I've got to go with Neville. He has got to be the most pathetic, tragic character of the whole Harry Potter series! Nothing ever goes right for him, his parents have been made insane, his grandmother constantly compares him to his father, Snape and McGonagall can be so mean to him, and he transplanted his own ears onto a cactus. (Oh, and BTW -- what happened to Trevor????) The worst was in POA when Crookshanks had stolen his slip of paper with the passwords and McGonagall was so furious with him -- and that awful Howler from his grandmother. Poor kid!

I ansered Harry. Also because of prophecy, but mainly because Harry hasn't never been normal life. He hasn't really known his parent's, he was wrong treated in Dursleys, and although he has lived some happy moment's in Hogwarts, Harry's always been for many people the one who congured the Dark Lord, not to mention he has done it 4 times again and he has never been normal life. And in last book, he's only chance of happines was taken from him after what happenend in lightningstruck tower. I just have to feel sorry for him

i chose cho..because i think she didnt deserve the way harry treated her..she was grieving because of cedric's death and wanted to talk to harry about it because harry was the one who witnessed his death. but harry didnt want to because it was a very uncomfortable feeling for him to talk about his death. and besides, he's already talked about with with hermione and ron. but he was selfish and didnt quite care that cho hasnt talked to anyone about it.

I feel pretty sorry for everyone on that list, but the one I feel most sorry for (at the moment, anyway) isn't on the list.

Let me explain.

Thinking about the R.A.B. theories made me aware of how miserable it would have been for Sirius and Regulus to grow up in that house, with those parents and the pressures of living up to creeds of the Most Noble And Ancient House of Black. It has all the signs of a dysfunctional family in which the brothers each tried to survive and not go mad.

So for me it's a toss-up between the two brothers who I feel the most sorry for. They both had lives that were warped by being members of the House of Black, which led them to desperate actions they would otherwise not have taken.

It's hard to choose between Sirius's loss of James and his misery in Azkaban on the one side and Regulus's mental and emotional isolation on the other. Sirius had an unwavering belief to sustain him. One cannot underestimate the power of knowing that what you do is right, no matter how painful. It can bring light in the darkest hour, as Dumbledore kept pointing out. Sirius had no regard for his personal safety, Regulus rather too much; it served them both ill.

I voted for Sirius, but of the two brother, I think Regulus has been more miserable.

Harry is in a rather difficult situation (to put it lightly). He is a seventeen year old up against the darkest wizard ever! Maybe I'm wrong, but he could have some doubts about how long he has to live.

I had to go with Neville. I mean his parents were totured into insanity. Thats gotta be tough. I mean Harry's parents were killed but at least he doesn't have to see them with no minds? Neville is also not that brilliant either, while Harry is really smart and always saving the day.

I feel the most horrible for Harry because so many people whom he loved were killed right in front of him. Also, I feel bad for Luna cuz everyone's always making fun of her just because she's different. Also Sirius who had to live in hiding and Lupin who loves Tonks but can't be with her because he's afraid she'll get hurt.

i pity draco... he is too young to be a death eater yet he is brainwashed to go to the Dark Side... i hope he will change for the better

I feel sorry for almost everyone on that list (except for Cho, can't stand that irritating little worm). I was doubting between Harry and Lupin... But I voted for Lupin in the end (S.P.E.L.Ler for life ). He lost all his friends, two died and one abandoned and betrayed him. He's being discriminated, can't find a job etc... Luckily he hooked up with Tonks in the end of HBP. But still I feel sorry for him.

Btw. I can also find myself in your explanation Bumblebee, I also feel sorry for Sirius.

Harry not because hes going to die but because he;s been singled out and is all alone. His friends can only get him so far, but hes got to do everything on his own. hes also the only person who never had a real family, the only time i didnt feel sorry for him was in the 5th book when he was a bit conceited but hes fine the 6th book. "Loony" Luna Lovegood, obviously. I know what that kind of isolation is like as i am a bit "different" myself. She needs to learn to make it her own and embrace her uniqueness, she puts on a brave face, but still, i can tell she doesn't let everything just roll off her back She reminds me of myself, so does Hermione, but that's another story!

