed I was in her. I'm not blaming Natalie Tena for it, I guess I'd have to blame Yates... She just had none of the freshness, vitality, or tenaciousness of the character; there was no bubbly, exhuberant character...just a natty-haired girl who tripped over once and said very little for the rest of the film.
Looking back now I think I'd have to conclude that she was miscast. Great pity...she was the only one I was really disappointed with.

I am inclined to agree with you on this one Louise. She was entirely forgettable. Unfortunately, the actress that I imagined in this role is sadly no longer with us. Her name was Charlotte Coleman and was in the film Four Weddings and a Funeral, she played Hugh Grants flat mate.
I don't blame Natalie Tena, she just didn't look right in my opinion.

etphonehome i agree, she didnt look right for the part, when i read the book i was expecting someone that was a little chubby and quite ugly but what we got was different. She looked pretty much well beautiful instead of what i thought i'd see.

Jul 16 2007, 08:08 PM
Oh I wasn't expecting ugly, but funny enough, Charlotte Coleman is who I had in mind, too. Utterly perfect she would have been. It's so incredibly sad what happened to her

Or that blonde girl out of Dinnerladies...erm...Sue Devaney. 'Jane', who she played, was far more like my idea of Tonks. But there we go...alas, we rarely get what we want in this life

I thought that Natalia Tena played a great Tonks, from the book I expected her to have pink not purple hair and it would be a little shorter but it doesn't matter. I also believed that she was more of a punk than she was supposed to be. But it all worked out fine..

I thought she was a wonderful pick for Tonks. Her charisma was great and I hope she gets larger roles in the up coming movies. I would have liked to see more of her fun side and more of her in general throughout the movie. They didnt play up on her to much. Granted they wanted room for other things, but I think she is a great character for the movie.

Gosh I love her.
She's just as I wanted Tonks to be. Not as Mary Grandpre drew her with short hair.
Natalia is very pretty and will look great with Remus

I thought Natalia was fab in OOTP but it was such a shame she was on screen for so little time. I think she delivered a very funny, likeable and warm Tonks and I really hope she signs on for the next 2, I would like to see her character a lot more.

i cant believe you think she is ugly! i used to think she wasnt too pretty in the other films but in this films she has been given a new style and she is good looking but maybe im looking at different photos to you guys who thinks she is ugly

I dont think people are being quite fair to bonnie.

You have to realize that this is not a perfect world! I think Bonnie plays a perfect Ginny and I wouldn't have it any other way. Yeah she may not be the most gorgeous, angel looking type thing on this planet but she's still pretty enough to be Ginny.
Yes it's true that Ginny is supposed to be spectacularly gorgeous but we're people not barbie dolls. Not everyone is perfect and for those out there that think she doesn't play Ginny well you're wrong. She's a great actress (if you really look at how she did in CoS you will notice she couldn't have been any better since she did a great job in that one)
And by the way, I think she is beautfiul!
Speaking of Hermione, it may be true she's a little more prettier than the book describes but it would be very strange if she had buck teeth if u really think about it.

I 100% agree with that. Plus, as Bonnie is getting older she is getting a lot prettier. Yes, she's not totally stunning but she's perfect for the part.
And as some of you have said, Hermione was written in as having frizzy hair and buck teeth and everything else, but Emma Watson has turned out stunning! So I still definatly think Bonnie is perfect for the part, plus she looks like a Weasley, which is just right as well

How can anyone say that Bonnie Wright is ugly? I'm a girl and everything but I think she's gorgeous! She's also a really good actress ... I find her a better actress than Emma Watson but maybe that's just me.

I think Bonnie isn't ugly but hey people are intitled to their own opinions right?
As for her acting well I feel sorry for her. They haven't AT ALL developed Ginny as a character in the movies. The only time where she has had more than 3 lines in the film is in CoS but she was so young and new to the whole acting business. It will be very interesting to see how they develop Ginny's and Harry's friendship into something romantic in the next film as people who havent read the book would be very suprised to see that Harry suddenly finds Ginny attractive even though she has been a backgroud filler for the past 2 movies. It's a real shame that her character hasn't been developed as she is quite a strong and funny one in the book. We haven't really seen "film Ginny" mature and come out of her shell much. It's going to be difficult to show that transition in the space of 2-3 hours.

