I was wondering what upcoming '06 movies everyone is looking forward to. I can't wait for December Boys, Pirates of the Caribbean 2, and........ darn, I can't think of any others. Can you remind me of some please? Then I'll add them to my mental list of must sees.

Have you seen the trailers for that Pink Panther movie? Looks pretty good and funny to me. Cars is the newest Dreamworks feature and there's also the new James Bond, Casino Royale, if you're into that.
And reflecting my unusual tastes --- Curious George and Franklin and Granny's Secret.

Ice Age 2, Meltdown.
That will be fantastic, I just know it. I loved the first one and can't wait for this one. Yay Scratch!!! I love that pre-historic squirrel thingy!!!
*gasps* Pirates of the Caribbean 2? I didn't know they were making another! Who's in it? Still Jonny Depp, Kiera Knightely and Orlando Bloom? OMG that will be so awesome if it's anything like the first!!

Well been a movie buff there will be quite a few movies I will be going to this year. But the main ones I am looking foward to that i know about at the moment would have to be:
1) Pirates of The Caribbean 2: Dead Man's Chest.
2) X3 or X-Men 3
3) Ice Age 2: Melt Down
4) Mortal Kombat: Devastation
I might go to these ones I am not to sure at the moment:
1) Underworld:Evolution
2) Spiderman 3
3) The Da Vinci Code
4) Final Destination 3
5) Mission Impossible 3
Also I read that there is a new Superman movie coming out this year called Superman Returns, thats one i know i will not be going to as i never liked the Superman thing but it is something for the Superman fans to look foward to.

Definatily Underworld Evolution. I loved the first one and the second one is heard to be much better. Benchwarmers is probably the movie that I'm most looking forward to. It's got David Spade, John Hedder (Napoleon Dynamite) and Rob Shinder. Three very funny people. You have to watch the preview. X-Men 3 looks pretty cool. I heard that this might be the last one they make but are planning to make a Wolverine after its all over. If my memory serves me right, I thought Spider-Man 3 comes out Summer 2007. I could be wrong but thats when I think it opens.
All the summer movies don't have date releases yet so I don't know them all.
EDIT: I just looked it up and Spider Man 3 comes out on May 4th, 2007.

There's a lot of sequels coming out this year that I'm looking forward to- Pirates of the Caribbean, X-Men, Mission Impossible (I loved the first, but I never actually saw the 2nd one), Ice Age, Final Destination etc.
I'm also wanting to see Casanova, which is coming out in Australia on Feb 14th (how fitting

) and the Da Vinci code- I loved the book

I wanna see Pirates of the Carribean 2, and X3, and the Da Vinci Code. And, don't call me corny, I want to see the Pink Panther.

Jan 10 2006, 12:09 AM
Definitely Pirates of the Caribbean 2!! My friend and I are obsessed with the first one, its pathetic. Also looking forward to Final Destination 3. Even though they're kind of corny, they're also quite creative. I also want to see Brokeback Mountain when it gets to my theater. I might see Underworld Evolution, its got a Lacuna Coil song in it....
Jordan
Jan 10 2006, 12:15 AM
Hehehe priori_incantatem! If someone call you corny, they're calling me corny also.

I really want to see the
Pink Panther. I think that Steve Martin is always a scream in movies. I think that he's a great actor. I saw the trailer for the Pink Panther and Martin has this hilarious french accent. I was on the floor laughing!

Anyway, while I recuperate myself...
The movies coming out this year that I really want to see are...
First and foremost, The
Da Vinci Code. I think that the book was extraordinary! Dan Brown is an amazing autor and writer. He deserves what he gets!
Uhh, I do want to see
Pirates of the Carribbean 2. That looks pretty good. The trailer that I saw for it was well done in terms of music and it really did catch the onlooker's attention.
Lets see...
Ice Age: The Meltdown. Definately. I adored the first and Scratch will always find his place on my "Things To Do" list.

Geez! Animations these days are amazing! I gotta tell ya. It looks great! And also the voice of the lady mammoth is Queen Latifa's so that's a 'must-see'

I'm not too fond of
X-Men... (I know you can slap me...

