I haven't seen it yet cause I live in Australia and it isn't release until tommorrow. My brother though, who is travelling in Europe saw it in London last week and who has never read the books and is not planning to has said that the movie is awesome and coming from someone that hasn't read the books that is a big thing.

Hi everyone! I just watched Harry Potter and honestly, I have to say that I really wasn't so satisfied with what I saw. I really understand the part that they have to cut some parts off...but then, if you're someone who hasn't read HP yet, you would end up asking a lot of questions. There were a lot of unclear parts there...But anyway, it was okay. I felt pretty sad after that. sad.gif

I'm disappointed in many aspects by the GoF movie....

1. Many of the characters behaved the way they wouldn't have behaved. Take the twins, for example. They wouldn't fight themselves. Or Dumbledore. Gambon is pathetic. His Dumbledore is angry, helpless. Barty Crouch Jr isn't the innocent - looking boy who yells "Father, I'm not a Death Eater!" they've made him confess he is and he was proud of it.
2. There aren't stitches in the wizarding world, people! And Harry wears stitches on his face.
3. The Death Eater would never tell: "Lord Voldemort" to Voldemort and Wormtail does that. Come on, people who wrote the screenplay! It seems that you've read only 1 book, GoF and if you had wanted to make a good film, you should have read more! LV wants people to be scared... the Death Eaters name him "The Dark Lord"!
4. Where's Snape showing Fudge his Dark Mark? Where is it said that he went to Voldemort? There's a scene with Snape hitting the kids instead. Was it really more important?
5. The scene in the maze is messed up. Where are the obstacles?
6. If somebody is imperiused, he doesn't have misty eyes. The main sense of the curse is to make everybody not know about that the person is under a curse, he looks like usual.

I could write and write. There are some good points but the film is messed up. They had so much money and they couldn't even read the books properly. One huge disappointment.

After reading more replies and seeing particular things pointed out, I have realized much more how the film fell short. I had noticed that several things cut short and cut out completely, but I agree with people who said that there should have been a longer movie or two parts.

I hope that they look at the long term plan for the movies and decide to tell the story a little more in-depth. I figure they want to keep the whole series of books to 7 movies, but I think some of these books really need two parts.

Although PoA was done a little better in some ways, I really thought there were key parts left out of that movie as well, such as the relationship between James, Sirius, Lupin and Pettigrew when they were younger and being animagi(sp?) as well as creating the marauder's map. The story of how and when Harry received the Firebolt was wrong as well, although some may think thats a minor detail I thought it was important.

Just a couple of thougts, but I definately think that although entertaining, we'll need to see the story followed more closely in the next movie to satisfy a lot of us.

[B]I Loved it and agree with everyone talking about omissions they should have envolved the elves and molly but also didn't harry lean a lot about defense against the dark arts in the book that was a major thing to leaveout as well! None the less I loved it!

I saw it at midnight last night.

What was JK Rowling thinking letting them make this movie the way it was?? Okay, I'm willing to accept the fact that there was not ONE PLAY shown for the Quidditch World Cup, and the complete rubbish that was the first task.

However!! *this is me ranting, it's in no particular order*

1) Barty Crouch Sr. does not die the way he did.

2) Whatever happened to Dobby, Winky, and S.P.E.W?

3) Where was Percy, Charlie, Bill, Ludo Bagman, Molly Weasley, and the Dursleys?

4) Why wasn't it mentioned how Hagrid and Madame Maxime are 1/2 giants, and why wasn't the story published by Rita Skeeter about it?

5) You never found out that Rita Skeeter was an unregistered animagus.

6) Was LV dancing in the graveyard?? Was he prancing around like a fairy???

7) There were, what, 6 Death Eaters that showed up at the graveyard?? ohmy.gif

8) They never went into detail about how the Longbottoms were tortured into insanity. Granted, they did mention it, but that's all it was, a mention.

9) There was no Sphinx, Blast-Ended Skrewts, or ANYTHING ELSE in the maze! It was just moving hedges.

