Oh my! While I was looking up your links Sofie, I dicovered that Luna has been cast aswell!

I was just going to make a new thread for Evanna myself...

Anyway, she isnt exactly how i imagined Luna but she definately has a dreamy look on her face. she is really pretty and she is an avid HP fan as well Good luck to her.

I have faith in her (and in WB), because i remember when we saw the first pic of Katie Leung she didnt look like Cho at all. In the movie, however, she was perfect.

Finally they made a decision! I thought she looked okay as Luna...not exactly how i imagined but...she's alright... And yeah i agree with you Sofie, she definitely has a dreamy look on her face... I think she'll make a great Luna...

To be honest... I am not completely convinced... but she is way better than I thought!

At least she does have a dreamy look... and the fact that she is an avid HP fan gives me hope. Because then it is very likely that she will play her role pretty well.

I think she is ok. Not perfect, but a very good choice! I'd love to see her dressed as her character, with the weird earrings and reading the quibbler!!

I think she looks really good for the part. The fact that they auditioned sooooo many girls and picked her makes me think that she must have had to have been good to get the part so im really looking forward to see how she does

She looks kind of like I imagined Luna, a bit younger, perhaps. I don't know why I pictured her older looking, I guess because of how old Dan and Rupert look now, and she's only supposed to be a year behind them. Nothing big, though. . .

I don't know if her surviving the thousands of auditioners is any sign of how good she is, though. . .Jake Lloyd, anyone? Apologies to any who actually like him, but that poor kid could not act.

I imagined Luna as a small, skinny blonde girl with a constant dreamy-daydreaming look on her face. Evanna has that dreamy look that I was expecting. I hope she does well, and I bet she will. Luna is such a great character and has such a free-will that it will be hard to mess it up.

I have high hopes for Evanna, and I have faith! As Solorund said, she must be pretty good if she was picked out of thousands of hopeful girls! She is an avid Harry Potter reader and obviosuly a HUGE fan if she was first on line, so I bet she knows Luna's character front-to-back, which makes me feel much better about the casting choice! Luna is one of my favorite characters, so.....YAY! hehe

We obviously have yet to see what her acting will be like, but I think Evanna totally looks the part! It would be virtually impossible for WB to find someone who looks exactly the way I imagined Luna -- when I read the books now, I see Dan, Rupert, Emma, and Bonnie in all the scenes, but I think that's because the first movie was released only shortly after I read the SS for the first time and I never really had time to develop very solid mental images of the characters. Therefore, any actress would have come into at least some conflict with my "vision" of Luna, but Evanna definitely strikes me as the dreamy-expression type which is, of course, a plus.

I also think it's awesome that a HP fan has finally risen to get such a great part in the movies -- I believe she's the first hard-core fan to land a main role. That's so cool that she was at all the midnight releases... she's as good as I am! Better, even, since I've never made a HP shirt. Maybe she's even hanging out on a fan site somewhere! I consider this a victory for our people.

Cho was the only character who looked some much like the person I pictured in my head, just sweet and pretty and having the kind of presence that makes Harry's attraction to her prefectly understandable. Evanna is a bit differnt to the person who I saw, but I remember the first picture of Robert with that scowl on his face and I thought, "That's who's playing Cedric!" But seeing him in action he really is a dreamy type and now I think prefectly picked. Stan was much the same, but then I saw some clips of him dancing with Emma and I thought he looked really dashing. So I think I'll need to see Evanna in action before I say "yes, she's playing her!" But this must be completly awsome for her, she's a huge fan, it's like one of us up there, so she has my support.

She almost has more of a sassy look to her than being dreamy. She seems familiar for some reason too. Has she done anything before? Or is she a total unknown?

I do think I like her though. I can already picture the radish the earrings dangling on her ears.

As far as looks go, the only criticism I have, which is very minor. She looks a blonder than I imagined Luna. But I can easily live with that.

my first impression of her wasn't the "perfect" luna... but after i saw the second picture... i looked at her closely, and then i realized she's a great luna! she might not be perfect... but i think she will do a good job... she has the looks even though the hair isn't supposed to be that blonde

i'm not complaining though... it's great that another hp fan is going to be able to have the experience of her life!

Her look isn't exactly what I pictured Luna, but I am sure they can change some, but other than that, I can't complain. I think a fan of the series getting a part is brilliant. I hope she does well.

Well, first of all I'd like to say that she's not my perfect Luna, but anyway I think Evanna is much better choice than those two pre-Lovegood girls(Laura Scaife & Jessica Hoggins).If she acts good everything's alright.

I think Evanna is ok, I guess. I can't judge her yet, I've only seen three pictures. I must admit that I prefer jessica, she's so pretty and although the books said nothing about luna being pretty, I hoped that she was pretty in the movies. pretty and odd is a good combination :) I'm not saying that evanna is ugly, she's pretty in her own way.

I think that Evanna's pretty, but she's not a Luna. I don't think I'll go into much detail.

She doesn't give off that... dreamy effect that Luna does. I'm sorry, but Luna looks nothing like Evanna in my head.

I don't think Evanna looks like a Luna. Luna in my mind had dirty blonde hair, big blue eyes with dark circles around them and looked a bit unhealthy, anorexic if you will.But I suppose we can't judge, we haven't seen her in the movies yet. I just hope she does a good portrayal of Luna or else I will go totally mental.

Ooh!! *claps hands* I like!! She's exactly how I pictured Luna!! The eyes and everything, though I have to admit that I pictured Luna a bit more of a stick-thin person really. Not that Evanna is fat or anything, of course! It's just that I figured Luna to be almost verging on anorexic for some reason, I don't really know why...

