Who could be the new MoM now that JKR has ruled out Mr. Weasley? I have no clue, but we do know it'll be someone we've met before since no new characters are going to be in the 6th book. I'd really like to know what everyone thinks. It would have been really cool though, if it had been Mr. Weasley. Oh, well.

You know, I was thinking Amelia Bones, but you never know. I liked Kingsley Shacklebolt too. Hmm...I should have known it wouldn't be Mr. Weasley, he wasn't very high up in the ministry. But it was that whole what Ron jokes about comes true thing.

I havent read OOTP in awhile, but what happened to Fudge, I didnt even know there was going to be a new M O M. I guess I must have missed something.

Maybe perhaps Dumbledore? Nah, jk, he didnt want it. But I was thinking since there is a war, he might want that position so he could better protect innocent ppl, though he still didnt take it when the war had first started some 16yrs earlier. So I dunno, mybe Tonks? Too young, though it would be very funny and wrong if it was Percy, that was if age didnt matter.

i seriously doubt it'll be kingsley. that dude is a powerful auror, he's more important to the ministry as an auror than sitting behind a desk trying to organize everyone. i mean, he doesn't have much experience running a government.....people will want dumbledore, but he's not gonna leave hogwarts....ooh, you know what would suck? what if....Lucius Malfoy became minister?! he would make things difficult for the Order, that's for sure. and think about the smug look on draco's face if thatn happened.....i can seriously see that happening, jsut as an interesting plot twist, kinda like what she did with umbridge.

I can see Lucius being elected Minister of Magic, just let Tom and other Death Eater's break him out of Azkaban and let walk in and run for the position. He is a Death Eater, nobody is gonna elect him, speak to him so long as he is a Death Eater.

I think it'll be Kingsley or Bones, as most people have said...but if its someone other than them two, I will be pleasantly surprised...I honestly cannot think of anyone else who would be MoM...

Yeah, Lucius was caught. He'll probably be in Azkaban now. I don't think he can talk his way out of this one. lol. And JKR did say that there wouldn't be any nre characters in this book. So there goes that idea. But I think I like the fact that we have already met the character that will be the new MoM.

Of course he'll escape, but he still won't have a chance of becoming MoM. I think it'll be Amelia Bones, she's a well respected and powerful member of the MoM so i think it'll be her. Definately not Kingsley, he's just not important enough.

what are you talking about? Isn't he head of the Auror's officer? I'd find one of the most important departments in my ministry. He is responsible for finding one of the top 12 most wanted wizards in the country.

Voldemort's right. He is important in the MoM. I wouldn't mind him being the new Minister, but he probably would be better where he is at the moment, you know with the war and all. I think Amelia Bones would be a pretty good MoM, but I'm not putting my money on anyone yet.

look, kingsley's tight, and yes, important, but he's much more valuable as an auror than a minister. there's a big difference between being head of the auror dept., and being head of the entire government, and there's no evidence at all to suggest he would be a likely canidate for minister.

amelia bones however, is a DEFINATE possibilty.

I like the idea of Amelia Bones, I think with Harry liking her, JK forshawdowed a little that she would make a good MoM, I dunno what I'm talking about, lol.

hmmm, it could be McLaggen (that's his name right? i read somewhere that he's going to be a new character) or the person that was described in the little note. unless McLaggen is the dude described on the note, eh.

anyway, other than this possibility, i do think it could be amelia bones. she was first introduced in the latest book, so she would have some role in the next one for sure. she's also very respected, so that gives her another point. she's just and nice, no explanation needed there.

hmm kingsley shacklebolt. yes he was introduced just like bones in the fifth book, but i dont know. he's also a powerful auror, so he's probably too busy with the order to be the new minister. he seems more hidden in the book than bones. there wasn't any insight on him. she just put him there.

....umbridge as minister of magic. now that's scary. yes, it's possible, but still, she was a bit bothered after her encounter with the centaurs. who knows if it can be permanent? (i certainly hope it is lol) i dont think she is very respected though. she tries and makes other people feel intimidated by her, and you can see a lot of people hate her. just because fudge really liked her doesnt mean that other people will.
is the wizarding world's government a democracy? if it is then it's not like fudge can just give her the position then and there, so we dont have to worry...much.

i think dumbledore could be the new minister. i mean, with the war starting and everything, everyone would want everything to be in order. (weak point, i know) and it just seems like dumbledore can do that job.

I don't think it'll be Dumbledore...didn't he get offered the job before Fudge and he refused it? I think he's happy at Hogwarts and he's got his hands pretty much full at the moment between that and the Order. Besides, I reckon DD likes it where he is, where he can really make a difference...not up in the MoM doing absolutely nothing and blaming everyone else when things go wrong...like most politicians....Lol... He'd be way too bogged down in policies and laws and stuff to be involved in Hogwarts or the Order, and he wouldn't do that...

I suppose the most likely candidate would be Amelia Bones or someone like that...but I'd still like it to be Umbridge...

I dont think it will be Dumbledore, but I would like it to be. Than Magonagal(cant spell that name) would be headmistress, but I do agree that Dumbledore is happy where he is now.

Tralawney goes inot a trance and Ron throws them out in general conversations. That suggests that the power is hidden-and we all know how powerful out hidden secrets are.

but still, mr. weasley has a very err, i guess you can say a low ranking job at the ministry. you can't just get a new position so suddenly in two months. and this is the highest ranking position! so no, i really dont think he will be the new minister. plus, i think rowling confirmed it in the edinburg [sp] book festival interview.

I would just like to say that the title of this thread was a typo! I didn't really mean for it to come out the way it did. Sorry. I should have checked it before I pushed add. Oh well, you get what it's about. Although I do laugh everytime I read it and get mad that I didn't check it in the first place. *sigh* oh well.

I don't think Umbridge will be up for the job after what happened in the forest. And I don't think Dumbledore will be the new MoM, since he never wanted that job in the first place.

wouldn't the minister of magic be a guy? i don't think it could be amelia possibly one of the order members...i don't think shaklebolt(sp) either ...don't know...anybody else have any guesses? Has anyone thought of : Bill/Charlie Weasly? Elphias Doge? Dedalus Diggle? (sturgis podmore...possible? he only was sentenced six months in azkaban) ..... ANYWAYS...I am just trying to shed light on other characters/names that have been briefly stated....those are my thoughts...anybody else? anything to add to this idea? what do you think?

I don't see why they couldn't have a Mistress of Magic. They're only calling it a Minister because currently it is a male. So Amelia is still going strong on my list.

Bill and Charlie are people we know about, I don't think much of the Wizarding community would know much about them. So they wouldn't be likely candidates. That's like having Joe Schmoe (not the TV show guy) run for president of the US without any experience on the field. They don't even work for the MoM.

I don't know I don't really think it's going to be a Weasley that becomes the MoM, but it's fun to think about! I love the Weasleys. Anyway...

I agree with Dana that the Minister can be male or female, doesn't matter the gender. I just hope it's someone who's nice and fair and knows when to take action and when not to. And they should definitely help out on the werewolf issue (yay! Lupin!)

After these further deliberatrions I see fit that Amelia Boones a possiblity of being the new MoM....I was for her the whole time but i didn't see it how she could become MoM...but still how can a woman become president? How can that be! Possibly the MoM postion is like the presidency and all...i dunno bout' elections but it can sort of fit at this angle too. It might not even be out next year. It took 3yrs for OotP to come out. I had really wanted to read it before I started college, but oh if it comes out while I am in college, I will get behind in my classes cause that it all I'm gonna be doing. 0_0
