Notice that in the posters for Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, Harry is very wary and tough looking, Hermione seems to have extreme intelligence with secrets up her sleeve, and Ron looks like he is always scared. Do not get me wrong though. I think Rupert Grint is a fantastic actor. The script developers may have gone too far though. In the book, Ron was scared, but he faced his fears for the ones he loved, and he did it with dignity

. Now he just looks like he wants to crawl to a corner to hide

and cry in. Poor Ron!

I think that the "scared face" that Rupert Grint makes portrays what Ron from the series would look like if you could just take him out of the book....
Right?! Isn't Ron always scared of something...whether it be spiders, a big test, a Quidditch match, or Apparation.....
those are just a few that quickly come into my mind.....
So, Ron is always scared, whether he, in the end, faces his fears or not.

I know a lot of people are saying stuff like that. But apparently people who have seen sneak peeks and screened (I think that's what I want) the movie say that Ron is growing up in this movie. I am appalled however at all the clips and posters that are portraying Rupert like this!
I totally agree that Rupert is "good-looking". Although I might go a little farther.

I think Ron's char is right o the nose

I think he is always been the scared one, Hermione the smart one and Harry the brave hero one. Besides he looks so cute when he is all scared like that

I think Rupert is the best actor of them all (the kids, anyway)

. But yes, they should sometimes make him a lot less scared.
I have a poster of hp3. Ron wasn't scared.

It's the best poster of any hp movie I've ever saw.
WB should try to make him less scared sometimes. It would be very, very good!

I disagree with those who say he's just the scared one. Ron may not be the star of the books or in intelligence, etc. but he certainly does play an important part in Harry and Hermione's lives. He's there for them no matter what, and he's not (at least in the way I imagine him), so afraid that he won't even venture outdoors for fear of seeing a spider or something.

Ron is always portrayed as being scared, more so in the films than in the books. I think that Rupert has a knack for making facial expressions. He has the expressions down pat.
In real life, I think that Rupert is quiet and intelligent. Nothing at all like the character, Ron. Rupert is handsome, but I find Daniel extremely good looking!

I dont think that hes scared is more like he is worried. hes always worried about anything going on in the books and well Rupert makes a good acting when he looks "worried" not scared. I mean he is in Gryffindor, he has proven that he is courageous and brave, of course sometimes he gets scared like everyone else, but he gets worried more.

I think that Rupert did a little over board of the scared look on Ron. Becasue Ron isnt always Scared in Goblet of Fire... Is he? Grrr, I need to reread GoF.

It was wrong. I can't think of any part in GoF in which he was really afraid. I voted for the first option. I'm really trying to think what Ron was afraid of at GoF...

i agree with Chacho. he looks more worried than scared.
my opinion may be a little biased, but i think Rupert did a spectacular job portraying Ron. if they had made him look any more scared it would have looked cheesy. if they had made him any less scared he would have been dull.

I think he was portrayed perfectly! Ron is always scared of something or other, and if you were in his position, wouldn't you be scared too? Voldemort getting stronger would terrify me slightly.

Well Ron is kind of the scaredy cat of the trio he is always the first one to want to turn back. And he always goes "um.. Harrryyyy." Pathetic. Just Joking, but he does get more frightened than Harry and Hermione.

i have to say this but "what's new?" Ron is always scared. He is the scardy-cat of the trio. everyone knows that. yes ron has his moments of great courage but when it comes down to things he is the one who is the first to try and turn back. and i'm not saying ron is a complete wuss of anything like that. i'm just saying that harry and hermione have more guts and are more focused when it comes to things like this.
anyone would probably be scared if they new that their best friend is going to a deadly tornament and then at the end of the year find out that the darkest person of all time has "resurected" using your best friends blood. i mean that is pretty creepy. and for ron that is probably a little too much to handle.

that is know suprise ron is always scared (ALWAYS) scared maybe they played a trick on him and put spider in his dressing room or something i dont no why he is always scared but that is what makes ron he is the only one in the trio that i scared of everything.

Bah, Ron has always been scared of something, If it wasnt from Devils Snare, to flying keys, Macho sized chess pieces, spiders, underground chamber, to Lord Voldemort returning. The easier question to ask here is: "What isnt Ron afraid of?"

I think the movies do tend to portray Ron as Harry's scared sidekick. In the books, he is scared most of the time, but he still gets on with it and he's always there to help Harry. I think in the movies they have misunderstood his character. He's completely wrong.

Umm, I can't say I'm the biggest fan Rupert Grint has got, sorry. I never got the idea that Ron was a scared sort of guy from the books. Yeah, he's got his moments, but Rupert (or the film makers, whatever) makes him look like a bit of an idiot, in my opinion.
He's in Gryffindor, for Pete's sake. Maybe my memory is really fluffy, but where exactly was he so scared? Except for the spiders (his boggart - quite understandable), I can't remember any scenes which portray Ron as scared and cowardly. Just another thing WB got wrong with their characterisation. I could write books about it.

