I was wondering when you guys thought the movie would be released. My guess would be near the end of 2009 because the general trend is for a new movie to come out every two years, but maybe you guys have a different opinion.

on www.imdb.com, it says Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (2008), so i would assume that it would be coming out at 2008. and i would think so too, because order of the phoenix is coming out in 2007, there fore, a movie per year, sounds good to me

GoF release in 2005 + 2.5 years for OotP filming and release + 2.5 years for HBP filming and release = 2010. I give OotP and HBP slightly longer in production than GoF because they're slightly longer books and therefore slightly more complicated to condense. I believe there was more time between the PoA and GoF release than any two of the previous films -- though it's quite possible that I'm wrong; I'm not the greatest when it comes to remembering dates. 2010 is good with me -- I want this fandom to last as long as possible, and the longer it takes for the remaining films to be released, the longer we'll be keeping up on news and such. Then again, I wasn't even aware that a release year for OotP was set in stone... but if that one's definitely coming out in 2007, I'd give the sixth film at least another two years after that.

It probably depends on how badly that they want 'the trio' to be able to do all three movies. I think the longer it takes, the less likely it will be the original three.

I read somewhere that the current director wants to get through the fifth movie a little quicker than it's taken for the 3rd and 4th. So if we think that the 4th took 18 months between it and the 3rd, if that was the maximum time it would be June 2007. Considering this is the currently predicted date for the 7th book, I personally don't think it would be a good idea for them to come out at the same time. So I wouldn't be suprised for a push for one of them to come out earlier. Otherwise there's a year of absolutly nothing. No book, no movie etc. And while it's a big fandom, it will die down slightly the longer it takes to come out.

I'd like to see, if not able to come out for this time next year, the 5th movie and 6th movie to be two and a half years from now.

They've said that they are already writing the 6th movie, so I can't see why they can't be out within a year of each other. It would just mean filming them together- like they did with LOTR- than leaving it for 6 months while they put the current movie together.

So I'm hoping for a 2008 mid-year release. 2007 Christmas time if they really want to get me something special for Christmas

The trend can be a bit misleading because you must take into account the increase in length of each book. Books five and six are very long books which would most likely increase the length of those movies, and also take longer for the movie to be made.

So, I'd expect these last few movies to take a bit longer to produce than the first three. I still say a mid or late 2009 release is reasonable.

I think winter of '08 at the latest. They start filming for OoTP in Feb of '06 which means it'll probably be realieased in the summer of '07. So they would start filming HBP in the fall of '07 and it could be ready by the winter of the next year, which would be '08. I think HBP will be finished faster then GoF and OoTP too. Besides the fact that it is substantially shorter, there are also less special effects that need to go into the movie because HBP isn't exactlly action packed. Well it is, but it's more of stuff that doesn't require a lot of CGI technology to make happen.

I thought the movies used to be one per year and then they started to go to one per year and a half but the person who adapted the first four movies isn't adapting the fifth, but he is doing the sixth, so that's 2 scripts being worked on in much closer time so hopefully the sixth won't come a long time after the fifth. 2008 sounds about right then.

I agree with siverstag. Every movie website I have been to has they release date in 2008. I think the are going to follow the trend of 18 months between movies.

I think it ia possible to have theses movies out every year and a half. I don't believe age will play a factor. If anything will, it will be finding the new director and having the script finished in time.

Well theres allways a chance that the directors will gain a little common sense and start filming more then one movie at a time....Peter Jackson did it with LOTR and he was a genius for doing so u gain a lot by doing such, im sure its hard work but it pays off in the end.

Yeah that would be a really good idea. They should just film them all at the same time to allow them to keep the actors. But, that would also mean a much later release for the movies. Didn't LOTR take 2 or three years to do? So if that were to start with OotP, we probably wouldn't see another movie until like '08 or '09.

I heard on a website somewhere a while ago that it was gonna come out in '08 or '09. I think '09 would be good. November '09. It would make the pattern nice: (if OotP came out in June '07)

I believe Harry Potter 7 will come out in 2008. It would stink if it does, but according to JK Rowling she hasn't started writing it yet. The movie for the fifth book will probably come out in 2007. According to what I heard, they start filming in Febuary. But that is a different subject. Point was, they most probably will not release the book and movie togather, again. Especially since this is the last book. They will want to raise a big spectacle, and they should.

i kinda think book 7 will come out then we will see OotP that way the whole thing with the black family tree deal. Then the HBP movie will come out within 2 years of the release of OotP.

well i was on the-numbers.com and they have an article on Warner bros. which include some talk about Harry potter. well if you follow the links they have it listed as November 18th 2008, but i checked my calander and thats a tuesday, so i doubt that's right but probally close. so like GoF i think we may see another November release. yah know they should have down the filming like they did the Lord of the Rings. They filmed all 3 before they released one. now they could have modified this like doing the first three at once and then the last 4.But i guess that would be hard when the majority of your cast are kids but at least it would have solved the age issue.

I don't agree that there is a pattern. the only reason OotP is taking longer is because it is the biggest of all the books so far.
anyways OotP is suposed to be released around summer 2007 and i think HBP will be released in 2008 because the book is smaller than Gof and OotP

well on mugglenet it says that Harry Potter And The Half-Blood Prince will becoming out in movies on November in 2008 and i hope Harry potter 7 will be coming out soon after that because i can't wait to read the 7th book and watch the 7th movie it is going to be amazing

I realy dont think that it will be released in 2008 because all the original actors are staring in other films and that is already making it harder to shoot all the secns. Also, it would take more than a year to edit and do all of that stuff I mean seriously think about it CoS to PoA was about 2 years. Most likley this will happen between OotF and HBP.

I just read on MuggleNet.com that Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince will be realeased on November 21, 2008. Warner Bros. confirmed that it is indeed the actual release date.

This is so exciting. I wish it would come out sooner, but at least we know that it will be coming out in the near future. I guess it is time to start counting down the days. 2 years 3 months. lol

I heard Half Blood Prince would be coming out in the late summer/fall of 2008. It's coming out earlier than the others had because they're shooting Order of the Phoenix and Half Blood Prince nearly back-to-back.

on AOL.com it said that HBP movie will be released on November 18th 2008.

Filming of the HBP doesnt start until the Summer 2007.
Remember Dan has that West End debut? Well filming was due to begin in January but its been delayed thanks to Dan and he doesnt finish till June 9th.
So the filming process takes just under 11 months to film. Add 6 months post production that works out that the HBP will be released in November of 2008.
Just in time to beat Narnia 2 at the box office

I saw on a website that it was coming out Nov, 21(i can't remember the date but something within the 20's) 2008 so I'm assuming that it's sometime in late Nov. in 2008.

According to this site it's going to be released on Nov 27 2007 here in Australia, well Brisbane at least. It's an Australian Cinema Company that's put it on the 'Soon To Be Released' section of their site. Yet when you click the link it sats HP and the HBP (2008). So it seems they can't make up their minds. I thought that perhaps they'd set it for 2008 but at the end of the list it has the release dates for 2008, and it's not on there.

I've always thought that the Harry Potter release date have corresponded in a particular pattern. Such as, one year one film might be released in the summer and then out on DVD in the near winter, and then the next year - it will take filmmakers to shoot and complete a film a year - the next sequel will be released in the near winter followed by the DVD release in Summer or Easter. If i am not much mistaken, i, therefore, predict that HBP will be released near the winter (christmas), next year (2008) because that is what happened one film ago. So then, i predict that DH will be brought out in cinemas in 2010 of course, near the summer holidays again.
