well as described in the book, he has red cat eyes and slit-like nostrils. is voldemort, what would you expect? my question is...how did he change so much from when he was a memory, to now?

Well, we haven't really seen him yet, just one shot of his "baby" form, so I guess we still have a lot to look forward to, I just hope we get an image of full voldemort soon

From what I have seen so far of Voldemort he looks amazing. I am someone who goes for the evil characters and he looks like he is going to turn out real real, and the Death Eaters look just as good.

i, being extremely stupid, went on to google.com and searched under images for "voldemort". One of the pictures was of him, and it was obviously a picture that somebody had taken while watching the premiere. I am angry that I saw him, but let me tell you, he is almost perfect!!! I gasped when i saw it. You will not be disappointed.

That's a fake picture, I haven't seen the movie yet, but you can still tell, Harry's wearing his quidditch robes, he wears black and red during the third task. That picture has been on google images for months, even before the Goblet of Fire teaser came out, so that was like may. That's Harry I think in the 2nd movie, and voldemort wouldn't have black skin.

I loved Ralph as Voldemort, even though his mannerisms and looks weren't quite how I pictured...he sort of brought an edge of true insanity to the character. Somethign was bothering me as to how he looked, and I couldn't figure it out until now: I had pictured him as being much older. After all, he was supposed to be about 60ish, and they simply didn't make Ralph look that old. It was messing with my head, hehe.
Otherwise, he was awesome. Particularly that moment whne he was reborn.

I thought they did an excellent job with the effects of Voldemort, and Fienes did an AWESOME job playing him. However, I think the scene went really fast, like suddenly Voldemort was there and then he just starts talking and doesn't really go into the detail of his death and return and his feelings towards his death eaters like in the book. Lucius actually like back talks him. I think if there was a scene theat they should have followed the book just a little bit more closer, this was it because it just seemed really rush and The return of Voldemort is a pretty big deal so it's a scene that should have gotten a bit more attention, in my opinion

I guess I stand alone here but I thought he looked ridiculous. First of all, the fact that he was bald. I do realize that he has no hair so they should have put a hood over his head.
Secondly, his eyes are described as "wide, livid scarlet eyes" in the book. His eyes looked rather normal in the movie.
Third, in the book he is described as being whiter than a skull. For some reason he is gray in the movie.
Fourth, I always pictured him as having thick layers of robes on but in the movie he is only wearing a thin sheet of fabric.
Fifth, in the book he is described as having a high pitched voice but in the movie his voice is not high pitched.
Sixth, his presence is not imposing and he does not look very intimidating. Darth Vader always had the effect of inflicting fear into everyone that looked upon him. His presence was so imposing and darkness and evil just eminated from his body. In the goblet of fire movie, Lord Voldemort does not have this effect as he should.
Seventh, his walk is a short little scamper. He would look a lot more evil if he took long slow strides.
Overall, Lord Voldemort is a symbol of pure darkness. This effect is not achieved in the movie.

Ralph is incredibly handsom in my opinion and you can kind of see him even as Voldy so I think that kind of puts an interesting aspect in there. Obviously, we all hate Voldy and wouldn't ever want to think of him as good looking but if you know who he is in real life, it's easier to see him a handsome person (or creature, whatever you would call Voldy).

Personally, I don't think they did a great job with him. He looked too human. His voice was too low (in my opinion). His fingers were too stubby and he wasn't pale enough. His eyes weren't scary enough (they were normal shaped and not red!!) and his teeth looked kinda funny. I really think they should've made him computer animated!
He wasn't evil enough!!

I know Voldemort is supposed to have a high pitched voice but like,
I don't find that very fitting when he's like the number one evil in the wizarding world. =/ Yes, I like my villians(sp?) stereotyped into the broody, deep voiced evil.
I nearly giggled when he said Crucio in the movie in that tone.

I think that Fiennes was great as Voldemort. In HP-6 we have read that Tom Riddle has been a very handsome and attractive man. Of course his appearance has changed in the meantime but there may be still some of this attractivity behind his ugly face. And those eyes.....! Increadible! I am glad that Fiennes didn't play Voldemort with too many gestures. That look is really scary enough. He just replaced Alan Rickman as my HP actor (Alan, I still love you! But under these circumstances... sorry!) I am really looking forward to HP-5.

Voldemort was just amazing in the Goblet of Fire, to me he looked just right, just how I would like him to be. They got the right actor to play him, I don't know of too many actors who would have been able to play Volmort right but they have got that part done so well.

I totally agree with Eternal and roonil_wazlib;
I didn't like him, not at all! He was so... silly! He was taking pirouettes, dancing and sort of stuff! And also, his nose was too big, there should only be two holes! There was a bump out, there should only be two black holes! I didn't like him, not at all. He should be serious, which he wasn't...
He reminded me of the good fairy in Cinderella! Which isn't good

I think Voldemort was great!
We all knew that Ralph Finnes is a brilliant actor and i think he was absolutely amazing.
He looked like a human and im glad he did. After all he isnt supposed to be a monster. Congratulations to WB for not making him look scarier. It would have ruined his character IMHO. He is the most evil wizard of all time, not the scariest.
And i liked Finnes' voice as well.

No...another thing I disliked was the way he spoke. I've already mentioned the pitch and stuff, I but I always though he spoke in more of a whisper. And he spoke rather quickly and note that in the book he like, pauses for a mintue after every sentance.
No, he isn't what I thought he would be like. Pretty cool though. I love the thing when he's reborn!

so... voldemort...
What a weird person... Killing Harry and all... What the heck is he doing it for? In GoF i believe it said something about Voldemort going to the Potter residence only to kill Harry. How can Voldemort want only to kill Harry when Lily and James were gigantic threats to him?
Did he want them as Death Eaters? And why the heck is Fudge such a weirdo?! If he has proof that VOldemort is back, why won't he just accept it?! Dumbeldore, was the first choice for minister was he not? So why doesn't Fudge believe him? Just even a hint that voldemort may have returned should have put Fudge into a Barty Crouch-like position (You know giving the Aurors killing powers again, and such) Voldemort threatens the entire wizarding way of life, and fudge still refuses to accept that! what a noob he is...