10) LV in the movie has human eyes. Now, yes, he has the slits for a nose, but he is also supposed to have red eyes!

11) The WHOLE PART where Dumbledore sends Snape and Hagrid on their missions is cut out. Don't you think Snape going on his mission is just a teensy bit important????

That's all I can think of at the moment, but I know there's more.

I agree the movie was definately rubbish compared to the book.
Thaere were other things which of course i will mention below:

1.Harry did not get given the tri-wizard tournament winnings.
2.He did not give those winnings to fred and george.
3.in no part of the film do fred and george mention that bagman payed them with fake gold.
4.I really really wanted to see the magical creatures lessons, the blast ended skrewts, the annoying ***** Rita skeeter get caught in a jar by hermione and the sphinx.

Finally saw it!! Opening here in Venezuela >> Tomorrow... but I got into a premiere.. SO it was great and all Really good effects in fact what stayed in the movie stayed really nice.. but they cut HALF the book.. I mean it was exagerated.. none of Winky and all that.. (kind of the MOST Important thing).. They give it too ceenter of attraction the whole dating and the Yule Ball scene.. they could have managed better the time and get at least the mentions of everything.
Another thing.. Dumbledore the desperated one.. I wasss sooo angry when he almost killed harry grabbing him in the throat.. dry.gif Indeed Harry was scared.. ha!!
They should have put the cemetery scene longer, i mean LV was so desesperated.. with a cute little eyes! I imagined it more scary with Eyes in form of Cat's eyes and Red.. HAHA yeaahh I totally agree Aurelia Hepburn with that! LV was Dancing.. he didn't inspire angry or hate or wiseness.. he was talking.. well almost rapping!! I think it needed more suspense, and darkness that scene... he wasn't evil at ALL..

And they put scenes that even didn't happen in the book... like the whole thing in the lake with Neville when comes Hermione and Ron and make a story really lame..... dry.gif And a lot of mistakes, like in a part the pictures didn't move... etc

I would like to add that a person that hadn't read the book it get's REALLY confused.. they don't explain nothing... All my friends that didn't read the book, were Like blink.gif what???? in every scene..

Well my 'desahogo'
Bye wink.gif

it's the best movie ever! i should say of all the three harry potter movies! actually i also love the fourth book! and even loved it due to the movie! the movie's wonderful! eventhough there are deleted scenes... like the spew. i simply love the way mike newell directed it coz' it simply fascinates the fans! the tasks were very challenging and the graveyard scene, evethough short also approved my appetite! i was really affected and hooked to it! especially the emotional part of amos diggory and cedric before and after the task! it almost made me cry! all in all GoF film's excellent! thumbs up! biggrin.gif
hpcrazy
It was awesome! The best HP movie yet! The Quidditch World Cup scene was disappointing though. And the Cedric dying-Voldemort rising again scene was great! Awesome special effects.
It was so dark and different from the other movies and sad too.
pheonix song
I liked the effects. I liked most of what I saw. But I was disappointed in some of the little things that were left out that are important down the road. I was so disappointed in Michael Gambone's Dumbledore. He is not a Richard Harris (who was perfect!) and I expected that, but his vision of Dumbledore fell way off the mark. I read that when asked about his thoughts on Dumbledore's character he said he only reads the lines in the script, which means he never read the books and has no clue what Dumbledore is about. Too bad. The movie was choppy. I think that there were bits in there that if you hadn't read the book you didn't fully understand what was going on.

Hi everyone!I've just saw the film and I thing that it's better than the other four one!i really liked stanislav ianevski may be beacause he is a Bulgarian...but I thing that his part in the film is small because he didn't have many dialoges in the scense!i didn't like that they have changed many of the main things in the book!but i steel thing that this is the best film of Harry Potter! biggrin.gif

I'm sorry if I have some grammatic mistakes but I'm not very good at english! dry.gif

Don't get me wrong the movie was great! i loved it but that's just how i feel, my parents didn't read the book so when we came home my dad was like "what's goin on how did this happen, and this were did he come from, who is that guy,...." it was good though!