I think with Luna everyone has a completely different figgure in their heads which is why its so hard to please everyone. Evanna's not the perfect Luna that I pictured but Im sure WB will do an okay job in Lunafying her up! The actors are hardly ever going to be 100% perfect looking, I just hope she can capture the essence of Luna in her acting; I think she would be one of the hardest characters to act convincingly.

Oh yeah, and WOOOO shes obviously a major fan! Hopefully that will help her do Luna justice!

She's what I imagined Bellatrix Lestrange to look like, not what I imagined Luna to look like! They should dye her hair dirty blonde, because the platinum blonde is so not Luna. And I guess if they make her look a little weirder.... I thought one of the girls who made it to like the final five looked better. Well, I still have hope.

I thought she was pretty good, not perfect, but probally will be when make up gets thier hands on her.
i like it that shes a HP fan, and that she went to the audition from Ireland and had to fly, it shows dedication. I also like her, because she went to the open castings, and I may have seen her.

I'm not disappointed at all to say the least! She reminds me of someone...I just can't put my finger on it and it's really bugging me. Well, anyways she's looks young and cute; I'm sure she'll do fine with her role! I put a lot of faith in the casting after GoF...Rita was just brilliant! But getting back on subject, no Kells she has naturally brown hair(much like Tom) from what the homepage said, but it looks fine to me. Did yall see her picture from the OotP release? She's an obessor like us lol.

I think she's pretty good. Not exactly, but better than some of those Lunas I've seen. I pictured Luna real skinny as well, and with kind of wavyish hair. Maybe she'll look more the part once they get her in costume. So far, I'm happy with all the casting decisions.

I'm impressed with the choice of Luna, and that she is a big HP fan like us, is really great too. She sure has a lot to live up to though.. So many people really love Luna, and she can't meet everyone's expectations. We can't judge a book by it's cover, well we can, but not.. as well

The only problem that I have is that her hair is very blonde. She looks like she is related to Malfoy a bit, but who knows, maybe they will dye it more dirty blonde? But really, I'm sure she'll do fine =) Can you believe that WB is going to start filming soon? I'm so excited!

She's ok. To be honest, my reaction was more positive than my reaction when I found out that Katie Leung will play Cho Chang's role. I don't know anything about the actress but let's just see in OotP movie.

I haven't seen any dates, and since this is a Harry Potter site, I think we would've definitely known if the exact date was released. I would guess it is a rumor, but who knows? Evanna Lynch is still ok by me. As long as she can act and get her part right. I hope she can be weird.

It does help if the actors are big HP fans because they'll already have researched their character. I Hope Evanna does well, and settles in with the rest of the cast

I was really disappointed when I saw Evannah Lynch had been cast.. She's not how I had imagined Luna, not at all.. Hope she'll be more Luna-ish on screen..

I wasn't sure at first if I liked Evanna, but now I don't. Wierd how minds can change! It was like that with the R/Hr ship - I liked it at first then realy did not.
There are a who;le bunch of reasons. And I guess half of them are jelousy, plus her mum totally slagging me off.

umm.. she doesn't look at all like the Luna I imagined. lol But she has a really dreamy look on her face that perfect for Luna. I hope she does well in the film.

i agree with some other people in this thread that Evana (i forgot her last name) really isnt what i imagined she would be... for one thing... i imagined luna to have a longer face and to be a bit more skinnier. dont get me wrong, i'm not saying Evana is fat. i just imagined luna to be the anorexic type.

and... i dont know... i just thought that luna would be... different... not the usual blonde... yeah, and thicker brows too... definitely.

Honestly, She doesn't exactly look like the Luna I pictured in my mind, but she is a very pretty girl. I think I will, though, have to see more clips and pictures to detemine if she is a good actress or not in my humble opinion, but I'm sure she is, as they wouldn't have chosen a not up to par actress for such a huge movie. I do like that she was a huge, avid Harry Potter fan prior to getting the part, so that she enjoys the HP stories and isn't just in the movie to act, but for the love of HP.

As for me, I like her more now. (minds changed again!) I read an interview and she seems really nice. Which is kind of what seems to count for me at the momment.
And I still think one of the girls behind me in the queue for Luna would have been better. She was way more Luna ish and had natural dirty blonde hair. Sorry Evanna, but the platinum dye looks terrible.

I really don't like her for the role of Luna. She looks nothing like I imagined her to look! I really wish I could have tried out for the role... but as I live in the US that wasn't going to happen.

well now we have the 1st TV interview of Evanna...so we are able to judge her by not just still images, but by a video.... personally, i love Evanna! she sounds so sweet and nice(i love the way she talks!) and she looks like Luna! JKR said that she's perfect (and I don't think she would lie), so us fans should have nothing to worry about

i'm glad that she was a huge fan before the movies because that means she's one of us and she knows how to portray Luna 'cause she probably read the book many times.... i'm happy for her and i can't wait until we get more OotP news and the actual movie!

Personally, I think she is perfect for the part! The video interview made it clearer than ever. Evanna looks and acts pretty much like I would imagine Luna to act. And her being an HP fan is also a huge advantage - that means she knows her character (and not only her character) very well. Wish her luck

LOL. yeah. The interview pretty much showed us we were dealing with Luna even then. I always knew I liked the look of her and now, I'm expecting great things. Evanna IS Luna (except in witch powers perhaps) LOL

yeah i heard Evanna lynch was going to play her and that is perfect that is what i thought she would look like and sound and she is pretty if you ask me (she is 14 i am 14) just kidding i love Bonnie Wright (Ginny Weasley) but yeah she is perfect for the role of Luna Lovegood.

The interview was awesome - she sounds really like you'd imagine Luna. Kind of spaced out and chilled - really dreamy. So yeah - I think she's a good choice. I'm looking forward to seeing her wearing butterbear corks or whatever it is that Luna wears!
