All of you must be aware what anagrams are and for those who do'nt know read this.
You all must have read CoS. In the Chamber, Voldemort first tells his real name and then changes it to "I am Lord Voldemort". Thus Anagrams are words and phrases which, when rearranged, convey a name of a person, place, etc.

I am starting an anagram quiz. I will give some phrases and you will have to find the hidden name. After every week I would give the answers. You will send answers to me through PM or email at ginny_delind@yahoo.co.in. .

So here is your first set of anagrams:

All the above anagrams are names of character/places from Harry Potter series. Best of luck to all. I will give answers on 4 feb with names of winners.

Strictly speaking, we shouldn't allow this to continue because we've prohibited quiz threads for several reasons which I'm more than happy to go into via PM if you'd like to get in touch with me, but as this one is slightly different, I'll give it a chance just as long as it doesn't lead to one liners being posted. I know you've asked people to respond via PM or e-mail, but to be honest, not many people are going to read that and they'll post here anyway People tend to get a bit overexcited, you know...

It's a bit hard to run something like this anyway via private mail because it kind of excludes people so doesn't really work on a public forum like this.

However, as I said, I'm willing to give it a chance and see how it goes. If it does lead to one liners or people don't receive responses from you fairly regularly, then I'm afraid it will have to be locked.

Okay, I'm sure they're easy. But what is the subject? And how come Parul never posted the answers?

Well, I don't know if I should post the subject yet becuase nobody has guessed. I suppose that if I get a few guesses or people saying that it is too hard then I will give you the common topic. As for now, try guessing them! I can assure you that they are Harry Potter-related!

One quick hint: They are neither poeples' names, nor names of spells. That definitely gets rid of a huge portion of possibilities, I would think. More hints on the way, but keep guessing, guys!

I am not sure what Parul is planning on doing with his/her (sorry -- I don't know your gender ) quiz. I guess it is just for fun. But if you want to post a quiz of your own, you have to guess on the Harry Potter anagrams.

This quiz is great and hats off to parul for working out the idea of starting one at VTM.But for a bit blunt minded people,this is tough competiton.So why not get a theme.I acn't make out a single thing from any of the quizes.Or give out clues..like are they actors from Hollywood or Bollywood?
'cause Anshika (Dan's Asian GIrl) had referred to a girl called Parul,so I thought parul was an Asian.

The anagram that I have posted have got nothing to do with the regular quizzes going on in here,I have said it earlier they are just for fun as they are non HP anagrams.
Chelsey_princess I am an asian actually from India and felix_felicis_444 I am a girl.
Now the quiz which I have given are on hollywood celebrities(actors,singers etc.) as I wasn't sure if many of you knew about the bollywood celebrities.

Okay, it seems like my quiz is a bit too hard, as I have not received any guesses at all, and I posted the quiz 4 days ago.

So, I already said that the theme is not peoples' names, nor the names of spells. I will add that they are not the names of places, books, chapters from ANY of the Harry Potter books, or potions.

I have to say that it leaves little options left. If nobody has guessed in three days, I will post the common theme for everybody to see.

Okay, I guess I made the quiz too hard this time. I have given many clues without actually directly giving away the common theme.

So, here it is: Magical Items and Devices. Think along the lines of Weasleys' Wizard Wheezes. Definitely make use of the HP-Lexicon's "Definitive Directory of Magical Items & Devices"!

The first person to get all 5 anagrams correct and send them to me via P.M. wins the game, and will post their own quiz!

Since I've merged the two posts, this thread slunk back down to where it was previously situated.

So to make sure that people have seen David's addition to the previous post, here's your 'bump'.


On a side note, I think maybe this thread may need to be reviewed. There's been a few occasions that people have double posted because of noone else has posted as the answers have been PMed. Maybe some kind of compromise can be reached here?

Thanks, Pixy, for the bump post for me . I was really hesitant to double post, but I saw no other way to do it. When I re-read the rules to check for any exceptions, it said that if it has been a while, bump posts are permitted. I understand completely, though.

The thing about this thread is that, whereas it appears to be pretty slow, all answer guesses are sent to the quiz maker via PM. The intention of that is to make it fair for the guesser: nobody can steal their answers if they do not post it for the public.

As a compromise, I think it might be beneficial to post the answers right on the topic itself. This way, there will probably be less double posting. We should only encourage people to be fairly sure they have all 5 answers correct before posting, though, if they do not want others to "snatch" their hardwork.

This is just my opinion, though. I do not speak on behalf of the whole thread. Just an idea, Pixy!
