Copied straight from the original, since it was up to 52 pages and getting on in years wink.gif

The Rules: First person posts a quotation from book, next person guesses who said it. If he or she is sure of answer, then she/he is allowed to post another quotation. If a person is not sure, then he/she must wait for the confirmation.

The Current Quote:
QUOTE
What are Heliopaths?
Jordan
Aha! I have it! The person who said "Who are Heliopaths?" is the one and only... Neville! He says it to Luna in OotP smile.gif *crossesfingers* I'm positive.

Ah... such a simple quotation yet so complex at the same time. *speculates*. Anyway, I'm 100% positive got it right. I have absolutely no doubt in my mind, however, I would hate to be embarrassed because it was someone entirely different. I'm sure though because I was reading that chapter in OotP when I stumbled upon this thread... Hmm.. strangely coincidental... ph34r.gif

(Great idea by the way. I guess I'm a bit late since there was an older thread which was 52 pages long... blink.gif But nevertheless, kudos!)

Pheonix
Pixymajik
ROFL! Thanks for the 'kudos' wink.gif

You HAVE got it right of course- I was hoping it might have been a LITTLE tricky, but I figured that someone would know that it had been said to Luna, but not know who it was;)

Anyways-- you're up smile.gif
Jordan
*Tee hee*! Thaniks Pix! smile.gif Alrighty then,... I've got a quote for you guys! Fairly simple...

"Very well," said ----- "you will recieve the results for you inspection in ten days' time."

Hope it's alright! wink.gif See you soon!
Hermione 14
Is it Umbridge in OotP, to Hagrid after his inspection... hmm..unless its to another teacher?? not sure.. but to Hagrid is my guess

QUOTE (Hermione 14 @ Jan 11 2006, 05:28 PM)
Is it Umbridge in OotP, to Hagrid after his inspection... hmm..unless its to another teacher?? not sure.. but to Hagrid is my guess

Hiya Kelly! Yes you are correct! It was said by Dolores Umbride in OotP. Though not to Hagrid... She said it to Professor McGonagall after her inspection. wink.gif I can count that though... I think... Afterall you have to guess who said it rather than to who it was said... smile.gif Good job. I suppose you're up next! Good luck!
Hermione 14
sorry for the wait guys.. but here it goes...*picks up random HP book; *flips to random page...and the quote is...
QUOTE
Oh, don't.

Good Luck!

-kelly
Jordan
Hmmm... That's a toughie! smile.gif There are multiple "Oh dont's" That I could think of in Jo's series. Though judging by the italics on the don't I can gather that whoever said it was trying to emphasize the end. The only person who I can think of who said that would be noneother than Hermione. Hmmm.... I'm not sure, so I'm waiting for confirmation, Kelly. wink.gif

*squeals* New thread!!
Hehe, anyway, yeah, it does sound Hermione. Is it in the sixth book when she takes away the frizbee from a first year or something, and then Ron starts playing with it, and she becomes frustrated?
Snapelover
I agree that it sounds like Hermione, but I think it was her while Peeves was telling Moaning Myrtle about what they said about her. I don't have my SS book, so I can't confirm! tongue.gif
Hermione 14
sorry guys, but you're all wrong..its not Hermione *shocked face*.. so..keep guessing, and let me know if you need a hint smile.gif

-kelly
Jordan
Hmm… Not Hermione, huh? Sure is a toughie! You deluded us all! tongue.gif Well, I’m sort of guessing it is the female of the species talking. Though, since Hermione is out of the picture, I would have to say Ginny. To tell you to who she’s saying it to, I have absolutely no clue. I could guess that she’s directing her dialogue towards Harry, but I’m not at all sure… unsure.gif Hope that’s right…

If not then I’ll just keep on guessing! rolleyes.gif Great way to stump us all! See you later, mate.

Jordan
Hermione 14
yes, it is Ginny though not to Harry..to Fred and George in CoS, when there talking about asking Harry about who his next victim is because he is the "Heir of Slytherin"..so you've got it right about the speaker so its your turn now!! give us a good one smile.gif

-Kelly
Jordan
Hehehe ! Yay ! Alrighty, you guys want a good one? How about this one... smile.gif-->
QUOTE ( Page ----? @ Book ----?, From ----? smile.gif)
Nasty little brat of a blood traitor he is…

That’s the best one I could come up with right now. I’m exhausted so forgive me if you get it in a jiffy. wink.gif Hope you like it! See you soon,

Jordan
Hermione 14
hmm..is it Malfoy talking about the Weaselys, because he thinks theyre 'blood traitors' because Mr. Weasley loves muggles?? I dont know, first thing I thought of though..

