well even though he's my brother i disagree and seeing as he thinks that i don't know anything about football i'm glad to disagree!
X-Girl
Whooo pre-season's started! Only seen part of two games, last I looked Giants were beating Jets. Drat the teams I cheer for never win. ohmy.gif I missed football this summer I realized as I watched it today.
Ladie Lily Potter
Aha I totally do not understand American football at all and I've been living here for nearly seven years. It just doesn't interest me ... I don't know why. I like English football or ... soccer.
fany_monkey
ahhh back on this lovely thread where i spent lots of time before *sigh* yeah well i didn't get a chance to see the first game of the season *mutters angrily about school and not having cable* does anyone care to fill me in? *makes puppy dog face*

Ladie Lily Potter don't feel bad there are people who have lived in the states all their lives and still don't understand football! so after you watch it a while you start learning! it's still one of the best sports around!
HJP/HJG_TrueLove
in an actuallity i prefer collegiate football im currently watching my huskers take on WF ha but NFL football still rocks im a big supporter of the colts (I have never been a bandwagon supporter ive supported the colts for a long time) mainly because of Marvin Harrison who is not only amazing but also extremely humble but i supported the colts before they acquired Harrison but ha back to collegiate football did anyone see that game between michigan and appalichian state ha amazing 2nd best upset in history behing the national championship game with the huskers and miama where the huskers lost by 1.
bookworm101
WHOOOOO!! Did you guys even SEE the Steeler game today? Yeah 34-7!!!! They are so going to the Super Bowl this year! Mike Thomlin is so much better than Cowher!

But even though I love the Steelers thats probably because I live in Pittsburgh, so its like my hometown, you gotta love your hometown team. But really my favorite team is the Colts. I LOVE the Colts! They are an EXCELLENT team and I love Manning and Addai and Harrison. Plus the game on Thursday was 41-10! FOURTY ONE!!!!!! And the whole Super Bowl....ahh football. I might be a girl but I still love it.

Wow! I can't believe I haven't noticed this thread until now!!! I am so excited for football season. I am from Baton Rouge... so naturally I am a HUGE LSU Tiger fan. They are 2-0 now. After they thrashed VA Tech (48-7) last night!! I was at the game, of course, and it was played to perfection. The defense, Led by DT Glen Dorsey, showed why we are ranked #2 (hopefully #1 by Monday), and the offense ran all over VA Tech, showing our offensive prowess rivals even our defensive prowess. So, anyway, we play Middle Tennesse State next week, should be a push-over, and I will update after every game.

On to the NFL, being from Louisiana, I am also a New Orleans Saints fan. We did not look to good vs. the Colts thursday...losing 41-10...but thats ok, its a long season, and everyone around here is excited for the season. Reggie Bush should hopefully show that he is the real deal in the NFL this year!

So, do any of you guys play fantasy football? I started last year, and I really like it. Well, I'll post again later...
HJP/HJG_TrueLove
hey guys did you see the bills game poor guy i really hopre he makes it and goes on without paralysis thats just awful

michigan lost again which i find deeply amusing and NEBRASKA PULLED IT OFF!!!! and they moved up to in the polls yes but theyll probably lost to USC its a pretty much guranteed that the huskers will lose but they will be awesome I may be a girl but i love football and collegiate sports video games (thanks to my brothers)

GO BIG RED!