Also it seems that while some parts of the book would take a little while to explain, they still should have thought about this a little more.

one scene I was disapointed they left out was right at the beginning where Fred, George, Ron and Mr. Weasley go to pick up Harry, get stuck in the fireplace, and then we see what is the beginning of Weasley's Wizard Wheezes when they "drop" a ton tongue toffee that Dudley eats. That would have taken, what 3-4 minutes and would have been hilarious.

And yes, I know its not nearly as important as some of the other things that were changed/left out, but what can I say, I love my comic relief.

I agree with what most people have pointed out regarding the movie. Thought it was enjoyable to watch, from true Harry Potter fans, we all know we expect more! cool.gif

It was amazing!!! It was really funny! Ron was killer!!! and Cedric...oh god...hahaha...I loved It!!!! pretty nice movie..I also liked the twins!! fred and George!! and Harry was also amazing

it was something missing...let me think...A LOT OF SCENE WERE CUT...and a lot of charcters are missing. the rest of it was great...especialy the yule ball. tongue.gif
Daena
They cut out lots of important things from the movie. Like when Harry gives the twins the price money for their joke shop, or the parting of Dumbledore and Fudge. Hagrid and Snapes mission, that's important. You also get a little confused at the world cup, it's beginning one minute and then *Poff* your back in the tent.
I also think that there was quite few Death Eaters in the graveyard, it was less then ten of them! Where the heck was the rest of them? But it was cool when Voldemort called them. And I didn't like the way Lucius hair stuck out from under the hood either it was plain wrong if you ask me.

And the first task was a waste of screentime that could have been used to do something with. But the dragon was quite impressive.

Krums and Harry's talk concerning Hermione, I would've liked to have that in it to. And Harry destroying Cedrics bag would have been fun too.

And by the way that scen in the end with the veritaserum wouldn't it have been enough with three drops. Snape clearly states that "Three drops of this and you know who himself will spill his darkest secrets."
Then he just pours it down barty crouch jr throath.

We also have the dementors who suck barty crouch jr's soul dry. I don't think that they mentioned that in the movie, but I can't be sure

Skeeter. It's not revealed that she's and illeagal animagus either and I think that that's pretty important.
There are more things that I could complain about but I think you get my point.

What I mean to say with all of my complaining is that they've kinda destroyed the feeling of the Harry Potter universe. But I hadn't had much hope for the movie since PoA. But the movie had it's sunny sides like Nevilles "I've killed Harry Potter" and Snapes smacking Harry and Ron on the head. And some of the special effects were good. By the way was Skeeter making a pass on Harry?

But the movie was to fast, and skipped imoprtant things and I think that they could have done a better job. I just didn't like but, I don't regret seeing it either.
johnzonh
I'm not going to re tell everything that people have said so far....but I do think that had some of the sub plots been mentioned....then other sub plots would have to be covered... And the movie would have been easily another hour long. What I mean is if they went into the crouch /winky relationship.....then more would have had to be explained....as well as more about how bartty jr. Got out of azkaban...how moody alerted the ministry in the beginning with the dust bins....

Ludo bagman being out was disappointing....as they had dumbledore handling many of his parts. It was sad to see it out of the movie...but in the end....it was not a necessary sub plot. The twins were fabulous anyway....with or without the whole Bagman thing.

I was esp. Pleased with neville having a greater....and deeper role.... And the opening sequence with the portkey was just plain incredible. I appreciated the action this movie had...well over some of the slowness of the last 3 movies. The sequences for the tasks were incredible. The dragon with harry on the roof wasn't in the book...but scaling Hogwarts rooftops was really cool to see. Last word or two........... The ferret was the BEST.

Ok when is OOtP out?? Jeez 2007? Comon!

