Do you think they will include hAGRIDS BROTHER? I bet they will cause what will be there secret weapon, I cant wait to see a giant on the hp movies!!!!!!!
Mod Edit: This topic now contains every character that may or may not be in OotP.

Probably not, as he disappeared in HBP practically and so can't be that relevant to the storyline. Unnecessary book-padding, IMHO - it wasn't a very strong storyline in OotP so if anything's likely to be cut, Grawp is. I can't say it'll be a huge loss...sorry.
Ooh, I just noticed the pun there...*chuckles* Ah well, you know what they say about little things...

In the VTM premier edition, Heymen says that they have actually got the conceptual art done for the thestrials and Grawmp, so it looks like he is going to be in there. Well, as of the date of the NY premier he is going to be in there anyway

But I agree with you MD, Grawmp really isn't important to the plot at all and the producers are usually ruthlessly effecient at cutting anything that isn't essential to the plot. That said, perhaps Rowling told them they needed to keep it in there so maybe Grawmp is going to have a significant role in the 7th book? But maybe not..

Aww ya? I've heard that Grawmp would be in OotP too, all though he is not very relevant to the story line, I believe there are some... nice H/Hr scenes in that Grawmp chapter that I would like to see

That and I really would like to see how they create him. If they made Dobby as cool as he is, I wonder what they will do to Hagrid's Brother? But personally, I don't want WB making a whole big scene out of this, I would rather have extra footage in the end that Grawmp to be honest...

I was reading about the next HP5 film on
wikipedia.org, and it mentioned that Hagrid's brother might be CGI, which does sound kinda strange. I just hope they let in the usual Hagrid since the first.

How else would they have made a 50ft brute? I see him only as a GIGANTIC [pun fully intended] waste of money. But as Solorund says, Jo could have commissioned [?] him, implying he's integral to the 7th book, in which case we should look out for the locket in Grimmauld place

Heyman said that they have already started working on his appearance....
The Grawp chapter is my least favourite part of the series, but i bet Jo included it for a
very good reason. I think giants will have an important role in the 7th book and thats why they cant cut him out of the movie. Oh dear, i wish they did, though....

I hope Sirius has a big part in OotP. I know he needs to be in the movie, but he might not be as big of a character as he is in the book. Also I want umbridge and D.A to have a big part too! Please reassure me!!!

The filmmakers will have to juggle many plot elements for the coming movie; but it seems (imo) that they will emphasize Sirius, Umbridge and the DA roles in the story, or else...
Don't worry, we'll find out what they're planning soon enough.

Well, the filming'll start in two days, so we'll know soon enough. Sirius had a tiny part in Goblet of Fire, so they better make up for it in Order of the Pheonix. By the way, bamb00gal (zoe the jigger), it's cool you started a topic.

Sirius better have a good part!! They didn't portray him well in the fourth one, and he's going to *gulp* croak in the fifth one, so he better be the fifth one listed in the credits (after D.R., R.G., E.W., and M.G.)

Given the ending of Phoenix, I'd think they'd have to play up scenes between Harry and Sirius to have full emotional impact when they hit the Veil scene towards the end.
That said, I've been waiting to hear that Gary Oldman and David Thewliss - both of whom I thought were great - have been confirmed as returning but have heard nothing.
Anyone?

I'm with ya'll... Sirius, the D.A. and Umbridge are the things I want most out of OotP. Sirius is very near and dear to my heart and I missed him greatly in GoF! They really do have to give him a big role in OotP because of the ending. It makes it angsty and they like that kind of stuff

I wonder how they'll make the Veil look and all? I hope it's good. I wonder if it will be harder to watch then it was reading it. I hope not because it was really hard to read it! (The death I mean) This is a good topic. Do you think they'll show the fight with Molly and Sirius in the begining? At Grimmauld Place? I thought it was kind of wrong when they cut Molly out at the end of GoF when she hugged Harry. I felt like that was a signifigant moment because it showed how he kind of veiws her as a second mother. We see this again in OotP when she tells Sirius that Harry is as good as hers. IMO, this is going to play a big part in the seventh book. Sorry, I just got way off topic!

They have cast Magorian, or whatever his name is, but not Firenze! Firenze is way more important than Magorian or whatever his name is! Any news on Firenze?
Nimbus
Feb 5 2006, 03:51 AM
I was wondering that same thing. Magorian is such a lesser character that I thought they might not even have him in the movie, so it does seem really weird that they have cast him and not Firenze. Maybe the guy they said was Magorian is actually Firenze in the media just got it mixed up.

Have they said anything about young sirius because i think i might have missed something and also why are all of these actors so old. I figured that the actors playing the mauraders and lily would be 15 or 16 like in the book but they are all older. It kind of takes away younger actors chances that are actually 14-15 like me from even having a chance. But back to my question, have they picked him yet.

Feb 5 2006, 10:35 PM
Yeah, I was wondering about "Young Sirius" as well. I haven't heard anything about him yet either.
As for the age thing of the "young" characters, I think the girl playing Lily is seventeen and James is I think nineteen so they aren't (I don't know if I'm right

) so you know they aren't that old...are you upset because you tried out?
I hope they announce the "Young Sirius" soon...

No i didn't try, because everyone said that if you don't live in the UK then you don't have a chance. Because I am British and I have the accent and I'm a young actor but i was born in America. So I didn't even try which, is my fault but if they happen to hold off on just filming that scene and give other nations a chance for the part. Then I feel that would be best to find the best actors. But I was going for the sirius part, but because I had to cut my long hair im thinking that I look a bit like Snape now when I grease up my hair and put on a snobbish look. So I think i'll regret not taking action but I just want to go with the flow for now. If any of you get any info on this subject then feel free to post it here but im certain that it will be in the news section first.

