I never get emotional while watching movies
So I 100% will not cry at any part, especially because I know what is coming!!! The last time I cried at a movie was from laughing so hard

....yeah, I'm a laugher hehe
I hope that they follow JK Rowling's framework while filming the scene...that should look amazing!! They will probably only be able to cast 1/2 of the atendees, though! Oh man, I wanted to see all of the people from the past books sitting for the burial of the World's greatest Wizard!!

However, I am one of the few remaining people who believes that Dumbledore is NOT DEAD!!! Think I'm crazy? Want some canon evidence?
THIS WEBSITE will surely convince you!!!!!

I really want to be tough, but I'm almost 100% sure that I'll cry
Like every other HP movie I'll go to the cinema with my best friend and we'll cry together (it's more fun when you cry together)
The only thing that could change that, is if I know beforehand that Dumbledore isn't really death. And I have to have that confirmed by JK herself (book 7) And even if he's not officialy death, there's fair chance I'll cry too. I'm an emotional disaster when it comes to sad HP endings.
I'll cry at the burial. I always cry at burials.

I think I will cry if, and only if, they do it right. Right meaning cannon. I hope they don't take too many liberties with the last few chapters. I have a feeling there is so much information there that it would be horrible to mess with it. I guess I can only hope they confer with Jo about it.
It will be fascinating to watch it though. But I agree with what someone else said, I already know it's coming. So I won't be too fussed about it. I will have high hopes for that part though.

Okay guys this thread is getting into fishy water...the thread is not about the death itself and if you think DD will die or not..it is referencing the MOVIE and if you will cry in THE MOVIE!!! if this continues to be off topic I am afraid I will have to close this down

i think i will cry.
i didnt cry when i read the book but i think i will in the cinema. especially if Dan's acting will be getting better (not that he isnt good already

). Michael Gambon is a great actor, so he will be able to handle with the scene, i have no doubt about it.

I'm pretty sure I'll cry when it happens. I didn't cry when reading the book, but I certainly had trouble sleeping for the next two days! Seeing the funeral come to life will definitely start the waterworks. I just hope I don't end up like Cho afterward...goodness.

I cried when Dumbledore died in the book, so if they do it like the book I will definitely cry. Especially because of the way he died. Like I said, if Dumbledore dies because he is really weakened from the potion and Snape kills him and it's so suspenseful, I will cry!

I
almost cried when I read his death in the book. I was so close to at the funeral, so I went in my basement so my parents wouldn't see my crying over a book

. Anyway, I really hope I don't cry in the movie because my mom, who will most likely be with me, will make fun of me for all time! And, I don't want to seem like someone who always cries in movies so.. But, sadly, I will have to wipe a few tears away when it happens..

i think ill cry if......
the dumbledore in the 6th movie would be able to make ME feel as if im close to him, as if im harry, i mean, like, in the first 4 books dumbledore's there for harry just as a friend and a guide...in the 5th book, after the death of sirius, we kind of see a more intimate relationship between him and harry, like, how he said he watch harry more than he thinks he do, or how much he wanted to protect him even if other ppl are dying left and right...and when a tear dropped from the corner of his eye when he explained why he didnt make harry a prefect. i wanna see emotions first from him (which i didnt see from him in the 3rd and i hope not the 4th movie) ....in the 6th book we see him very touched whenever harry say something...i wanna see THAT dumbledore in the 6th movie before i actually cry...i wanna see the dumbledore through harry's eyes...i wanna see the death and the funeral of the greatest wizard of all time...i wanna feel harry's loss...so i guess yeah, it all comes down to a proper script, and protect acting from dan and, erm, hagrid.

I know for a fact that I will cry...because I cried just reading the book! Honestly if they film the scene as JKR described it then I know it will be so sad... I imagine it to be a very emotional scene where you don't know what's going to happen to Harry now that Dumbledore is gone. This has to be the best scene of the harry potter movies made.

I'm not even going to pretend, I know I will cry. When/if Harry and/or Voldy dies, I will cry too. If Harry dies, I will cry rivers of emo tears and if Voldy dies, I will just cry because it's just such a significant part of the books/movies and it kind of represents the end of HP which is terribly tragic IMO.

I will most definately cry. If they do it like they did in the book, I will have a bucket under my seat ready. I bawled my eyes out while reading the books, so why not during the movie? I if I almost cried when Cedric died (in the movie) I will be flooding the theatre with tears during DD's death scene.
It's horrid. But felix, I don't think you're crazy. In fact, I supported that same theory for about, one month, maybe two after reading the sixth book. Awesome site, isn't it? It was on my favourites list for so long. But it hasn't been updated in like...ever. Okay...going off topic. Sorry!

