I've been thinking recently that Dumbledore might die in either the 6th or 7th book. Has anyone else been thinking this? I mean he has been looking alot older lately, it says so in the 5th book. That he looks old and tired and all that. But if he did die I would want it to be in battle or something. I just can't imagine Dumbledore going without a fight. Ya know? I really don't want him to die, but I really think he will.
Any ideas?

Dumbledore can NOT die. He's like the source of all hope when there is none that anyone else knows about. He's also able to pull an answer out of thin air. Nobody can replace Dumbledore, and Nobody ever will. Albus Dumbledore Forever!

I don't think DD will die. Or more accurately, don't WANT him to die. He can't. Like you said. I just...well it could happen and if it does it would have to be in a fight. Not just being old. But it would have to Voldemort. Not just some DE.
Hey maybe he will sacrifice himself for Harry and thats hwo he will beat him.
This is soo sad...

well...he might die, in the last book at least.
(key word being might)
but if he does, i think he will die in a battle. can you think of any other way of how he might die?
but i'm just hoping he wont, he's one of my favorite characters, and usually one the one who keeps the story going. plus, how will harry take it if he did die?

well, Harry would be really really mad and want to kill Voldemort even more than before. So it could be the thing that finally pushes Harry off the edge to go after Voldy and finally get rid of him.
And Astronomylover, I never said anything about Dumbledore being replaced so there's no need to say all that. And you can't say that Dumbledore can't die, just because you don't want him to. I wasn't saying he would I was just saying that I've got a feeling he might. And besides when it comes to JKR you have to be ready for anything to happen. You know how she is.
I really don't want him to die because he is also one of my favorite characters but I'm not ruling out his death just because I don't want it to happen. But I really really think he's gonna die.

I dink Dumbledore may die before or after the big showdown.. He might end up giving Harry some piece of information dat he may need to battle Voldemort... i just gonna be sad to say good-bye to dumbledore after so many years....

I think he's the HOPE that is always gonna be there. It is said that in the previous war (ara when Voldemort was back) he looked tired, old, and beat. So...it could just be him, otherwise he is full of energy.

Of course this could be just one of my crazy theories like Harry dying and all that. But I still say it's possible that Dumbledore is gonna die.

Yeah, but it's ok. As of now, everything is possible.

It would be the type of storyline where the guardian of the hero dies, leaving the hero all alone to grow and defeat the evil without protection (it happens in most books so it is possible). All though in a way, DD has removed himself from the fight, and is letting Harry get his chances so he may not have to die (just imprisoned somewhere?).

There a possibilisties that Dumbledore might died. And then it got me thinking, what would happen with his Money?? Would he give them to harry?

LuciusMalfoy
Aug 15 2004, 01:09 AM
I'm just saying that it really could happen. In a lot of the books he's the one who's always sent away or something like that. Like in CoS didn't he have to leave the school? And in the 5th book too.
But you're right pots31...He does remove himself so that Harry can have his chance. He always has such faith in Harry.
It would suck to see him go, but I'm waiting for it.

I don't think I could stand it, if Voldy killed Dumbledore. It would be so wrong, cause you see Dumbledore as this wizard that has so much power and life and then he's the only wizard that Voldy fears. But to think of Voldy killing gim *shudder* its just weird.
But then again I can't see him dying any other way. Or getting killed by anyone else, or by natural causes. I don't know. It's just gonna be really sad.

Okay, I know I already posted in this thread, but I think my opinion is a bit altered, now that I think about it

. Dumbledore has been through so much with Voldemort that he probably will die. Honestly, from reading the books, he has been like the whole big guy that controls everything, making sure everything goes according to plan (okay, not to this extent, but something of this context). After all the chaos has been settled, finalizing the peace when Voldemort is defeated, Dumbledore dies because he has fulfilled his purpose (something like that).

I really hope he doesn't die but if he does I don't think it will be in the 6th book. If he does I think it will probably be towards the end of the 7th book. But I hope he doesn't die but if he does it will be to help Harry I think.

I don't want to believe it either, but I really think it will happen. I think Dumbledore will die in battle with Voldemort or in some sort of battle. If I know him well enough, and I think I do, he'd choose to die in battle, just like Sirius. Sorry, I brought up Sirius.