When I first saw her in the film I kinda thought she was maybe too good looking, but I had imagined Tonks to be quite pretty too, but with slightly shorter hair, that was just a first impression of her though, 5-10 minutes in, and she was perfect. I think she was a great choice for the role and play it very well.

I think Bonnie Wright is very beautiful! I hate how they haven't developed the Ginny character more in the movies. She has been one of my favorite characters in the book even before the Harry/Ginny relationship. I really wish they could have had her in the movies more, but it will be interesting to see how they portray the relationship. All in all, I've been very happy with Bonnie Wright in the brief instances she has been in the HP movies as Ginny.

I think that they just need to 'glam' her up a bit. In all the movies she's been wearing quite, well dowdy clothing. I think with some nicer outfits and some make-up with her hair done nicely she could look very pretty indeed.
I also think that you guys are being a bit too over-critical. I don't think that she has to be absolutely stunning to play the role, her acting is more important than her looks. Yes Ginny is meant to be gorgeous but I think if she acts the part well then her looks aren't that important. I mean if she was really ugly then that would be different. But Bonnie certainly isn't ugly.
We haven't really seen her acting abilities put to the test yet, so I can't really say if she's a good actress or not. We'll have to see.

Lol u guys also have to realize that she was like 12 in the early movies. She is now growing up and getting Hotter!!! (somewhat). I completely agree with Lauren0891. She was wearing dowdy clothing. There are only a few people in the world that can still look hot in something like that. I think u guys need to give her a chance, because she is a good actor and looks the part. Look at Emma Watson, she doesnt look the part, (she is supposed to be alittle less attractive, but i dont see anyone complaining).

I thought that Imelda Staunton was really good as Umbridge...I thought she had the "I look really fluffy and nice but am disgustingly evil" part of her character that she is supposed to put on for the public down really well, but I think she needs to be even more outwardly evil when she is threatening someone while not in public and stuff.
Laurel
Jul 29 2007, 12:34 AM
I think that Helena Bonham Carter is a wonderful choice for Bellatrix. She looked pretty, yet totally evil enough to play the part haha. She had the dark hair and was "heavily-lidded" like it said in the book. She was exactly how I pictured her and she did a great job at delivering her lines!

Wow!!I SO agree with the Dumbledore issue! I think that Ian McKellen would be perfect as Dumble dore. Richard Harris was perfect, and the guy who is playing dumbledore now is pretty good, but he's way too easily flustered and too...hmmm...loud...not serene enough I guess. I think that Mr. McKellen would be wondereful as Dumbledore because he is just so calm and wise looking. Dumbledore is the one that Harry (and all of Hogwarts) look to for comfort in dark times, he needs to be waaay more serene, wise, mysterious, and just... calm.

I think Bonnie plays Ginny very well. I don't think she's ugly at all- just very cute. But Ginny was viewed as 'cute' for a while in the books, too (at least she was in my mind) and then made the transition from 'cute' to 'the girl that all the boys seem to want'. So I think Bonnie will be able to pull it off well enough. her hair is turning a bit more brownish, but I don't think it matters
too terribly...
We also haven't really seen
that much of Ginny in the movies until the fifth (ok, we obviously saw her in the second, but not a gigantic amount or anything...), in which case I think Ginny should have been shown a bit more as she dated. Even just slipped in a bit for the comical value of Ron getting mad. Then again, I don't remember the movie in detail and they may have very well shown that. Sorry. :
So, since we haven't seen a whole load of her, we don't really know how she'll do in movie six...but I have a fare amount of faith in her.

Ian Mckellen on the other hand...look at him as Gandalf...bleeding amazing! Can easily play calm and calculated, like Dumbledore's character, and can obviously fight as well, he also looks the part doesn't he? I actually thought Sir Ian was first choice as Dumbledore ahead of Sir Richard Harris...but obviously he was out for about 7 years doing LOTR.
Totally! I loved Richard Harris as Dumbledore sooo very much! But now that he's gone I think Ian Mckellen would be perfect for it. Sadly, with all the stuff he's got going on, I really doubt he'll be joining the cast list of Harry Potter any time soon.
The current DD just isn't right to me. And I really wish that he does a better job in Half-Blood Prince than he's been doing. He's too energetic- I know, DD is supposed to be different than your average old guy, but that's just too much! He's not supposed to be so dang angry. The anger is the biggest issue. Just watch Goblet Of Fire....totally wacked out.

