It takes about one hour and ten minutes to read all the way through this thread so far. lol
Lol. laugh.gif You actually read everthing in this thread and recorded the time?

That thing about the Netherlands. Yeah saw it on tv last week, I was really suprised with that result. We do donate some, but in my opinion it's not as if we donate much, we could donate far more!

I really like all these pieces of useless information. I always remember some, and I have to share them with others when the time's right. The best ones are those about animals/people, it's cool when you walk in the zoo passed the zebra's and explaining why they're black/white striped. It always makes my friends stare in a How-does-she-know-that way. tongue.gif

Oh no! I'm going to San Fransisco and I'm ugly! What shall I do?

Lol, just kidding. I think I'm actually quite pretty if you ask me wink.gif

Hmm...

I can sing every word to "Dance, Dance" correctly. Sometimes I get some lines mixed up due to how I used to think the words were.

I've only been out of my time zone twice, and they where both just an hour difference.

My dad calls me "zombie child" because I usually go on the computer, listen to music and watch tv at the same time. What can I say, I'm a muti- tasker!

I have to leave in an hour and a half for the airport! I'm quite excited!

Ok that was a bunch of rambling...

I love this thread, I copied and pasted most of it and forced my better-half to sit and listen to the marvolous facts (as if I thought of them tongue.gif )

4. George Washington smoked pot for his tooth pain. A lot of people did back then, because it was easily grown, and there was no aspirin or ibuprofen!

I can totally believe that, we did about cannabis (It took about three trips to the pub for me to learn delta-9-tetrahydracannabinol, I was so happy when I finally rememered it, perhaps I shouldn't have revised in the pub biggrin.gif ) , its used to relieve pain and increase appetite in cases such as Cancer, in fact after my mum read my notes she was on the verge of asking me to get her some (she has osteoperosis and doesn't respond well to morphine - "the pain killer to which all others are compared" )

I fall for nearly all the (enter number here tongue.gif)% will fall for this or try this - I tried licking my elbow and stroking my nose tongue.gif, I'm so gullable

you just know that I'll be trying that one too tongue.gif

I think that the one about mispelt words in a paragraph is to do with global pocessing (I was hopeless at the language model, as you can probably tell by my spelling and grammer sad.gif )

I'd love to add some facts but I have no general knowledge at all, but thankyou very much for giving me some that I will definately be trying to slip into casual conversation biggrin.gif

I was just wondering about what fall_out_girl said about the town in Wales, Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch... how many of you can actually say it (with correct pronunciation), I can because I'm half Welsh and I kinda learnt how to say it for no particular reason. Did you know that the train station in the town actually has the whole name on a sign above it, must be huge! Most of the time the name is just shortened to Llanfairpwll.

So this post isn't really off topic, I'll post a couple of facts...

Although some sharks do kill people, more people have been killed by dogs or bees.

A dentist invented the electric chair. (That's a bad one.)

And...

I can't think of anymore off the top of my head.

Here is a totally random, useless, never going to be cared about piece of information. Please don't get mad for me saying this, but the toliet has made slaves of all of you. MUHAHAHA.

I read a cover story about phobias in a magazine. Then I came to know about those weird phobias. Some are like-

Ablutophobia-itching
Angrophobia-becoming angry
Aphenphomphobia-people
Cathisophobia-sittng
Hamartophobia-sinning.

These are all little.there are thosands of weird phobias. Some of my phobias

Glossophobia-speaking in public
Acrophobia-heights
Achluophobia-darkness.

So anyone here having any weird phobias??
Zophael
You know, Phoenix, if I had read this a month ago I would have been a bit doubtful about whether some of those phobias were even real. However...

I teach Arabic at a Military Language School and one of my students (a U.S. Marine who is about 6'2" and 210 lbs!) has one of the silliest fears I've ever heard of. He is irrationally scared of Sunflowers. Now, I know that there is a fear of flowers (anthrophobia) but for him it does not apply to any others except for sunflowers. And when I say irrational, I mean that one of his classmates thought they'd have fun with him one day by pulling one out of their pocket and giving it to him and he tried to dive through the wall to escape it.

Now, at first I thought he was just starving for attention but then it occurred to me that Marines would never really pretend to be scared of anything, much less something as harmless as a simple sunflower. So I asked the young man upon what does he base his fear of these flowers and his response was "Well, the whole idea of a flower that's taller than I am that turns its head throughout the day so it can look at the sun kind of freaks me out. See, in my opinion no flower should be that smart."

I know I could have tried to argue the simple logic of how most flowers can do that same exact thing and that it wasn't intelligence guiding them, but the look on his face that was a mixture of terror and grudging respect was so comical that I could only chuckle, clap him on the shoulder, and say "Right on."

My only worry is that one day he's in some foreign land defending democracy and his commander tells his element to take a hilltop that happens to be covered in those tall, yellow petalled demons. I just hope he doesn't freak out and start blowing his buddies away when they try to force him up that hill.

Anyway, lunch break's over so back to work for me. Later.

I know this is really old, but I wanted to go back on something that's false:

QUOTE
-An apple, onion, and potato all have the same taste. The differences in flavor are caused by their smell. To prove this, pinch your nose and take a bite from each. They will all taste sweet.

I actually don't think this is true.

I haven't been able to smell my entire life. Not sure why, I was just sort of born that way. (It's rare, I know, but it's really not much different then being born blind or deaf.) My dad can't either, and nor can my brother. But we can all taste. I've never tried the apple/onion/potatoe thing, but yet, I can still taste the difference from them easily in my normal life. I should probably try it one day and see if it works any differently for me when I hold my nose. Though, to be honest, I can't imagine there being a difference, because there isn't much of a difference between when I'm holding my nose and when I'm not. (Seeing as I can't smell at all.)

But hey, if I ever do, I'll tell you guys how it went. wink.gif

I got one:

If you get your hair dyed blond or highlighted blond whatever and you go into a swimming pool with chlorine it goes green..as most people know..well what you do if it does that is get some tomato ketchup, but some in a dish, mix it with water, and run it through your hair. You do this because the red neutralises the green and turns it back into blond.

I suppose it isn't useless if you get your hair dyed while your on holiday and go into a swimming pool.
