So far the whole Harry Potter collection is very interestingly fun. The fourth & The Fifth books are very good though they are a little more exiting. Not trying to say The 1-3 are not excellent themselves but, I think the 4 & 5 are a little more exciting. Probably because they are longer or something but I just can't decide which is my favorite!!!!!!!!!!! Help!!! What do you guys think? :?:
hp123
Well I personally love the third book. It seems to be the book where everything "kind of" falls in place for Harry. He finds his godfather, he has a great Defense Against Dark Arts teacher, he finds out more about his parents.. etc. But the fifth book is also dear to me because we find out more about Harry's past and why everything is set out for him the way it is. It is quite sad though (Sirius.. *sniff*) but a great book all the same.

I think my very favorite would have to be Book 5, just because you find out so much more information, and find out more about Lily and James and of course, the prophecy. I cried though when Sirius died...poor Harry!! But I think Book 3 would have to be a pretty darn close 2nd...maybe #1a instead of #2 on the list... But I love them all...who can pick a real favorite??! Too hard!
MimolaChuck
my favourites are 5 and 3
i cant explain why, i love all of the books, its just that those 2 stand out to me more
Lordmuggleborn
I think that the 3rd and the 4th books are the best so far. I kinda think umbridge spoiled book 5 and the way harry was always moaning!
Shuntpike
My favourite book has to be PoA. We meet characters like Lupin and Sirius and it has one of the best plots out of the series. I like the way we are introduced to Hogsmeade as well. My favourite parts of PoA are the Knightbus and when they are in Hogsmeade.
hp123
Lord Muggle Born, what do you mean by Harry always moaning in book five?
meggiedodo
the best book has got to be Prisoner of Azkaban. i read that book within 24 hours and then read it again the next day. it's just so good. the plot, the characters, everything.
Naz
i love the third and the fourth books. third one because it seems like harry is gettin everything he needs (info on his parents, a godfather, etc..) and i love the fourth book because of all the action (triwizard tournament) and the yule ball
Shuntpike
hp123, Lordmuggleborn means that Harry was always shouting and screaming and feeling sorry for himself, and i couldn't agree more. I know you'll probably say "wouldn't you be angry" and the answer is yes and i think Harry is entitled to those feelings, but you've got to admit, in OotP Harry was really annoying.
NastyShort
*nods at Shuntpike's point* Yes indeed....that's why I didn't like OotP too much. Let's hope we all don't get like that at fifteen.

I just wonder what his attitude would be like in book six.
Lordmuggleborn
I mean, he's always thinking bad things and snapping over stupid things! I know he is feeling what "mood" Lord Voldemort is feeling but there is no need to make him in a bad m,ood all through the book, ok im exagarating a litte, but it was very depressing book 5, no quidditch, no more hogsmeade weekends, umbridge starts to control everything and i hate her!
peaceoflorien
::hem hem::: <<<::TAKES OUT TNT::BANG! Yeah, it wasnt exactly happy, but it makes the happy moments in the book even greater. Like the weasley is our king scene.... ::tear of happiness comes into eye:: beautiful =P
Lordmuggleborn
Yeah, but dont you wanna just hit someone when umbridge does something annoying! I remember i was reading the part where harry is having carrer's advice and umbridge is using her little cough, then my brother came in the room and i flipped on him! lol laugh.gif
Catch_22
This topic is obviously opinion, but I LOVED the third book. So much character and story. Just a great mixture. Second comes down to the fifth and first book. Just because they are both just about equally great. thats my opinon tho. heh
Jeff
1:poa.2:ootp,3:gof,4:ss,5:cos
i loved poa becues of lupin and siruis and u lerne so much bout this famliy.ootp whould have got frist if sirius had not died (y did the vile kill him that sucked so much  ) and if umbrige had not showed up :x
Catch_22
switch GoF and SS, and you've got my list. :-D

Someone had to die... sadly, it was Sirius.. he said so himself, he wasnt any use...
just me
1. GoF
2. PoA
3. OotP
4. PS
5. CoS

That's my list! I loved GoF so much because of everything that happens in it! It was so cool!!! Next on my list is PoA and OotP (I liked PoA better than OotP because Sirius dies... ) PS was so cozy and CoS was cool too! I like all of them of course...but everybody has their favourites
Naz
well mine is kind of like yours but..

1)GoF
2)PoA
3)OotP
4)CoS
5)SS

yeh i love the GoF!!
HarryPotterFanatic
Yea i had a hard time with that too. i think my fav book is GOF b/c the Quidditch World Cup and Triwizard Cup were cool to read abt. I also loved the scene with Voldemort in the graveyard. It was suspenseful and made me want to keep turning the page.
Naz
that is why i like it too. and because of the yule ball!!
Snuffles
i like GOF because of the dragons and harry going underwater, also the maze and cedric diggory and yes of course!the yule ball
rupertlvr81
I was wondering when ppl were going to say they liked GoF!