I heard it was either they cut out a bunch of scenes or make it into 2 movies. But the Yule Ball was great too.
ronozzy_82
It was pretty good...I was just disappointed by how much they cut out! Malfoy was only in one scene! I was also really looking forward to the giant spider and the sphinx in the maze, Winky, the Quidditch Match, the veela, the leprechauns, Rita Skeeter as a bug....I could go on forever....
Other than that it pretty was sa-weet.

the new director sucks!!!
we wants chris columbus back boooo!!!
they was really good mind you but there were actually very important scenes that were suppose to be added but however the movie was just too good!!
KRUM was just the best!
raissa_duboc
well...i really liked the film, the efects, most of the actors and stuff
however, i think there were too much cut scenes...u know, the book has a lot of important things that the film doesn't show...but i know that they couldn't have put all the parts of the book, so, i'm not complaining and i say that the film was very very very good!
thamix_diggory
Itīs perfect!
Like the third one, this film was wonderful.Itīs brilliant and suspenseful and amazing!I have only one thing to complain about:the film could be longer, when I sit to watch the film, it seemed it was already time to leave....
however the film is great!!!!!!!!!
And in this film all the actors or almost all the actors is beautiful, specially Cedrico heīs perfect and handsome and hot and cute.......
Well I love it!!!!
thatīs all....

Wow, this is my first post in a long time, but I had to make an appearance and post my thoughts.

First, I have to say that i enjoyed the movie a lot. I was a little disappointed with how the beginning was rushed and the fact that they put Barty Crouch Jr. in the beginning with Voldemort and Wormtail. I was also mad that they didn't sho much from the Quidditch World Cup either.

Apart from that, the movie was excellent. The trio has really grown up since the first film, and so has their acting skills. The effects in this movie was amazing, especially the Hungarian Horntail and the first task. The third task, to me, was under developed. I especially wanted to see some of the creatures placed in the maze, specifically the sphinx.

The ending was a little short, and left a few questions unanswered, especially if the people has not read the books. They left out the scene where Fudge argues with Dumbledore and doesn't want to believe that Voldemort was back. I think this may pose a problem when the fifth movie comes out because some people may not know why certain events may happen.

All in all, I am sure everything would work out. But in my opinion, I feel like this movie was better than it's three predeccesors.
razzberry2
Okay... I've been holding off doing this until I had the chance to see the film uninterrupted, so I could focas on it. The first time I went we left before the second task, the second time I went was after an afternoon of not so well mannered frivollity, so I couldn't take it all in, but the third time I went, I went on my own and sat down with a bottle of water and watched. So now maybe I can give an informed opinion. Not that anyone else should care what I think. tongue.gif

What I am about to say has been said all over this thread so feel free to fall asleep now...

Wasn't too keen on the QWC.

The trio seemed to be missing some of their chemistry?

I would have liked to have seen a bit more of Snape. I'm not a big fan of his, but his importance in book 6 and 7 means we really should see more of his character development along the way.

Dumbledore ... what can I say. He's not how I pictured Dumbledore. Michael plays a rather energetic, unpredictable Dumbldore who has far more aggression than I ever saw in Dumbledore. He didn't fit the role of Harry's stability that entwines him to Hogwarts, and I think the way he was played, that Harry wouldn't have developed the relationship they do in the books.

The tasks were brilliantly done, I have no problems with the direction or acting or special effects, even though they varied slightly from the books, I thought they were quite magnificent. The maze was incredibly haunting and boy would it test your sanity! Really well done I thought. The dragon, the way it clawed its way to Harry on the roof, just superb suspense. The underwater acting was amazing, thoroughly believable.

The Yule ball was fun. Rita was magnificently wickedly smarmy. Crouch was interesting, I suppose they had to show his stress, and I actually found his mad eyes kind of funny. smile.gif Krum was superb, Fleur although good, was a bit of a non-event, and Cedric was the perfect popular, goodlooking all round nice guy. Very endearing.