Beuaty is in the Eye of the Beholder.
I for one now that ive seen Ootp and to see how she has changed since goblet i think shes quickly becoming the best looking girl in the whole thing. I would be very dissapointed if they brought someone else in.
Though i feel that way with any of the characters at this point. This is movie 6 you cant have somoene playing a character for 5 movies then switch them for 6 and 7 it wouldnt go over well no matter who it was. Death unfortunatly sometimes forces the issue.

From the fourth movie to the fifth movie Bonnie changed a lot. She is still young and will continue to change in terms of both appearance and personality. How are we to know what Rowling's idea of gorgeous is? As nick said "beauty is in the eye of the beholder."
Personally I think she will do fine in the roll. I have more of an issue with Emma Watson's portrayal of Hermione. We all have our opinions and ideas of what the movies should have been like though. Just have to give Bonnie a chance.

i for one agree with azlin--im not too fond of emma watson as hermione but still im sure theres a billion people who disagree with me...as for bonnie wright, i think that she hasnt really had a big role in the movies yet-- ootp was the biggest so far for her as an actress b/c shes getting a little older and developing more of her own acting style but w havnt reall seen more than a glimps of that and in CoS i think she wasnt really old enough to be critiqued b/c she hadnt really had a chance to develope her charater...i think shell do great in HBP b/c she has more of a prominent role so she can do more with the part

I'm going to put it plain and simple. I think Bonnie is gorgeous (She is around my age, incase you thoght i was a 40 year old man

I'm also agreeing with Azlin- Emma isn't anywhere close to the perfect Hermione Granger in my opinion. Not because of looks (though her hair is a large bit off), but the way she portrays her...
Bonnie isn't too far off from what I had imagined, but she's not exactly on the dot. I imagined all the Weasleys with more striking red hair- but not everyone is willing to dye they're hair and as long as it's over-all a shade of red, it doesn't really matter. Like the twins, in movie 4 t was more of a blond thing... and they are willing to dye they're hair.

I totally agree! We haven't really been able to see Bonnie's acting abilities yet, because she never really had a big role (except for in the second book) in the series until about the fifth book. Now that she'll be able to spread her wings, we'll be able to really get a feel for her acting abilities.
Also, in regards to her wearing "dowdy" clothing and wanting her to be more "glam" in the movies, to do that would take away from her character. She's a Weasley, and they have to buy everything second hand, so obviously her clothes aren't going to be glamourous.

Bonnie is such a lovely girl that I really can't picture another girl playing Ginny. When I read the books I actually picture Ginny as Bonnie because that's what I have seen for the last six years. They have cut her role so much in the movies that I think that they are going to cut her role in the next movie also. I think they will do what they did here with cho. They will have flashing moments of Harry and Ginny together but they won't show how their relationship ship develops. I for one am looking forward to see how she develops her acting in the next year and how good she performs i HBP.

At first I thought, 'Oh no, she doesn't look anything like Dolores Umbridge,' because I had a definite idea of what she'd look like, with a pear-shaped face topped by a tuft of hair caught in that ridiculous bow, beady eyes and big slit of a mouth... and on screen she was far too pretty!
But then, she acted quite well as Umbridge. That "sweet" voice and terrible power under that fluffy act of hers. It was very well done, I thought.

I too was skeptical at first, mostly because I had no idea who she was (I didn't know she was in sense and sensibility and much ado about nothing). But then when I went and saw the movie, she was exactly what I had imagined. Her sugary sweet voice was great. She was everything I imagined the character of Umbridge being.

apart from some appearance-wise flaws, i think Imelda did a good job. when i was watching the movie, i just felt like hurting Umbridge soooo badly!

Just like i did when i was reading the book. I just felt like killing her because the character is just so evil and annoying!
