Hi. Mods i did a search and didnt really find anything the same. There is a topic about American Football, soccer, and Aussie football, but i wanted to keep this one American football specific. If you lock it though...i wont be mad...promise!
Ok, well i love football. I really can't get enough of it, it's quite scary. so i thought i would start a thread about it. We can talk about games, favorite teams, players, or coaches your respect.
My favorite team is the Tampa Bay Bucs. Even though they have had a few rough seasons since the superbowl, i still follow them. Also im from chicago so the Bears are a huge part of my life.
My favorite player is Joe Jurevicius. He is a wide receiver who used to play for Tampa Bay but got traded to Seattle this off season. he's playing in the 4th receiver spot, but i think he should be in the second...just my opinion.
Least favorite player is Payton Manning. Don't ask me why. I just don't like him. He is an amazing athlete, just think he's a bit of a sell out.
My guy friends joke i know more about football then they do. If i was a guy i would have played but i restricted myself to only playing powderpuff football. Where, if i do say so myself, i dominated. Little Sopmores and Juniors fled at my Defensive End skills.

I love football too. My favorite team is the Redskins. I live near there, so I have always supported them. I also like the Chiefs and the Packers though too.
That's funny, I used to play defensive end too when I played, although I didn't play powderpuff.

Ah football, something to do on Sunday afternoon and night. I love the sport and is the best sport to watch.
My favorite team is the Eagle's. I think they have the most balanced team on both sides of the football. On offense they have Donavan McNabb, Terrel Owens, Brian Wesbrook, and the 2 best offensive line in the NFL. On defense they have Javon Kurse, Brian Dawkins, Jermia Trotter and Mark Siminoeu. They one of the best kickers in the NFL, David Akers.
My favorite players are Ladamian Tommelson, Michel Vick, Terrel Owens, and Jellus Peppers. I think if Vick improved on his passing, no one could stop him. Great player all around though.
My least favorite player is Tom Brady. He is a pretty boy not a quarterback. The only reason he is good is because he is surrounded by talent, something I think he doesn't have.
Well I could go on all day on this topic but I'l stop.

I don't reallyhave a favorate team. I just like watching it for fun. I don't like the patriots though...
But there are some good teams. I have a dallas cowboys sweatshirt. i never really watch them play, but the hoodie is cute.

Seeing as i respect you very much Vincent i'll ignore you're Packers comment lol

Bears and Packers never mix.
I agree Vick has been steadily improving over the years. He was amazing on the ground and in the air this past game (agaisnt that Eagles). As much as i do respect the Eagles as a team i have a cold spot in my heart for their fans. During the Cahmpionship run of Tampa Bay a few years back the crowd started jeering at Joe jurevicius about his son, who had dies in infancy in previous weeks. I just think that thats WAY below the belt.
Also T.O. is an amazing athlete, it just sicken me when he (and countless others) set such a negative example for younger players. He just brings animosity to the game. I'm all for a little trash talking but the things he says to the secondary defensive players are horrible. To think 10 year olds are looking up to him

Don't get me wrong Pro football is littered with these kind of egomaniacle players. I think thats why im slowly moving towards college ball... Go Beavers! (my college)
I agree, football is the best sport....ever. I'm counting down the days till playoffs. *crosses fingers Bucs will finally make it again*

Hmm...football?
Not my favorite sport, but you can get excited about it at times, plus our school is guilty of a certain rivalry with the band and the football team, so I can't love em too much

...
I'm a wee bit familiar with our big state university's team(UGA), but that's about it...I'll occasionally watch the border bash between us and SC

, but it gets a bit tense

...
Oh, and can't forget the Super Bowl I watch every year...Yep that's my yearly dosage of pro football.

I have to agree that there is nothing quite like seeing a kickoff returned for a touchdown. The run to the end zone may be like catching the snitch...
I am one of the biggest UGA (GO DAWGS) fans in NYC having spent my childhood in Atlanta and Athens and im my school years saw Herschel Walker in action.
And of course the Sugar Bowl those were the good old days..

ok i've added a new player to my favorites list. Cadillac Williams. May he never be injured...
I think he rushed for 120 (something) yards in this last game. Not fantastic, but enough to give us a win! Go Bucs!
Also my love *Joe Jurevicius* is 2 for 2 in touchdowns per game. *grumbles* Even though they only used once, for six yards. But he does get the job done... I was really surprised that the Falcons played so bad. Not that they played bad, but they just seemed...off.
I missed the Dallas Washington game last night. I hear it should have been a blowout. Watching clips i can see why Dallas got an early lead. I dont know why they didn't put more preassure on Bledsoe. He only has 2 domionate receivers. Keyshawn just wasn't getting open and Terry Glenn was doing a good job of splitting the coverage when he could. Though in the end i guess Washington did win...i didn't think Brunell had it in him.