*cries* Anyway, I think that Dumbledore needs to die so Harry can grow up. He needs to show a sense of maturity that Dumbledore always brought to him. Harry needs to know how to fight his own battles, and with Dumbledore there, he's never doing anything himself. He's always had help from Dumbledore somehow. Dumbledore has fulfilled his purpose, and by the end of the 7th book, will have gotten Harry (somewhat) safely through Hogwarts, and aided Harry along the way in defeating Voldemort 4 times. He's done all he can do, so it will be his time to go. And in order for Harry to be able to kill Voldemort, I think first Voldemort will have to kill Dumbledore. Then Harry will be angry enough to finish Voldemort once and for all. But Dumbledore will never be gone. He's too powerful of a wizard to leave without some sort of imprint. He'll always be there. He's inside Hogwarts, he's in everything. In CoS he said something along the lines of that he'll always remain as long as those who are loyal to him, stay loyal. I don't remember exactly how that was worded, but I think I still got the general point across. I don't think Harry deserves to lose anyone else, but this is one that has to be lost. I hate to say it and I hate to believe it. But, I do think it's true.

Words right out of my mouth, Weasley Is My King x3. I couldn't have put it better myself. Exactly.
Now I could've seen him dying (in battle) in the 6th book but then I think "hey, who will be the in charde of Hogwarts during Harry's 7th year?" So hey, I don't think he'll die until the 7th book.
Gosh, I'm going to be crying non stop through the next two books.

I think he will die i just dont want it to happen. He has fulfilled hes perpose and would have seen Harry complete Hogwart as safely as you could bet on considering its Hogwart and Harry and harry's friends and all of course dumbledore will never leave Hogwart he will always be there just not in a physical way, more of an emotional type of way. Man Im gonna be crying my eyes out with the next 2 books, i already have to turn in my messed up paper tomorrow because i was reading OOTP instead of doing my homework and then sirius, sirius, he ____ (I cannot stand to say the evil D word) and it got all over my world studies and english paper.... o well....

When Dumbledore dies (in book 7?) Voldemort will go on a rampage -- the only wizard he fears will be gone.
Harry will then have to become the new wizard he fears.

I think Voldemort will kill Dumbledore when he tries to save Harry, who, in turn, will become so angry and guilty that he will avenge his death. This will happen if Book seven of course (if it does) and will then end the wizard war.

I don't think it's going to be that simple. But we know that Jo can't kill him off until he's told Harry everything he needs to because Jo said that once the series is over, everything will be explained. There won't be any more questions, and who else would tell Harry [which is prety much the only way we can find out, unless the Dursley's know] if it's not DD telling him...

Death for a powerfull wizard such as Dumblador is impossible. At least thats what i think. Someone mentioned that Dumblador looks older in the last book. Seomthing we learnt from book 2 and book 4 is that dont trust what you see.
Book 2: Lochheart(sp?) with all his work turned out to be fake.
Book 4: Alaster Moody turned out to be an imposter ( Barty Crouch).

But I do think he'll die at the end of the series.

I believe that Dumbledore will die in either the sixth or seventh book. Harry has always relied on Dumbledore to tell him what to do - Dumbledore always thinks of some solution to the problem. Harry even thinks this: "Harry stared up into the grave face and felt as though the ground beneath him were falling sharply away. He had grown used to the idea that Dumbledore could solve anything." (Note: emphasis mine) -- Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, pg. 393, American edition. In order for Harry to defeat Voldemort, he (Harry) will have to figure out how alone. Dumbledore will not be able to tell him how, as Dumbledore doesn't know himself. However, Harry will expect Dumbledore to guide him if Dumbledore is alive. If Dumbledore is dead, though, he won't be able to tell Harry what to do, so Harry will have to think for himself and figure out how to "vanquish the Dark Lord" without Dumbledore's help. Only then will he be able to kill Voldemort.

My ideas exactly.
I think that Dumbledore will die before Harry finally defeats Voldy, and before Harry figures out how to do that.

Harry will have to do stuff without support which will be interesting. Dumbledore will die because the end of the book will be her closing a chapter.

