Even though the families are usually sorted into the same house, there's always a few exceptions, for example, Sirius Black in Gryffindor. What house(s) would your family most likely fall under if they were to be sorted and why?
My family would probably be split between Gryffindor and Ravenclaw. It depends on the family member. My mom and youngest sister are definite Gryffindors, but my other sister and me would most likely be in Ravenclaw.

Hmmm..good question, I think it wuold be between Ravenclaw and Gryffindor. I think that I would be in Ravenclaw but in the past I have been placed in Gryffindor.

My family would most likely be split between all four houses. My older borhter and me would both be in Slytherin because we are Slytherin material. My parents would be in ravenclaw because they are too smart. My younger brother and my younger sister would be in Gryffindor because they are perfect for Gryffindor. My other younger brother would be a Hufflepuff because that house suits him best.

Ooooh...interesting topic.......
-Well, I would undoubtedly be in Ravenclaw.....
-My older Sister would be in Ravenclaw as well....shes a studyaholic
-My little brother would be in either Gryffindor or Slytherin...not because he is mean or anything, but because he is VERY self-centered and gutsy....
-My mother would DEFINITELY be in Gryffindor....she is smart, brave, and has a bit of a big mouth

haha...
-And, my father, would either be in Gryffindor because he is brave and tough, or Hufflepuff because he is understanding and patient...
So, yeah, each member of my family is completely different...

Haha...nice topic.
Hm...my family, is not relating in any way when it comes to personalities...We're the people the sorting hat would have a hard time with becuase we have distinct traits, but they all blend, it's complicated, but I'll give it a try...
My pops: A Hufflepuff; He's cuddley and dedicated, but agressive and competative, so I guess there's a Slytherin streak in there.
Me mum: A Ravenclaw; she's a one of those genious(when I can't even spell genious, pity...

) who know anything that ever came out of a book. A regular Hermione in her day, very bookish, and clever. Sometimes
too clever...
Older sis: Ah...she's hard, but I'd say a cross between a Ravenclaw and Gryffindor. She's very book smart but also good at that weird sort of "out-of-the-box" thinking. And she's been known to beat up our neighbors(when we were smaller) when one of us(me or my brother) were being made fun of, so I think that qualifies her eh? Amongst other things of course.
My little bro: A Gryffindor with a bit of Hufflepuff. He's definitely a ladies man hence the Gryffindor

Whoops, let that slip, I meant he's a tough little guy even though he's a bit arrogant. And the Hufflepuff-ness from his determination and he can be loyal, he's not one to switch sides.
I'm not going to go on about me...that's why I got sorted in the Sorting thread.
Wack family eh? No inter-house unity, I suppose...

Good topic, departed_soul

My immediate family-Mom and my younger sister are probably Gryffindor, they have those qualities. My Dad has Gryffindor qualities but also has a sense of Hufflepuff for always helping out people, and is very kind.
My extended family is a different story.

For the most part, mom's side would be Gryffindors-brave, compassionate, yet stubborn. My dad's could be Hufflepuffs; but some like my grandfather are competitive to the point he used to turn the poker table over if he lost.

I have to agree with everyone! this is a great topic!
Me I would be in Ravenclaw..I am a book nerd and I love studying! I have almost all the characteristics of a ravenclaw!
My mom..I think she would be in either Ravenclaw or Gryffindor...probably Ravenclaw though...she is just like me when it come to books!!! but she is very brave! so I think that would be the gryffindor part of her
My Dad..I think he would be in gryffindor...he is very brave and strong...he is a very well rounded guy and I think he would fit best there
My Middle sister...I think she would be in Hufflepuff she is VERY quiet and studying to be a nurse..she has a calling to help people!!
My younger sister...definately slytherin...not because of the bad aspect but because she is VERY self centered..she thinks the whole world revolves around her...
Well I think that about does it for my family!! we are ALL over the board

