Is Albus a gryffindor.. is Rose a bookworm like her mother?

Dont you guys think that there needs to be a add on to the harry potter series, like harry potter is over but do the life of albus dumbledore or the life of voldemort do somethign about the first war and so on because the 2nd war is all written and finished so we dont need any more details, unless theres another powerful dark wizard that comes to power and harry goes to try and stop him and he dies and his son albus severus potter rises to the occasion and kills the abstard, but dont you think there should be a book about before harry was born, that has lily james sirius lupin pettigrew voldemort, basically everyone that was alive before they died
Padfoot_Sirius_Black
Well, Ok. I heard about a Interview with JKR and she said that she might right a Encyclopedia about what happens after the 7th book. I dont believe she will right a 8th book as ive read the 7th book and read what happens to Harry. So i dont believe she will right a 8th, but i do think she might write a Encyclopedia.
RebelRoosGirl
So it is official! JKR is writing a Harry Potter Encyclopedia about what happens to all of the characters.

“I’m not going to do it tomorrow because I’d really like a break,” Rowling said, laughing. “So you may be waiting.”

So she shouldn't be feeding us information in bits and pieces! mad.gif HP fans are patient people. I mean, we had to wait two years between the books, didn't we? We can wait for this encyclopedia of hers to be published. This way no one will be confused and end up repeating rumors. In the meanwhile, I would like for Rowling to shutup.gif !!
RebelRoosGirl
Hey she is at least letting us know there is more. Dont get to frustrated, I mean she could what she usually does and wait like....five months then let us know. This way, we can get on with our lives and be like "OMG! THE ENCYCLOPEDIA IS OUT IN SEVEN MONTHS!" later on. Instead of all this, "What if she never writes anything ever again?" TT_TT
reniette
i hope she writes something else soon as well as the encloypedia
sorry about that spelling

I would really like her to write something else on harry potter whther its an 8th book or an encyclopedia, i really don't care. I absolutely love harry potter and would read anything she writes about him.

I am a massive h/hr shipper (please don't comment on that or judge me) and i would find it extremely cool if she wrote a book on h/hr and r/L, it would be so exciting.

Anyway that's what i think loads of people probably disagree and i would like to hear why as well as the comments from the people who do.

thanks

Not from the Harry Potter series, I don't want AND it has been confirmed long ago. But I guess a 'Albus Dumbledore and the blahblah' wouldn't hurt? wink.gif I really need more HP now. lol

EDIT: Heeey, wait! I meant Albus Potter! Lol I knew it wasn't right.

OMG ARE YOU SERIOUS!!!! YAY!!! biggrin.gif OMG OMG OMG

THATS SO AMAZING!!

what do you reckon it will be about now that she has already done the 19yrs later thing?

I don't know, I mean, I was just watching an interview with her drawing HP's second generation family tree, and she says that's not going to happen...

QUOTE
Jo is asked in the video clip if this whole new generation of characters means additional Hogwarts books could be written, however Jo puts an end to this saying no. JKR replied: “Yeah,…don’t, don’t, don’t, it can’t be. I think no, it’s time to stop, it’s time to stop now. It gives me a certain satisfaction to say what I thought happened and to tell other people that, because I would like my version to be the official version still, even though I’ve not written it in a book, because it’s my world.”

I know, we would all love an 8th HP book... sad.gif .... lol tongue.gif
phoεnix
thats really great, but i dont think she shuld continue on that samw old harry but start with a new role of Albus.S.Potter biggrin.gif which would be really interesting.
The Master of Death
Man i wish Jk would do that if she doesn't also i wish someone would do that but i think its all over no more books so i content myself by reading the fanfics here but there is one book we all are waiting for THE HARRY POTTER ENCYCLOPEDIA but i truly wish Jk would continue at least one more book about Harry s job and Albus Severus,James,Rose,Lily and everyone s life but i don't think thats going to happen
The Master of Death
wow that is awesome news i wish that news is true i would be more than delighted to hear that....yea three cheers for Joanne Katherine Rowling if this news is true but she says if she writes also harry wont be the central character i suppose it would be about the next generation.....HIP HIP HURRAH biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

Here's the article in case the link disappears:

Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling has strongly hinted for the first time that she could write an eighth book in the series.