PS I like Fantasy football as well here is my favorite team that I picked roster

Carson palmer QB-Cin
Jon Kitna QB-Det

Marvin Harrison WR-Ind
Reggie Wayne WR-Ind
(I know probably not the best idea to get 2 colt receivers but I couldn’t resist)

Ladaniean Tomlinson RB-SD
Travis Henry RB-Den

Todd Heap TE-Bal

Hines Ward W/T-Pitt
Lavernueus Coles W/T-NYJ

Cedric Benson W/R-Chi
Mark Clayton W/R Bal

Bench
Jay Cutler QB-Den

Devery Henderson-WR-NO
Issac Bruce WR-Stl

DeAngelo Williams RB-Car
Marion Barber RB-Dal

L.J. Smith TE-Phi

Nate Kaeding K SD
Olindo Mare K NO

DEF
NE
Denver

Defensive players
Ray Lewis
Adam Carriker
Daniel Bullocks
(Bullocks and Carriker are x-huskers)
lancelot243
Nice, you got LT. I got him too! first overall pick (of course) I also have Marvin Harrison, Reggie Bush, Lee Evans, Matt Hasselback, Jags D, David Akers, and Jeremy Shockey.

My bench is Vince Young, Deuce Mcallister, Braylon Edwards, Ladell Betts, Calvin Johnson, Fred Taylor, Rex Grossman(my worst player...), and Lendale White

MAN!!! LSU missed being #1 by 39 points!!! So close!! Oh well, we just have to keep winning...

GO TIGERS!!!
lancelot243
Just an update...

The LSU Tigers played Middle Tennessee State yesterday. Unsurprisingly, The Tigers steamrolled to a 44-0 victory. Perhaps more importantly is that the normal QB Matt Flynn was out with a knee injury. I am not sure how serious, but back-up Ryan Perrilioux played well in his absense, but hopefully Flynn will be back next week. Well, that is it, and I am watching the Saints game right now...

P.S. LSU vs. South Carolina...Saturday, September 22, in Death Valley
HJP/HJG_TrueLove
well the huskers got dominated by USC 49-31 which I expected, but it didnt make it any easier on me. my only comfort was that maurice purify is back on form and keller looked good but the defense was terrible and our #1 back (the leading rusher going in to week 2 might i add) marlon lucky was stuffed over and over but glen looked good. it was pretty cool having college gameday in lincoln though and being called the best fans in college football which in my possibly biased opinion nebraska undeniably is. we just need our 90s dynasty back. During the game they pointed out that the huskers dynasty of the 90s in five of those years had very similar numbers to the trojans over the last five years, but i believe the huskers will regain their mettle and show the world the are for real.

oh and by the way lancelot243 i think LSU deserves the number one ranking as well (and im truly not just saying that because USC just knockedf off my huskers i was shocked when they didnt start of as a preseason #1)
lancelot243
Yea... MAN I was hoping for Nebraska to knock off USC! I left the LSU game at half because we were up 23-0 to watch the USC game. When I left it was 10-7 Nebraska. By the time I got home it was 21-10, and it didn't get much better after that...

Anyway, why did they do College Gameday inside the stadium? While I was watching it I was thinking that was kinda wiers. When they came to LSU they were outside on the prade grounds. I also thought it was very classy the the Husker fans were respectful after the story about the USC kicker who died. I was worried y'all were going to boo.

P.S. the fans in Baton Rouge cannot be beat. I know alot of people say that about their team, but, come on, we caused an earthquake once! No one else can say that. I have never been anywhere in the country with so many people tailgating the night before the game. Anyway, in my biased opinion, it's not even close... LSU fans are by far the best!

GO TIGERS!!!!!!!!!
After the Burial
I am curious what American football fans think about the Patriots and their use of cameras?

If the Patriots are really America's team, shouldn't they be allowed to spy on other teams under the Patriot Act?

And the college games this weekend were vastly disappointing. I didn't watch a single good game.
lancelot243

HAHA!! That is hilarious...I am seriously rolling on the ground laughing!

