Wow! A new thread... VTM is just full of surprises lately.
I hope to find everyone well! I know I'm not nearly around as often, but I promise I'll be back regularly soon. (I hope)
Anyhoo, Darcy, I'm with you there! Winter has graced us with his presence. Oh! It was so funny; earlier today when I picked Chloe up from the bus after school, it was snowing a bit and she was singing "Frosty the Snowman" and she says to me, " Mommy! Mommy! I think that when I sing Frosty, it makes it snow!" It was cute.
Hooray for Helen! So tell us more about your new geeky boy toy
(I couldn't resist saying that)
Razz, how are you doing lately? And the little ones?
Well, that's about all I have for now; take care guys!

Pffft, winter has definitely graced me with its presence, and I want to send it back where it came from. Snow = cold. I don't do well with cold. I was wearing a coat and hat inside last night.

Ah, if we only felt as graceful in winter as winter does! lol I nearly fell on my behind again yesterday, going to the store to get soda and Pepto Bismol for my son, who had the flu. He's much better today!
Snow hit us again last night. My patio doors are frozen shut! One nice thing about the snow though--it reflects a lot of light into my apartment. I like that.

Well just to echo the others, where is the the offical Razz Report from the movie?
We took our girls and the rest of their girl scout troop to have breakfast with Santa. Everyone had a great time. I liked the food but I was in the minority. Afterwards we took our three to play in snow Florida style. Basically the city blows a mound of chopped ice and the kids get to play around and slide on it. Not real snow but as close to it as we get here. Well it did snow less than an inch here in 1977 and I was in Kindergarten. Now that was a long time ago. It reached 70F (21C) here today so that "snow" was melting fast.
Meg, I will be flying up to visit your city again this January. You need to make sure the weather is above freezing during my visit. I hate Chicago during winter but I do love their restaurants, especially since my company picks up the tab.

It did get rather cold inside my home last night. I got up at 4 this morning cold. The thermostat said the house was at 65F(18C). I had to kick the heat on twice this morning to get the chill out of the air. I need to call the governor to complain. I think there is a law on our books banning cold weather before the New Year. But typical of my girls, I got up and one was wearing nothing but her bikini. The other had hers on this afternoon. That's winter Florida style.

lol...Greg. Yeah, I heard about that winter you had in 1977. A family I stayed with in Largo was talking about what shock everyone was in. It was like fifty degrees but that's really cold down there! This lady's kids were running around with four sweaters on, wearing tube socks on their hands for mittens because they'd never needed them before.
It was fun to be down there. I did the Largo Renaissance Festival down there. There are a few drawbacks, of course, no place is without them. For one, the lady I stayed with had moved down from Boston with a brass table that had a glass top. It rusted! Or corroded, or something. Then, you have to use deodorant soap or you get a foot fungus, because nothing dies down there. Other than that (oh, and the snakes and alligators and scorpions), it's awesome! lol
Dude The Muddy Footprints just freaked out on my reply! It totally froze!

mm..Chicago! I'm really picky about cities, but I liked Chicago, its pretty cool. I remember I had these two friends in high school, Scott and Waldo (not his real name, which is also Scott), who were really eccentric and quirky--still are. Anyway, one night a bunch of us were hanging out at a buddy's house and in walk Scott and Waldo, Scott with flowers for me. "Awe, thanks!" I said, and gave him a hug. "Don't you want to know where I got them?" He asked. "Uh, sure. Where'd you get them?" "O'Hare International airport." "Huh?" It came out that the two of them had just gotten it in their heads to go see Chicago, so they blew all their money on plane tickets and each told the other's parents they were staying over at each other's house. They had no money for a hotel, they just slept in the subway. They saw the art museum and just walked the streets all day and night, I guess. What a bunch of crazies! The subway in Chicago is scary enough during the day!
Anybody ever been to Milwaukee? Thats my favorite city, though I couldn't really tell you exactly why. It just seems to fit me I guess. Its the only big city I would consider living in.
I hate hearing all of oyu talking about the snow! I'm so jealous! It was in the 60's here today, don't ask me the celsius, but it just seems so wrong! Its December! Its supposed to be cold out!
That paragraph had way too many exclamation points....