Rowling, 42, admits she has 'weak moments' when she feels she will pen another novel about the boy wizard.

One of her biggest fans – her 14-year-old daughter Jessica – has already put pressure on her to revisit the character.

Weak moments: JK Rowling may give in to temptation and write an eighth Harry Potter book

And her younger children – David, four, and Mackenzie, two – are likely to join the clamour for another novel as they discover the Potter books.

However, if an eighth novel were to be written, Rowling concedes it is unlikely that Harry would be the central character.

She finished the seventh book in the series – Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows – last January.

At the time she thought she was ending a 17-year association with the boy wizard.

But in an interview with Time magazine, which put Rowling at No 3 in its Person Of The Year list, she said: "There have been times since finishing, weak moments, when I've said 'Yeah, all right' to the eighth novel.

Harry Potter And The Order Of The Phoenix

Pottering on: Is there more adventure in store for Harry, Ron and Hermione?

"If - and it's a big if - I ever write an eighth book, I doubt that Harry would be the central character. I feel I've already told his story.

"But these are big ifs. Let's give it ten years."

In the meantime, Rowling is working on two writing projects – an adult novel and a "political fairy tale" – and is involved in charity work.

Well, she clearly left the room for the next book in te last part.To me,it relly looks unfinished...but,the main characters probably won't be Harry,Hermiona and Ron...their children porheps....
chinery13
I would love an eighth book and i'm sure i'm not alone when i say that. I would agree that perhaps it shouldn't be Harry's perspective but maybe Hermione or Ginny or someone like that would be interesting to read. We'll have to wait and see wont we. fingers crossed.

This article will certainly get tongues wagging! Will she or won't she? If this is true then it might be worth hanging aroung the HP fandom for the next 10 years!!

By the way, I have merged this thread with the exsisting one on the Potter series exceeding the 7th book.
jayden.payne
i dnt want her to write another book... I NEED HER TO WRITE ANOTHER BOOK. i refuse to read anything but the harry potter serise. so if she doesntwrite another book i will just have to stop reading all together. or read 1 - 7 all over again and again rolleyes.gif

This is not the whole article, but I wanted to know what you thought about this. To be honest, I wouldn't be surprised if she did write another Potter book.

etphonehome
This is getting a bit frustrating--this topic is already being discussed in another thread within this very forums so I'm going to merge them both together. Sorry Lauren, but you'll find your post come way down in the pecking order with this particular bit of news.
Aethonon
Well, I hope she toughens up and stops having 'weak moments.' I don't really want an eighth book. I don't really want an encyclopedia, to be honest.

Sounds weird, coming from a fan, doesn't it? But to be honest, this should be her entire tale. In seven books, over seven school years (seven being a magical number and therefore sensible in that regard) as she laid out and planned for all these years. All this hoopla about the 'last book,' about how 'all questions would be answered' (and of course, she wasn't very truthful in that regard, was she?), and within months she's hinting of another! Another book would mess with Seven--not a great idea, in my opinion. If she had extra information, she should have included it all in the original seven books, instead of making us wait for rumors and putting things on her website about this, that, and the other.

One of the things that I liked about HP was the ability to use my own imagination-deciding for myself who Draco's wife was, and what her name might be, where she was from, for example. Now his wife's name is on her offical website, along with the spouses of other characters.