Hehe, my life revolves around football right now. Aside from practices four nights a week and games on Fridays, I work for the Carolina Panthers (who, by the way, are going all the way...just my opinion.

) so I'm bound by law to hate the Bucs.
Actually, I'm from Tampa, FL, originally, where my dad worked for the Bucs...but that was way back, before they could win the Super Bowl and kept losing in the playoffs.
I also hate the Eagles and the Falcons, again by law.

I don't like McNabb, think he's one of the most over rated players in the league; good, but not god. Vick is the same way, in my opinion, though I have more respect for him than many people do. His passing game is getting better, we can tell from that sixty yard pass to Jenkins...brilliant throw.
In college football, I'm a die hard, bred and born Florida State Seminole. As of now, anyone who claims the Florida Gators will be banned.

Kidding. I think.
We're alright this year, breaking in a new quarterback after the much celebrated graduation of Christ Rix, may he never curse another team with his skills again.

You work for the Panthers? thats so awesome! *lol* i will agree (even though im bound by loyalty not to) that Carolina are going to go far this year. Football is life for alot of people, actually i now know why i have no life! im on this site for hours and NFL sunday ticket was the worst idea ever because i just record all the games...*lol*
Well at least im not a gators fun. I was going to go to "The U" though. Decided on Oregon State though. But maybe after last saturdays lost against Louisville i might transfer to University of Oregon (stupid ducks) or to Miami.

Yay, I love this topic! I must say this- (and to anyone who's annoyed by this statement, sorry, can't help it) I love the Philly Eagles!

My favorite player is Brian Dawkins. I personally am annoyed with T.O. (who is my best friend's favorite player) and Donovan McNabb. I shall gladly admit that last year's Superbowl was highly embarrassing. I was distraught by halftime! Hopefully we'll have a better season, though.

Hey now Keepstar, those are my Ducks you're talking about, so watch out. We might have some words when it comes time for the civil war, if we're not careful. lol Though I do agree with you about the whole Terrell Owens and other players not setting examples even in the same country as good for younger players and kids.
Well my favorite College team is the OU Ducks, obviously, but as for Pro. I'm a die hard Denver Broncos fan, through thick and thin, I've never stopped supporting them, not after all the **** they put me through last year. Not after two strait years ending in devastating losses in the first round of the playoffs to the colts, and not after a humiliating loss to Miami in week one. *grumble grumble*
That's awesome QQS, I'd love to get a job somehow involved in with the NFL when I'm done with school, I mean the NFL is practically my whole life. I'd watch every game if my family would let me. Not to mention I love stats and misc info having anything to do with the NFL. If you don't mind me asking, what is it you do for the Panthers?
Now as for my favorite players, Rod Smith, Donavon McNabb, Al Wilson, Payton Manning, I know I have more but my mind went blank. "doh!" My favorite player of all time, however, is John Elway, I know, big surprise.
MOD EDIT : Oopsie, the censors have spotted a cuss word of some kind. Please word your posts more carefully next time alright? Cheers.

What did you say? Just kidding. But seriously, the most over rated player. Did you miss the last 3 NFC Chapionship games. Those were his best game of his life. All I have left to say "4th and 25" (next play) 1st down Eagles. Enough said. I could go into stats but that would just confuse all of you.
I actually had a chance to talk to one of my favorite players last night when I called to donate money, Brian Dawkins. I told him that I played football and he is one of my idols. He was like cool, and since you play football, I'll donate $500. Hes so cool. That was an excellent thing that they did last night and I applaud those of you who donated with me.
Anyway back to Monday nights games. I thought it was soo cool that the Giants let the Saints be the home team at their stadium. I was really rooting for the Saints last night but they played a good game. Joe Horne had a fantisaic game considering what he had to go up against. Santana Moss was on point, catching 2 30+ TD passes in the last 3:36. Amazing. Well I'm done talking about this now.