I think that Ron is smart, cautious. Probably the one with the most sense. He should be scared, they all should with what they've had to face. Ron is definately not a coward, though. There's a difference between knowing when to be scared and being a coward. He always comes through when it counts and in that respect may turn out to be the bravest of them all. How hard it must be to follow his friends when he knows there could be mortal danger and in spite of his fears -he chooses to do so! Ron is definately my favorite of the three!

Yes, Ron is always scared of something and I think that Rupert Grint portrays his character perfectly. But I do think sometimes the directors or screen writers take his part out of context sometimes and make him appear like a real coward when in the book he isn't all that scared.

Have to agree with Suzy. Ron is wary and scared while facing a lot of thing especially spiders but he's always there to back up the other two.
In PS he helped Harry get past the obsticles to get to the pkilosophers stone.
In COS he went with Harry into the forrest even with all the spiders swarming about him, although neither expected to come face to face with Aragog.
In POA he as there to back up Harry when they thought that Sirius was Lily and James's murderer.
In OOTP he went with Harry to the ministry and fought the deatheaters.
In HBP he Hermione and other members of the DA were lokouts incse anything happened when Harry and Dumbledore were away.
Not like harry who acts before he thinks.

No, I think he looked perfect, Ron is usually scared and Rupert Grint is a fantastic actor, unlike Daniel Radcliffe who can't act for toffee (sorry if I'm offending any DR fans out there, you have your opinion, I have mine

no hard feelings?). But, yes he did look a bit scared in the posters. And FredsSweetie14, Fred DID turn Ron's teddy into a spider for breaking his toy broomstick (how can you have a toy broomstick?) and that's why Ron is scared of spiders. It's in CoS.

I think Rupirt is a good actor yes, but i think that, even in the books, ron is alittle too scared. Boys are not usually the scared ones. No affence to the girls but it is true. in most stories the girls are hidding behind their man. Srry, but i said Rupirt is TOO scarred

I think Ron is done very well. Hermione isn't always as scared of stuff as Ron is as, having been brought up by Muggle's, she hasn't been subjected to some more common wizarding fears and prejudices. The same goes for Harry.
I think, as well as being believable, Ron's nervousness and fears adds to the comedy of the character.

"Well I know why Ron Weasley is scared of spiders. SUpposedly when he was younger Fred and George put on in his bed I think. "
Actually they turned his teddy bear into a spider.
I think that Ron is a worrier more than that he is scared all the time. Hermione wants to research everything, Harry wants to charge right in there and go for it, and Ron thinks of how dangerous it is. They compliment each other perfectly!
I also think that part of Ron's problem is self confidence because he grew up with so many siblings and so poor.

I don't like Ron in GoF; in the book he's one of my favorite characters, but in the film... He's always looking afraid or mad of whatever, but in the books he's really funny and not that scared. I hope this will change in OotP.

Compared to Harry and Hermione, Ron is the more real character, the most normal. What I mean is, we have Harry, who is Hero extrodinaire, dealing with every horrible stressful thing out there. And we have Hermione who is perfect and obscenely intelligent and responsible in every situation. But Ron, he's the character almost every teen can relate to no matter what. He has his naive moments, he's still afraid of things. The typacle teen boy that's afraid of girls yet, and first really getting to know who he himself is. So I think the portrayal of Ron's fear is to make him more believable and a bit more understandable than the other two.

Ron really is the most scared of the group, and that's just part of who he is. I think the fright really brings out the best in Rupert, in addition to adding a lot of emotion to the movies.
I'm an obsessed and infatuated Tom/Draco fan by heart, but there's something adorable/admirable about Ron when he's scared... not in a way that makes my heart flutter, but just in a way that really makes the viewers able to relate to him.
Therefore I have to say they hit the mark with his character... funny, frightened, and human, really.

Ack! No no no!
Ron is not scared! Ron actually has a personality in the books, instead of just looking as though he's been hit over the head with a frozen fish or something!
I think Rupert does him an awful disservice. I've been reading the books again, and I was shocked at how
competent Ron seemed. He can do stuff, you know. He knows things. He's not just a dumb sidekick, he's actually a fun guy. Rupert plays him as though he's a useless, petty, half-witted sidekick. He's not! Aw, poor Ron. The movies have made him into a coward worse than Neville, and he really isn't. Ron's always trying to punch Malfoy in the books, whereas Rupert's character wouldn't touch Malfoy with a broomstick without looking like he's swallowed lemon juice. Not that wanting to punch Malfoy is the mark of unquestionable bravery, but the real Ron has a sense of bravado, he's not a whimpering idiot.
[/rant] Right. Feel a little better now. Carry on then, everyone...