I'm not sure if Dumbledore will die, but if he does, I think it will be after Harry and Ron die. I think it was in PoA, at Christmas dinner Trelawny said something like "When 13 dine together, the first to rise will be the first to die". Dumbledore was sitting at the table of 13, and Ron and Harry both stood up at the same exact time. I know that Trelwany is "an old fraud" most of the time, but I think this might be one of JKR's little hints. Unless when Harry and Ron both stood up, it contadicts the "first to ris will be the first to die", if it is really true, and Dumbledore, or anyone seated at the table dies before Harry and Ron.

Yes, but when you consider it wouldn't two rising cancel out the original superstition. It is only superstition. Anyway Trelawney sometimes says things just to keep up with a mystical aura.

if dumbledore were to die Voldemort would have to kill him, either that or he would have to die of natrual causes.
LuciusMalfoy
Sep 29 2004, 01:49 PM
I don't see DD dyinf of natural causes or anything like that. He's gonna die in battle and in a very...not hero way, but like a warrior. You know what I mean?

Dumbledore is going to die fighting. Showing the exact courage that Lily and James showed. Which is perhaps influential?
I think Voldemort will kill him.
LuciusMalfoy
Sep 30 2004, 08:17 PM
Yeah, I can't really see anyone else killing him. It has to be Voldy. Which will make Harry really really want to kill Voldy. It'll probably be the thing to set Harry off and finally battle the Dark Lord.

I believe that DD will get killed by Voldemort. He will die like a hero and perhaps that will spark the final confrontation.
And I have said this all before....
Dracoluver
Oct 7 2004, 06:58 PM
Of DD is gonna get killed by Voldy, I bet Harry is going to want revenge, and I think that's how he's going to vanquish Voldy. IF he doesn't die too.
LuciusMalfoy
Oct 7 2004, 07:46 PM
I think I said that in one of the posts above. lol.
But I think that Harry might die also, so he will kill Voldy and then die from injuries or something OR Voldy and Harry will kill each other. Something like that.

I think that Harry or Dumbledore kill Voldemort... The End
kreacher_the_house_elf
Oct 15 2004, 07:18 AM
Well Malfoyka I suppose you haven't fully understood certain events. We are not talking about Voldemort dying. We are talking about Dumbledore dying. So please read the rules and if you want to discuss it I am sure that there is a thread here somewhere...
Back on topic.. Dumbledore might even die of old age. The Harry Potter Lexicon or on jkrowling.com I read that he was 150. So.. It could be anything.
Mainly though I believe that he will die in battle. Like a hero... hmmm..
LuciusMalfoy
Oct 16 2004, 05:11 PM
Yeah, I just couldn't see him dying naturally...I don't know why. I want Dumbledore to go out in a blaze of glory. I'm thinking he might die either in the beginning or the middle of the 7th book.
Lily_Potter_1243
Oct 17 2004, 01:55 AM
I agree, I could not see DD dieing natrually I think he will probobly die twoards the end of the 7th book.(in battle) This will then leave Harry indipendant. I think thats will leave a clear path for HArry to kill voldemort. DD has always jumped in when Harry was either close to death or close to killing voldemort. So in book 7 it will either end with Harry Diing or voldemort. Thats why I think DD will have to die. But don't get me wrong I wish he wouldn't!
Weasley Is My King x3
Oct 20 2004, 12:14 AM
Yeah, all of this has been said previous. But anyway, I think DD will die fighting Voldemort because Harry needs freedom. DD was always there for him, and Harry needs to be independant now. He needs to fight his own battles. I think that somehow Fawkes will tie in, since Fawkes always has before. And I also think that Harry will die along with Voldemort. They will die killing each other, because that is the only way that the series can end. If it doesn't end with Harry dying then everyone will want another book out after to know what Harry's job was. And stuff like that.
Oops, I got a little off topic.

Anyway, DD has to die. And that's that. Natural causes? Can you really see DD just falling asleep one night and not waking up? No. That's not his style. He's going to go down brave, and be remembered for it too.
LuciusMalfoy
Oct 20 2004, 08:29 PM
Maybe DD dies and Harry gets Fawkes (JKR did mention that Harry might be getting another pet, or maybe DD will just give the bird to him, eh)
But yeah, DD is gonna die and he's gonna go down fighting.