-Kelly
Jordan
Ahh… Nope I’m sorry! Good guess though! wink.gif If I didn’t know who it was, I would have guessed the same thing at first. Keep guessing! I have to retire for the night but I’ll be back on in about 24 hours’ time. (I know it’s long. But hey, look on the bright side! It’ll give other readers a chance to share their thoughts on who they think it is! smile.gif

*chuckle* See you later! Hope you can cope! tongue.gif

Is it Kreacher talking about Harry in either OotP or even in HBP? Sounds like something kreacherish to me as he was always mumbling insults about those in his mistress' house.

passer
Bumblebee
I think it's definitely Kreacher in OotP. It sounds like one of his mutterings when he's speaking his mind pretending that nobody can hear him.
He may be talking about Ron Weasly, a pureblood who is defending a Mudblood (Hermione) ...

You want the page too? ... sorry, I don't have the books here. I I had, I could look it up! Because I'm not sure that it is about Ron, it could be about Sirius as well.
Looooony Luna
yeah its from kreacher but i think it was to the weasly twins..

somethings telling me its to them..
Hallia
I'm absolutely sure it's Kreacher, as all of you, and also almost positive it is said to one of the Weasley boys, probably Ron, like Albus said. I think it is when they're cleaning the drawing room and Kreacher enters to avoid them getting rid of the Black tapestry.
Astraea
Why are you pondering over it so long?

It goes like this (I think):

QUOTE
'Kreacher did not see young master,' he said, turning around and bowing to Fred. Still lacing the carpet, he added, perfectly audibly, 'Nasty little brat of a blood traitor it is.'

'Sorry?' said George. 'Didn't catch that last bit.'

'Kreacher said nothing,' said the elf, with a second bow to George, adding in a clear undertone, 'and there its twin, unnataral little beasts they are.'

I hate the elf! HATE hate hate hate!
Jordan
Sorry I've been absent for so long guys! I had a few personal problems. dry.gif Anywho, you all are right on the money! Yay! The quote was:
QUOTE (Kreacher @ Page 108, OotP)
'Nasty little brat of a blood traitor it is.'

You were all correct, however, the first to get it right was passerby. I'm still a little shaky with the rules of this game so forgive me. (If someone has it but needs confirmation, and someone after after definately knows it... who gets to go?) I'm guessing it's passer but forgive me if I'm wrong. So until then, Passer, it's your turn mate! wink.gif

Pheonix

EDIT: Thanks for the passage Astraea! smile.gif
passerby
Okay, here's the next one to have a go at:

QUOTE
Yeah, I like that stuff.

Happy guessing!

passer
Jordan
Hmm... That's a good one. I have absolutely no idea who it is. blink.gif However I'll still have a go. My first bid is on Neville. I don't know why, it just seems to me like he would be the one to say something like that... Of course there are plenty of other possibilities, though, Neville is the first which comes to mind. I'm waiting for confirmation... smile.gif *crosses.fingers*

Happy.... Answering? tongue.gif

Phoenix
Bumblebee
Gosh, this is a tough one ...
Is it Ron in GoF, when he and Harry are impersonating Crabbe and Goyle and trying to act like them, when they are talking to Draco in the Slytherin Common Room?
Pixymajik
I'm going to go with Harry in POA. He says it to Lupin after he offers him Butterbeer. Lupin looks suprised and Harry lies and says that Ron and Hermione had brought him back some previously (because he had snuck out of Hogwarts)
passerby
Nope, Nope and Yep. biggrin.gif Just when I thought I'd picked a tough one. . . I'm no match for you HP wizards. . .heh.

It is indeed Harry in PoA after Lupin offers him a reward of Butterbeer for doing so well with his patronus charm practice. . .

You're up, Pixy!

passer
Pixymajik
There are some that I seem to just KNOW and then others that have me stumped for aaaaages. It's odd rolleyes.gif

A relatively easy one I think---

"All the subjects required, in short, for an Auror"
Hallia
oh, oh... I think I kbnow this one. That's Snape in HBP when they're at Slughorn's Christmas party and Slughorn(I think) asks Harry what subjects he is taking apart fr4om potions, and Harry tells him and then Snape says that quote, and Harry says something like "Yes, that's what I want to be".
Bumblebee
I think it's in OotP, said by Dolores Umbridge while she sits in as Hogwarts Inquisitor during Harry's career counselling session with Professor McGonagall.
passerby
Or maybe it's McGonagall herself when she's having that "what-do-you-want-to-be-when-you-grow-up" conference with Harry and maybe she hands him the list of classes that he will need. . .in OotP.
Jordan
Hmm.. I have to say, that I agree completely with Passer. McGonagall seems to have said that. I doubt that Umbridge would be giving advice to Harry. (I don't remember her doing so... blink.gif. It would be a bit odd, huh?)

So, that's my final guess. Nobody else springs to mind... smile.gif

Happy.... Answering? ph34r.gif

Pheonix

EDIT: Aha! I was wrong. I have just double checked and found out for sure.
QUOTE (Snape @ HBP, JKR)
"Defense Against the Dark Arts, Charms, Transfiguration , Herbology..."

"All the subjects required, in short, for an Auror ," said Snap e with the faintest sneer.

"Yeah, well, that's what I'd like to do," said Harry defiantly.

"And a great one you'll make too!" boomed Slughorn.

My final answer is Snape! Sneeky little man! rolleyes.gif So I guess I agree with Hallia! See you all around!