But, the Dallas Cowboys are America's team, not the Pats. Also, I can't believe they did that!! I mean, they were just getting the other teams audibles or something. I mean, come on, does that really help that much? Even John Madden was saying he didn't think that would help much anyway. I think that Bill Belichik is handling this pretty well. I mean, he is just ignoring it, which I guess is what he should do... sucks that he is losing his first round pick. I guess that's what happens when you get caught cheating...
#chochang#
Well, I'm not a fan or something of American football. But I do like soccer. I support Germany in the international front and Manchester United in the EPL. Well, i wish someone would start a thread for soccer.
fany_monkey
aghhhhhhh my broncos are doing great! oh gosh in their last game against the raiders i thought it was s funny how shanahan called a time out right when the raiders had made the field goal tongue.gif so funny! i might not be a big cutler fan but i guess he's improving tongue.gif

i'm sorry if i'm interrupting a conversation it's just i don't get to talk about football much! it's annoying that i don't even get to watch most of the games because i don't have cable and they only pass a few here in mexico! pfff

college ball i hardly ever get to watch anymore! i use to be a bruins fan aand i think they aren't doing so bad ermm let's see last i heard the were 2-1 so yeah i gotta catch up on my college ball tongue.gif
lancelot243
I am really upset... The Saints are SUCKING! I mean, they only lost one guy from last year. I mean, Joe Horn was good for the team spirit, but he was hurt half the year anyway!! I don't know what is going on with them!! God, this is disapointing.

Well atleast LSU is doing well...South Carolina on Saturday!! I can't wait, and I hate Steve Spurrier!! So it will be fun to beat him *knock on wood*

Oh yeah, did you guys hear what Ladanian Tomlinson said about the Patriots thing... He said: "Well, i guess the Patriots go by the philosophy that if ya ain't cheatin' ya ain't tryin'" I thought that was funny, but also, LT is a baby. He is still upset about last years conference championship game, and it is showing in his weak performance so far this year...

HJP/HJG_TrueLove
well even if in your opinion you think LSUs fans are the best you cant deny that the Huskers have some great fans 283 sellouts in a row which dates back to 1962 no one in college football can say that! 2nd for sellouts is notre dame with 195 so the huskers are in good shape! we have the two top spots for college game day attendence at that last usc game and a game against notre dame. and we have a decent dynasty with the best home record since 1990 with a record of 103-11.

onto the patriots thing thats terrible and who knows how long its been going on! since there first superbowl run since hiring coach belichick! my personal opinion is that for punishment they should have made coach belichick wear suits and ties on game day since he always wears those sleveless shirts ha that would be priceless!

but i think the worst thing in professional football as of now is the kevin everett ordeal they say he will walk but its still terrible and imagine all the players getting up for the neay with that fresh in there minds it is just terrible!

but on a happier note the husker rookies have dabbed there hands in real pro football and they arent doing bad

brandon jacksons stats 32 rushes 75 yards, 8 receptions 59 yards 0 tds but that will change

stewart bradley 2 solo tackles 1 assisted

adam carriker 2 solo tackles 1 assisted

im having trouble getting info on more husker rookies like moore and herian

the husker rookies arent doing great but they couldnt be doing a heck of a lot worse!
HJP/HJG_TrueLove
im in agony right now the huskers are in the 4th quarter and they are losing to BALL STATE!!! if the Huskers lose I will probably bawl and i wouldnt be bale to watch lettermen for a couple days becuase Lettermen would brag about it or make jokes because he is from Indiana! and Lettermen is my favorite show!!

biggrin.gif biggrin.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif

THE HUSKERS WON THEY PULLED IT OF BY ONE!!! I can watch Lettermen(probably the most famous Ball State Alumini) IM SO HAPPY!!!!!!!!
lancelot243
LSU cruised to a victory yesterday 28-16. South Carolina came in ranked #12, and having won 5 games in a ro, from last year to now) I really thought it was going to be a tough game. It was pouring through most of the game, which was a rare day game for the Tigers, and I got soaked, but it was awesome. We did not throw the ball very well (77 yards 1 TD 1 INT) but we ran all over them (335 yards 3 TDs). Also, LSU had the #1 play on ESPN with the fake field goal. It was INCREDIBLE!! Anyway, I can't believe Nebraska almost lost to Ball State. That was a really sloppy game defensively by the Huskers, but they pulled it out eventually.