My reasons are different though... It starts a revolution, it marks the beginning of the Second War against You-Know-Who...

Yeah it has the whole Yule Ball and the Triwizard Tournament aspect in there and Cedric's death, but really, the whole point of the book was (in the title of the last Chapter in this book) the beginning. The beginning of something like what happened before The-Boy-Who-Lived defeated the Dark Lord, not to mention the start of the Weasleys' Wizard Wheezes. I'm getting way too into this. Here's my list:

1. GoF
2.CoS
3.OotP
4.PoA
5.SS

There ya go! biggrin.gif laugh.gif biggrin.gif laugh.gif
Half Blood Princess
GoF and OotP are my favorite, the rest I love as well of course, just in no order.
DancingVeela
POA and GOF are my favorites. OOTP is good too... but then again, the others are as well!

Yeah... Harry was a bit annoying in OOTP. I was nowhere that bad when I was 15 (or at least I hope not...)
Mrs.Black
My Favourite one yet is OoTP...I love how JKR put it together (even umbridge...for the book would be nothing without Umbridge) and how I could never put it down. I think that OoTP will be my favourite one even after the 6th and 7th come out...but, who knows?
aleja23
The best book is G of Fire, that one is the best, the three tasks are awesome!!!!, the foreign students, the yule BAll its great, i love that part, and quidditch world cup, everything its perfect biggrin.gif, and after that one i like the P of A, because all the changes, and the one I dont really like is the O of the P, the action happens so quickly, Not like the 4th one that is all the book important.
Ginebra
Of Course, the best boock is GoF (El Cáliz de Fuego). THIS BOOK IS THE BEST!!!!!!!!!!!!
BellatrixBlack
The best book hands down is the 3rd one. I mean come on, Harry has the urge to kill for the 1st time, Hermione slaps Darco, Ron gets his new owl (and we all know why), we get introduced to Remus and Sirius. I dont know, but I just love this book out of all 5, I like how the Whomping Willow and Shrieking Shack ger explained. The time turner was awsome too, okay I'll stop, lol.
1. PoA
2. OoP
3. GoF
4. CoS
5. SS
Miseria
I just don't know if I liked OOTP that much. I guess I was expecting something waaay different and better and then it just didn't deliver. And I noticed alot of you didn't care much for CoS, I thought it was great! But then again liek all of you my favorite was GoF....no wait PoA! NO! CoS....no no no Ps..no maybe it was OOTP. Awe man!! I can't decide at all anymore!!
LuciusMalfoy
I say that the PoA was the best book. I've liked that book since I first read it, and I can't really explain why I like it so much. Maybe because it was the first one I read. I dunno. It's my favorite and then my fav. after it is OotP because it gives you so much information. And the 3rd one is the only one that doesn't really have Voldemort in it. I mean, not really. He's mentioned, of course, but it's mainly about Sirius and Peter. It is a great book.
tashluvsdan
Ok..this is gonna be long! Well, this is my list.. but we have yet to read books 6 & 7.. I'll update in the future! lol.

1.) PoA- Why I like PoA the best is because a lot of my favorite characters get introduced (ex: Sirius, Lupin), I thought that Marauder's Map was brilliant, & most of all Harry learns the truth about so many things in the past. There are many more reasons, but unfortunately I don't want to bore ppl.
2.) GoF- I think it was because Harry's 4th year was so different from the rest, it was unique.. there was a tournament going on, other witches & wizards from different wizarding schools, THE YULE BALL (I loved it!), and what most of you say.. how it all begins, Voldemort's return and all.. oh yea, I thought the 3 tasks were also brilliant!

*whew*.. glad I'm done! I love the other too, but these two are my ultimate favorite ones!
Ginebra
I don't like OotP. Probably is because Sirius died in this one. My fave is GoF, this book is the best!!!!!!!!!
My favourite chapter is the Yule Ball, is the funniest chapter in the book, and, of course, I LOVE THE COUPLE RON/HERMIONE!!!!!

And I HATE Bellatrix Lestrange... IS THE WORST CHARACTER OF THE BOOKS, I HATE HER!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think all people say that PoA is their favourite book is because the film was released now. If GoF be released now, these people would say that this is their favourite book... This is my opinion.
Half_blood_queen21
Hello everyone. My fave books are 4 and 5. The fourth book is so exciting, with the triward tournament and the yule ball and stuff like that. And ootp is absolutely great. its exciting from the very begining. I love 4-5 so much. I learn alot. those are the 2 books in the series that i can read over and over again without getting bored.
Wednesday_Adams
I love angsty stuff. Which makes me quite fond of the third, fourth, and fifth books. They're all angsty in their own... dark and melodramatic... way! biggrin.gif
Mrs.Black
I agree with you, Wendsday_Adams, I totally love Angry stuff. My fave was OoTP, and although I hated it when Snuffles...well, you know, it was still really great. PoA and GoF would come next for sure.
Nosferatulafemme
I love the third one, cause Lupin and Sirius comes in and rocks the whole story! I love them... The fifth one is also good, but I dont like it cause Sirius dies... Bad Rowling... sad.gif
kreacher_the_house_elf
I love all the later ones with a much more mature Harry. So 3 and 5 are my pick with Harry discovering more about his past and having to deal with it. rolleyes.gif
doomed_renascence
i'm not gonna get lazy now, lol so i'll type in the names.