) I'm sure I see the movie anyhow, It just doesn't appeal to me. I saw the first two and they were okay. It just seems wierd to me... I don't know. *hides*
Happy Feet! Oh yeah! You can count on me to go see that one. Supposedly Robbin Williams does all of the voices... that's very cool. If anyone wants to see the trailer for that one. It's in the link in my siggy. (entitled 'Happy Feet'...) I really want to see that one. Tust me, it's way up there.
Final Destination 3 I will absolutely see. The first two were good and, why not see the 3rd? It comes out sometime in February in NYC. (I think...) I will go see that without hesitation.
Superman is a no for me. Don't ask me why. I just think the trailer was badly done. The plot doesn't really appeal to me that much. (Though I must confess, the cartoons are fun...

) Spiderman 3 is the same for me as Superman is. I do like the way the second film was created...
Mission Impossible 3?! There's going to be one! I haven;t heard about that one. I'll have to look into that. I suppose i'll see it if it happens to come up...
Alrighty, I think that's it for now. If there are new movies coming out that I forgot to mention, I'll update.

In the meantime, Happy Belated New Year everyone!

Aren't the movies (or at least the first one) of Phillip Pullman's books coming out this year?. Like the subtle knife and the amber spyglass and the first one which i can't remember.
Also I don't think many people have heard of them but my friend said they're making a film out of one of my favourite books The Spook's Apprentice by joseph Delaney.
I'm a huge fan of movies adapted from books.

Here's the dish according to Internet Movie Database on the His Dark Materials Project (first movie up, "The Golden Compass"):
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0385752/. Pullman himself has been pretty quiet about the whole movie deal. I'm not honestly sure if I should be excited about a movie being made for this or not. I have a high fear that it's going to be bad, just because the books are so long and it's going to be hard to cut out enough material to knock them down to the 2-3 hour long length without messing up the overall plot-line too much.
Related Pullman news, it sounds like "The Book of the Dust" is not coming out anytime soon. I've read that he does about three pages of work a day. It's supposed to be a narrative more than a flat-out guide to the series, taking place a few years after the last mini-book he put out (forget the name of it now. Darn). That's the scoop.
As for the film I'm looking forward to for 2006...none yet, actually. I'll probably go see "Pirates of the Carribean: Dead Man's Chest" because it will be fun, but nothing I'm really excited over hardcore. The next "X-Men" film might be okay, but I'm not a big Marvel person. I'm unfortunately not a big Superman person, but my boyfriend might move me to go see that.

I saw Munich last night (it was really good by the way) and there was a preview for a movie called 9-11 about the third plane, (ua-fl93) that was supposed to crash down over Washington, but the passengers stopped the terrorist from carrying out their plans. Has anybody seen this preview, it looks like an incredible movie. Does anybody know when it comes out?
Jordan
Jan 16 2006, 02:50 AM
Hmm… I haven’t heard of that one yet, SeventhHorcrux. To tell you the date of when it will come out, I am unable. However, I will look into it. If you saw the preview, do you by any chance know what the title of the movie was called? Was it simply, 9/11?
Anywho, I will check into it. I sort of want to see the preview myself. It’s pretty amazing from what you’re telling… another plane! I will look into it.
On a happier note. How was Munich? I heard it was great, though I don’t want to go see it if it’s not worth it.

I saw the preview and it wasn’t that attracting to me… I’ll probably see it anyway.
I saw
Last Holiday today. The one with Queen Latifah and LL Cool J. It was hysterical!

The critics in the newspaper had a different view however! Aww… They’re just too close-sighted. *chuckle* I would recommend it to anyone looking for drama/emotion and humor put together.
Another movie I really want to see is
Splinter Cell. Don’t ask me when it will come out because I have absolutely no clue.

I saw the teaser preview for it earlier today. You can tell that it will be a long while before it comes out because the preview was about 15 seconds long. (Half of that carrying the title and its special effects.) It didn’t even say ‘Coming Soon’ or anything like that. Just a blank screen at the end with no date. Definately not in 2006... maybe?