the Razz Report! hee hee, that's so funny! Its great to see Meggie here finally too, and I see the new thread has been jumped on by our regulars so all is
I went to Carols by candlelight last night, and although the main singer was awful (she had one of those "Great Aunt Tessie" amatuer opera voices) the fireworks were just wonderful. That's probably the closest I'll ever come to real magic and I cant get enough of them.
I went into Melbourne city for the Millenium fireworks in 2000, and it was the biggest and best I've ever seen. I'm certain it beat Sydneys, though they always try to out-do us

Four barges on the Yarra River and we were on the brige standing above the crowd on the barrier right in the middle of it all. It went for alomst 30 minutes! Unbelievable stuff. I'll never forget it. I'll be in Perth this New Year and I guess I'll be spending it with my parents, they usually throw a party.
What are you all doing?

Not even candles, Olivia? I love candles in the winter. lol--I saw the funniest ones the other day. Oh thanks Jim! Hmmm...what piccie would I put there?
Run away, run away!.......
Actually, I have an answer to the chick thing, or actually the chick flick thing. Do they use that expression anywhere else, or is it an American thing?
Anyway..chick flicks...prerequisite? Must have romance, perhaps silly romance, with actress who is girl-next-door cuteness (Meg Ryan, Sandra Bullock, Kate Hudson, etc.) and standard very handsome in a non-threatening way actor (Hugh Jackman, Hugh Grant, Benjamin Bratt, etc.). Happy ending a must.
I have a term for "guy movies" though, but can't really say it because it's kinda naughty. Prerequisites? The only true prerequisite is that something, ANYTHING, has GOT to blow up! If someone does not get shot or something does not blow up, it does not fall under this category. The guys are rough-and-ready, not necessarily handsome, but unlikely to take any guff from anyone. The women are gorgeous and well-endowed and have no life except to be someone's significant other. And let us not forget...something has to BLOW UP.
I wonder if this makes the Goblet of Fire...both? nah...it's not a chick flick, is it? No real happy ending...no romance, just romantic angst...plenty of things blow up, so...lol

I love candles! I couldn't live without them! I always have a candle burning when I'm studying, even in the summer. I don't really like the scented ones, especially not chocolate. The only scented candles I like are cinnamon or green apple.
Jim, so you're not into candles! And you say it's a chick thing!
*tries to kick you*

You never told me that!
Then I guess I won't bring any candles with me to Spain.....
That reminds me, I have to buy new candles. (but not for you Jim)
I think GoF has chick stuff in it, but also stuff for the men. Besides I think that men, even if they can't say it, like romance too.
Aethonon
Dec 4 2005, 07:15 PM
It must be true, Olivia. My son James has two female friends and they all like to go out to movies together. I know the last one they saw was a "chick flick" and James ended up really liking it. I think chick flicks are more about story and the 'other' is more about blowing things up. lol
Luckily for me I actually prefer the 'other' since there are a lot more of them. Yeah...GoF had both, and it was actually interesting seeing the romantic angst coming from the guys instead of the girls for a change! And the dragon and Voldemort got to blow things up. What a combination!

The Blade Trilogy was great for blowing things up.
"Van Helsing" blew things up.
The X-Men blow things up.
In "Reign of Fire" a dragon blew things up, then they blew up the dragon.
What blew up in "Pirates of the Carribean?" I know something had to have...oh yeah, Elizabeth blew up the rum. And ships blew up!
In "The Stand" Las VEgas blew up.
And in LOTR a whole evil kingdom blew up!
Hey wait...
has anything blown up in a HP movie? Other than Seamus's eyebrows?
FawkesyLady
Dec 4 2005, 07:18 PM
lol, Darcy. I know exactly the term you're searching for--but careful, Razz will have your head on a platter for implied cussing!