hmm, this is a little hard.
i've been put i ravenclaw by the veritaserum sorting hat, and i agree, cos im near top of my class, and rather smart, and i'm also a perfectionist. i also think i have gryffindor qualities too though(and so did the hat) because i am a natural leader, and love my friends, and can take control in situations
my Dad would be in Hufflepuff, i'm not totally sure why, i don't think he would really fit in any of the others. he's very laid back, has certain friends, and not too open to new ppl, but loyal to the friends he has
Mum would probably be Gryffindor or slytherin. she's very ambitious, and a leader, and likes to be in control of everything (not so much in a bad way) she is very brave and emotionally strong most of the time, but can seriously hold grudges.
my younger sister would probably be in ravenclaw with me, she's really smart, and clever, but she could be in hufflepuff with dad, cos they are very alike, like mum and i are.

I actually gave my family a Sorting Hat test that I made up a while back (one with multiple choice responses corresponding to each House like you find online when you put "Sorting Hat test" into Google, you know the deal), so I can tell you the official results! My mom and my sister are both Ravenclaw, my dad's Gryffindor, and I'm a Slytherin/Hufflepuff cross (don't ask how on earth that could happen -- I tend to think they're sort of opposite ends of the spectrum). I would have thought that I'd be Ravenclaw, since I'm rather into my schoolwork (just ask Snapelover

), but you live and you learn, eh? My own Sorting Hat quiz taught me something new about my personality! I've never been officially sorted on VTM, though, which is a shame. I didn't see the thread until I'd been here for a few hundred posts, and now I feel like the sorters would have a bit of a bias when it comes to me, since they've obviously seen me posting in other contexts.

As a totally random aside, I also gave my Sorting Hat test to six of my friends -- three are Ravenclaws, two are Hufflepuffs, and one's a Gryffindor by my standards.

Nice topic. Lol, Allie. That's a bit of what I did to my family. I named them all after HP characters. My dad-Snape (

), mom-aunt Marge, grandma-McGonagall, sister-Pansy. Might seem a bit mean, hehe, but they don't mind, and the funniest thing is that they mostly respond to those names instead of their given ones.
Oh..but that's a
bit off topic, so..
Dad~I'm thinking either Slytherin or Ravenclaw. He definetly is smart. He was top of his class in college, and went to the best school in the country (seriously). Then again, he's just a teeny-wenny

power hungry. I don't mean that in a bad way, but he's always striked me as the controlling type..
Mom~Her, definetly Ravenclaw. What's odd, is that my parents went to the same college (different times though, my mom's six years younger than my dad), but they ended up meeting there..
So, I can't seem to place her in any other house.
Grandma~A true Gryffindor. She's brave, and definetly not afraid to do anything. I remember once that two geese were crossing the street in front of our house. Sadly, a car hit them. So, one of them was dead, and the other seemed to have a broken wing or leg. And, my grandma, who was making lunch and had her apron on, went out on the street (cars were passing her by), and took the duck with the broken..body part...and set it down next to the lake from across our house. Then, she took the dead goose, and put it beside the injured one. Again, sadly, the one that was injured passed on slowly. But, I still think that that was one of the bravest things I've seen anyone do.
Sister~Heh..I'm gonna say Hufflepuff. (maybe that's because I want my family divided among the four houses) I don't know if she really is all that loyal. I take in for a Ernie (however you spell his name) and Zacharias Smith type. Sort of scared, wimpy, um.. stupid.(oh..that's pretty mean

). Anyway, that's why I call her Pansy..
Oh, I forgot myself! By the way, I make my sister call me Hermione, so..that's me

. And, I'm in Gryffindor (every test I've taken put me there)
El cheeser puff
Nov 3 2005, 11:47 PM
Yeah I think my family would be split down the middle.
well... maybe not equally split. heh, but deffinetly not all together.
For example. My mom would most likely be in Hufflepuff. My pa would go in Ravenclaw. My brother would be in Slytherin, and my sister and I would probably go into Gryffindor.
Dont know what the significance of it all is. but oh well

Nov 4 2005, 02:11 PM
Yeah..Allie just can't get away from her nerdiness...erm.. mean studies.

(she is brilliant BTW.