I'd like to add someone to my list. Draco, he's so confused. His father's a Death Eater so he's expected to become one as well. He's 17 for crying out loud! Leave the kid alone! Also, Narcissa. If I were a mother then I would be afraid of my child turning evil just cuz my hubby is.

That was a hard choice, as I feel sorry for absolutely all of them (except for maybe Winky, because I find house elves bloody annoying.)

However, I chose Harry.

Let's face it. The guy's so young, yet I feel (don't kill me now) that he doesn't have much to live for. His parents, Sirius, and DD are all dead. He has his friends, but isn't there that risk of impending doom that he might lose them too?

Assuming he emerges victorious from his battle with the Dark Lord, it's entirely possible that he's going to have a happy ending. However, it's also possible that he's going to emerge from that experience a lonely, bitter, emotionally disturbed man. I somehow don't see much of a story developing from that, though, but at least it would ensure the no-more-sequels thing, I guess.

This is one of the hardest poll I've ever answered. I feel sorry for almost all of the choices but I chose Sirius, wrongly accused. And because of being wrongly accused, he spent thirteen years at Azkaban. An innocent man in Azkaban, I feel very sorry. He had wasted thirteen years. He had been with Harry if he was not accused. Harry wouldn't experience the maltreatment from the Dursleys because he lived with his godfather. But Sirius never experienced that. Then he's free for only one year and then died. Life is so miserable for him.

I also feel sorry for Professor Lupin. He'll take that discrimination with him forever.

I felt so bad for sirius when i found out he didn't get a trial...then he died and THEN they realize their mistake about him...
serving 13 years in prision and 2 years on the run living off rats and 1 year cooped up in the house he always hated...its terrible
and whats worse, they never caught the person who really did what sirius was blamed for...

I chose Lupin. I admit I may be biased because he's my favorite character, but I really do think he has it the worse. Harry has had a harsh childhood and faces a terrible task, but he does have some compensations--his loyal friends Ron and Hermione, Ginny's love, and the love and admiration of many others. Sirius suffered greatly in his life, but now he is beyond all that. I imagine he is with his friend James in the afterlife. But Lupin faces not only descrimination, he suffers every month from his transformations, and had to endure the company of some horrible people in HBP. He has lost many of his friends. He also is plagued with a bit of self-hate I imagine. There's a hint of hope for him in that he's found some love at last, but I'd still feel sorry for him most of all.

LOL i voted for draco. what id he dont want to be voldermorts leader?? what if he didnt want to set all those traps on ron and kate girl?? voldermort would murder him and hs whole family if he reffused. i hope he comes back in the seventh book if he dnt im afraid im gnna cry ;(

I know, it's weird, but I voted Firenze. He was only trying to help Dumbledore and teach innocent children, and he was forever banished from the forest. He is also insulted on a regular basis by clueless and mean Hogwarts students. Therefore, I feel sorry for him.

I know it's evil, but, though I do feel sorry for Harry, and, as much as I want him to live a normal happy life... well, it wouldn't be an interesting story if he had a normal life, would it? I don't think there would even be a Harry Potter series if he led a normal life. Though I do feel sorry for him, speaking in book terms, he was doomed to his fate, or wyrda, as I like to say. At least that is what I determined from the prophecy.

I said Draco. He's too young to be a Death Eater, and he doesnt even really want to be one, I think. He doesnt know what to do, and is forced to do things he doesnt want to, or else he'll be killed. That would suck.

i feel sorry for neville and harry both. poor neville's parents are in the hospital and he doesn't get to see them much. he's also the one who gets the most detensions (i think). neville also forgets the password and professor snape has no mercy on him.
on the other hand harry has got no parents. i don't think that he's the one who i feel sorry for just becuase he has chances of dieing, but also that he lives with the dursleys who are probably the worst family i've eva heard of.

i feel really sorry for these two and i hope in the 7th book j.k rowling makes them live a happy life in the end!!!