Polanke, I have to ask, have you read all the books? Because the answers to your questions lie in the books.
First off: Why did Voldemort go to Godrics Hollow to kill Harry? - Becasue of the prophecy which is heard in full in Order of the Phoenix. It says on page 741
QUOTE
The one with the power to vanquish the Dark Lord approaches...born to those who have thrice defied him, born as the seventh month dies...and the Dark Lord will mark him as his equal, but he will have power the Dark Lord knows not...and either must die at the hand of the other for neither can live while the other survives.
So there's your answer. Harry was born as the seventh month, July, dies and thereofre Voldemort figured he was the one with the power to destroy him. Lily and James just got in the way but in doing so, Lily gave Harry the protection of love which has saved his life numerous times.
It is also said somewhere in the books, the position of which eludes me right now, about why Lily and James would never join LV and that's because they were too loyal to Dumbledore. And they were Gryffindors. the only ever, recorded, Gryffindor who went to the Dark side was Peter Pettigrew, but we can all see he regrets that decision.
Now onto Fudge. Fudge is a megolomaniac - power hungry. He has spent the last 16 years telling people their safe and to have LV back would destroy all that. Plus he knows, as you said, that everyone wanted DD as Minister so he think DD is only saying this to de-throne him, so-to-speak, and to take the position of Minister for Magic. Which is explained in GOF in chapter 36 The Parting of the Ways, where Fudge gives Harry his winnings but has a fit when confronted by the news that LV is back.
Your question was best suited for the Books forum but nevermind. I hope what I've said helps.

I think he was ok, i thought he would be more . . . scary but i thought the look like a snake was done fairly well. eyes are big thing for me so his eyes should have been different, not human.
Can anyone tell me if I am wrong in the fact that in the first film his wand was dark thick wood when we see the killing curse done on harry and in the forth film it was a light thin wood when he came back

i was really impressed about the way the dark lord looked as he came out of the cauldron.
he looks pretty creepy and snake like. i think the way he moves and talkes go together with his look, though many pictured him more scary and with red eyes as we were told in the book. but could you imagine to meet him...late at night in a dark side street...that would be pretty scary for me!
and when you remember the way he looked in CoS you see he has changed in the wrong direction!

I was impressed his face was great.
His rattling voice and deadly breathing was great.
I liked his bone like wand aswell.
My favourite bit is when the black stam from the cauldron turned into his cloak that was really clever.

For the first time ever on screen (with a full body) they did a fairly good job. His fingers were long and white. His voice had that same creepy feel to it. But what I try to do in each book is create what I think that the character looks like. The only thing that they need to change would be his eyes. They aren't the red slits that they need to be. The rest of it is perfect. It fits my description almost perfectly.

Yeah padfoot17 i think to improve him was the cat slit eyes which should be red...
And maybe i know they already do but show the veins up even more..
Other wise it is very good i think it's how i pictured him to be..

I thought they did a good job making a human look nonhuman. It is not like they could chop off his nose and ears. They made his skin very white. Changing a person's eye color is not as easy as putting in contacts. Besides, red, glowing eyes are not all that they are made out to be.

Sorry if this was mentioned earlier, but the only thing I didn't like about it was the way he holds his arms out to his side or in front of him...as if just those two parts of his body don't have gravity around them. I don't mind everything else. I understand the red eyes part...and everything else. In the theater I was intrigued by how they pulled it off...I was worried it was going to look choppy or not scarey at all, but it grabbed my attention and I remained fixated on the being - being presented to me.

I pictured Voldemort similarly to as he was shown. I pictured him paler though, with scarlet eyes like JKR described in her books, though.
I'm not sure where I stand on how I feel about what they did with Voldemort. I think they did an good job but there was something "off" with his nose, and he didn't look scary to me.

Exactly, Voldemort didn't appear scary at all! I didn't like the way he talked, acted, or composed himself. I liked the dark raspy voice that he had in the first movie. In this one, it was kind of more comedic than horror to me if that makes any sense. The way he looked was fine I guess, but he could have occasionally made a twisted evil scary smile on his face instead of looking...I don't know....normal. And the way he held his arms and fingers as if he couldn't bend them was kind of awkward.

Upon viewing Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire before becoming a fan of the series (why oh why wasn't I a fan previously?) I thought that Voldemort was quite, well, intimidating and frightening. I wasn't expecting anything on the contrary to his appearance within the film. Now however, I agree with the people who think Voldemort should have possessed livid scarlet eyes with cat-like pupils as well as whiter skin. I think his appearance would have been even more frightening if he did possess these features. Ralf Fiennes did play Voldemort well however I believe that he hadn't previously read the novel, maybe he was slightly out of touch with the essence of the character. Yes, Voldemort was conveyed as an evil, evil character however Ralf didn't master You-Know-Who's signature high pitched, cold voice. Maybe he didn't stride delicately enough and he wasn't skeletal. I will say that it might be hard to make an actor appear skeletal. I sort of pictured Voldemort to look slightly like the skeleton in 'The Nightmare Before Christmas' Disney film, only very slightly!
I liked the idea of the robes simply falling into place, the idea of Wormtail dressing Voldemort just does not seem right.
Overall I think Ralf Fiennes played a satisfying Voldemort.