She keeps messing with us, with her little bits & pieces of information, the names of who married who, who is straight and who is gay, etc. I wish she'd give it a rest and let us decide for ourselves. It's like she has to constantly remind us that it is her world to play with, not ours. I find it a bit exploitative, these 'teasers,' and more than a little irritating. dry.gif

Don't get me wrong. I know it's her world, that she created it, and she can do as she likes with it. But all good things should come to an end. It's going to be pretty sad if she's still hinting and writing about this world long after many of her fans have drifted on to something new. And as unbelievable as it sounds, something awesome will come along that we'll fall in love with! wink.gif

She's got such an amazing imagination--I'd love to see something awesome and new from her instead of re-hashing over HP forever and on. She can certainly afford to step back and rest, and let her imagination focus on something new! I'm sure she feels scared that it won't be as popular as HP, but I know a lot of people who would definitely give it a try at least! happy.gif

OK, guys, I know this isn't a popular opinion, but it is mine, and I am not going to argue it with anyone, that wasn't my intention at all. Just saying my piece, is all. wink.gif
etphonehome
I totally agree with you Darcy, and judging from the Tv show 'A Year in the life...' which I watched last night she won't be writing another HP book. Yes she has got all this other information and has probably had ideas of where she thought the characters might go, like in the case of this new family tree, to me if you had watched the programme, it was one of those things that you doodle when your talking to someone, you know like when you are trying to describe an outfit and you do a quick sketch. I don't think it was meant as more 'leaked' information.

She was pretty adamant that she had finished Harry's story exactly where she had intended. She seems eager to move onto new pastures. She is writing something more grown up and also what she describes as a 'political fairy tale' for younger readers. From the TV prgramee, I gathered Harry Potter to be her own form of therapy. She put all of the bad experiences of her life into the series and has come out the other side a happier more whole person, ready to embark on a new journey that doesn't include Harry Potter.
Aethonon
Gawd, that's a relief! Thanks Elaine! To me that's good news! And the doodle thing makes sense, except that once it's on her official website, it becomes canon to many fans. I've had enough experiences with canon fanatics just writing 'Our Turn in Time' to last me the rest of my life! lol I just don't think it's fair that some information is only available online. It should all have been in the original seven books. There have also been problems with her extra information not being consistent with information she's provided elsewhere, and it causes a lot of arguments among fans (which I also dealt with in writing that fanfic of mine).

If that show comes on in the States I'll have to actually *gasp* watch TV! laugh.gif

EDIT--OK, I was super-cranky yesterday, so forgive me for going off. I don't know why the tidbits bug me so much, they just do. I wish everything was in the books, that's all.
gryffindorgirlie
Personally, I'm on the fence about this. One me thinks that she should either tell us straight away wether she's going to do another one. But I suppose that's me just being greedy. But the other one of me knows that she has been under a lot of stress with deadlines etc and I can understand why she wants to keep it kinda private.

I'd really like her to do one though. There's been discussion of her doing more like Beedle the Bard type thing. The HP world but not with Harry in it. I think that'd be nice. Kind of a break from all that action.

Then of course there's the Encyclopedia (which sound ace). This topic is never ending! tongue.gif
MoonLight
I'm not a fan of encyclopedia's. I've read one of those little books JK wrote, and I didn't really like it.. So if she'd make a "real" book, I'd read it, but if she's really gonna make that encyclopedia, I won't.
Candy
Actually, I don't mind the encyclopedia idea. I would love to get my hands on a "Monster Book of Monsters"--plush with sounds, of course. lol "Hogwarts: A History" would be awesome, too.

I think it's great that Ms. Rowling is going to work on non-HP books. She has a wonderful imagination, and I'm looking forward to reading whatever she comes out with.