*sigh* I’m a huge splinter cell fan…

Last Holiday? Yeah, I saw some trailers for that. It looked pretty good to me too. I just looked over at Rotten Tomatoes and it's ranking at 51%. So it's not Fresh, but it seems it's a bit more liked than disliked by the critics. Very mixed reaction, apparently.
One critic says:
"The pace drags, the stunt double work is obvious and the slapstick, especially a ski-hill scene, is contrived and extended."
But another comments:
"An appealing morality play in which Queen Latifah demonstrates a warm embrace of life with humor and humanity."

I'm not really looking forward to any movies at the moment. The only trailers for 2006 movies I've seen are Zathura, and that seems pretty, erm, weird. But I'm sure there will be loads of good movies this year, my country is a bit, uh, slow on the up take

. Basically we hear of all the movies weeks after they've been released in other countries. Just wondering, who here has read the Molly moon books and knows if or when the movie is coming out? I've heard that they are making the movie, maybe that was just a rumor though.

Pirates of the Caribbean 2, definitely! I'm a Johnny Depp fan. He's my favorite actor plus there's Orlando Bloom, one of my fantasy boyfriend. He's the hottest man alive for me (aside from Daniel) so what could I ask for and I really waited for this movie!
X-Men 3 is another one. I love Halle Berry and Hugh Jackman and I also anticipated this movie.
And of course, Da Vinci Code. I re- read the book again and I can't wait for the movie!

Pirates of the Caribbean 2. I LOVE the first movie (pure brilliance) and I can tell that the sequel is going to be stunning! I especially like it because of Johnny Depp....he's my favorite actor, and I respect him more than other actors because of his willingness to take the extremely odd or weird roles in movies...(that would include PotC)
I can't wait! *dances to the 'Pirates life for me' song*

I was wondering about December Boys, will it be playing in Canadian theatres? I know it was a small budget film and those movies don't usually play in big theatres. Anyone have an answer for me on that?

Jan 24 2006, 07:11 PM
oi! that's a question very difficult to answer... there will be loads of extremely good pictures... I could list some, I guess:
*Pirates of the Caribbean = well, Johny Depp, Orlando Bloom, lots of action.. what else can you ask for?

*X-men 3 = I am not sure if it will be released on 2006, but I am really looking forward to it!!

*Da Vinci Code = oh man! that book is just amazing! I am sure the movie will rock! besides, Tom Hanks is one of my favorite actors

*Una Pelicula de Huevos = hahaha.. well I think this will only be for Mexico but I don't know.. the point is.. this little eggs really crack me up!! maybe I should provide a link to the site, in case you are interested in finding out more about them
www.huevocartoon.comBelieve me, they are far funnier in Spanish...

*Superman and Munich = I reckon they will be interesting...
I don't know those are all the films I could thought of, but I am sure this year we'll have lots of cool movies!

I cant wait to see Pirates of the Carribean 2. The first movie was awesome and i re-watched it quite a few times. I love the way the Johnny Depp acted as the pirate. There's also a sequel to the movie Underworld. It's called Underworld:Evolution if i'm not mistaken. Underworld was and is one of my favourite movies, especially if you like movies on the supernatural. X-Men 3 is also coming out this year. I loved the two previous movies and i even watch the animation show. X-Men seriously rocks !!

Happy Feet: I went to see Narnia and they showed the cutest ad for this! About the Penguins!
And...
Curious George: I know, I'm a teen, but this still looks adorable!I love it in the commercial where George paints a smiley on the elephant's butt! My best friend and I are going to see it together!