Mad Eye was typically bizzare, though I found it hard to laugh at the ferret scene (and I think I was the only one who didn't in the whole theatre) because I knew who he really was, and it gave me the creeps that Harry was so endeared to him because of it, but that's what happens when you know how it ends I suppose. And wow, what an ending!

The graveyard scene was as good as I could have hoped for. Wormtail was a little OOC with his bravado, but Voldemort was quite outstanding. He truly was the epiphany of evil. Lucius was stunningly sinister and Harry was suitably terrified. What a wonderful job Dan did there. It must have been a very difficult scene to do.

I believed in his pain when he brought Cedric back, and I thought the scene where fake Moody was dragging Harry away in what looked like a secure and comforting way while Harry was still freaking out was beautifully done. That was possibly the emotional highlight for me because Harry was so distraught and yet this "comforting" arm holding him, dragging him away from that scene was chillingly the one who was trying to lead Harry to his doom all along. WOW...

Obviously the movie was good or it wouldn't be doing such phenomenal figures at the box office. I hope to go and see it again before it comes out on DVD because I really did enjoy it. I guess I ended up missing a lot more of what they couldn't put in than I thought I would. I would have liked more heart to the film, but it would need to have been another 30 minutes long for that and I know studios dont like taking that gamble, especially when dealing with a young audience.

Verdict - A blockbuster in every sense of the word. Very funny, not as dark as I suspected, but that was okay, it had a good flow once it got going. Extremely entertaining. Dan, Rupert and Emma give their best performance to date. Dan seemed to have to carry the heart of the film all on his own which is a big ask, but he did amazingly well. They all should be proud of the film, they were up against it and really did an wonderful job.

I loved Harry in the film, I went through everything he did and you couldn't ask for more than that, and since he is my favorite character in the books, I walked away very happy!
laurax3
i'm being pretty critical of the movie but since everyone wanted to see it so much i've been dragged to see in 3 times in less than 1 week and i'm seeing it 2 more times tomorrow...apparently everyone wants to see it so basically i've had little choice but to see it multiple times...anyway i think the movie was pretty good, found some things pretty funny but being pretty critical i have never really like the hp movies my opinion of movies is that they wreck the book. I respect that it is impossible to portray a completly accurate version of the book without cutting out some things. But the fact that the world cup match was not actually shown, when they were showing off the mascots it cut straight to the celebrations, they also made heaps and heaps of mistakes. But again i'd really rather not be too harsh on the movie. All in all it's a good watch, the only thing i find is that if you see it several times and come back to watch it, the scene with LV seems to drag on and on...i actually quite enjoyed the movie for the most part...i guess it's just not exactly what you expect after reading the book...
LoLLi
what i didnīt like:

- in the maze Harry didnīt use compass. How the heck did they find their way to the cup???It looked like he and Cedric and others just ran there and back, senselessly, and suddenly, somehow they found the Cup
- no one explained that Crouch Jr Imperiused Krum!!!!!!
- yeah, Priori Incantatem and the fact that Crouch was eaten and Fudge didnīt believe Voldyīs back was not mentioned. It could have been. I find it important
-Krum could have talked more
-more of Quidditch Cup woul be okay

what I loved:

-CEDRIC! yeah, I know, Iīm shouting in the cyberspace, and I want to shout, too! CEDRIC ROCKS! I didnīt expect him to be that perfectly nice, sexy, very friendly. I knew he would die, but still I was sad! Man, he was the best played character.

- everything around the Yule Ball, the love problems! sooo cute!

-Krum! he was sweet, too.

- Ron - finally a bit less of a coward

-Moody - he was great!