I don't know if I agree with your definition for a guys movie, though. I think Braveheart and similar are certainly guy movies, even if they appeal to some women as well. Maybe an explosion, gunfire, or a battle-axe?
And don't forget my fave Chick-Flick leading man--Matthew McConaughey, recently voted sexiest man alive, though I'm not sure I agree with this either. He's a little too boy-next-door to be as sexy as, say, Clive Owen. Anyhoo....
ooh, candles! I love candles! I'm picky about the scents I like, too Darcy. I hate all these new "Clean Cotton" scented candles. If I wanted my house to smell like laundry, I'd sprinkle Tide on the carpets before I vaccuumed. Yech! I feel like in the laundry soap aisle in a supermarket. I couldn't go down that aisle when I was a kid. It made me feel like I was going to suffocate! I don't know what I think about the chocolate scented ones, Heather. Sometimes if the scent is too sweet, it gives me a headache. I like the coffee scented ones, though. I hate the "Sugar Cookie" or "Vanilla Icing" ones. Too sweet!
Last night I lit "Daffodill" and "Lilac" and my room smelled like my grandmother's garden, it was lovely!
New Year's? Good question....I'll be in Oklahoma with my family, most likely, but my brother-in-law invited us to his house in Natchitoches (pronounced nack-uh-dish, don't ask) Louisiana if we wanted to go. I don't think we do, though. Maybe we'll have a little party at my folks' house with a bunch of old school friends. Who knows? I'm not a big planner. As long as its fun!

I should light candles tonight...sigh. Make my house look better. My house looks like a garment factory...my business has eaten my living space!
I should go get food that's bad for me. Hey, at least I'd get dressed, and get some exercise! Never mind that I'll triple-threat those burned-off calories when I get home with my Haagen Dazs! lol

Dec 4 2005, 08:15 PM
Lol, the sad thing is Darcy is your exactly right, for the majority of my half of the species! They like nothing better than stuff being blown up, and while i agree with that in part there is a time and a place for everything. Frankly i'd rather watch a film with a decent plot, great acting and a good story underneath it all, whether it be stereotypical chick flick or not. one of my favourite films ever is house of flying daggers, and while that has a few violent bits to it, and a lot of fighting, the love story is far more important than the violence! Then again another of my favourite films is Saving Private Ryan, which as much for the story, the acting ability of the whole cast, and the fact i love the WW2 era, and the stories about it. not to mention all the violence!
The Blade Trilogy was great for blowing things up.
"Van Helsing" blew things up.
The X-Men blow things up.
In "Reign of Fire" a dragon blew things up, then they blew up the dragon.

In "The Stand" Las VEgas blew up.
And in LOTR a whole evil kingdom blew up!
Blade is just an excuse for lots of violence
Van helsing is just appauling and a waste of the time i spent watching it
Xmen is fantastic and i wont hear a word against it, end of!
Reign of fire was also terrible!
Pirates was a legend! abselute legend! and you forgot, half of port royal blew up when the black pearl shot it up!
LOTR was amazing, so who cares if the evil emipre blew up leaving a safe path around the forces of good, but never mind
oh and you missed independance day, most of washington getting blown up!
What im trying to say is, theres a time and place on everything dependant upon your mood, and im just as likely to watch a film with real story and acting as one where stuff gets blown up
as for the candles, i've never done it before, you'll have to start me off Olivia!

I think you should bring candles to Spain

Isn't Van Helsing wretched? My son bought it though.
And "Reign of Fire" has three good things going for it, you know...Matthew Mc (howdoyouspellthatFawksey?), Gerard Butler, and Christian Bale with his shirt off...

And X-Men of course rules, whether or not things blow up, because it has an interesting story. Sci Fi or not, it's about the pain of not fitting in, and how that can affect a person for good or bad.
We're about to watch some movies I haven't yet seen--"Constantine," "Sin City," and "Land of the (Muahahaha) Dead...James says we can't watch that unless we don't eat during it. lol

Nothing beats a good blow'em up movie. Put enough explosions in a movie and it just screams Oscar.