I'm also looking foreward to The DaVinci Code, I really enjoyed the book and the movie will be interesting. And I do hope December Boys and Driving Lessons will get here, but if they don't I'll find a way to watch them

I'm sure there's some movies I'm forgetting now, but those are the ones I remember... I'm going to see Brokeback Mountain on Saturday, so I'm looking foreward to that as well

oooh... wrong question to ask a movie buff....
Pirates of the Carribean 2 (obviously

) X-Men 3... massive massive X-men fan have been since i was a kid.
Superman returns, I didn't really like the original ones that much, but this one looks like it could be good.
The Da Vinci Code. Even though i hae yet to read the book, i'm looking forward to it. I shall read it before it comes out!
There are more, but i can't remember them, looks like everyones waiting foir the new Pirates of the Carribbean to come out! I don't blame you... hmmmm johnny Depp.
Oh btw, whats with the deal of the sudden boom of RE-making movies? The producers? the Omens being re made, King Kong was re made. The Pink Panther, charlie and the chocolate factory... (even though i loved it) Superman... It's curious.
Who's idea was it to remake the Producers though? The original is classic! I weeped when i saw there was a remake... i will not be seeing it...
OK, i'm done.

I'm looking forward to Pirates2 aswell. But I'm not sure if the ending will be satisfactory. (Apparantly, the story runs into Pirates3 awell) I'm not to sure about X3. X2 wasnt that good. And has evryone forgoten about STORMBREAKER, or does no one here read the Alex Rider books? Also, I can't believe their making Garfield2. There wad no way that the first movie deserved to have a sequal.
V for Vandetta should be good. The graphic Novel was. I enjoyed it.
Scary MOvie 4 might be worth a look at. Even though I didnt bother seeing the third one. Maybe I should have.
Oh and I almost forgot. The Anchorman follow up (Not sequal) The Ballad of Ricky-Bobby
Thats all I can think of for now

OOTP I hope it comes out this year! But I'm not getting my hopes up! These movies take long, but maybe a little miracle can happen, you never know! My Christmas present come early

Well, the OotP release date is set to be december '07, at the earliest. And yes, there is a Scary Movie 4 four coming out. superhero movies are set to be the main theme of it.
And, oh my god, I forgot about the Eragon movie coming out in December!
And apparently there is going to be a Jacka55 2 movie, coming out in October.

X3, baby! I'm very excited about that! I saw a preview of a preview for it. . .um, yeah. It looks good! Can't wait to get Warren involved, though I do wonder why they picked him when they leave out so many other great characters. Ah well. . . I had misgivings about nightcrawler for the last one. . .shut my mouth!
Pirates 2, yes, I agree. Looking forward to that one.
I'll probably avoid DaVinci Code for the same reason I avoided HP for so long. . .too much hype!
Are there any other movies coming out in 06?
The kids are looking forward to Pixar's Cars. Heh.
EDIT: Oh, yeah. . .just reviewed Helen's post. . .Superman will be interesting. You're not missing anything at all, Ygraine, with not seeing the Producer's remake. They pretty much took it directly from stage, which works well for stage, but on screen-totally overacted and overdone. Ah well.
Remakes are hot. Does it come in phases, or are people having trouble with originality these days?

Besides X3, V for Vendetta, The Ballad of Ricky-Bobby, and Pirates, I can't wait until Silent Hill comes out. I'm not sure if anyone is familiar with the games, but they're the probably the best survivor horror games out there - meaning, they're terrifying to the point of not being able to beat it entirely because it scares the poo out of you.
Iiick, the movie looks so creepy. It's nothing like Scream or other cliche horror movies such as that, it's more psychological and supernatural. It feeds off paranoia and the unknown. There's disturbing monsters that have hands and feet coming from places that shouldn't, they make the most unearthly noises ever, and... some of it is just unmentionable. Well, the games are like that. Considering video games can cross the barrier of right and wrong a bit easier than most mediums out there, I don't think the movie will be as bad - as in frightening - but still good enough to be compared to the games.

I am soooo looking forward to Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest. Mmm...Johnny. Orlando can just walk the plank. I'm there to see the 42 year old! I hope it turns out pretty good. The Da Vinci Code looks pretty interesting, and I think I might go see Ice Age 2 even though it didn't get too hot of reviews around here. Has anyone heard of the movie Slither? It's about killer slugs or something. Super slimy and icky. I think that would be a good one to go see and creep myself out over. I've also heard of Silent Hill. It's supposed to be really scary so I've heard, and my friend wants me to see it with her, so I might go see that one too. I talk too much.