Well the Saints play tomorrow on MNF, home opener vs. the Titans, hopefully they can turn it around...

LSU plays Tulane Saturday at the Dome in N.O. at 11 A.M. What a bad time... anyway, it should be a push-over, as LSU will try not to show to much with Tim Tebow and co. coming to Death Valley on OCT. 6.

P.S. I think Bear Bryant sums up the esperince for visitors coming to Baton Rouge... "Saturday night in Death Valley is the worst; it's like being inside a drum" - Paul "Bear" Bryant
HJP/HJG_TrueLove
well you probably dont need reminding but the huskers lost there amazing defensive cordinator bo pelini to LSU but your right the huskers gave up like 610 yards but i will say that ball state has one of divison ones best quaterbacks

did you see they are calling it the lost that wasnt

thats really sad sad.gif
lancelot243
Yes, LSU was very lucky to get Bo Pelini. He is a genious on D.

MAN!! What a week of college football! I can't say I was surprised that Texas lost, I mean they have been barely hanging on the whole year. But, come on! Oklahoma lost! I was sure they would be undefeated... AND Florida!! That was awesome, I was laughing through the whole fourth quarter biggrin.gif it was awesome! West Virginia has always sucked, and they lost to USF, I really don't think it was an upset, Steve Slaton is so overrated.

Anyway... LSU had a little scare vs Tulane at first, but we ended up creaming them (34-9) i think...lol. Now we play Florida...DUN DUN DUN... should be unbelievable. Granted it is not as big since they lost to Auburn, but still going to be AWESOME!!

P.S. The AP poll has LSU ranked #1 this week!! I'm sure the coaches will still have USC at the top spot, but we are creeping up there...
Polandbaby16
Yes yes yes!!!!!!!!!

since 1995 (i was 5) i was a fan of the Green Bay Packers!!!!!!!! and look at them 4-0 can you believe it???? its like a cinderela story!!!! Farve will lead GB to the superbowl and win it and then he will retire and be a football ledgend, not that he isnt already but yea wooo hooo im so happy!!! biggrin.gif
lancelot243
...Florida/LSU tomorrow! It is going to be unbelievable!! I have a game at 10:30 in the morning, so I will not be able to go to the game until about 2...the game kicks off at 7:30 p.m. So I will still make the game 'Whew'. Well it should be awesome!!

P.S. Somehow Tim Tebow's cell phone number leaked out, and I got it...lol
After the Burial
Before the game is played, I am supposed to let everyone know (by his request) that my brother is predicting that the Cleveland Browns will beat the Patriots tomorrow. We are Browns fans, but that seems like a bold prediction. (It is bold because he bet $50 on it.)
lancelot243
There is no way the Browns will win, the patriots are ridiculous...

OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That LSU game was the best game I have EVER been too!! I don't think I have ever had more fun in my life!

The game started out with Florida getting a field goal, then a Matt Flyn interception put the Gators up 10-0. The Tigers scored next to make it 10-7. BUt the Gators answere right back to make it 17-7. After a missed field goal by LSU wrapped up the first half, LSU came out and scored to make it 17-14. At about that time the annoucer told us the USC-Stanford score (24-23 Stanford) The croud wen absolutely NUTS! The team was going crazy, the coaches went crazy, the fans went ballistic. It was unbelievable! Tebow silenced us pretty quick with a passing TD to make it 24-14. Lsu then missed another field goal. However, we picked off a pass that led to a fourth down TD to make it 24-21. On the next drive we had a huge defensive stand...24-21 LSU's ball on Florida's 40 with 9 minutes left. LSU drives down the field, including two fourth down conversions by HB Jacob Hester (one of them from the six yard line) led to a three yard third down rushing TD by Hester with 1:09 left in the game to make it 28-24 LSU. It was amazing!! The decibal rating after the TD was 151 deibals, I have been told. OUr stadium holds 92,400 people. We broke our attendance record with 92,900 fans at the game...

there is nothing, nothing like SATURDAY NIGHT IN TIGER STADIUM
deatheater13
Haha, can you believe the Rams lost yesterday? YES!! That stinks for them! I'm a 49ers fan, so I love to watch the Rams lose!