1) Prisoner of Azkaban and Goblet of Fire (i really cant choose)
2) Order of the Phoenix
3) Socerer's Stone
4) Chamber of Secrets

i loved Prisoner of Azkaban because we get to learn a lot more information about harry, hogsmeade [sp] is introduced and we get introduced to lupin and sirius (i'm wondering...why do we refer to lupin by his surname and sirius with his first name?) and yes, harry wants to kill someone, and hermione slaps draco happy.gif just like BellatrixBlack mentioned.

the goblet of fire was amazing because of the three tasks, and moody (even if it wasnt the real him) introducing the three curses. the yule ball was excellent, and plus we have a taste of hogwarts having something in common with muggle schools. and it was funny to see everyone trying to find dates, and fussing over what to wear biggrin.gif in addition, ron and hermione's being a couple in the later books is clued.

the order of the phoenix...i liked how everyone was trying to live in sirius' house, and we get some background info on sirius' family and how he lived, and other information about lily, james, and snape. plus, i liked tonks happy.gif. i loved how the fred and george made use with their new products and how they left hogwarts in such a funny fashion. despite all of this, i didnt like the way harry got frustrated over everything. sure it was expected, and you can't blame him for being angry, but it made ron and hermione worried. and you wouldn't want your best friend to yell at you 24/7 right? i hated umbridge but she was a nice way to fill the book (i felt like she completed book five for some odd reason) i didnt like the fact that cho became such a...um...female dog towards harry. she should know that it's not easy repeating a persons death that you had witness. and of course...sirius' death (or is it? hmm...). whew...

i put the sorcerer's stone before the chamber of secrets because i just loved the way how harry was shocked to know that he was this famous wizard that nearly killed the most foulest evil there was. i also liked how dudley said "mummy, has daddy gone mad?" ahahahaha. even if i thought this one was good, i liked the other three better. probably because more things happen, but hmmm i dont know =\

the second book...i dont know. the thing with tom riddle sorta confused me for a few days. it is as though this book was random things put together to make a plot. dont get me wrong, i liked this book too, but just not as much as the others.

okay, i'm done. hehe. you must have been really bored if you read this post biggrin.gif
kreacher_the_house_elf
I dislike (not hate!) PS/SS and CoS. I don't know why. But i think the reason I love Hp was because I read the third one first and the whole Sirius thing enthralled me!
Ems
Prisoner of Azkaban!! laugh.gif
Just because that is when the Marauders are first talked about! Go Marauders! biggrin.gif
Jessica6541
I love the 3 and 5th book, there are really some excting stuff in there! biggrin.gif
Ems
Yeah Ootp is my 2nd favourite because there is LOADS of Sirius! But when he died.... sad.gif
Rankin
I liked OotP, mainly because of all of Harry's changes. He's turned into proper stereotypical, hormone fuelled teenager. Always moaning, being depressed and shouting at people. He's like me biggrin.gif . And, me being a Snape fan, it was nice too see that everything he said about Harry's dad over the years were true.

GoF is by far my fave, though. The Tri-wizard Tournie rules. And I liked Krum. And Bill Weasley, he's just the epitome of cool.
kreacher_the_house_elf
I am at the moment thumbing through my battered and torn copy of GoF ~for those interested my parents lifted the ban~ *Woo Hooo biggrin.gif * anticipating the next movie! So I would say it is my favourite! biggrin.gif
ssssssssss
I think JK's best book is Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. It would've been OotP, but I think #5 has a few boring parts.

For me, Harry Potter and the Half-Bood Prince is one of the only books that's just good through and through - it's never boring! smile.gif

After HBP, it would be OOTP, then POA, then GOF, then CoS, the SS (I only counted the books in that) smile.gif smile.gif smile.gif .
pigwidigon
okay I am going to keep this thread open and I locked the other thread that had to do with favourite books..because there seems to be a demand for this in a poll...so feel free to discuss away..but I am going to change the title to Favourite book by JKR so the search picks it up easier
silverstag
personally i voted the 5th book because it was a bit longer than the others and it also had good wording.also i think it was J.K.R.s best so far but just for now when the 7th book comes out im going to go crazy!!
im_confused11
I voted for HBP because I think it is by far the most dramatic and most oringinal. GOF is my second choice, because I love it's sense of adventure.
LukeSim
I think that the Goblet of fire was the best action book. The only thing i found boring was the riddle house at the beginning. (Chapter 1)