Independance Day was great. It had a recycled plot but Will Smith made the movie. Of course putting Data in a movie always improves it by a least one star.
I went with my sister to see Carmen today. It was my first opera. I was the good brother and went with her because no one else would. The music and singing were great but the story was lacking. I think the little bit of translation they gave into English was probably the cause of it. There were very little subtitles. Just enough to keep the plot going. I probably would have enjoyed it much more if I could understand French. I probably would not pay to go again but if she needed someone to go with and picked up the tab I would go then.
So Razz why no report? You always manage to skip over that with each post.

Candles are wonderful, really. And they don't have to be scented, in fact more often than not I use plain ones because the smell can get to be too much in a room after a while. I just love the peaceful light they give off, just superbly relaxing. And it is a cliche, but taking a hot bath in radox surrounded by candles is just one of the time-out moments in life well worth having. Put on Beck or Nick Cave and its like you're on another plain. *sigh*
One of my all time favourite films was "Highlander" and that's a perfect mix of attraction for the male and the female. Just a top film really. The sequals just never measured up though
Hey, these bloody foot prints keep treading on my eyeballs

I wonder how long I will be able to tollerate that!!
Darcy, I've seen Constantine, and I am a big fan of Keanu Reeves, and though it was good, had some great parts in it, it just didn't hit the mark a lot of the time, and I think that had to do with direction, not the actors. I still enjoyed it once I gave up expecting too much
I with you on Lord of the rings Jim, that was one film that went way beyond my expectations and I've watched them all several times now and still cant pick holes in it, maybe there are some, but I'm so wrapped up in the story and character and cinemaphotography that I keep missing them, who could ask for more than that. Peter Jackson is a genius!!
Jim and Olivia, I hope you have an incredible time in Spain together, you know what they say about first holidays, its make or break (no presure)

just messing with you, I'm sure it'll be spectacular.
EDIT; Aw, I missed you greg! I've never been to see an opera because I'm not cultured enough I guess to appreciate their particular warble. It grates on me a bit. I'd much rather see a musical with a bit of rock in it, like Rocky Horror Picture Show, that was bloody brilliant!!

Darcy's Movie Reviews for:
Sin City--
Sick and twisted. Seeing Frodo as a Bible-thumping cannibal, and Nick Stahl as that bartender from Deep Space Nine was too much for my sensitive tastes.

A car blew up. A farmhouse blew up. A few people blew up. Benicio del Toro was a talking head. I almost expected him to start singing "Burning Down the House" when the farmhouse blew up.
Land of the Dead--
Sick and twisted, but funny. Liked the "even-after-death-we-don't-part young hand-holding zombies. Loved John Leguizamo's abs. A car blew up. A few buildings blew up. Some zombies blew up. Dennis Hopper blew up.
Constantine--
Bizarre, uneven, just as Razz said. Did not get to see Keanu Reeves' abs.

An office building's walls blew up. A hospital ward blew up. A bunch of demons blew up. Rachel Weisz's stomach almost blew up, but Keanu Reeves enticed Lucifer into blowing the wings of the archangel Gabriel up instead.
Razz, I hate to ask, but...what is Radox? It sounds toxic...

Must not be though.

Razz reviewed!
GoF Review by Razz
I know, I'm obnoxious. lol
Sigh...I loved Highlander. I got the Director's cut, and boy, that makes the story make a lot more sense...
Yeah, Independence Day really blew stuff up! So did the one I watched earlier this week--"War of the Worlds." I watched each of those more than once.
But know what else I luuuurve? "Persuasion," "Sense & Sensibility" and the BBC version of "Pride & Prejudice." So sweet. And nothing blows up.

I didn't have the time to see any movies the last couple of weeks, I can't concentrate. Besides I haven't seen any good movies lately, since The Downfall, that was perfect and Mein Name ist Eugen, which is a swiss movie, you'll never hear of or see it.
But I need to see a good movie soon, and own for girls, not one where they blow up things. I actually like movies where they blow up things, I like war movies and everything with a submarine in it.
Greg, Carmen is a very good story, it catches the spanish culture very good. You can read the book to it, I'm sure its translated in english.
The book is of course called 'Carmen' and it was written by Prosper Merimée. A great piece of french literature. It's a shame the opera itself is not in spanish though.
Razz, no pressure?! Now I'm scared! I don't want to brake with Jim.
No we'll manage.
Have a good day!

