I agree.
at first, i was kind of irritated
because if I had went to the casting I could have tried out
but once I saw the movie, I got over it.
they did a good job when they casted her for Luna

Oh my, I absolutely LOVED Evanna Lynch as Luna, she was perfect. I simply adored her, and even aside from the actress (<3), I loved the way they portrayed Luna, personality-wise and of course appearance-wise, I thought that both fit Luna to a T. The only thing that kinda bothered me is that I think they could've included more of Luna's "unique" lines and beliefs, not to mention they left out her dad being editor-in-chief of The Quibbler...but still, her role was just PERFECT, perfect lines, and as I said, they couldn't have done better in picking an actress. Yay, Evanna~!! Perfect air about her, perfect voice, perfect portrayal. Just wonderful. I can't wait to see her in the last two movies. <33333

I adore this Luna, is really perfect. I liked the've made her less freak and more wise. She's really cute in this movie, is impossible not to feel for her: she's got a great loss and people tease her and stole her things, but she never gets upset, she's reaaly sweet.
I really like the scene of her and Harry in the forest with Thestrals.

you guys are being mean , the book luna was a little crazy, but she doesnt deserve to be called "a freak"
the movie luna was amazing and much pretier than i imagined book luna but still, i think that book luna wasnt that bad, or "detestable"

As I've said Evanna was perfect but in terms of calling her a freak - freaks are often associated with losers. I think the perception that people have of Luna is that there's alot of air in her head and not much else. It's the same way alot of people perceive Tonks, by her appearance, she's all cool but clumsy but people don't realise that she is an auror thus she must be highly intelligent and skilled. I think it's likewise for Luna, she is clearly far from dumb and highly logical otherwise she would not be in Ravenclaw. And I think that this appreciation people have now seeing the movie, people initially think wow she's odd but I think her intelligence is shown subtly enough for most people to pick up on. such as her acceptance of certain matters and comments such as "If I were you know hwo that's what I would want you to feel, alone, because when you're alone you're not as much of a threat."
I personally don't think she's a freak at all, just as she says she's like the thestrals - "people tend to stay away from them because they're well...different"

I was very happy with the Luna character in the movie. I, however, as compared to most it seems, actually saw some darkness in her. I liked that. It was the Ministry battle scene. Here was this cute little airy blonde who's a bit "nargled..." and then when she was fighting and got the bloody lip and it didn't seem to even phase her. There was just something spooky about that scene...almost "exorcist" spooky...I can't explain...but I loved it.

Brilliant. The casting directors did a great job. Evanna Lynnch(sp) was great, she was exactly how Luna should be. She was so funny! Im glad they got the right person otherwise she would have just seemed weird.

i loved Evanna Lynch as Luna! it was awsome casting, and i think the casting directors should congratulate themselves. Luna was my favourite female character (actually, she and Tonks are my fave girls, but w.e) and the movie did an awsome job of representing her. In the movie, she was almost exactly what i pictured Luna to look like

I really think that Evanna Lynch did a great job in Ootp. She was exactly how I imagined Luna as being. I too liked the scene where she tells Harry about the thestrals. All in all, her portrayl of Luna "Loony" Lovegood was excellent.

I think one of the reasons Evanna was so very good as Luna was that she "gets" Luna at a level that goes deeper than the surface loonyness. As she's said in interviews, she recognizes that underneath it all, Luna is very centered, very content, very much aware of just who she is...and she's happy with that. There is a serenity in Luna, and Evanna's portrayal flat out nails it.
Of course, it's one thing to understand something about a character and another thing entirely to be able to convey that understanding to an audience. This is particularly true with deeper, less obvious aspects of a character's personality. For a newcomer to the craft to pull off such a difficult bit of acting is astonishing. OotP has some genuinely heavy hitters in the world of acting (to say the least!), and Evanna Lynch's performance gives up nothing to any of them. I can't wait to see how she does in the next two films!
My first post here! Seems like a really fun community!

I think they did a really great job casting Luna. Evanna had that air of mystery and craziness that the luna in the book had. She was great.

I haven't (and don't plan to) seen OotP, but from what I hear, Evanna
was brilliant in her role as Luna. I had seen her in the previews on youtube though. She has this dreamy eye look about her and the soft voice that I envisioned as Luna possessing.
I don't know that much at all about Evanna. Had she done much acting before this role? Judging from the little that I have seen and heard about her, I hope she continues as an actress.

I love Evanna! She's the perfect Luna and I don't think anyone would've played her better than her...she is Luna!
She seemed quiet crazy but at the same time she played a great friend for Harry. I think she was brilliant!

ooohh she was ssoooo perfect!!!

i love her

she did the best job of everything. it was especially great when harry and her where in the forest and he asked if her feet were cold, and she said ''a bit, but all my shoes have mysteriously disappeared''

she's such a good actress, the best luna any of us could have wished for!!

Got to agree, Luna was my favourite character in the books, and she was brilliant in the film too. Evanna is just so vague and misty and she really does look like and act like Luna. I don't think it would be the same if they got a different actress to play her, cos she was just so genuine.
I hope Evanna gets some roles in films other than HP cos I really do think she'd be great in anything!

She did it well, I just don't like "Luna" as person in the story. A bit too weird for me.

When I first saw Evanna Lynch she wasn't entirely what I imagined Luna would look like.
However, I watched the interviews with her and saw some pictures, and I started to get used to the idea. I was also optimistic when I heard all the actors and reviews saying how good she was. Then I saw the movie, and I was really impressed. She had that spunky, eccentric thing going on, and she even had the sort of voice Luna would have.
They didn't find someone to play Luna Lovegood. They found Luna Lovegood.

I absolutely love Luna's character and I think that Evanna Lynch did a great job in portraying her. She is one of the few people who has stayed true to the character that JKR wrote in the series. However, I'll admit, when I first saw her I didn't think that she would be good enough, and she definately didn't look anything like the way I imagined Luna to be. But when I saw the movie, she completly changed my mind. I loved it, she was great.

Ever since I read the Ootp, Luna became my favorite character. She's so unique and loads of fun. When they were in the casting process for Luna I got really worried that they'd pick someone who stunk. At one point they had released a couple pictures of 'possibles' and they were horrible. When I saw the first picture of Evanna Lynch and heard her first interview online, I knew she was Luna. She didn't even have to try to be like the character in the movie, cause she is Luna through and through.

I always liked Evanna as Luna...specially after the ABC behind the scenes special, where Luna briefly says "they're called Thestrals"... then I was sure she WAS Luna. And she's a fan. And she made her own earrings...!

I think she's great!

I'd love to meet Evanna ... she is an absolute Harry Potter nutter (in a good way, of course!) cos she hs cats named after characters, she makes her own earrings etc., and she even painted Harry Potter quotes on her bedroom walls! I think that's amazing - on top of being brilliant at the part, she actually loves the series, which I think is even better - not many of the HP actors can say that about themselves. In fact, a lot of them had never even read the books when they began acting in HP!!

I've seen some of the interviews, and sometimes I think that Evanna
is Luna. She's perfect for the part.

It's always funny when you get an actor who is exactly like the character they play in personality.