I haven't been watching much college this year. lancelot243, that sounds awesome. I love close games like that. Must have been nerve wrecking though...
HJP/HJG_TrueLove
well ive been kinda avoiding this thread because well if you havent noticed the Huskers arent doing so well we dropped the last 4 but today for the first time this month we showed some life we lost 28-25 to the Longhorns. The Huskers losing 4 games in a row hasnt happened since 1961 and losing all of our games in October hasnt occured since the 40's. The last 4 games have gone like so

October 6th against Missouri L 41-6

October 13th Oklahoma State L 45-14 (people were leaving before the 2nd quarter)

October 20th Texas A&M L 36-14 (my dad and I went and we moved down from row 61 to 39)

October 27th Texas L 25-28 the huskers could have pulled this one out we had the lead going into the 2nd half and i blame it on my mom as soon as she woke up the Longhorns scored there 2nd field goal and after she came in and watched the Longhorns steamroll us and at the end Keller got hurt (it doesnt look very good) and ganz threw one to purify but we still lost

if you didnt hear we have osbourne back as our interim athletic director, i am so glad peterson is gone the only good thing he has done is hire doc sadler as basketball coach. we've had some injury problems bo rudd (in my opinion our most over-rated player), keller just today, murtha an offesensive lineman is out for the rest of the seasonb with a toe injury, blake lawrence, and brett byford were questionable and i think out of rudd, lawrence, and byford only byford played but im not sure. i remember at the texas A&M game 3 linebackers were hurt in the first 5 minutes including rudd and lawrence.

next week doesnt look so bright for the huskers were facing kansas we will just have to see what happenes as of right now im more anxious for the off-season so we can get rid of callahan (who says he is doing an excellent job in every area) and cosgrove and out offensive coordinator to and (sorry lance) maybe bring back Bo Pelini as head coach/defensive coordinator and Turner Gill as offensive coordinator those are my hopes at least
Shadeslayer
Haha even though they suck I LOVE the Bengals. I live in Cincinnati and I'd be thrown in the dumpster if I walked around with a Steelers jersey. Chad Johnson is the stuff!

Well, even though the Bengals and Reds suck in Cincy, thats what college football is for. GO BUCKEYES! #1 in the nation!
HJP/HJG_TrueLove
hey lance i havent seen you around in ages but im sure you have seen all the stuff about pelini beingthe huskers new coach! i heard lsu was very upset with him the way his defense played against arkansas, thats what the huskers have been doing all season, and plus arkansas has the best running back in the country along with another rb who could start at any other school i saw the overtime ending, it was a very exciting game

but whatever i wish lsu luck in the bcs national chammpionship, id much rather they win than ohio state *gag* do wou guys haver any word as to if pelini will coach in the national championship? i think in the end he will but only time will tell, i do hope you see this or else i wasted quite a bit of time i am a slow typer
lancelot243
Hi! Sorry I haven't posted in a while, just been busy. Well, first I have to say that I am extremely proud of the whole LSU team for making the BCS championship. But to say that we didn't get lucky would be a downright lie. We got extremely lucky to be here and I really think we will make the best of it. LSU now has a whole month to rest beofre the game, we can get healthy, get ready, and I think we are the better team.

Now to the coaching staff... As I am sure you have heard from ESPN, Les Miles is staying, thankfully, and so is the offensive coordinator Crowton. Pelini is leaving to be the head coach at Nebraska. From all the reports I have heard, though I can not confirm this is true, he will coach LSU in the national championship. I think he is pretty good, he doesn't blits enough, but he is solid, it will be interesting to see how he does as a head coach in Nebraska.