Actualy Farve did get a ring, in Super Bowl XXXI, then lost in Super Bowl XXXII to John Elway's Broncos, who by the way won Super Bowl XXXIII as well. *Grins*
Yeah I have major respect for Farve, but I do think people give him a bit more credit than he derserves most of the time, and I think this will most likley be his last year. Or at least, it should be IMHO.

Then I also like the Raiders and the Titans.

Sep 24 2005, 11:27 PM
I think Brett Farve WAS an excellent QB. Back in his golden years, he was the best. With age he has become a little slower, less accurate, and not as strong. Don't get me wrong, he is still pretty good, its just time for him to step down this season. Become the coach instead of the player. He has had to deal with a lot in the past few years too. His mother or father died, I don't remember which one, and that had to be difficult for him. I have a lot of respect for the man, but I think that he was done last year.
This coming up week is a big week for me, Eagles vs Raiders, TO vs Randy Moss. That is going to be a great game. I hope my Eagles can come away with a win.

Well the two teams I wanted to win won today, Eagles & Panthers. I was going to be happy either way in the Steelers-Patroits game because I don't like any of them.
Keepstar, Cadillac Williams had a great game today. Right now he is the offensive rookie of the year. He will be great to that franchise if he stays healthy. Sorry Ghost, Green Bay lost. It sucks if one of your top recievers is out for the season though.
For all of you who think that TO and McNabb hate eachother on and off the field, you need to watch the game. They played the same way they did last year. They didn't get into arguements or anything like that. TO may start a lot of crap off the field, but as long as he does what he does on the field, he's ok in my book. Btw, what reciever did TO show up this afternoon....some loser named Randy Moss.
Oh how much I hate Adam Vinitari. He gets so lucky some times. He's good but lucky. I really didn't care who won or lost that game. I don't think either of those teams are going to the super bowl. The Super Bowl teams, I think, are the Eagles and the Panthers. I've always wanted to see those two teams play in a high stakes game.

I read your post and thought you put that down instead of PADFOOT'S avenger. My head was somewhere else when I put that down. OH YEAH!!! Denver over Kansas City 30 - 10, a fantastic game to watch, unless you're a Chiefs fan of course. Defense was superb, offense did well, and we're now leading the AFC West. Not only that but Rod Smith (one of my favorite players) surpassed 10,000 yards receiving for his career. Needless to say, I'm really happy about this.
But there was another game last night, and Tennessee pulled out an amazing victory against LSU. Tennessee wad down by 21 at one point and ended up winning 30 - 27

Well i'll just jump on this thread mid conversation, im good at doing that!

I love american foootball! I'm from England, so there arent generally a lot of english fans, but i love the game, and i wish there was more made of it over here. I Kinda follow the Phillidelphia Eagles, basically because i picked them once in a madden nfl game, and kept with them ever since! It was a bit of a shame to see them finally get to the superbowl last season, and then to go down to the Patriots, but still, that was a great game. I love the way it seems a lot closer than football(soccer to you guys) in that everyone has just as much money to spend with the salary cap, and there's a lot more competition between the teams, which makes it a lot better i think.
Hope there's more games like last years superbowl this season.

Those two games last night were awesome. I mostly watched the LSU game because it was closer. I was kinda pulling for LSU given the circumstances that they are in. Great game thought. There is nothing to complain about when you lose to Tenn. in OT.
The Denver-KC game was a lot different than I thought it would be. I thought that with KC's rushing would dominate but it didn't. I didn't watch the whole game so I don't know any of the stats.

Are you Ready For Some Football? Its saturday, college game day. My second favorite day of the week. though i have a horrible headache and feel sick imm try to cheer on. Well i hope the Illini win. Silly hawkeyes...*lol* Not to mention i used to hang out with on of the illini's linemen in highschool... Go James!
Beavers are playing Washington, we need a win.... grrr.... we will win. Washington is weak right now. And i'm praying to the Football gods that The Ducks lose to Stanford. University is a strong team, but its hard to get an offense going in that stadium. The ducks are a heavily crowd influenced team, if there is noone there... how will they do. Well Kellen Clemens is as good as ever, hoping he loses some confidence before civil war....
I need Seahawks to win tomorrow. More importantly for Joe Jurevicius to get a TD. He's only got one on the season, though with Shaun Alexander can you really expect anything else? Also praying to the football gods my dear Cadillac Williams stays strong...*bites nails* he's brought hope to buc fans across the country.
Sorry im venting... i got in a fight last night with a kid who said girls dont know anything about football. It happens all the time to me... quite frustrating actually

Just because i didn't play in high school and stuff, doesn't mean im stupid. I love this game, with all my heart. I hope people like that realize someday that girls can love football too.

