i know everyone is saying the last word is going to be scar but i'm going to disagree and say that the last word might be lived.
example: ....harry potter the boy who lived.

ive seen things like it being scar on tons of websites and other sources but i have also seen lived on countless occasions like i have seen scar but im going 2 say that the last word is going to be scar i think it will fit better with the story..

I have two diff. things, one for each situation.

first: he lives

It was over. I cant believe its over. After everything, I, I mean, I killed him. I actually killed him. I can see Ron and Hermione together and know that I have changed. I am no longer the boy who lived. Im free. Now, all I have left with me is but a memory. A memory i will never forget or wake up from as a distant dream. And now all that is left of everything I have gone through is a lighnting bolt shaped scar.

He dies:

And so it is now our time to remember him. Remember the boy who lived, the boy who saved so many of us, and constantly put himself above others. He sacraficed everything, just as his parents, james and lily, his godfather Sirius Black (gasps and whoas) and his mentor, and friend, Albus Dumbledore. He will always be remembered as the boy with the lightning bolt shaped scar.

I think that the final sentence will be:

'' Iamb happy he's gone, but there will be a symbol of him forever. it shows how big wizard he was and what big things he did. ''
'' do you mean your....? '' asked Rn/harmine
'' Yes, my scar ''

Harry got up from the ground. After having fought Voldemort, he thought he needed a break, but a certain vacation of sorts wrapped itself around his neck. Ginny had just arrived and hugged him, and Ron and Hermione had come to as well, also after being knocked around by a few death eaters.

"You know what this means?" asked Ginny, getting off of Harry's back and staring at him in the face.

"I know!" said Hermione.

Harry lifted his wand and a hat issued forth. He suddenly started tap dancing. "It means...I scream, you scream, we all scream for..." he pointed his wand at Ron who looked bewildered and uncomfortable.

"Ice cream?" He looked to Hermione for reassurance but she was smiling and clapping in enjoyment.

"No..." Harry's act faded. "We scream for my scar."

Instead of putting The End...JK will put The Scar, since there is no end...which will make us go crazy

That is a very interesting theory about the last and final book ending with the "scar". The whole series starts with the scar and if it ends with it too, the books will be coming full circle. I have no reason to see why it wouldn't be the last word. I also like the idea of it vanishing. That will be a good ending, but also an extremely sad one knowing that the books are finally over.

I've read a few pages, though not the whole topic since it surely has gotten deep, so I don't know if this has been repeated before or not, but I'm going to say what I vaguely will think happen.

As Harry thought back, to before he had met everyone in the wizarding world...he couldn't help but one thing had shaped his life. One thing that proved who he was. One thing that ruined, but enlightened his life at the same time. One thing that would always remind him of the painful, but yet joyful life he had led up until then. One thing- His scar.

Or something to that extent.

well, even i have heard that the last word will be S.C.A.R. i guess that maybe all the seven books were just a type of a flashback by mcgonagall. you know, like hogwarts is reopened and they all give a tribute to harry who god forbid dies after killing voldemort. then she says that always remember the brave boy with the scar. lets all hold up our goblets to the BOY WHO LIVED OR THE CHOSEN ONE.[COLOR=blue]

Harry, after defeating Voldemort, returned to Hogwarts and was worshipped as a hero in the Gryffindor Common Room. Everyone asked him how he did it, what trials and errors that came before him, and what Snape had to do with it.

When it was all said and done, and when all the students except for Ron, Hermione, Neville, and Ginny had gone to sleep, Ron finally said something which shocked each of them. He said "What a second...I didn't know you had a scar"

Sorry this may look like a one liner.. but I think there is a more simple line. The first thing wizards and witches looked at when they realize it was Harry Potter is his scar and that alway made him self conscious. Hence, the final line without any melodrama.
"Harry is no longered bothered when people stared at his scar"

I would love to see:

"As soon as Severus's gentle lips kissed her stone cold lips it was as if he had breathed the life back into her, Lily was alive again, Severus picked her up into his arms and carried her all the way home."

Ok seriously... mabye something like....

"Like the Prophcey stated, neither one could servive while the other lived, but neither one did, Harry was the true hero, he had rid the world of a terrible fate, but at a cost. He had sacrificed him self like his mother had done 17 years ago today when he got that infamus lightning bolt scar."

Whoa, that first one would throw everyone off HP number one Fan, especially if she was perfectly preserved...kind of makes you think...

The word "scar" will be used because Harry won´t have it anymore. The scar will dissapear from his face and the moment when he (or someone else) realizes it, will be the last sentence of the book.

The last word, we all know it, it's the codebar. If you look behind the book, the last part is the codebar. Sometimes, the number of the book, sometimes the one who did draw the front page.

But, me, as a proud supporter of they both die, the last sentence will probably be.

knowing he had to do the ultimate sacrifice, he turned out his wand to his scar...