Pheonix
Pixymajik
ROFL!! Yep, Hallia was right. I was hoping that it was going to be a LITTLE tricky, because Harry had a couple of Auror conversations with a different people.

But Slughorn asked him what subjects he was taking, Harry told him and Snape sneers wink.gif

Hallia's up smile.gif
Hallia
OK, I hadn't checked trhis so I've just seen I was up. So sorry for the delay, guys... sad.gif

Anyway, here I go... UHm, difficult, as I'm at uni now and haven't got any HP books with me(should be studying, you know?? Just went out for a little break laugh.gif half an hour break already... laugh.gif )

Here goes:

QUOTE
"...imagine having to live off rats"

Happy guessing!!
Bumblebee
Hmmm...
Hermione in PoA, about Sirius living in the cave near Hogsmeade and having nothing better than rats to eat?
Snapelover
Yeah, I agree with Bumblebee, but I think Ron said that. Not sure though. But she has the when and where right, in my opinion. tongue.gif
Hallia
Yep, when was right, not when though. It's not POA, mates, and it's not Hermione, but it is Ron, so I'll give it to you, Melissa. It is actually in GOF when Sirius is living in a cave near Hogsmeade.

You're up, Melissa!
Snapelover
Oh...sorry folks. Didn't mean to keep you waiting. Alright, here is mine:

QUOTE
But I had my wand hidden up my sleeve

Happy Guessing!
Hermione 14
hmm..Im thinking Lockhart, because doesnt he brag about all of his great adventures to everyone, and whatever he was facing didnt know that he had his wand..

-Kelly
felix_felicis_444
Thinking along the same lines as Kelly with the bragging....could it be Draco? I kind of remember something about Draco aveing his wand up his sleeve in...I think the Astronomy Tower? hmmm...I can't remember what book, though, but I thought it was an odd place o keep your wand blink.gif haha....

_daviD
Snapelover
Ah yes...bragging...but...you are both wrong. It was neither Draco nor Lockheart! Please try agian! (I really didn't think this one was all that hard!)
felix_felicis_444
Could it be Harry recounting one of his -- for lack of a better word -- "adventures"? I really cannot place this quote with a particular person, but if you say its a bragger, I can only think of Lockhart, Draco, and Harry.....

_daviD
Jordan
It’s Ron right? I am almost positive that it is him. (Taking into consideration that Draco and Locke are out of the picture.) I would have guessed Harry as well, but, he has enough attention all around – why brag…? (I always had the feeling that Ron would be the one bragging about doing something… so he could have some of the limelight. wink.gif

Hmm.. my final guess is Ron. I’m trying to find the full quote for confirmation. Gof is the first book I’m guessing on because that’s where Ron is somewhat distant with Harry… blink.gif

And don’t worry! Making the quotes hard is part of the fun!

*crosses.fingers* smile.gif

Pheonix

EDIT: Whew! I found it. I was correct, it is infact Ron who says it.

QUOTE (Ron @ GoF, Chapter 27)
''But I had my wand hidden up my sleeve,' he assured Padma Patil, who seemed to be a lot keener on Ron now that he was getting so much attention, and was making a point of talking to him every time they passed in the corridors. 'I could've taken those mer-idiots any time I wanted.''

I will, however, wait for your confirmation, Melissa. wink.gif I want to be one hundred percent sure! *chuckle* See you soon!
Hermione_Resilda
Wow...I actually know this. It's Ron, like Phoenix2Fire said, but it's him boasting to Padma Patil (and his followers) about the second task when he was taken captive of the Merpeople, and Harry had to rescue him. No one knew that Ron wasn't really in danger, so he just made that up for publicity. Ach..Ron... tongue.gif
Snapelover
Yes! biggrin.gif Hermione_Resilda has that one! Very good! Sometimes people freak me out by what they know. laugh.gif
Hermione_Resilda
Yay, thanks! That one's always stuck in my mind because I love Ron, but it amazed me when I read GoF after reading OotP, at how much he was like Harry's father...heh.
Anyway, here's mine...

QUOTE
The odds on that must be very, very long, even Bagman wouldn't have bet--
passerby
Sounds like a Fred or George line. Probably when they were conspiring for something or another at some time or another. Can't think of anything specific except for the bets they were taking in GoF. . .but I somehow don't think that's right. Ah well.

passer
felix_felicis_444
Or it could be Mr. Weasley....in a similar scenario as passerby said.
I remember in Goblet of Fire at the beginning of the Quidditch World Cup....Fred and George told them about their bet? Maybe? Hah, who knows...I took a stab at thin air...

_daviD
Pixymajik
No, it's during the Court scene in OOTP.... I can't think who says it though. They are talking about the Dementors and Dumbledore replies that they weren't there by accident or something.

I think it must be Fudge. I KNOW it's not Madam Bones and Umbridge doesn't say much during that period, so I think it must be Fudge
Hermione_Resilda
Good job, Pixy! You were write, it was Fudge during Harry's Hearing, and he could hardly believe that two dementors could be in Little Whinging..
