I know this is kind of weird, but has anybody wondered if one of the people here are a Harry Potter celebrity? Or any celebrity for that matter.
To think they could read what we say about them and type back would be awesome.
I just wondered it today, while typing...
What do you guys think. Is Dan, Emma, or Rupert among us?

ye i've thought about that before. they could be sat there laughing at us all. you know the people that know everything then that could be them. and how do we not know your one of them? you started the topic so you could be one of them. sorry if it makes no sense i never do.

Of course, this "are you a Harry Potter actor?" cycle is never-ending.
If somebody is ana actor or actress, they most likely will NOT tell everybody. They get enough people bothering them in real life that they do not need hoards of worldwide onliners to be bombarding them with questions as well.
However, in the rare case that that actor/actress DOES just tell everybody that "I'm Daniel Radcliffe," they would be put down immediately. Obviously nobody will believe them and they will actually be dissed (haha, awkward word choice

) by many people.
On another view, these actors are very busy. Shooting Harry Potter, Dan Radcliffe has other movies under his belt (i.e. "December Boys"), interviews all across the world, premiers, and for the younger actors, SCHOOL! They have so much to do when they are not on the HP set that they have barely any free time. And I would highly doubt that they would spend their miniscule amount of free time on a Harry Potter fansite/forum. They barely get to go out with friends, see a movie other than their own, play a sport, or just relax.
So, sorry to put down your idea, but it is just extremely unlikely!
On the contrary, I am sure that many of you have heard about the time that JK Rowling decided to check out the HP fan forums, and she got a Leaky Cauldron (

) account. Well, basically she began typing what she thought and was put down [rather harshly] by the posters on the site. So, anything can happen!

Did that really happen to Rowling? Does anyone know her ol' screenname, I'd like to look up her posts. She could have given us a clue to Book 7, which would be helpful to another thread I made.
I guess your right though, they would be busy hangin out. Way to make me feel like a friendless nobody!!! Just Jokin'!!!
I assure you "Luna", that I'm not an actor. I'm terrible at that sort of stuff, and I can't sing. I do want to write a book one day though, so maybe I'd do something like that. I'm sure I would actually. Kind of make fake theories to throw everyone off track. That would be terrible of course, but none the less fun.
But as of now, I'm stuck in a small town nowhereville.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if they check in once in awhile. I know they haven't a lot of time, but they aren't always filming.
If I were one of them, I might be naturally curious as to what people say about me. I do think they probably would be more likely to visit a forum where they are the main subject. VTM pretty much avoids the usual fan-gushing in favor of discussion of the books and films--the emphasis hasn't been on the actors all that much, really. I guess if I were like, Emma, I might be tempted to take a peek at a forum where people talk about me.
Why do I think this? Once upon a time I was on another forum, for a famous person. I became friends on there with a guy who turned out to be a friend of this person, and eventually I got to 'meet' this person via internet--mind you, it took a long time! He was very cautious! lol
As it was, he hardly ever posted there. But he did read.

No, I'm not a celebrity.
When I saw this thread, I was about to make a lame joke by posting something along the lines of "hey, I'm Emma Watson!" ... but I decided not to for fear of being caught impersonating someone else on the Internet.
At any rate, I'm pleased that El Verte Veritas started this topic, because up until this point I was afraid that I was alone in my weirdness. Whenever I go into the VTM chatroom (a rare occurrance, admittedly, because most of the conversation seems to center around finding ways to get past the netspeak censors -- type "l o l" instead of "lol," for example), I do the usual name/age/location drill and then the first thing I ask is whether J.K. Rowling is among us. Usually I get ignored in the midst of the general discussion, and I start sending PMs to the people who aren't saying anything, asking if there is any chance they are JKR.

Do you think she'd answer if it really were her? *over-eager*
Just as a side note, I'm moving this over to the Lounge because it isn't completely centered around the movies anymore.

I have always thought that J.K.R. might come on here to get some new ideas!!!! Maybe from our fanfics!!!! I right my fanfic all the time and it is awsome!!!! It's called Potter's Child (and No it's not about me)!!!! I wouldn't be surprised if Rowling looked at some stuff kids from around the world wrote to give her some new ideas!!!!

Nah, lol, I don't think she would. She's had the books in her head all this time. I doubt if she'd alter the path she's on now. Though I have read that she likes to read them on occasion--that that is fun for her.
I think she'd be more likely to turn up here than one of the actors, since we don't really talk about them very much.
Allie--She might someday confess to who she is, but only if she's chatted with you and knows you're cool. You never know! Seriously!

Do you honestly think that a celebrity would have time to come here? Even if they were here, would they seriously admit who they are?
That being said, it would be somewhat interesting if somebody, someone who had something to do with HP read this, whether they admitted it or not. Especially JK herself. I recall her saying in an interview that she leaves herself room to go back and rewrite in case someone guesses something, simply because the book would be no fun if everyone's already correctly guessed what happened.

I have to ask this are you really Emma Watson? You probably aren't but there is a small chance.
I think it would be really cool if Daniel Radcliffe came on this site and started posting on this topic. I doubt he would because he is so busy but I sometimes daydream he is a member and that I always talk to him. I really hope Jo has come on this site because she does read fanfics to know how others would write the books.

There's a huge possibility. But do you really think they will reveal themselves? Of course, they won't. And if they will, that will be their last time to post here. There's a possibility that they have signed up here but I think, it's just to read what we are talking about.
But there could be celebrities here but not Harry Potter movie casts. Celebrities from different countries, have their own fame in their own respective countries and they love Harry Potter... but I'm not one of them.