- not too much of Hermione but enough of her - thatīs how i like it

- Fred and George! Finally!!!! yeah.

final verdict: BEST ONE YET!!!! YEAH.
Veinic
although this movie left a lot from the actual story from the book, and it had left some fans disappointed with the lack of story, but i just cant say the movie is bad. it is great. it is excellent.
and i think, by far, this is the BEST movie in the hp series. simply bcoz it had all the essence needed for a teenager (most of the hp fans are teens) like dark, romance and goo humour. that's the factor that made me think this is the best movie yet.

verdict....a 4.5 out of 5. it could have been perfect, if it had not been the absence of quidditch match and some other plots like sirius or the ministry. and more of rita skeeter could have done no harm.
LurrveDracoMalffoy
I thought that the movie was darker and more thrilling than the first three episodes . All the characters looked more matured than they were before, and of course, they looked great ! tongue.gif

I really liked this movie . And hope the next one would be even better !
luckyfish
My opinion is plain and simple. I thought the movie was amazing even though many important parts were cut out. I thought it had a lot of humour and I thought it was quite scary! laugh.gif
I think that they could have put the part where barty jr. has the veritaserum as it was really important on how he got out of azkaban and all. But I think that it would have cost millions more to add a few more scenes etc. There were other scenes that I wanted to be in but thats that! Although the part where malfoy is turned into a ferret was funny!! biggrin.gif
I don't want to say anymore cause I don't want to bore anyone. laugh.gif
Cheers dudes and dudettes!
RoB_LuVeR
It was sooo kool!!!!! But it was really sad aswell. Especially when cedric died!! Omg i was crying! And the guys have definantly gotten HOTTER!!! Lol like harry and fred and george!! *DrOoL* And cedric is HOTT!! Well thats all i wanted to say so i betta go but just once more i have to say that they are HOT lol okay byebye luve ya

OH NO

Steve Kloves, Mike Newell and Warner Brothers are killing Harry Potter for me.

To give myself some credibility - I am a post production editor for a TV network. I'm probably too old to be a Potter fan, but hey - I am. The first movie got me into it, the second clintched the deal. // On a seperate rant I own two copies of TPS on DVD - The Aust 4x3 realese and the proper Italian 16x9 version, as well as COS and POA (big mistake putting user prohibited operation trailer at start). Im not going to bother getting a DVD for GOF. I bought OOTP when it came out, then went back and bought the first four books and read them in order. GOF is my favourite book in the series including the HBP. To be fair, Kloves did a briliant job on the screenplays for the first two. POA was pretty good too. To date I had viewed the Kloves touch of cut and embelishment as improving the overall work of JKR.

Perhaps JK herself has outgrown the ability of Kloves.

I caught GOF the film tonight. what a sham. I sat through it in near disbelief. It was never going to work as a single movie. The editing to the origional work was brutal. Like it was done with a chainsaw. Key emotives and messages were completely lost. The first task was over done, sure the dragon crawling over Hogwarts was a nice little action sequence. But it didn't deserve more time over the more important character developing second task which was skimmed over with blistering speed at critical points. With so many leading components missing, surviving dialogue lost meaning. Im not even going to bother describing the third task - Kloves didn't. In a nutshell so much essentual storyline has been cut from the film that the origional story has been warped significantly to make the pieces fit. In other the films, scenes and sub plots were simply cut to make it run a decent length. In GOF the script has be reworked so much to make it cohesive, that scenereos are resolved in new ways by completely different characters.

If you have not seen it yet...

But have read the book - hire it on DVD

Have not read the book - go and see it, but know that it is only half as good as the book.

I absolutely loved the movie!!!! I liked how they made the scene where the Death-Eaters are shooting (what are they?) fireballs or something. That was wonderfully done, it made me feel like I was there! It was so much funnier than the other movies. And the way Ron said to Harry 'Pi$$ off' it made everyone in the cinema gasp!!!
If I had to rate it, I'd give it a 100 out of ten! biggrin.gif

i know this is a bit out of sequence, and perhaps belongs more in one of the many dumbledore threads, but i'm going to put it here anyways as it pertains to the flow from movie four into movie five: I actually think that seeing this type of Dumbledore will help the audience in the next film see the "rift" that occurs during OotP. As far as a viewing audience goes, it will help connect them in a shorter time frame, to the strife Harry feels toward Dumbledore (where the book has time to explain it and develop it, the movie will not. I think it's helpful for the audience to connect this "off" dumbledore to the way Harry is feeling about him in the next book/film as opposed to having to take the time to explain why a "feel good" dumbledore and harry suddenly have this relational strife. . .