It was a toss between Neville and Draco, and in the end, I pity Draco most.
Draco is as he was raised to be; cruel, terribly vain-glorious,(did I spell that right?) and cowardly. He wasn't taught love, humility or compassion. For these reason, I feel for the poor guy.

I went with Neville. His parents were tortured to insanity, and he is a klutz and not well thought of. He is terrified of Snape and only does well in Herbology. I wish that hi life was slightly happier, he deserves it.

lupin has Tonks, Harry has the Weasleys, Sirius had James, Cho is just a B****, wormtail is a cowardly traitor, Snape is all about Snape - he reminds me of Debby from The Addams Family , Luna is happy with her life, Narcissa deserves her life, Filch choses to be irritaing and scummy, Draco chose his path, Firenze is fine and Winky is just strange, not pitiful an dVoldermort has and always will be evil - he could have changed but chose his path - he deserves to die.

i had to chose harry...cuz he doesn't have either parents, or a cool family...and since the day he was born. voldemort already wanted to kill him, and he has no fault for that...and even having a hard life, harry is happy and brave

Real hard to decide. I voted for Harry, because of his terrible past, but i feel sorry for all of them.

Snape, because having a life like he had is even more miserable than Harry's. I mean, from all we know about him, he didn't have true friends as a teenager (maybe Lily was one but he messed it up). I don't believe in him surrounded by a gang of Slytherins because I didn't see it in Snape's memories. As I believe that Snape is on the good side, I feel sorry for him because he is in the place where everybody hates him.

I voted Neville. I mean, at least Harry seems happy enough most of the time. Allright, he has to live with the Dursleys, but Neville's family doesn't seem great either. Harry's parents might have died, but sometimes it's better not to know what you've lost. Neville has to visit his parents and they don't even recognise him. Neville is always being bullied, he's not all that bright, and never gets a break. Harry has closer friends, is famous and popular, youngest seeker in a century,and pretty smart. Allright he also has an evil wizard after his blood, but I have a feeling Neville isn't gonna be let off too lightly either.

I voted Snape because..i dunno..I really feel sorry for him. Is my favourite character.. And i think he didn't deserved such a treatment and such a past. I know he would've been better. And i feel sorry for him.. Because everibody is acusig him.. and i know he didn't want to do what he did with Dumbledore. And... i dunno... I just love him. :D

i said snape not just because of the abusive father but the stress of his life. Playing a double agent, keeping his stories straight, and the constant debate and wispherings of his loyalties go snape its a hard life

I feel the most sorry for Sirius. To spend so much time in a place like Azkaban, falsely charged... to come out the other side half normal is saying something. Everyone has a tough life, but Azkaban is unimaginable.

I voted for Draco because he is in such a bad position because of his parents. No matter how mean and rude he is to everyone I don't think he is that evil and would have killed Dumbledore.

Interesting question

I lingered for a while, hovering between Neville, Snape, and Sirius. They've all had pretty rough times. But Neville and Snape have had the chance to deal with what's happened to them and they've both found outlets for the way they must have felt - Neville has his friends and he's getting more accepted now as being not so useless after all, Snape has his dark arts skills and the power he's had since becoming a Death Eater.

So I settled for Sirius, because that poor guy had a really miserable life and it never let up, right up until the moment he died. That's incredibly sad. For a guy to have only snatches of happiness before having them taken away - I mean, poking fun at Snape was no real justification for what happened to him. Overall, he was a really great guy who just had a hard time, he didn't deserve what happened to him.

So, yeah - Sirius.

Wow, im the 100th vote, cool! Well I had to vote for Neville for many reasons. One he is not very smart except for herbology, because the teachers dont teach him right and he lacks motovation. Except when Harry taugh him in the D.A. because the Death Eaters who tortured his parents were free and Harry was a good teacher. Also, to me, what happened to Neville's parents was ,and is way, worse because his family is ruined and nobody is fawning over him like some people do to Harry.