)
Well, for me, I have been sorted, (twice by my count) into Hufflepuff. I guess because I am a pretty laid back person. It takes A LOT to really get under my skin. I like things to be even and quiet.

(Then you ask why on Earth are you a Prefect???

)
My husband, I put him in Slytherin. Yep...I married a Severus Snape duplicate, let me tell you. Snarky, sarcastic, rude and I love him.

He even is very smart and loves to Lord that over people. So yeah...he's a Slytherin through and through.
My daughter, she is 2, I would say she belongs with me in Huflepuff. She wants everyone to be happy andgets really upset if someone cries or is upset. She runs to them and tries to make it better. Then agian....she could be a ryffindor...she likes to jump from the couch...bit of a dare devil that one.
My parents, both Slytherin. No doubt about it. My sister...ravenclaw. She reminds me an awful lot of you Allie! Always working, pushing herself harder and harder....

Irresistable topic!
My dad would be in Gryffindor because of his bravery, loyalty and necause he always put the people he loved and the things he believed in before the fruits of his ambition and intelligence.
My mom died very young and I never got to know her as a person, so she is a hard one to place. From what I know and can guess, she could have been in Ravenclaw or in Gryffindor. Both my parents were courageous as teenagers during WW2.
(I think my stepmom could be Ravenclaw but is likely to be in Slytherin -- not because I don't like her, but because she is cold, calculated, greedy and selfish... I truly wish that she'll discover how to love people and respect her children and stepchildren for who they really are, but I'm afraid that this isn't going to happen)
My sister would be in Gryffindor. She gets carried away with her own cleverness and she is bossy, but her heart is in the right place. She has daring and a wonderful quirky humourous streak.
My brother - I'd say he is Gryffindor as well. He sticks to his beliefs and stands by his people, he is very loyal, caring and compassionate despite his worries. He is courageously defending his own small business against big competitors that are trying to squeeze him out and daring to venture into new areas of business while being under tremendous pressure to consolidate.
My half-brother would definitely be Gryffindor. He has a more reckless courage, like that of Sirius, and he is a bit like Fred and George, in that he is a dedicated prankster and lover of fun. He's very smart but hasn't been seduced into becoming a Percy.
My half-sister is the youngest of my siblings and I'm sad to say I don't know her well enough at all to sort her... in adversity she is quietly defiant rather than openly rebellious, she is smart and successful in her career, she is warm and caring.
I always thought of myself as a Gryffindor, I suppose mainly because of what always happens when I'm faced with the choice between doing what is right and doing what is easy. It was funny to see the Sorting Hat agreeing as emphatically as it did.
One Sorting does not fix a character, however. People change -- it's one of the main mysteries of life that the soul is capable of evolution at even its most basic level, through experience and learning.

hahah I cant believe I forgot to add my fiancee into the picture...*hits herself over the head* like really the most important person and I forget....
Anyway he definately wouldnt be in Slytherin he is too laid back and never even yells or anything...Ravenclaw not either...I dont think he has EVER finished a book
I would day probably Gryffindor because he is really strong willed, and he has more guts then I will ever have..he also likes to joke around with our friends but not to the point where he would hurt someone..and he is very spontanious..he sometimes just gets up in the morning and says 'hey I'm going to London for the day! "(London Ontario not England

about 2 hours from our house then he gets all his friends together and they go for the day...I would NEVER do something like that!
My family has already been split here. My twin sister, AKA MosbyDee is in Hufflepuff and I am in Ravenclaw. I guess we are like the Patil twins. I would imagine that my family would be widespread. We all have such different personalities. My mom would be in Gryffindor, my other sister would be in Slytherin
and my brother would probably make it into Hufflepuff, as well. I think it is neat that Jo realizes that families don't have to be the same. It is the differences that make us special and give families diemension and depth. that is what is fun.

That is a very good question. I think I'd be a Ravenclaw because I have a quick wit and knowledge about things. My mum would probably be Ravenclaw as she shares traits with me. My father, probably Slytherin. He does have a dark side.