Ive just got back from the cinema after watching it for the second time. Here are some random thoughts (again) smile.gif

- Im absolutely in love with Alan Rickman. Its official now. He is so Snape. The way he speaks with Harry is just so brilliant. When he says sg like "My hand may just slip...". I loved it. Cant wait to see them (Dan and Alan) together in the next movies.
- There was one think that struck me, though. He said You Know Who. But Snape never says that. He always refers to Voldemort as the Dark Lord. Kloves sholud have known that. blink.gif
- Ive said that before, but i will say it again. Maggie Smith is the best actress of her generation. She is a national treasure.
- The same with Miranda Richardson. She is brilliant as Rita. wink.gif
- The acting skills of the Trio have improved soo much since PoA. Especially Dan's and Rupert's.
- Emma was so good in the arguing scene with Rupert. It couldnt have been better. wink.gif
- Im glad, that Neville, Seamus and Dean had more screen time/lines than they had in Poa. Especially Neville. I loved when he and Ginny were enjoying themselves till the very end of the Ball. Thery were a very cute couple.
- For some weird reason, the end made me really emotional. One of the last scenes is when all the students (H, B, D) are gathered around and they are saying goodbye and hugging, kissing etc. And there is Harry, walking by smiling. To be honest, it made my cry. sad.gif I was thinking about the end of HBP when the whole school is prepared for leave for DD's funeral and there are rumours going around that Hogwarts will be closed. I know, im weird but i just started crying (again) sad.gif
- Moody was as creepy as for the first time. I still dont like how they portrayed him. He is way too agressive and violent IMHO.
- Barty Crouch Sr is the worst part of the whole movie.
- Ralph Finnes is Voldemort.
- Jason Isaacs was even better than in CoS. (if thats possible wink.gif )
- At last, Draco seemd to be be really sad during DD's end of term speech. Dunno why, though....
- I almost forgot. I hated DD so much when i first saw the "'DD shaking Harry" scene on the internet but now, i loathed it even more. I just covered my eyes i couldnt stand it. How did Nevell dare ruin the most important character of the books?
There is that moment, when he reads Harry's name and Harry walks past DD and nobody dares speaking and then you see them looking at each other. There you see on his(DD's) face that he think that Harry put his name into the GoF and there is anger on his face. i hated it so much. mad.gif Its not DD at all!

wow, Sofie, I agree with everything you said.

The Moody I see when I read about him looks very different from the Moody in the film, the eye looks stupid and where are the clawed foot and the disfiguring scars and why is the missing half of his nose still on his face? Also, it seems to be a bit out of character for him to be so physically bothered about his leg, in the books he clunks about but without it paining him so much. But the Moody on film does a good voice and the gruff abruptness with which he started the DADA lesson wasn't bad at all. I loved the way that that piece of chalk was almost pulverized by the agression with which he wrote on the blackboard.

Maggie Smith is a perfect Professor McGonagall. I can't wait to see the OotP scenes in her office: 'have a biscuit. Oh come on, don't be silly.' when she has to reprimand Harry about losing his temper with Umbridge, and her fight with Umbridge at Harry's career advice session.

Draco's sadness might have less to do with Cedric than the prospect of Slytherin having to unite with Gryffindor. What do you think?

I dont really know. I think they sholud have shown his face properly like they showed the Trio's.
Draco wasnt sad because of Cedric's death. He hasnt even raised his glass when DD asked the students to do so. He was angry because he had to sit down and pretend that he cares about Diggory.

I liked the scenes although I though they flew form one scene to another too fast. Left out a couple of small details that are important down the road. Upset with Michael Gambone's portrail of DD. He needs to read the book and get into charactor or get replaced.

Is there an interview/article with Jo's opinion on the 4th movie anywhere? I'm surprised she hasn't commented on her site.