LOL, Radox is a line of cosmetics that does shower gels, bubblebaths stuff like that, its not toxic though, although it does sound it doesnt it!

Independance Day was great. It had a recycled plot but Will Smith made the movie
True, his charisma was so high all the way through, he made the film, no doubt. Although thinking about it that wasnt his best role, if you want to see a really amazing Will Smith film watch enemy of the state, abselutely fantastic film, great story, stunning acting, and yes something gets blown up, but its only one thing.
Razz the whole LOTR universe fascinates me, have you seen the extended editions? as they outstrip the normal versions by a country mile! Theres so much more of the story in there, it has to be seen, and its easier to see it at home than spending 4 hours in the cinema!
you're so right about the sequels though, i've got all the films, just for a sense of completeness! but the sequels are just so bad its truly cringeworthy!

Haha!

Sorry couldn't resist! although i did get a job interview today

yay!
oh Razz you did review! why did you leave during the film the first time?

As for films...hmm...one of my favourites is Interview with the Vampire! Tom Cruise's Lestat was amazing, and Brad Pitt was pretty darn good too! Not to mention Kirsten Dunst when she was only 12!

It's amazing how well, actors can, well...act when they're allowed to eh? lol. Because none of them have been as good yet (as far as i can see, and i admit i've never seen Fight Club, and have no intentions on doing so either)
I don't like big blowing up movies really, i think my favourite film ever is either Spirted away, or Motorcycle diaries, i haven't decided. I also love Amelie!
Oh and darcy, yes Van Helsing was...well, i don't know if i just didn't like it or if it was because i saw it with Paul! lol!
What about Bram Stokers Dracula (a Gary oldman fix eh?) or Edward Scissorhands? hmmm, Nightmare before christmas? No? NO one else weird 'Arty' films like me? oh well.....*sulks*
Razz? Highlander eh? I think it's because i live in Scotland, but christopher Lambert, accent...'I am Conner Macleod of the clan Macleod, and I am immortal' And why is Sean COnnery playing a spaniard? But it is quite a good film though! It was going in Silverscreen for £2.99 but i was too embarrased to buy it...it's considered to be a bit of a joke here! But i liked it...

I don't know, whenever Hollywood tries to 'Scotland'

'No one speaks like that' it seems that Hollywood think that all the men wear kilts everyday and we can resite Robbie Burns...but i think it's the same for every country!
Actually, i did see a guy i a kilt the other day....that was nice....hmmm...i wonder if he was a true scotsman.....

wohoo! congrats Helen, as in you have an interview, or you have got one coming up? where for?
I've never seen interview with a vampire, i really should, but i just have to shriek in shock( thats a bit of a mouthful!) You havent seen fight club?!

Its brilliant! Its funny, its violent, its got a whole financial district blowing up, so yeah its full of violence, it has meat loaf with giant Man breasts! what more do you want?!
Have you seen Akira yet Helen? To quote Kyle in the south park movie, you have to see this movie dude!

but in terms of blowing stuff up it starts off with Tokyo getting hit by a nuke, so its a fairly spectacular expolosion, and thats just the start of the film!
LOL, Frenchman, playing a scotsman, it just doesnt cut it does it?!

My Interview (on thursday..eeek!) is at books and beans! It's a small shop. Coffee shop on the ground floor, and upstairs a second hand book shop! (hence the name

) I'm sooo nervous! I love second hand book shops! Half my childhood was spent in them! I love the smell!