I think it would be great if she were open to the possibilities of filling in the gaps between the last chapter of DH and its Epilogue. I would also like to see stories about the next generation, or even stories about the original Order of the Pheonix. There's so much that can still be written. There are some wonderful fanfiction writers out there, but I'd prefer to read Rowlings versions--if she is willing and able to write them.

yes, that would be great. but this is a "normal" ecyclopedia, right? And I think that's pity..
jayden.payne
I reckon it would be heaps cool to have a HP encyclopedia. Then we could learn even more about the world we all know and love rolleyes.gif

PLEASE JKR! WRITE ANOTHER BOOK. OR AN ENCYCLOPEDIA! unsure.gif please.
IndianaWolfgang
I think it would be quite exciting to get a one off Potter book in a few years showing what the characters do when they're older and any more excitement they might face, after all there was a few pages at the end of Hallows showing this...maybe it was a hint
Phoenix Lament
i dont think nineteen years later was a hint at another book, i think it was just rounding off. JK had to make sure we knew that everyone was okay, that voldemort was never coming back, and give us an insight to the relationships
i dont think there will be anymore books sadly sad.gif
miss_bella
And eighth book would be any die-hard Potter fan's dream. Oh, If she ever confirmed another book in the works, I'd cry with happiness. I would reserve it the first day possible, and camp out at least two weeks in advance at a bookstore just because.

However, I can't get my hopes up. Even though I'd really like her to write another seven years from Al Potter's P.O.V., I just can't count on it.

Though honestly, I could see it.

Either way, she needs to get writing again. But anything except HP would be so weird coming from Jo.
Witherwings
I've loved the series to death and I would love to read more, but honestly I have to say that 8 books is too much. When you're at seven already it's alot, but it's when you say it's really done that you realize how not right it would be to have more books. It's always been 7 books, and I dunno... It just doesn't seem right. It isn't. Starting a whole new series based on HP would not be okay either, I have to say, because I really do think that we've had enough HP from her! With the encyclopedia, also. I'm not saying that I don't want anymore HP and that I'm tired of it, I'm only saying that it just isn't right to have any more. But now I'm repeating myself so I shall go. smile.gif
forsaken_wolfess
I have a two word answer for the question 'Should JK write another hp book?': HECK YES!
miss_bella
I don't actually think there's such thing as 'too much Harry Potter'. I think that after ten years of devotion to the series, I still am craving more, and there's a hollow spot in my heart carved by the knowledge no more shall come.

As for Witherwings, I don't think eight is that much different from seven. One of my favorite series besides Harry Potter (well, duh) is the Bridgerton Romance Series by Julia Quinn. Its an eight-book series.

Okay, the point is THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS TOO MUCH POTTER

That's like saying "I think there is too much oxygen here". Not even thinkable.

And for everyone who thinks an eighth book would be too much....you don't have to read it. I, however, will be the first to finish it. (:
magicantewriter
[font=Book Antiqua][size=2]I think she will, and should. But my personal thoughts are more that it's an easier way for her to really finish Harry... seems like she's having trouble letting go... and who can blame her! The rest of the world can't either.
Dumbledore's Widow
I can see a need for an encyclopedia, but another HP book? I hope not.

What would this book be about? Stories about the Potter-Weasley kids at Hogwarts? Would these books be more light hearted? Or, maybe Rowling plans to bring back Voldemort to harass Harry's kids this time. rolleyes.gif

Rowling had a huge success with the first HP series, but lightening doesn't usually hit the same place twice!
BeekyofGriffindor
I'd love to see a book on Dumbledore's life. Afterall, he was over 100.... that would be plenty of living, going back a generation or two. Since Riddle came into Dumbledore's earlier years, it would also cover a good deal of Riddle's evolution. Perhaps we'd even seen the beginning of the OOP, and the first part of the war.

Sound good?