Harry won´t die because JKR knows that originally she wrote these books for children and she cant kill Harry at the end, do you imagine those kids with their hero death?

yeah, the kids must know that even the hero can die. They must know that even if you do good, you're going to be kill in the end, so, because of that, just be bad, do everything you want, and you'll be kill long time after the hero.

What a great message to pass to those kids all around the world!!!

Seriously, all the bad must be killed if Harry died. It will show one thing. The death eater were more acting for themselves than to the others, except Voldemort. But if Harry sacrifice's himself, it will show that sometimes, in life, you must make choice that will maybe hurt you, but will change the life of thousands, even millions of people.

Yeah, you´re right in that. But I think the book will have a happy ending. Im not saying that this is what I want, Im just saying that I think so.

I'm sorry if anyone ahs already asked this but I was just checking - is it the alst word of the 'epilogue' that JK has already written - where it says what happens to all the characters that have survived - becuase if it is then I don't think it could be speech. But, it would be weird to mention the scar if Harry was dead - so maybe this is slight proof that he survives? lol I hope

I think its gonna end like, "No longer shall Voldemort threaten the Wizarding world, Nothing left but memories and a scar.

I heard that she might be changing the last word around? Maybe it was just a silly internet rumour, but anyways I think it would be interesting if the last line was:

"And alas, the boy who lived now became the boy who died"

Not that I am rooting for Harry to die, but I think that that would be a really... cool last line. Although I think it will be something like, "The only memories of those terrible years long past, was a lightning bolt scar.".

Oh well, who knows right?

Maybe Harry will use avada kedavra on Voldemort and kill him, and the last line will be something referring to the matching scar, now on Voldemort's forehead, that truly marks Harry as his equal... what about that? Sorry just a thought.

I'm willing to bet it will be something along the line of "...and it's hard to believe that this all started with one little, lightening-shaped scar"

Harry, losing his scar? Wow. That's different. I suppose he might, if he survived the battle. But what if he died? Maybe it would be sort of like...I don't know-the point of view would change, most likely. So maybe the last sentence is describing the scar on Harry Potter from another character's perspective...? It's a possibility.

I have another theory

if Harry and Neville both survive till the end do you think it will be something like..

"Neville"
"Yes Harry?"
"[here Harry explains to Neville he could have been the 'Chosen One']"
"[some line that only JK could write about how different that would be]"
"Yep, you almost became the 'Boy with the Scar'"

The One, that is a very interesting take on the ending... I like it! The only thing is, I was hoping for an ending with either the trio or Harry and Ginny... who gives a crap about Neville haha

I suspect that the last line will read:

"Harry, for goodness' sake, try some of this Mederma on that scar!"

Really, if the scar is always hurting, why don't they ever try to get rid of it? Why not put makeup or cream over it at least? It would be funny if his scar is a horcrux and he defeats it by using scar-healing cream.

To be serious finally, I don't think the last line will be dialogue. Especially not a question, because then there wouldn't be an answer. And if it's the last book, last chapter, which is supposed to be an epilogue-type chapter explaining everything to come, it wouldn't be characters talking. Perhaps it would be ironic, like they're talking about a scar other than Harry's.

So, I know my writting style is nothing like J.K. Rowling's, but please bear with me as I provide a small sampling of my Fan Fiction. Thanks! Ps, if this is too violent, somebody let me know. It's sort of a creapy ending, I know, but I really don't like happy endings. Hey, I cried just writting this, kay!

“Harry,” she whispered, leaning over him as she held tightly onto his lifeless hand, staring into his frozen eyes. “Harry… Harry!” Ginny flung herself on top of him. Tears flew from her eyes, she felt herself shaking but she could do nothing to stop it. “Harry,” she moaned, her blurry eyes pressed into his still warm chest. “We could’ve had a life time, just you and me… It didn’t have to end this way. All I ever wanted was you, Harry…”
Laughter cut into the silence, high-pitched laughter that pierced the air, and sent shivers down Ginny’s spine. “He’s dead, Ginny dear. He’s dead, they’re all dead. All that’s left to stop me, is a silly little girl whose lost her way. That’s all you ever were, Ginny dear. A silly little girl.”
“You’ll pay for what you’ve done,” she snarled. “You’ll pay, Voldemort. You will pay!”
Ginny hurled herself at Voldemort, her wand pointed straight at where his heart would be if he had one at all. She spoke the words of magick that she didn’t know, the spell bursting from her wand as another spell burst from Voldemort’s.
The beam struck her. Ginny stopped her running, her hand dropping to her side as the last of the green light faded away. Laughter echoed in her ears once more until even that faded away into the darkness. The world faded into shadows, the blackness of Voldemort’s robes. “Harry,” she whispered, then there was nothing.