Eagles won and the Pat's lost. The greatest moments of my sunday.
I was a little worried about the Eagles after te first half was over. KC was up 17-0. Then the second half, TO and McNabb turned it up and scored 28 unanswered points. Brian Dawkins and the defense was outstanding in the second half. I know Brian told his defense that they weren't going to score the next half and it worked for about 36 minuets. GO Eagles.
Poor Farve, he lost again. The guy needs to retire. Carolina was playing very good though. I think that they'll go to the NFC Championship game and lose to the Eagles but that would be a close game.
Last night's football was rather boring.

I know I said it. I was the 49er's vs. Card's not a good game for me. Although, I did see that Zona's new QB did pretty good, 347 and 1 INT thats not bad. I was watching wrestling because all the good REAL wrestlers came back. The ones that were there when I used to watch it.

I was sad to see him leave Tampa but I thought it might be a good move for him. He was underrated and under utilized here and I thought a new team might make better use of his skills. It sounds like he is getting the same treatment in Seattle as he did in Tampa. Quarterbacks always have their favorite receivers and Joe seems to never be a favorite.

Yes, my poor joe. QB's are like that. I think thats why when they do use him its in the red zone. He has the speed and reach to get those td's. He only had one reception in the first game but it was a six yard touchdown pass, he just gets into the spaces that the defense leaves open.
Not to mention he doesnt showboat, which is why i respect him soo much. He's in the fourth receiver spot there, which he was in tampa too. I think coaches are afraid to mve him because he is so exective inthe spot he plays. He doesn't try to make the catch look harder/ more impressive how some receivers do. Its just catch, secure the ball, and run. Basic, proper, technique. He gets the job done.
Not to mention he is gorgeous... i do love the man. Too bad he is married *lol*

Week 5: Martzel's Outrageous Prediction of the Week!| QUOTE |
| This week was easy. Prediction: San Francisco 49ers-84, Indianapolis Colts-0. Old Boy Julian Peterson will knock out Peyton Manning, who for some reason is returning the opnening kickoff. Jim Sorgi will be handed the keys to the Colts' proverbial Lamborghini, and will forget to remove the parking brake. The offense will stall, and due to many turnovers and consecutive three and outs, the Niners will score every one of their points in the first quarter. How you may ask? And I have the answer....an obvious one of course. My favorite NFL player of all time, the most heralded and famous one of all, big name guy out of a big name school, will come to the resuce like he always has. The pride of the Sacramento State Hornets, 5'10", 197 lbs. #18, Otis Amey will catch 12 passes for 734 yards, and 12 touchdowns. Unfortuantely for Amey, who will miss breaking his own record of # of touchdowns scored in a single quarter by 2, the game will be called at the end of the first period. Tony Dungy, head coach of the Colts, will be so enraged and embarrassed by this display of pure athleticism by the future Hall of Famer Amey, will walk off the field to the sound of 70,207 fans in the newly renamed "Monster Park" fromerly known as Candlestick Park, chanting "AMEY, AMEY, AMEY". I have to admint that I am sorry for this week's prediction, I know that it isn't truly outrageous, just becuase it was too easy to see all of this coming. Well, till next time...so long. |
Hope you guys enjoy it as msuh as i did.
P.S. Joe knows i hate Peyton Manning. Which i guess has something to do with this, but maybe not. Anyway he started chanting J-E-T-S JETS JETS JETS at me last night. So he is in big trouble, thats you the Bucs are going to slaughter this week.