Very nicely said. That is exactly how I feel. I think that JKR has told her story and that the rest is left to us. If she were to write another series of books I don't think it would blow over well if they were to 'light hearted'. I dont' think that we need anything more because "All was well" when we last left the world of Harry Potter and we don't need to worry anymore about it because we know that Harry will always be there to save the day. happy.gif
notafanbutafriend
i do think so because they left a wighed area for another book and i have a feeling it not over for harry and the gang.dudly is going to gain alot of dark power he has the ambition know also to be shared by voldamert so lits see what happends and i hope its not a biogravy set book like i have herd it was going to b o and i have seen lighning hit the same place twices and it made a big hole in the ground
gryffindorwitch
No, I don't think there will be an 8th book on the cards. Although I'd love to see an 8th book, it's not going to happen. But I did hear that J.K. Rowling is making an encyclopedia about all the HP characters and there lives after Hogwarts [I'm not sure though] Although there was a lot of unanswered questions, I think that was the way J.K. Rowling wanted to leave it. I mean most of the answers have been found out within other books. But that's just me, and I don't think a lot of people will agree with me about her not writing a books but I think the 7th book was her last and final.

Small Synopsis

This link is a small synospis type thing about what J.K. Rowling is said to be planning to do. I think most likely she will be doing a huge encyclopedia rather than an 8th book.
clemxens
I hope she does an encyclopedia. It should tie up all of the remaining loose ends, and give us background information on the characters.

A book about Dumbledore would be nice, too.
HJP/HJG_TrueLove
I don't think Rowling will write any more HP books except for the encyclopedia. Maybe if she did it would be about Harry as an auror or his children but I don't see her writing a Harry Potter 8. I think the 7th is the end of the series no question because of the epilogue. If she really had any doubts about ending the series at 7 she wouldn't have made the epilogue 19 years later it would have maybe been one year later. I think the encyclopedia is the last Harry Potter related book she will ever write. If she did however write another book I don't think it would inspire the same magic because the Harry Potter books were about the fight between Harry and Voldemort. I don't think I could read another HP book if it didn't have Voldemort in it because Voldemort was such an essential part in the plots; ever present throughout the series.
DeSs
I hopefully believe that she's going to write (or is writing right now) another book, but not the eight book, as a sequel. I think and would like she'll be writing a kind of encyclopedia about those things she couldn't put on the books, because they didn't fit, that information most of us is craving for. Of course, I don't like the fact that this is over, that we won't be starting a new HP book, like before, with "Harry Potter wasn't a normal boy...He was a wizard..." like the old times eeek.gif, but she definitely won't be writing anything else to continue the series. Just maybe the things we found out in her interviews, like where do the trio work, what happened with the remaining Death Eaters, who murdered the most relevant characters, and stuff like that.
Really looking forwards to read it!!
And, yeah ...

IT'S NEVER ENOUGH HARRY POTTER!!!
Eisa
I don't know if she'll write any more books specifically about HP, but I always thought it would be interesting if she wrote a book or two about the other wizarding schools. There's definitely Beauxbatons and Durmstrang, and you know there's got to be more. Like at least a couple in the States and probably loads more around the world...just look at all the countries represented at the Quidditch World Cup! So I thought it would be interesting if she ever did some books on life there and how it differed from Hogwarts. It would be interesting to see the similarities and the differences. Heehee, maybe an exchange program could take place? wink.gif

Actually, that might be even more interesting, a Hogwarts student going to a different wizarding school for a year and someone from that school taking their place! happy.gif She should so write that now, lol.
lycan41
After JK does the encyclopedia, and because she won't be under any pressure to write another book dealing specifically with Harry, I just have a feeling that she's going to do 1 more invloving the trio. Maybe the last year at Hogwarts, or their wizarding carrers later in life, or possibly with their children. Or as Eisa wrote, an exchange program with one of the other wizarding schools. I just can't shake the feeling that Jk is gonna write 1 more book dealing with Harry.
Mew
I agree!!!! I would love to have another Harry Potter book. Nope. There can never be too much Harry Potter. biggrin.gif
Harry James Potter
You know what I would like the best? Anybody....

*spots raised hand in the crowd*

"Yes sir, what do you think it is that I would like most?"

*man stands up*

"I think you'd like a book about the Marauders generation at Hogwarts, starring the Marauders and Lily."

*man sits down*

"Yup, that's what I want next from JKR"