Well, with that said, who do you guys think will win the heisman? My vote is for Superman, I mean Tim Tebow.
Nasuada
I love football! I almost never miss a game on t.v.! My team is the New England Patriots! My favorite player is Randy Moss! Yeah!!!!!
lancelot243
NATIONAL CHAMPS BABY!!!!!!!!!!! Congratulations to Les Miles and every member of the 2007 LSU BCS National Champion Football team!! It has been a crazy season for college football. I would say the strangest that anyone has ever seen. Many teams had their chances, but LSU pulled it out in the end. What a great way to finish an outstanding season!! I can't wait until next year, I hope we can do it again. (but my pick is Georgia shutup.gif )

GO TIGERS!!!!!!
HJP/HJG_TrueLove
i was rooting for lsu in the national championship too thank god they won i hate ohio state!

but now all i have got to say is GO GIANTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

if you cant tell i hate the patriots and i really dont want them to go undefeated!!!! and giants are doing a decent job hanging in there 3-7 patriots with a half still to go! ive actually got a bet on the giants so lets hope they win!
amv_hearts_hp
Go Pats go!! I'm watching from the computer, I just had to post... woohoo! Keep holding on!

I have been a Pats fan since Tom Brady got there... I am a huge U of M fan, so that's where that loyalty comes from... it would be incredible for them to go undefeated.

And then... thank goodness Ohio State didn't win the BCS! Go Blue!

Hugs,
Anna
HJP/HJG_TrueLove
YES THE GIANTS WON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I would have hated it if the patriots went undfeated and no disrespect to the fans here but half of the patriot faithful have just been riding the bandwagon!!!

way to go giants you guys played incredible especially the defense!!

and by the way did you see david tyree? that was probably the best catch i have seen in my entire life when he leaped up caught it and pressed it to his helmet with one hand and held on when he hit the ground that was truly amazing!
Ima_LoOnYLoVeGoOd
THIS GAME WAS ABSOLUTELY CRAZY!!!! I cannot believe the Giants won!!!! It is so awesome!! The underdog team, beat the undefeated team!!! It has made history!! This will be one of the most remembered Super Bowl in all of the Super Bowls to come!!

This will and is the biggest upset in the history of football!! It has made and broken history!

The team that was undefeated, almost had a perfect season, that was destined to win the Super Bowl and make history got beaten out by the team that was the underdogs for almost the whole season! It is crazy and unreal! And in the last 59 seconds the Giants pulled ahead ! That catch was amazing!

I think it is also funny how Eli Manning's team won and he got MVP this year and the same happened to Peyton Manning's last year!!! The brothers won two years in a row!!

GO GIANTS!!!!!!!!!!!!! YOU ROCK!!!

biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif
HJP/HJG_TrueLove
i have no idea how he made that catch that had interception writen all over it, and how in the world did eli avoid the sack truly incredible

what i didnt like was how they put major emphasis on the manning brother thing

i am just so glad the patriots lost yeah if you guessed it im a colts fan

WAY TO GO GIANTS!!!
Nasuada
I was so excited that the Giants won! They so deserved it! I mean, nobody thought they were even going to make it to the superbowl! Everyone thought the Pats and Packers. I couldn't believe the last 50 something seconds! I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. I was so happy when they won! The Patriots are really good, but there is something about the Giants' defence that the Patriots can't fight. I like the Patriots, but I'm really glad the Giants won! biggrin.gif It really bugged me when Belichick walked off the field before the last play. dry.gif Bad sportsmanship I say. Great job GIANTS!
UnknownLocket
I am soo soo estatic about the Giants winning the superbowl! It's just so amazing having the underdogs deafeting a team that was undefeated. Everyone where I live was all for the Patriots and when they lost, it was just the most awesome feeling to me. I won bragging rights because of that win. My friend said that they had no chance and I was delusional to believe that Brady couldn't lead his team to a victory. And when the Patriots were up14-10, he was acting all smug because he figured that the giants wouldn't get a touchdown in the last two minutes. But hey, miracles happen. biggrin.gif
lancelot243
I am reasonably happy that the Giants pulled this one out, I am kind of on the fence about it though. I mean, if the Patriots could have just pulled it out, we could finally stop hearing Mercury Morris crying about how much better the '72 Dolphins were...
amv_hearts_hp
Okay, so I posted saying "Go Pats!" about a minute before the Giants made the winning touchdown. Ah, well. It would have been great for a perfect season. Well... there's always next year. tongue.gif

