i would choose professor mcgonagall because we haven't learnt much about her since the first book.
MOD EDIT: hiya..if you could please elaborate more in your posts that would be great..one liners are not allowed on the forums..why not tell us WHY you want to know more about McGonagall..
Dumbledore's Widow

Wow! I just voted for Dumbledore and notice that he and McGonagall are tied. I thought about voting for Minerva because I do want to know more about her. She is an interesting character. I love how she is portrayed in the movies by Maggie Smith too.
But, I decided on Dumbledore instead. I think JKR needs to tell us more about Dumbledore. Why is he so intelligent and wise? Why has he lived so long? What is his family background? It would be a real hoot if it turns out that he is either Harry's or Hermione's relative. Perhaps a great-grandfather? Could he be related to Lily and Petunia? Or James? Dumbledore is a true enigma and I want to learn more about him!

Well, i had to vote for Lily and James, purely on the basis that most people think they are yet to be as important as they will be, and yet we still no next to nothing about them. What were there jobs? What were there families? How did they earn so much money? If it was inherited then who from?

I chose Snape, because then maybe we'd understand why he makes the decisions he did, why he became a death eater, why he gave Voldemort the prophecy, why Dumbledore trusts him. I don't think at either Prof. McGonagall, Dumbledore, James and Lily, Hagrid won't throw any light on the books and reasoning. We are already learning about Voldemort. I've forgotten who else, but that's my reasoning.

i'd love to learn more about Snape because he's on of my three favorite charachters and there is still sooo mutch we don't know about him (i'd love to know)!
i really hope JKR tells us loads about him in HP7
she probebly will since he's become one of the main characters in book 6.
well we can only hope.
but hope is there not to be lost when not fond.

I've voted for Snape. He's always been very mysterious and we've seen a bit more of him in HBP but still I think that there's more than meets the eye. The Potters would've been a good second choice, their background is also vain.

And I of course agree with you, Marieke

as always...
I wanted very much JKR to reveal more about Snape in HBP and she did it but I'm sure there's still more than to meets the eye. The second choice is the potters and the third - Dumbledore.

Snape is by far the most mysterious and complex, making him the most important character to learn more about. His motives have never been wholly clear throughout the books and with him dangling on both sides of good and evil, it would be good to know what made him who he his, who he really is, how he is motivated, what are his intentions, and why does Dumbledore trust him so much. Post-HBP, he could be one of the most important characters in the book. I'd elaborate, but I'd hate to be a spoiler for anyone who hasn't managed to trudge their way through HBP yet.
Very good question indeed, i_luv_hermione.

We know so little about Dumbledoor and know that hes dead i would love to know a little more but then again the living are always intresting to so Minerva would be good as i can see her taking over dumbledoors role.
But snape don't you really just want to know more how he came to be how he is!!

I would love to learn more about proffessor Dumbledore. We know so little about him and he has already died. I don't know if Jkr will tell us something else about Dumbledore in the 7th book because of the reason that he died. But in actual fact id like to learn more of all of the people mentioned (Harrys parents, Snape, proffessr Mcgonnoggel etc..)

I would like to learn about the Marauders' childhood ans they are some of my favourite characters but since they were not there as an option I voted for another character who greatly intrigues me, Snape. I would love to know about Snape's upbringing and his activities as a Death Eater.

I'm going to be real original here and say Snape

I think I know all I want to about everyone else, but the hints we've been getting about Snape's past are pretty intriguing and I'd like to know a bit more about him. Might help explain his actions in Half-Blood Prince

I have always wanted to know more about Lily and James - well all of the Marauders because I adore the Marauder era (I'm obsessive about reading mainly Sirius-ased Marauderera fanfics)
but then again, I'm would be really intrigued to read about Snape - he is so mysterious, espcially his somewhat misted background and allegence - it would be very interesting to understand his initial love of the Dark Arts, then his decension in Death Eater status and his apparent renewed loyalty to Dumbledore - why would he do this, what caused this and exactly how intelligent and wounded is he? We caught a small glimse of his childhood - is this perhaps why he turned bad or was he always destined to do so. Does he see a part of him in Draco or does he see DD as the only one who has trusted/understood him? - there are so many unanswered questions - and whilst one may be answered or guessed at, this seems to open the floodgates for so many more
whilst the marauder era appeals for lighter reading, a bit of a laugh and would probably make me fall more in love with them (especially the Remus is a werewolf discovery), I think that the Snape is perhaps even more intriguing and very intense - I can't wait to read the 7th book to discover whether the looks of disgust was truly directed inwardly rather than at DD

I chose Dumbledore. Why, you ask? Well, ever since he died, I have been very curios about his past. We know nothing about his childhood, only that he had a brother named Aberforth. We don't even know if he is alive or not! I really want to know who Dumbledore's parents were, and how Dumbledore got so, well, brilliant. Did he go to Hogwarts? There's so much to know about him, but we know practically nothing!

I would like to learn more about Kingsley Shacklebolt, as we don't know much about him besides his job. Of the people on that list I would choose McGonnagal because we don't know that much about her past.

i chose lily and james... i like them and i'd like to know more facts about them, -about their life, their time at hogwarts, how they got together and about them working for the order...
knowing more about snape would also be interesting... he's so mysterious, but i think we'll learn more about him anyways, so i hope jk also tells us more aobut lily and james.

Snape. We don't know much about him but we do know there is more than meets the eye at first sight. How come he got the way he is? How come he acts like this? And finally: has he as much strenght as he seems to have (at least to me) or is there another Snape inside we don't know yet?