Well, in my family there's me, my 8 brothers and sisters, and my parents.
My parents-
My dad would go in Slytherin (don't ask!) and my mom's in Hufflepuff
My sisters-
Beth and Sarah would be in Gryffindor and Ruth and Katie would be in Ravenclaw
My brothers-
David and John would be in Gryffindor, James would be in Ravenclaw, and William would be in Slytherin (again don't ask!)
I'm in Hufflepuff. We pretty much cover all 4 houses!

Hmm.. really interesting.
I am a Slytherin, and an only child, so I don't really have many people to sort...
My parents would make good Gryffindors, I think. They're both cool under pressure, and never flinch. This is sometimes to the point of being ice-veined.
My cousin would make a good Ravenclaw. He was the saludatorian of his school! My other cousin, his sister, would be a Slytherin too, because we hang out a lot, and she's a lot like me.
Hmm, everyone else I'll just say Gryffindor. I know many more brave people than I do scared ones, so why not?

I'm loving this thread!

My sister and I often discuss this very topic. The sorting ceremony stood out when I first read the Philosophers Stone. I think had we been sorted at 11 years old we might have been put in Ravenclaw as we had tons of academic potential at that age.
Online quizes have put me in Ravenclaw or Gryffindor but I'm a rather quiet and stoic character - I'd be a great Hufflepuff!
My sister thinks she would be in Hufflepuff too, but she's a really brave girl so I think she'd be sorted into Gryffindor!

I think my eldest sister would go into Gryffindor, my other sister and brother would go into Hufflepuff. My mother was very brave and courageous so I think she would have fitted great in Gryffindor. My father, I think, would go into Slytherin...but thats a different story that I'll hold off from explaining here.
My grandparents divorced a long time ago and married, so I really have three sets of grandparents. One set would definitely go into Gryffindor, one of my other grandmothers would go into Hufflepuff, and my grandfather into Ravenclaw. The others would most likely go into Hufflepuff though I never knew them unfortunatley. My aunts and uncles would fit in Gryffindor as well and my nephews would go into Ravenclaw...and my brothers-in-law would go into Gryffindor...ok...I'll stop there

I like this topic, great idea!!!!
Here's my family:
Dad:Griffindor because he thinks like a brave person, and is very loyal to the family and our friends. He's always helping others with what they need. I think he has a bit of Hufflepuff too.
Mum: Ravenclaw, she is smart. Too smart if you ask me. She got straight A's through high school and in college did very well also. She is very bookish, always reading, and has a vocabulary that I wouldn't dream of having. She is also clever.
Little Brother: Ravenclaw, like my mum, he's brilliant. End of story.
Me:Griffindor I suppose. 1. I got sorted there here in the threads and 2. I'm loyal, will stand up for my friends and am overall an easygoing and kind person.
So I guess it's a split! Griffindor and Ravenclaw.
Misto
May 8 2006, 05:29 PM
I think my dad's side is clearly Hufflepuff. Hard workers for sure but neither brilliant minded not ambitious or really brave and noble
With my mom's side I see some serious Slytherin moments. Surely ambitious, some kind of "we're better than others" and though they couldn't make up with a Malfoy this part of the family was always rather wealthy. Plus I forgot that they (or - to be fai- the majority) don't really like family members to marry "substandard"
NewDarkLord
May 9 2006, 04:21 PM
Well, my family would be a definite split:
I,me,myself, am a Slytherin.
My mother and my brother could only be in Gryffindor.
And my father, I guess Ravenclaw most probably, although he has one Huflepuff quality:He feels hard work is as important as intelligence.

My family is divided when it comes to the houses we're in

.
My older brother would go into Slytherin for sure, he's ambitious, egocentric, picks out his friends, and he's the populair athletic kid. Yup, definitely a born Slytherin.
My Mom would be in Hufflepuff, she's a hard worker, patiënt, loyal, friendly etc. She's the role model of a wonderful mother and I dare to admit that she's one of my best friends. My dad... If the hat had to sort him he would choose between Gryffindor and Slytherin, he's brave and straight forward, but sometimes rude.
I'm definitely a Ravenclaw (with some Slytherin traits).

