S.P.A.T, or Society for the Prevention of Annoying Typos, needs members. If you hate typos, loathe them, want to kill them, join S.P.A.T! It may not do anything to stop them but at least everyone knows how much you hate typos, as I do.
Our short-term aims are to make aware the presence of typos. Our long-term aims include practising to type properly and quickly, every time we do a typo yell and scream and crying when you make a typo and someone doesn't.
Just add my signature to yours so everyone can know your part of S.P.A.T, and notify me if you do add it.

Well, I can't say that typos are one of my bug-bears really. Everyone makes mistakes - that's why they put erasers on the ends of pencils - and the backspace button on keyboards. Some of them can be highly amusing, actually...

What bugs me more than anything is netspeak - it's sheer laziness and is allowing whole generations of kids to get away with the most awful spelling abilities I've ever seen in my life. Anywho, that's by the by...I'm a bit of a grammar nazi but I'm not going to start leaping on people over genuine typos and I wouldn't want to encourage people here to start lynching those who do make mistakes. I'd be far more likely to encourage a SPAN group - Society for the Prevention of Annoying Netspeak.

Just a short little point though - couldn't reduce the size of your signature could you please? It's only supposed to be a maximum of five lines long Thanks.

Me, me, pick me! I'm SO going to join S.P.A.T! I hate typos and people who don't spell properly! It just annoys the snot out of me, so count me IN!

You know, I don't mind typos so much or even a bit of occasional netspeak. What really gets me going is people who type entire messages in lowercase or that are otherwise barely readable. I'd prefer to see something against that. I'm not going to give examples, I'm sure they're easy to find.

I might seem kind of slow on this, but what are typos? i know there are all sort of hints about them on this, but I can't wrap my head around what typos are. Is it something like netspeak? Or is it about spelling? Please reply!

A typo is pressing the wrong key on the keayboard, for example Whoops! might become Whoips! I don't think there is much hope for S.P.A.T. though...

Well... Typos happen to everyone, but what I really can't stand is when people type LikE ThiS, WiTh caPitAls RigHT iN tHe MidDLe Of WOrdS. Urgh, that really gets on my nerves It kinda bugs me when people dont use any capitals, making the post a little hard to read.

Oh god I hate typos! I am so joining SPAT. I always proofread my posts to make sure I didn't leave out letters or put a letter in that isn't supposed to be there, etc. I always find typos in books, magazines, newspapapers, you name it!
You know what would be really funny? If someone was going on and on about how they hate typos, and there are a bunch of typos in that post! Haha!

Like everyone said, I am not sure if S.p.a.t has much hope. I doubt there is a person in this world who has not done at least one typo. I know I have done so many it is not funny. Good luck with S.p.a.t, though I don't think you will get too many members. By the way, I don't think you need to scream and yell and cry at yourself for making a mistake. One time I cried for making a mistake and my science teacher took me aside and told me mistakes happen to everyone, you just have to live and learn with mistakes.

Yeah, typos are mistakes, which we all make. I personally love typos because it shows me that we are all human and no matter how big we make ourselves look, we will always make a mistake, it is impossible not to. Plus I laugh at some of the funny words people come out with, like when people say lol, some people type lool accidentally. But I am sorry to say this but S.P.A.T looks like it hasn't much hope.

I agree with almost everyone else in saying there isn't much hope for S.P.A.T. I personally think that typos are kind of funny most of the time, and I make a lot of them. I'm a pretty bad typist so I'll probably be one of those people you yell at! As for net speak, I agree that it is really lazy, especiallly because a lot of the time the word is the same amount of letters, like was and wuz. I don't get it and none of that really bothers me, we're all human!

Oh, and sorry for all the typos I'll make, I don't mean to make you mad! I usually do re-read my posts before I send them, but I miss a lot of my mistakes.

Oh man, oh man, oh man. I would really, and I mean really, like to put an ironic post saying how much I hate typos full of typos. But I think that it would most likely just come off as netspeak. I don't want to bring on the wrath of the mods (or the punks or the new wavers or... wait. nevermind).

Anyway, maybe since I put that little post, the mods won't mind a demonstration of what I would have put?

Good luck with S.P.A.T, although I think that typos are simply accidents, and we all make mistakes from time to time. I'm a bit of a grammar nazi, like Michelle. Misspelled words aggravate me immensely as well. I'm really a bit embarrassed to admit this, but when people send me letters that contain misspelled words, I actually correct the spelling, then read them again It just drives me mad to read something that is full of grammatical and spelling errors....I know, I'm a bit obsessive in that respect. How about an organization called S.P.A.M (Society for the Prevention of Aggravating Misspellings)? Or, S.P.A.G.E (Society for the Prevention of Annoying Grammatical Errors)?

Well, i have to admit that i do have typos occasionally, but i do try not to make them. The thing that really annoys me is shortened words. I only use them when im in a hurry or if i want to squeeze something into a text! I use lol but thats out of habit.

I guess I will join S.P.A.T. I really do not like it when people make typos. I agree with Tigzie on this one. I usually do make some typos one time or another, but I really try to make them brief. My typos are usually mistakes. I reread my posts before posting, and edit things if I catch a typo.

The thing that really bugs me is if people abbreviate all of the time. I really get annoyed when people use "meh" or some other word of the sort. I really do not have any problems with "lol" or other things small like that, but I do have problems with some other things.

Lol, I love 'lol'. Most of the time I just don't have anything better to say, mostly on MSN but places like here where I find things funny I say lol and I mean it. Most of my friends on MSN are abit retarded and to some degree deluded, but that is them. I can't say I am any different . Can I ask you what XD is? I haven't a clue what it means or what it is.

I added the SPAT to my siggy! Just so you know, I know how you feel, I hate them as much as I do! I also just caught a typo!

XD is like a smiley thing, its a grinny... slitty eye... thing! if you look at it on its side you kinda get the picture!

I don't really mind typos, I make some myself sometimes (although it does annoy me) but what really bothers me is chatspeak... much like a lot of other people have said here.
My friends on messenger services type the strangest thing.... one seems to find that "tewmory" is the same thing as "tomorrow". That's just wrong.

As this thread hasn't seen activity since October, I'm going to put it in the archives. I'm sure those who are passionate about typos will still be able to use yelling and screaming in the epic battle to stop them.