It was a great game- and good for the Giants. I really don't like Peyton, but Eli is a pretty cool guy... so congrats to the Giants, even though I'm disappointed.

Now I'm just waiting for March Madness as the next big sports event for me!

Hugs,
Anna
X-Girl
I only got to watch a couple minutes of the Super Bowl because I was in China. sad.gif I didn't really care who won, I don't really like either team very much. I was hoping for the Packers or Cowboys lol. My teams always lose, if they even get in to the Super Bowl.
Lily_Potter
My favorite team, the Dolphins, have not made it anywhere near the playoffs in quite a while so I know how you feel X-Girl.

This year's superbowl was a very exciting one. I always go for the underdog, so I was rooting for the Giants and it looked a little bleak there in the beginning, but that last quarter was incredible. I can't believe Eli pulled it off! It's Nature vs. Nurture guys, Eli's got that Manning blood in him. They don't go down without putting up a fight!
HJP/HJG_TrueLove
Well I probably just came here to post because im so anxious for the college football season to start and maybe my Huskers will redeem themselves a bit. Basically from the reports I head from friends and family who went to the Red-White game it is decided that the Huskers are still pretty much terrible. We have some future draft talent though I think Suh who is a Husker Defensive Linemen will be first rounder after his senior season (he is a junior), Joey Ganz showed he was pretty good in the games he got to play, Marlin Lucky will be good if he can break some more tackles and not go down so easily. Cody Glenn who used to be a half-back has been switched to linebacker and apparently he is pretty much good at that position and he is causing turnovers left and right.

Im anxious to see what defensive coordinator turned head coach Bo Pelini can do with the Huskers im not expecting a miracle you know just improvement from last years dismal performance. My family gets sports illustrated and an edition we got about a month ago had a story about the Husker Football Program called Nebraska Lost, Nebraska Found. Here is a little excerpt from it: After a great tradition was ruined in four years, the Cornhuskers reached out to Tom Osbourne to restore character and dignity to the program. A new coach and more homegrown players will take care of the winning.

and here is a quote by Bo Pelini "I dont think you can overstate how much people in this state care about the team's success."

Another excerpt: In Nebraska there is a reverence for the humble Osbourne bordering on the religious. In Tom They Trust.

I just really liked the article if you cant tell

Oh and by the way 3 husker players got drafted into the NFL

Zach Bowman CB 5th Round- Bears
Carl Nicks C 5th Round- Saints
Bo Rudd OLB 6th Round- Patriots

This is really sad because Nicks was projected to be a 1-3 rounder
Before BowmanB hurt his knees he was supposed to be a first rounder
And in my opinion Bo Rudd is terribly overrated sure he had a timely pick for us but the only thing I see Rudd do on a consistent basis is jump on top of the pile after the tackle has been made and get credit not only in the stat book but also by the commentators. Basically the name Rudd is as good as being a saint in Nebraska because of the good Rudds we had before like Barrett who is usually somewhere near the top of the NFL in number of tackles and a father and uncle.

Husker Free Agent signees include
Frantz Hardy WR- Eagles
Steve Octavien MLB-Chiefs
Lance Brandenburg OLB-49ers
Courtney Grixby CB- Panthers

This comes as a suprise because Octavien was easily our best defensive player last year and Brandenburg was our 4th linebacker on the depth chart (both were better than Rudd in my opinion), and Frantz Hardy is realy fast but I didnt expect him to go anywhere. Grixby has a really good vertical and is fast but he is kinda short so its kinda a suprise.