Voldemort walked through the graveyard, his eyes carelessly passing over the dead children as he walked past them carelessly. Hermione and Ron lay dead on top of each other as they sacrificed themselves for Harry. Beside them were the death eaters they had taken out; seven dead at the hands of mere children.
“Fools,” he whispered, as he walked over Bellatrix and her sister, closely followed by Lucius, Severus, and the young Draco. It was a battlefield. He was the only one who would walk it alive, the only one who could emerge from the war victorious. The others were merely tools, nothing more. “They are worthless to me now.”
Voldemort’s eyes scanned the dead until they rested of the final two as they lay next to each other, their dead eyes staring into each others, unable to see. He walked over to them, his eyes staring at their forgotten wands lying useless in their dead hands.
"Never again shall you thwart me, Mister Potter. I am Voldemort, the Dark Lord. You cannot stop me.”
He reached down to touch the young boys forehead where the curse his mother had laid upon him, gave its mark. His hands pushed Harry’s hair out of his face, his finger tips lightly tracing the lighting bolt mark that shone brighter than any star. His curse had protected Harry, while destroying Lord Voldemort; defeated by a mere child, by his own curse. His own curse that had given the boy, his famous scar.

thats good piece of fiction u wrote......u could become a writer like JKR.........lol......

harry's demise is fixed and as per every story........the bad man has to die........so voldemort will die one way or another and as JKR has said earlier that she and professor trelawney said the prophecy quite precisely. so everythings gonna happen like the prophecy said........we could discuss this in the topic for the prophecy.....
and after all of it is rounded up..........that is harry is dead and of course voldemort is dead, then the phrase that would end the whole septology would be something that would link voldemort and harry..........and ofcourse praise harry........cos he died for it......

i am not that good at writing good phrases but i think it would be like the first book, when people were meeting all over the country raising their goblets to Harry Potter.......the boy who lived.......so this time it could be ....... to Harry Potter.......or to the boy with the Lightning Bolt Scar..... or something like that..........

i think,its going to end like,and that was the end of harry potter,and his scar.or voldy dies and harrys memories flash before him and then his scar goes away.

I think the use of "SCAR" as the final word could be something like:

".. and with the death of Voldemort, and all that occured to make it happen, the wizarding world had realised a new understand and tolerance of themselves and those that are different, and Harry would never again feel the pain and buring heat coming from his scar".

yea,your right it could! jk did say though that with the publishing and stuff the word could change.that is a good idea though mozartharley.

as we all know the last word is scar so heres some ideas on last sentenses.

- and she turned to him and kissed his scar.
- the green light met his eyes, he felt a deep pain, like a hard cut down in his scar.
- he took the wand out of his eye and pointed it towards harrys head, Avada kedavra, a deep echo struck harrys ears and his scar split open and his brain fell out.
- the scar

ok, i highly doubt the "brain fell out" one will happen, thats just not jk's style. i like the other ones though. i seriously think it would be "and that was the tale of harry potter. to some he is called he chosen one, to some he is not. but to me,(jk) he will always be called the boy with a scar."

i doubt jk would end it outside of the hp world and in our reality, and i think Harry is more to her than "the boy with the scar".

I'm just going to throw a couple things out there:

"He had an uncanny resemblance to his father, the only difference was his forehead did not bear the legendary scar."

"The only lasting evidence of Voldemort's wrath lies on Harry's forehead: the fabled scar."

I have heard that the last chapter in the 7th book will be about what the characters is doing later in life . But i just dont see the "scar"-conection there

yea, i dont see how she can end the book with scar."forehead" would be much better because then she could say
"the last thing voldemort could see before he fell was a scar on his worst enemy's forehead."
but since its "scar",it might be
"the last thing voldemort saw before he fell was his worst enemy's scar."

I think that it would be something like ......"and all that was left was a scar" but I like the idea of the last thing voldemort sees is harry's scar aswell.

The last sentence of the 7th book, as of a couple years ago was known to be "Harry, what happened to your scar?"

However it is now known simply that the last word is scar.

umm, could you possibly provide a source just so we can be 100% sure on that? Because i dont think JK or any of her people would release information like that because it would suggest that Harry lives unless shes changed the ending since then.

i think it willend something like this, but then there will be an epilogue.

'harry let his arm fall limp to his side, he gazed around the destroyed atrium ad let his gaze fall upon the fountain. he strode across to it, ignoring the carnage that lay around him. he looked at the shattered reamins of the fountain, feeling as if he was looking into a mirror of his life. the people he had ever loved or had ever cared for him were gone. gone from the world because of him. he knew that all of this was his fault. it had all started becasue of one little scar.'

sounds ok to me, i like the diea that the finall battle if fought in the minisy of magic don't why, i just do!

And as Harry, Ron and Hermione sat at he rememberance for all these that had lost there lives in the struggle against Lord Voldermort and his Death Eaters, Harry watched as the bar man from the Hogshead walked past. As he passed Harry happened to see the bare leg of the bar man through the slit in his robes as he was taking long ranging strides. On his leg Harry noticed a strange mark in the shape of the London Underground. It was a scar.