I would like to learn more about all those characters!
I'm really interrested with Dumbledore because a lot about him is still a mystery.
I wish I knew more about those characters so I can understand why most of them did the things they did.
I hope JKR gives us at least a bit a information on each of those characters in the 7th book.

i chose lily and james because we hardly no anything about them and they would probably might be important to the story. they are harry's parents after all and they were in the order, who knows what type of stuff they knew? and they are a couple that lots of people are intriged about. i would love to learn more about them! i would also like to learn more about them because they are of course are in or involved in the marauders. i am simply fascinated about the marauders and what they did! so yeah definately lily and james!

I voted for lily and james potter as they were the closest to who I really want to learn more about.I think maybe it would be best for all the marauder fans out there to learn more about them as there are so many questions that we have and I think a walk back to when they were young could give us an insight as to why they ended up like they did.
I also think that snape could be included into learning more about the marauders as he somehow links with them....

Hm. Well I voted for Dumbledore mostly because we are always hearing about how he is so powerful and has done so many great things - I would love to learn what those great things are. I'm sure that Dumbledore has an amazing and very exciting history, which really makes me want to read about his history.

Quite a few people really. Lily and James, first of all, since there is little known about them. It'd be interesting to find out more about Harry's parents. And Dumbledore, of course. I don't think anyone can argue that he lived his life to the fullest and probably had seen more things than all of the characters in HP combined. And at last, Snape. Gotta get to the bottom of that mystery (is he good or evil??)

I want to learn more about lily and James Potter. Rowling has already said that she will reveal something terribly important about Lily, and I am very curious as to what it is. Harry's parentage will likely play a large role in Book 7. Who knows what tricks our favourite author has up her sleave?
If I were to vote again, I would pick Snape. He intrigues me.

I LOVE Severus Snape. He is the most elegantly written character in the Series. I still have so many unanswered questions. The ones I want to have answered are:
1. Who loved him? J.K. Rowling said someone loved Severus, so he knows the difference between good and bad. I suspect it is Albus Dumbledore. I think he sees Snape as being the Son he didn't have and Snape sees Dumbledore as the Father he never had. At the moment I don't think it was his Mother--I don't know why, but I'm getting that vibe about her. I think he lived in a violent home and she neglected him of the one thing a Child needs to thrive--LOVE. This is why he was so skinny and pale as a child.
2. Why did he become a Death Eater? Once again I suspect it's a result of his upbringing and being bullied as a Child. Tom Riddle/Voldemort sees this and knows the teenage Snape wants nothing more than acceptance and revenge and power over those who made his life a living hell. So he promices him "Power" and "Acceptance". I think he also used the promise to get back at James Potter by making him "cower" in a corner.
3. Why did Albus trust Severus so much? I say it's more than just tears. There is something more to the story. I'm behind Dumbledore--I trust Severus Snape--something was said or done to make Dumbledore trust Snape as much as he does.
There is still so much we don't know about Severus that I want to know.

the character i would like to learn more about are Lily And James Potter (Harry's parents) because they seem really interesting. and i want to no what they did for a living ( i think they were Aurors) but that is Just me. and then i would like to learn more about Snape because i dont no if he is good or evil i think he might be on his own team like he is not good or evil he is in the middle. we never really found out to much about Lily, James or Snape we learned some things but there are still questions to them that i would like to be answered.

I would like to learn about a lot of the characters listed especially with Hagrids family and what ever possesed his muggle father to fall in love with a giant. I know if I ever came across a giant the last thing I would do is have a baby with it!!! I would run HAHAH.
But I voted Snape. If he is good then I want to know how he joined the darkside and how he made the decission to become one of the good guys.
I would like to know what House Dumbledore was in and how he defeated that other Evil wizard.(forgotten his name) And what was his secret to keeping so young at heart.
Ad what triggered off Voldemort to become pure evil and what his weakness are besides ice cream( remember he kidnapped that ice cream maker guy from Diagon Alley in the 6th book)
How Lily turned from hating James to having his baby.
I would like to know if the Malfoys blood line are all Wizards.
But we dont know anything about McGonagal!!!!!!

Hopefully we will learn a lot about the Potters and Snape in Book 7.
There's so much we need to know about James and Lily - their jobs, when they got together, their death, when they 'thrice defied' voldemort and their adult relationship with the 3 mauredors.
And of course we need to know about Severus. What pushed him to the Dark-side? And what brought him back?
I'd also quite like to know more about Petigrew's childhood

[color=#6633FF]I voted Lily and James Potter. I think if we know more about them we are much closer to hatching out the true plot of the Harry Potter legend. I was quite shocked that Voldemort didn't make it on to the top two though, I was tempted to vote him. But then I thought we already know a lot about him but when you think of James and Lily you think of some sort of crystal ball, you see an image or a thought but its all blurry.

I would like to learn about Dumbledore, all through his achievements, and his years, and wisdom. Learning how he discovered the uses of Dragon's blood, and defeating Grindelwald and how he got money and what his profession was when he left school and who his family was. I would love to learn more about Dumbledore. I find him the most ominous character because we do not actually know that much about him. I would find it very interesting.

I'd like to learn more about the marauders. James, Sirius and Peter's reaction when they found out about Lupin's "furry little problem" as James called it. Of course I voted Lilly and James on this and that would be Lilly's change of heart about James especially and of course Lupin's childhood.

I chose Snape on this poll, as he is the one that seems to be the key to the beginning and the end. He was there to hear the prophecy, he was there when Voldy tanked, and he'll be there at the end. If we knew more about his past, and his reasons for his actions, maybe we could make some more educated guesses about Book 7?
Whaddya think?