Yeah, I will most likely cry also. I cried just reading that part in the book so I will probably cry when I see it visualy on-screen.
I didn't cry when Dumbledore got blasted by the killing curse because I was in such a state of shock but I did cry once it wore off near the end when Harry finds Dunbledore on the ground and at the funeral because JKR really takes us into his thoughts and emotions at the time and it's great!
JKR wrote it so beautifully. I really hope they can get it right in the film and not screw it up...I'll probably cry if they don't get it right.

I don't think that i personally will cry! But i think that other people will if its done well. If the director takes on a Tim Burtonesque Neo-Gothic style, the fallen hero, and Michael Gambon gives a top performance then that scene could be really powerful. On the other hand it could be made so sublimely cheesy that the audience laugh rather then cry, well we see who the director id first. These are the directors who i reckon could make people cry in the death scene: Ang Lee, Tim Burton, Peter Jackson, Werner Herzog, Mike Newell, George Clooney, Pedro Almovodar and the great Steven Soderburgh! Just thinking that when i typed Werner Herzog, how good a Voldemort would Klaus Kinski have made?!!!

I will most certainly cry!
I even cried reading it. I read it and I didn't know what to think, and then I started bawling my eyes out. It was hard to keep it from my mum too. she always reads the books after I finish with them. my dad isn't allowed to see that movie until he reads the books. or the 5th one for that matter.

i know i will cry.
Why? you may ask...
i cry in all movies.
even the funny ones!!!!
It's ridiculous! It's just, as soon as there is an emotional bit in any movie, i start getting really teary. I just can't help it! I mean, i didn't cry in the 4th book (btw, i cry in books all the time too) when Cedric died, i was just like...wow...you know. But in the movie, I knew what was coming, i hid my eyes, going "No, No!!!" and i got very teary in the scene where they arrive back at hogwarts, and Harry is crying over Cedric's body. sad! so yeah, i can guarantee that i will cry for Dumbledore. After i cry for Sirius, however!!!!
i will be very disapointed if it is not done well, though. i may, through my tears, be shaking my fist at the screen, and complaining loudly in outrage, but i will most likely still cry.

Oh, I don't know if I will cry. I'm usually pretty good at holding myself back. When I went to see GoF for the first time with my friend she was near crying at Cedric's funeral and I was just sitting there not finding it that sad, so I'm not sure.
When I say that though, I did cry when DD died in the book. If they make it exactly like they did in the book, then I will probably be searching for my hanky ....

I think that it's up to the music, and the making of that scene.
If they set the mood right, people will definitelly cry! With melancholic music, inspiring words and stuff like that. Personally when I read it I didn't cry, I kind of knew, and I'm also thinking seriously that Harry will die on the seventh book, I'm absolutely sure that It won't end with an entirely happy ending.
And then everyone will cry (do you think I'm a little sadistic?)
Anyway I hope they know how to handle it so we can cry because I think a movie is good when it makes you go through every emotion, from histeric laughter to crying really hard.
So, to conlude I'm saying that I will only cry if they set the mood right, specially because I was more fond of Richard Harris than Michael Gambon (I know it's only 1 character but I liked Richard better anyway) so it has to be superb!

Jun 6 2006, 01:34 PM
*sighs* i really hope they'll get the ending right in the film. because in the book it was great and they have to make that good in the film! please! and then...well, i think then i would cry, but it's good, like fragglecomegomibayas said, when you can laugh in a movie, and cry too. i hope the music will be alright and well, if they get the right mood it will be so touching and i would cry, i think...

I THINK I WOULD CRY IF REALLY DUMBLEDORE DIES AS IT IS MENTIONED IN THE BOOK
I think he will, ya know