I watched GOF in its first week and I said "Yes, they did great job" The film is brilliant and fantastic. Little scary but also sad...

I just saw the film again with my mum and she really liked it. Since that was the 4 and a half-th time I've seen it tongue.gif I was able to see a few things that I missed before. Actually, Dumbledore didn't bother me as much this time round, maybe I'm becoming desensatized, I dont know. Still it was a good film, very entertaining. smile.gif
Bumblebee
Uhm.... razz and some others as well, how can you have seen GoF in fractions? I can't imagine you walking out or starting late, so how is it that one of the times you saw only half? Or did someone make you go?
Sorry for asking, but I'm a bit puzzled!
ELECTRIKK

I saw Goblet of Fire on Nov 19th and i thought that it was awesome although i do have a few nitpicks:

-no "parting of the ways" between fudge and dumbledore

-not too much of the quidditch World cup

now i want to say everything that i loved

-moody BRILLIANT!

-1st and 2nd tasks were spot on

-Voldermort's transformation was stunning

-Acting on daniel's part was a lor better

hope that i'll be able to see it again soon
Mrs_Skywalker
Hmmm I finally saw it this week and here's what I thought of it:

Special efects:
Everybody was going on and on on how good the special effects were. I really did expect a lot of it, but unfortunetely I was disappointed. In the second task you could clearly see that they used poppets for hermione, ron, cho and gabrielle. The mermaids looked soo fake, I almost cried. So did the sharkhead on Krum.

Acting:
Emma watson can't act! She really needs to take some acting lessons, because her brow -thingy and fakeness is getting annoying. I really don't get why people think she's too beautiful to play hermione, they should have made her more pretty! My brother said she's ugly, that was kind of harsh. Daniel on the other hand wasn't bad at all! That as a nice surprise, athough the crying scene was a bit fake. But he makes a good harry, bummer that he's so short but the lad can't help it. Rupert was ok. Not very good, but not very bad either.

The story:
It was a bit too rushed, but it wasn't bad at all. Although I must say that I had to explain everyting to my friend because she hadn't read the books. About the rushing thing: they could have changed it by concentrating on important scenes and shortening unimportant scenes.I mean, come on the yule ball lasted like 10 seconds!

Quite possibly it's just me, but I can't seem to find any posts about the Patil twins. (Maybe I haven't looked hard enough, yeah?)

Did anyone else notice that BOTH Parvati and Padma were dressed in Gryffindor uniforms?? Ugh. How disasterous of an oversight can you make? And if it was on purpose, WHAT WAS THE PURPOSE?
LoLa
i completely agree.....i was really excited at first, when the movie realesed, but when i watched it..i was like...OMG....SO many important bits where cut off and left....the movie just isnt the same as the book...and i found teh 4th bk pretty darn gd...and as a comparison 2 the movie...whoa,,,dnt get me started..lol....the movie lacked explanation...which is Xtrmely important....

I was quite disappointed @ the movie...n i hope that the 5th movie goes along the lines of the 5th bk...

I noticed it too, and thought it was ridiculous.

I, overall, liked the GoF movie, though I have one problem: they dragged out the tasks way too long, especially the first one. They spent too much time making the dragon look like it was going to crush Harry, whereas when I read GoF, I always just assumed Harry walked up to the dragon, analyzed the situation, and said "Accio Firebolt" right away. In any case, the book version served my ADHD better, but I suppose that's my own bloody fault for taking myself to a movie when I knew it was going to be really long.

They also never really explained, for non-readers, how Harry and Cedric got to be tied for first place. Naturally, they would accept without a question that Harry would have to be, as he's the "golden boy" of the whole thing. But Cedric? What, to non-readers, makes him so special?

I actually saw this over a month ago, so why I'm just now writing it is beyond me. I like the books better, I guess. smile.gif
vivvo
I hated it.

They cut out a lot of stuff. It's the worst one.

I bet pppl who don't read the books didn't understand that moive at all.