They have to include Grawp. He's in that scene where Harry and Hermione bring Umbridge into the Forbidden Forest. Maybe they don't have to, but I'm sure he'll have a large part in Book 7.
I don't know how they'll make him, but they've managed before. If you have ever seen the movie Big Fish, there was a guy who must have been 20 feet tall!

DarkMark, Madame Maxime is a halfblood like Hagrid. Anyways, I have heard the Grawp is going to be in the movie. It isn't necessary, but it could be a nice touch. I just hope it doesn't waste too much time. There is so much content in the book...

If Grawp is in OotP I think that will give clues to his importance in book 7. Lets be honest, Grawp played a very minor role in OotP that can easily be cut and was almost non-existent in HBP. If he is not cut for budget and time reasons, then he is destined to play a big role in book 7.

Grawp is in ootp. As im sure you saw on the news page the director said they had been filming scenes with grawp. This disappointed me as time when were watching grawp they could put something more interesting and worthwhile instead.

As of right now Gary Oldman has not been asked by WB to come back as Sirus Black. Gary's agent has given WB's till the end of the week to ask Gary and if they don't Gary will not come back to play Sirus. Gary said that he has offered to take small payment for the role, but still has not been asked. I read this on Muggle net just a few minutes ago.

Maybe they're trying to get Ray Fearon again. I hope they do less technical versions this time and let the character be played by actors. I think Fearon was only the voice last time, and the character was totally computer generated. An enhanced actor might cost less, be easier to do, and allow for characters like Kreacher and Dobby to be in this movie and not left out like Dobby and Winky in the last one.
I don't think it was a mistake, because they need both characters for when Umbridge gets it from the Centaurs.

I was always a bit confused as to why they changed Firenze's colour and look in The Philiospher's Stone - he looked like he was supposed to be the other centaur.
Maybe they have changed centaurs names to get the look right.
Looking forward to seeing him in the Order of the Phoenix.

I actually hate Grawp! Sorry to anyone who actually likes him, but i personally can't stand him. He was a waste of time in the Order of the Phoenix book and he'll be a waste of time in the film. It's just another excuse for them to show off with CGI, but man are we plugging for that visual effects oscar, when we could be chasing some prore ones! Best apadpted screenply, Mr. Kloves, for one! Mods is it o.k. if i set up a fan club called P.A.I.G.I.F.B.M., Standing for: the People Against Grawps Inclusion in Further Books or Movies? It would be great fun and i could carry on my rant about Grawp there!

I am so glad Gary Oldman is returning for OOTP, I can't wait.
He had a good sized role in the third movie but a horriblely
small part in the fourth.
Seeing that he dies in this film, I know he will have a decent
sized roll. Plus they have to show Sirius's resentment of staying
at home when the rest of the Order gets to fight.
That is important to show because that is one of the reasons he
left Grimmauld Place to go to the Ministry.
Hopefully we will get a great film with tremendous emotional
build up that will lead us to the scene with the veil.

If they don't give him a decent sized role in the movie it will completely screw up the whole story line. But seeing what they did in GOf it wouldn't surprise me if they cut it just enough for us to get the gist of what was happening. So pathetic that they won't even consider doing the longer books in two parts.

Apr 30 2006, 02:10 AM
I don't know why they haven't casted Firenze, maybe they decided
his part in the film was not important to the storyline.
I hope he is in the movie though, it would be cool to see another
centaur in the movies again.
Although I don't like the other centaurs, Firenze is pretty cool.

I would LOVE To see more of ginny, she is (to me) the fourth main character in the book. Harry, Ron and Hermoine are already in the movie lots, and im not sayin that they should not be in it as much, but i woudl enjoy seeing more of Ginny and Draco, id like to see ginny beacuse in the 6th movie harry is going to like her, and if she is not in the 5th movie enough, people who only see the movies will not really know who she is or what she is like, all they will really know is that she is rons sister. And i would like to see malfoy more because of his sense of humor and sarcasm, i dont know why, but of all the scenes in all the movies that make me laugh, about 65% have him it them.

I was really worried at first that he wasn't going to be cast until it said that a young sirius black was confirmed to be cast
I hope that he isn't too stereotypically good looking (like the jock or boy next door type), I personally see him as a bit 'rough round the edges', with beautiful eyes and handsome features but with his shirt un-tucked and long(er) hair (would prefer long hair but apparently he wore it shorter when young) - anyway *wipes drool* hot hot hot
I think that they will follow suit with the others and get (reelatively or totally) unknown actors to play young sirius and young snape so I couldn't begin to guess
LilyPotter
May 21 2006, 12:34 AM
Yeah I would like to know who is playing young Sirius too, and it better be someone realllllly good looking. Cause in my mind Sirius is a total hottie.
Have they even mentioned this at all? And who is playing young Lupin?
ooo ooo who is playing young Snape???
Oh man now you guys have me all worked up about this...
Ok guys, I'm getting a little worried here...
They have the casting list up on a few sites and all they have for the mauraders/friends is:
Susie Shinner .... Young Lily Evans
Charles Hughes .... Young Peter Pettigrew
Robbie Jarvis .... Young James Potter
ummm hello? where is sirius? Lupin? My fav 2 characters?
HPgoldsnitch
May 21 2006, 01:59 AM
Ya,who is playing young:
Lupin
Sirius
Peter
Snape
They have already cast james and lily, those actors are both older. the one playing James (
Robbie Jarvis)is like 20, so I guess that is ok. But the one playing Lily (
Susie Shinner) is I think somewhere around 17 or 18. I think she will look alot like lily evans in the movie.
I think that if they don't get the scene almost exactly like the book, and all the actors right, then they are going to have many very disapointed fans.