I don't think I'll be crying. Mostly, because I know it's coming, but also because I was never that fussed on Dumbledore as a character anyway. I can't believe there was nothing he could do about Sirius. He always seemed to do whatever he wanted to do, which was usually great for Harry but not so great for everyone else. I just think that there were more interesting characters than him, like Malfoy and Snape. More duality about them, you know?
FFFanatic06
Jun 8 2006, 06:22 PM
Well I'm deeply offended. Dumbledore being the only person in the whole series that never did anyone any harm intentionally nor had any real thought of doing so, yeah I sort of lost it when he died. I find it revolting how some people look upon the worst characters in the book with affection. If only you could meet them so that you can really see why their villains.
If Albus is really dead then I think I'll probably, scratch that, I will stand up in the theater and salute the greatest wizard in the history of wizards. I would feel deeply sad and yes I would definetly feel the urge to cry. Albus deserves as much and I intend to give it to him. Like wise when Draco inevitably pays for his sins I will laugh at him then at the pack of over emotional nitwits who will find that sadder than Dumbledore's death. And yes, I will be cruel to them. The scene has to be done perfectly with the actors playing Draco, Severus and Harry giving it 110% because this will be the most emotionally and physically tasking scene they will have to perform before movie seven.
[Mod Edit] Hi , please be aware you can disagree with people on the forums, not bash them; don't cross this line again.

Jun 9 2006, 09:10 AM
I wouldn't take such offence if I were you. After all, everyone views the books in a different way. And I don't think I ever said I had an affection for the villians - I said I found them more interesting. Which is a different thing.
I don't think it's a good idea for you to call any fellow fan 'an emotional nitwit'. Would you like to be called that for standing up in a cinema and saluting a fictious character?
How can you be so certain that the villains are villains anyway? From the posts I've been reading around here, there's a bit of debate about that.

I always cry I movies when something like that happens, so I guarantee that I will cry. It might just be teary eyes, but I doubt it. I'm the only one in my family that cries during movies! Sometimes they tease me about it. I know that if the do it like JKR wrote I will have more of a chance of crying.

*laughs timidly* There seems to be some confusion. I wasn't refering to you, Sacred_Feminine. It was a general comment directed to no one in particular. I didn't even have you in mind. I was thinking about a few freinds of mine who seem to be infatuated with Malfoy. I apologize if any Draco lovers were offended.
Anyway, so how do you guys think they should do the scene. Me I'm hoping for a silence when Snape arrives, followed by a steady increase in some percussion style instument, followed by silence when the spell hits. I think it would be best if Snape was center of the scene right up until that moment. That Draco and Harry. Draco should look weak and completely at a lost. Harry a gradually increasing rage. Actually, I don't care so long as it's good. I'm the only Potter-freak who actually liked the PoA film. What what do you all think?
P.S. The only things we have interest in are things we have feelings for. Otherwise we wouldn't care.

I think I'll cry if;
1. Michael Gambon becomes more of the Dumbledore we know and love in the fifth and sixth movies. (sort of off-topic, but i think it sort of relates.)
2. If it's done the right way, meaning the way Jo wrote it (like many others before me have said).
3. If I'm particularly emotional around the time the movie is released.
I can only remember ever crying while watching two movies; SLC Punk and My Girl.
With My Girl, I'd seen the movie a lot of times and I was pretty emotional when I decided to watch it for the millionth time, so I bawled my eyes out.
With SLC Punk, I only cried the first time because it's just so sad (watching Matthew Lillard cry, it brings tears to my eyes just thinking about it.)
Therefore, it's going to take a lot for me to cry, but there's no doubt I'll be very sad about it, just maybe not to the point of tears. I'll be crying on the inside for sure.
By the way, my friends tell me I have no emotions, so if I cry, I hope they'll be there to see
[Mod Edit] Hiya, this post is "slightly" off topic. Keep this discussion on topic by only discussing your emotions while reading the deaths in HP. Thanks!

yes i will cry and yes im a dude but Dumbledore is all Harry had left he has not one to teach him more about his past or nothing...i will cry at the burial first of all because of Dumbledore and then Harry Brakes up with ginny...then he tell Ron And Hermione That he is leaving to find the last couple of horcruxs...and then they both said that they will go with Harry...and i really think that Ginny will go with them three to help out Harry...I really want them to get back together...

I will cry because Dumbledore is like a father to Harry. I always felt that Dumbledore can solve all of Harry's problems and that as long as he is alive, Harry will be safe. Now, he is in the mercy of Voldemort and he is the only one who can save the world of magicians. But, i've got to add that i'll cry only if the death and the funeral are presented properly.

I cried when I read the book, but I don't think I'll cry in the movie. Because it's a MOVIE and movies can never be as emotional as the books... In the movies, no one can ever exactly capture the feelings of the characters. And I know Daniel Radcliffe will make it really melodramatic and cheesy... (sorry if any of you are fans of his

) but I just don't think that the movie could make me cry, because i doubt that they will be able to portray Dumbledore as he really is in the book.