The only problem is i don't like coffee....this could be potentially problematic! But meh, if they give me job i will drink all the coffee in the world!
(Darn! I bit of bacon fell out my BLT snady! grrr....sandwiches...*druels* --btw who's smart idea was it to put tomatoes in a BLT? I don't like tomatoes....--)
And no i haven't seen Akira yet! My brother got a loan of it but i was too busy to sit and watch it

and now it's gone back to it's rightful owner... As for fightclub? I dunno...it's just never appealed! Generally i'm pretty good at judging films, i didn't like the look of gladiator- Hated it!, Same with Alexander (worst film ever catorgory! Along side with Napoleon Dynamite and A.I!)
Oh you have to see Interview with a vampire Jim....it's magnificent! In fact...i think i might go and watch it! have you read any Anne Rice?
Has any one seen Divorcing Jack? oh it's funny! It's Got Jason Isaacs and David Thewlis in it! It's one of my favouite films! Good and British!
What about Kevin Smith? Any fans? I like Dogma the best...followed by mallrats! lol!
QUOTE (Jim)
did you ask him?!
Er...no. Although as it was a bit of a blustery day i did try and have a peak!

Naughty Helen! lol! i didn't see anything though, which is probably a good thing!

I don't think any one can play the scottish...except the scottish personally, a faux scottish accent is normally awful, no one speaks like they do in the films! Except the south west.... they talk weird....

(it's where Katie Leungs from--Hamilton...poor thing! So boring there! Got family there...they talk funny!)
I think there's pepper in the sandwich....who's idea was that!

I really don't get why all, really all, men love fight club. I fell asleep watching it.

Now Jim will leave me.

No, honestly, why is that film so good? Why?
I saw A.I. last week, I didn't get that movie either, I was really depressed so I didn't make to the end.
Helen, I never saw Dracula, I would be so scared, which is horrible as I have to sleep alone and noone's watching over me or protects me if I get attacked by a vampire.

I love Amélie though, such a beautiful movie. I saw it on the day when I broke up with my ex and it made me smile. I dream about living like Amélie in Paris.
Jim, you promised to never call me sweetie here!

Yay! VTM is back! I couldn't get in for a few hours...
And Ygraine has an interview! Also yay! I love used bookstores--I used to own one.
Movies...sigh. I'm really enjoying coming out of my depression because I want to watch movies again. I mean, I did watch movies when I was depressed, but I wouldn't watch any that were too intense, or had unhappy endings. So I've missed a lot of the more recent ones.
I must admit that I didn't like "Sin City" much. I was surprised by that, because so many people told me it was really good. But I had trouble relating to, or caring about any of the characters. That's when I really like a movie, no matter if it's "chick flick" or other--can I care about someone in the film, what happens to them?
Even in "Land of the Dead" I cared what happened to the lead characters. So I liked that movie better than "Sin City."
Oh Ygraine, I love Indie films, but we seldom get them out here, even on DVD, and British ones (my faves) are EXTREMELY rare. So if I don't hear about them somehow, they completely pass me by. I miss them. I like foreign films as well, but we really don;t get those out here!

I was going through VTM withdrawl. I actually was forced to sit down and work instead of surfing the site.

Well at least I had past Foamy cartoons to keep me entertained and pass the day.
I generally love all sci-fi films even the real bad "B" films but I did not get A.I. either. It was such a sad and depressing movie. I could not relate to the parents who could just cast a child off like that even if it was artificial. I think where the mother walks away from the child in the woods is as far as my wife could get into it. The movie could have been real good. The issue of AI and their place in society will be very important over the next century. The issue needs to be addressed somewhere down the road but that movie was so bad it will be no help.

Nightmare Before Christmas is one of my favorites! I was actually watching it just the other day. Heehee, it's the perfect cross between Halloween and Christmas. Bram Stoker's Dracula is also excellent, and not just because of Gary Oldman. Edward Scissorhands... Well I'm going to be honest, I'm scared to death of that movie. One of my friends dressed up as Edward at Halloween and he jumped at me and it made me wipe out in the middle of the street. That's how creepy I find him!
Haha I learned something important today: Do not stay up chatting with a guy online until four thirty AM if you know that you're going to wake up at a quarter til seven no matter what. You spend the rest of the day being extremely tired, not to mention that Simon (said guy) decides that he wants you to drive over an hour and a half to visit him on Wednesday. I'm a bad driver. I make car trips for no one.