And 3 Huskers are going to minicamp unsigned
Maurice Purify WR is going to the Bengals mc
Tierre Green SS (cousin of Ahman Green)- Green Bay mc
Corey Mckeon OLB - Bucs mc

This is a suprise because Maurice Purify has early round talent he is about 6'4"-5" and cant be knocked down easily. He has better hands than anyone on the team and he is very fast. The only reason he didnt get drafted was probably from 2 problems with the law but he was our offensive MVP. But other than that it looks pretty normal.

And Sam Keller QB is floating around he has gotten tried out by multiple teams but I cant find anything definite but he had a good freshmen season until a broken finger on his throwing hand ruined his season. And he had a good season with the Huskers until breaking his collarbone.

So yeah that is all I cant believe I just looked all that up and typed it considering im probably the only Husker fan here.

Okay, I've only skimmed through this thread but I'm already seeing a lack of fans for my team. But first I wanted to say that I too am very happy about the Giants winning the superbowl over the Pats. However it's come time to reveal my true colors as a fan of the......

......Buffalo Bills

Haha, I can hear the laughs already. But since I live only an hour away, I've got to stay loyal to my home base. And besides, if you ever can't get a hold of the team that's best a finishing number 1 in the league...you could always come support the team that's best at finishing number 2 sad.gif....wink.gif

My two favorite NFL teams are the Chiefs and the Cowboys. I live near the Chiefs, so I basically have to like them (kidding!). In College I absolutely love the Jayhawks!!!!!! I also like Tennessee, and Michigan.

I believe the Kansas City Chiefs are the closest professional football franchise to where I live. I don't exactly support them but I hope they do kinda well because I love Glenn Dorsey and I am pretty sure he went to the Chiefs but I am not sure about that. I am a huge Colts fan (no I am not just on the bandwagon) and that goes hand in hand with my huge hatred of the Patriots. In NCAA football (if you haven't realized laugh.gif ) I laugh.gif am a huge fan of the Huskers because I live in Nebraska and I have grown up watching them.

I'm 100% patriots fan. But I'm not crazy into statistics or anything. And no, I don't think Tom Brady is hot so don't bring that up for me liking the patriots. I just live in New england, so yeah. haha.

Well not to bring up old sores, but I was reading earlier posts, and I'll admit the giants won fair and square..not many fans will say that! BUT i will also say that the patriots pretty much got too full of themselves that game and let it get in their heads that they already won...and then they just screwed up the whole game. I'll admit I cried at that game and was so mad. I skipped school the next day. I couldn't go. I was so upset haha,

But I definitely love just watching a good game of football. It's my favorite sport to watch on tv and off tv. I like to watch other sports, just not on tv. Woohoo american football!

Oh completely off the subject of professional football, my school team definitely won the superbowl in our league this year. They lost maybe one game. I was so proud haha.

Yeah I agree they were cocky, and Bill Belichick (isn't that the coach?) walked off the field before the game ended. Terrible sportsmanship, I have never seen anything that upset me more in a sports match, if I supported the Patriots I would have been embarrassed! It took the Patriots forever to get 11 players to play defense once it was clear the Giants were going to win. However, I don't think being overconfident is an excuse for anything. At least there wasn't much moping about the refs, I hate that.

There was one kid that was on the Patriots bandwagon in my class (he is the biggest bandwagon rider I have ever met) was talking trash about the Patriots all season. Anyway the day after the Super Bowl we taped a picture of David Tyree making the catch and Eli Manning hoisting the trophy in his locker, and I swear he almost cried. You probably don't think that is funny but my class sure did. We wouldn't have done it to a fan that supported the patriots before they got good but considering he just supports teams that are doing well...