Jun 13 2006, 05:26 AM
Uhmmm I´ve been sorted in Ravenclaw like 4 times. And frankly I can nit see myself in any other house except maybe in Slytherin.
My dad is almost a 100 % Gryffindor: Brave, strong, athletic (mostly in his youth but still)...
My eldest brother is a mix between Gryffindor and Slytherin: same traits as my dad with a lot of cleverness, very quick tempered and too over confident for my taste. Sometimes a little rude too, and definitely ambituous.
My other brother is a mix between Ravenclaw and Slytherin: physically he is thin with a very palid skin and narrow eyes, he is very smart but usually a little cruel and have lots of ambitions.
My mom is almost a 100% hufflepuff: actually she looks a little like proffesor sprout except when she is angry because then she is like a tornado.

i think my dad and brother would be in hufflepuff while my mum and i would be in gryffindor...my brother is basicly a clone of my dad (appearance and personality) while i am a clone of my mum. my dad and brother arnt the sharpest tools in the sheed

but they are really nice and wonderful people (a bit like nevile but not as clumsy) while mum and i are true heroics lol

Dan: Gryffindor
Don: Slytherin (or maybe Ravenclaw)
Karin: Hufflepuff
Doug: Gryffindor
Dwayne: Hufflepuff or Slytherin
Kristin: Ravenclaw (or maybe Gryffindor)
Kindrea: Hufflepuff or Slytherin
ME: Sorted into Gryffindor, but could easily be Ravenclaw
Duston: Hufflepuff (or maybe Gryffindor)

Kate: Ravenclaw (tough to say as she is 7)
Yes, my family is that large.

This is too funny to miss it...
I am a Slytherin with Ravenclaw traits.
My husband is definitely a Slytherin. He does always what's better for him, and he's totally self-centered.
My oldest daughter, I think she could be a Hufflepuff, because she's very quiet and committed, but too sensitive to be a Gryffindor...
My youngest, definitely a Gryffindor. She's a very Ginny-like girl, stubborn, courageous and very loyal.
But, I can't really be sure. They should take the test.

My family are all avid HP fans, but I'm sure my hubby would not want to be sorted but I'll do it for him anyway:
Me I'm in Slytherin of course, the best house
Hubby He's definately a Hufflepuff, quiet conservative and a little on the nerdy side lol
My son definately Gryffindor, he has the qualities the Gryffindors possess
My daughter, like me she is a Slytherin, even though she claims to be Gryffindor.
We have all the houses covered except Ravenclaw, which if they allowed pets I'd have to sort my Boston Terrier Sweetie into that house lol

The other three members and I in my family would all be in Gryffindor, with the exception of my dad being expelled and probably be gamekeeper (like Hagrid) for his disregard of rules. Me and my little brother would be the perfect molds of Fred and George Weasley and my mother being a Hermione type figure.

DracosLady, my family would be a lot like yours! My husband is definately a Hufflepuff, though he gets slightly offended when I tell him that. I should make him create an account and take the quiz. . .but this is my haven! My kids are toddlers, but I think I can sort them anyways. My daughter woul be a Gryffindor through and through. . .always first to try something new, always up front and in the midst of the action. . .always very defensive of her family. She's only 3! My son I would put in Slytherin. He's got a little mischievious streak. He's kind of a silent observer, looking and contemplating what's happening to measure the benefit to him to get involved. Not that he's really looking at it as ambition, but I can definately tell that he'd much rather see how something plays out befor jumping on in. I suppose he could be a Ravenclaw . . .but I think both of my children are geniuses! I'm a Slytherin, of course . . .heh. I love every second of it.

I for sure would be in any house but Slytherin. Probably Ravenclaw or Gryff. I imagine most of my family would be, too. I have a few relatives that, unfortunately, are somewhat racist (born in pre-Civil Rights South) and I'm not sure whether they'd be in Slytherin or not. But for most of my family, probly Gryff.

My family would be split between all four houses. I would be Gryffindore or maybe even Slytherin, this site said Gryffindore but others have told me Slytherin.