I'm precisely the same way, Darcy. That's why I hate gangster movies so much, regardless of how great the performances are. My husband insists on renting them, though, and I sit through them.
I hate to hear so many people dissing A.I., though. I understand why people didn't like it, but I loved it. I saw it twice in theaters. I thought it was haunting and beautiful and fascinating, if a bit out there. Oh, well.
And Helen! You haven't seen Fight Club? You hated Napoleon Dynamite? Nooooo! Tsk tsk...too bad. I loved them both.
Sense and Sensibility! Such a lovely film! I think its one of the most romantic movies ever! I also think "All the Pretty Horses" was incredibly romantic. Just loved it. Highly reccomend it.
I'm so bummed! "Highlander" was on last night and I missed it! I've got to see what all the fuss is about!
Anyone ever seen "The Big Kahuna" with Kevin Spacey and Danny DeVito? Absolutley brilliant. Incredibly quotable.

I've also been suffering from VTM withdrawel....it's back now, oh well, these things happen nothing people can do about it!
Oh i love Sense and Senseability (yes, i know i spelt it wrong....) and Pride and Prejudice!
Nope, haven't seen fight club! And i'm proud of it!

*jim don't throw OoTp at me....*
Greg, i know exactly what you mean about AI, The fact that robots were second class was amazingly done, but how could a mother just cast her child away in the woods especially after that doctor mannie told her not too!...it's awful! And all the little boy wanted to do was find his mummy! I think i shed a tear at that bit. But the film was pants (sorry Fawksey!)
olivia, Dracula isn't a horror movie as such, yes it's about vampire and the like, and therefore a wee bit scary, but it's not like tese silly horror movies that just create monsters for the hell of it. But when Jim's visiting you over the new year

Oh give it a try!
Meggie...*Thumbs up!* nightmare before christmas is amazing isn't it? I watch it every halloween ad every christmas eve! Eeeee! Oh the bit where jack lands on the statue his santa outfit all torn....does that creep you out? Give you goosebumps? It's the best shot!
Darcy, i would send you over all my british films, Trainspotting, Shallow grave, divorcing jack, but even if i sent them out they wouldn't work on your DVD player...whic sucks, so you'll just have to keep an eye out for them in your favourite store....Wallmart

I only saw "A.I." once and while I liked it, it was too close to home emotionally and I could never watch it again.
Walmart? Ygraine, did you say...Walmart? (shudder) I HATE Walmart.
Wallfart. Mall Wart. Wally World. Eeew.
And I haven't seen ANY of the British films you mentioned, but I could order them in...I should check half.com.
Does anyone else share my opinion that DVDs well, kinda suck? I like the special features and all, but I don't like DVDs. There's always something wrong with them. They get a scratch and they won't play. Yet we're being forced to go to DVD because they won't make VHS of most movies anymore...sigh. Not to mention that it costs them something like 50% less to make DVDs, but they charge 50% MORE for them. Because they can...

I also can't wait for the next best thing. I like to burn CD's, but then they're just more prone to skipping. None of my fave CD's play all the way through now...grrr. Of course, I have a really cheap CD player, but whatever. Also, our PS2 is serving as our DVD player right now. Its really picky about what it will and won't play. We rented Mr and Mrs Smith on DVD twice, and it wouldn't play grrr!!! At least we knew right away. There's nothing worse than when you're just getting into a movie and suddenly it starts skipping and says, "Unable to read disc" Grrr!!!!

Grrr... I Hate Walmart and DVDs. Although I have the feeling that I hate Walmart for the wrong reasons. Everyone else has problems with the fact that it destroys smallers businesses and whatnot. I just think it's dirty. As for DVDs, they get scratched too easily. I want my VCR back.
Ahhh, Helen, that bit gives me goosebumps every time! Jack is just... *shivers* Wow, that's a good movie. I love how the boogey man just unravels.