You know, I have a small secret to share with you all. I think it's probably time after being here for almost two years.
My real name is Geraldine Somerville and I play Lily Potter in the Harry Potter films. I thought maybe the constant references to red hair and the fact that I'm British might have given me away, but so far, my identity has remained a secret.
Thought I wasn't in the movies a great deal, I was fortunate enough to work with some of the real greats of British cinema including Alan Rickman (who really is as handsome in real life as everyone thinks he is), Maggie Smith (or the Magster, as she fondly likes to be called) and Robbie Coltrane, who I was also very fortunate enough to have worked with a few years ago when we filmed 'Cracker'. I feel so privileged to have worked with them all and even though working on a film is very hard and involves long hours, sitting around in trailers most of the time and endlessly re-reading scripts to memorise them, I am very glad to have had this experience and I am very much looking forward to putting in a small appearance in the latest film, the Order of the Phoenix. It's a small, flashback scene but it does involve me working with Adrian Rawlins, Gary Oldman, David Thewlis and a heavily made-up Alan Rickman again and I am very much looking forward to that too. They're a wonderful group of people and are an absolute scream to be with - I just hope that Gary doesn't do his usual party piece of reciting the 'Velcome Mr Haaarker to my howse...Ve Dracules haave a right to be prowd' speech from the 'Dracula' film. It does get ever so tiresome after a while.
It's wonderful to finally reveal the truth - it's been such fun hiding here and seeing what you all had to say about the films for so long. I just hope that the future films will continue to be as popular as the previous ones and that I will continue to be a part of these wonderful forums and the whole Harry Potter experience.
Now...am I telling the truth? What do you think?
I guess you'll just never really know....

Not so long ago there was a very interesting post made in the fanfiction section. The one who posted it, joined VTM just to post that one time. At MSN we've chatted about it and had the wildest ideas

Ummm...no, Louise, you can't be Geraldine Somerville because I am! But believe what you want, people.
What a great example of the "cycle" I described in the beginning of this thread! You see, an actor or actress comes in and does not tell anybody who they are, at which point they are assumed to be a normal, average person who is natuarrly obsessed with harry Potter. Then, when they take their time to write a formal, official-looking message such as the one Louise left, it starts to raise some doubts in your minds. Could she really be Geraldine Somerville? No, that would be impossible. But she can. So unless you have personally met the person who posted the post, you really will never know!
Whoa, my brain hurts from thinking.....

I agree in saying that is is quite unlikely any of the Hp actors/actresses would be on this site, but then again, you never know!
I was watching this show and it showed a famous actress' assistant showing her a fansite that had been dedicated to her, and she was looking through it and everything. Part of her assistant's job was to find things online that were, i guess, 'worthy' of being shown to her. So, you never know if one of Dan or Emma's managers just happen to show them a site dedicated to them or something.

But, it would be really awesome if they were here.
Ps- Dan, if your reading this, I'm one of your biggest fans!!!

Louise, that was great!

At first, I told myself you're only joking then as I read your post, wow! It's becaming more convincing...
Well, that would be the point, if someone will claim that he or she is an actor/ actress in any movie but most especially Harry Potter, you will not believe it: whether they're telling the truth or not.
You will not believe if I say I'm Emma Watson and you will not believe even if Emma Watson posts here and claims that she's Emma Watson, the one whose playing Hermione's role in HP movies, even though she
is really Emma.
Louise
Jan 12 2006, 12:11 PM

Of course I'm only joking...

I'm not particularly convincing, no, but only because most people here know me by now and even if they don't, they can see I'm admin and with a post count like mine, it's obvious I can't really be in the movies.
But my point is that if I was serious, if I hadn't made the quips about 'the Magster' (forgive me my little jest there, Dame Maggie, if you are here...

) and Gary Oldman's party piece, and if I hadn't been admin, would any of you *really* have been sure?
This is actually a huge concern of mine, particularly in times like this where you hear all the time about someone being conned be someone else they've met on the internet. You can be anyone you want when you're sat behind a computer and if you really take the time to do your research properly, then I think you could make it sound *very* convincing. A lot of people probably think us mods are a bunch of killjoys when we stop some conversations that could be leading towards an exchange of addresses or other personal information, but the thing is that we are all responsible adults who are fully aware of the dangers of the internet and we want everyone coming here to find it a relaxing and safe place to share their HP interest. We don't want you guys to worry about things like this, which is why we're here and it's a job that I particularly take very seriously.
Of course you also have to ask yourself another question - for what possible reason would a star post a message telling everyone who they are when they spend their free time chasing law suits with magazines who supposedly 'intrude into their private lives'. Why would they encourage such a thing by contributing to a message board?
The possibility is almost up there with winning the lottery I reckon. The stars that may be among us are the least likely to reveal themselves and post in a thread like this. They may very well have anonymous identities, but they have those for a reason and they are *very* unlikely to want to violate that.

Dan has said many times in interviews that he doesn't look at "all that stuff" - any articles or gossip or stuff on the net - he doesn't even watch interviews that he has given. I can't help feeling this is the smart way to go: how else is he to maintain perspective? Or avoid becoming self-conscious? There are hundreds of thousands of fans wanting to tell him how wonderful he is, but part of what we like about him is that he seems like a sweet guy, funny, well-mannered, not big-headed. He has mentioned in interviews times where a friend of his has told him about an article or something on the net, and this strikes me as being a healthy and "normal" approach.