Rams Jurevicius is starting now that Engram has cracked three ribs. *sigh* Here's my problem, on sportsline they have Joe as a ...Vetren... A Vetren? Testeverde is a Vetren, Jerry rice is a Vetren..He's 30 years old! They're is a difference between underrated and old.
Tampa Bay vs.
Jets Cadillac is questionable....*sigh* good ol Pittman better step up. Also CLayton is probable it think... he needs to step up to. Griese needs to figure out how to run an option, and relalize that throwing into double coverage usually results in a interception. He had three last game i beleive...Our saving grace? our Number 1 ranked Defense. Blitz immobile Testeverde all game long. The Jets 0-line will crumble like a crumb cake. They can't protect worth a who-ha, or open the slots for Curtis Martin to run through. I'm predicting 5-0 after today
Bearsvs.
Cleveland First off, its a good thing Kyle Orton is a rookie, because he is playing like one. Chicago never gets a break do they? Sexy Rexy is out... out... out. Same with Joe Odom and Mike Brown. Thank the football gods for Thomas Jones... but what is this? he'll be losing yards to... Benson? *sigh*At least it will be an evenly matched game.
*************
Randy Moss better be thanking the football gods that he has Kerry Collins. Not to mention an 0-line that give decent pass protection. Thats the things with most wide receivers... they're all about the glory. Never looking at the path it takes to get them the ball. Could you picture Moss being the player he is if say he played for... lets see...the Texans? Don't get me wrong... Moss is good. After he brings the ball down... he can burn most defensive secondaries.
Vick is good, Vick will always be good. He's an athlete... plain and simple. i respect him... alot. Too bad he's not playing this week. the Pats might be getting a lucky beak...

Hiya keepstar, I'm back... for a little while. I missed talking football with a girl. Its different than taking about it to guys than girls, no affense.
I am only going to briefly talk about the USC-Notre Dame game. That was AMAZING. I wanted N.D. to win but they lost to the better team. I thought that N.D. did a great job in the secondary. Lienhart only completed like 16 passes and thats good. USC adverages like 600+ yards a game I think and they only had like 400. Reggie Bush couldn't be stopped. The linebackers and safetys weren't getting to him. I was so mad that they didn't focus on stopping Bush in the second half. It was probably the best college football game I have seen in like 10 years. Props to both teams!

Hiya secret? hows the head? i hope Italy is/was fun! I dont take offense at all... talking with guys and girls is totally different. all i ask for is respect
The ND/ USC game was awesome. it went down to the wire. There calling it one of the best college football games ever.
Oh yeah, GO BEAVERS! GOOD JOB IN THE CAL GAME!!Back to business. The game was awesome. Matt was off, but they are a second half team. ND's defense did alot about his passing game... and Reggie Bush is Reggie Bush. I'm beginning to think noone can stop him. Really noone. That guy is a player. Pure athleticism, he's almost awe inspiring to watch.
You know who i like though... Jeff Samardzija. The "great white" receiver. Oh my, hes good. The catches he makes and the decisions after the catch. I just really like him. I think it's my weakness for white wide receivers.
Is anyone else glad that LSU won? i really like them this year, not to mention how hard it must be for them...
Ok im on my laptop going to seattle to watch the love of my life play... joe jurevicius! Did anyone else watch him last week? amazing! So im going to watch him today.
Oh and the bucs lost. in case anyone missed that. 4-1. To the Jets *sigh* its embaressing. But theyre killing Miami and *cough* ricky williams right now. And Who ho Simms is playing. Greise sprained his knee. How can a QB throw more interecptions than TD's? Well im off. Happy gameday all!

Uh, the Redskins just lost to the Cheifs by a TD. The worst part is we outplayed them on both sides, but beat ourselves by dropping the ball 3 times!

I was just watching the ND-USC game again, and a funny thing that I realized was when that offensive linemen got injured, the two trainers helped him up and when he did get up he told the trainers to stop and he pumped up the crowd. I thought that was very funny. Yes, Jeff did have a good game. He was their only go to guy on offense for ND.
I am soo happy that NE is loosing and will most likely lose to Denver. I don't think that they are going to win it all this year again. My beloved Eagles don't play this week, time for McNabb to heal up a little bit.
I haven't been watching much football today because I have a lot of time to make up with my girlfriend so thats all I'm going to stay for now.

Well I am just glad that the chargers beat the raiders. I am a raider hater as most people are who live in san diego. I dont live in san diego but i used to.
Any way Ladanian Tomlinson Ran all over the raiders today and just dominated. Its funny because he was the first RB since 2001 to run for a TD,Catch for a TD, and throw a touchdown. I love the trickery that Marty Schottenhiemer is doing down in san diego.I have always been a charger fan and I always Wiil be a fan so dont think I like em because they just won.
GO CHARGERS!!!!!!!!!!!!
