I was born in the Netherlands, and I still live here. In the almost-biggest-harbor-city Rotterdam! tongue.gif

I was born and raised in America, and it sucks. I live in Memphis to be exact, it was rated the worst crime city in the whole country last year. Hey, if were lucky enough maybe we'll be the worst in the world!........... dry.gif

I live in a really tiny town in upstate New York in the United States. Always lived in the US. I was born in a different state, but I've lived in NY for 8 years. Our town shouldn't be called a town. There's like nobody around. huh.gif I love living out in the country. I live on a farm which is a lot of work, but a lot of fun. biggrin.gif

I haven't seen many movies with farms that show the cleaning out the barn part of farm life. Most of the time they're just feeding the animals. Well, we have to shovel out the cow barn every couple months. Strangely, I don't mind it. Most people are disgusted. We have to clean out the chicken coop too. Personally, I think that's ten times worse. Chicken manure is gross. But I love getting the eggs out of the chicken coop in the morning. Nothing beats fresh eggs and bacon. We have pigs too. It gets aggravating in the winter sometimes when it's below freezing and I have to go out and feed them. Sometimes I just want to sit inside and keep warm. happy.gif Is that enough info? If you want more, let me know, MoonLight biggrin.gif

I live in the historic little town of Hyde Park, New York. I've always lived in the United States in New York. It's bot really a little town but it rocks the socks. Hyde Park, is where Franklin D. Roosevelt lived as well as Eleanor Roosevelt. There is also the Vanderbuilt Mansion and the historic Haviland Middle School which once was FDR High School and where FDR came to speak as well.

I don't know if I've already posted here, but if I have well you get to read it twice! tongue.gif I live in Canada, in a northern part of a province. I live in the middle of nowhere. It takes 15 minutes to get to the town, which is 25 minutes from the city. Since my school is in the city it takes 45 minutes to get to school each morning. If I looked out my window right now, I would see a lot of trees and wild land, and my neighbours who are far apart. I would see the farms and animals in the distance and hear the roosters. Yes, I live in the country. Haha I love to get out, sometimes I feel 'claustrophobic', like being trapped in the woods.

My city has a horrible crime rate as well. Second in the state, but I'm not sure where we are rated in the nation. Most likely very close to the top.... I live in Arkansas, southern side of the U.S.A. Nothing much ever happens here which is why I can't wait to graduate and go to college out of state!

Lauren, I used to live in Canada, but that was like 5 years ago. I miss the place and my friends. I think we might go back to visit next summer. Hehe, I'm excited!
No George without Fred
I have lived in Montana for my whole life and I love it here!!! I live in the Gallitan Vally so I am allway surrounded by mountains! Not alot happens here but thats ok with me because it's where I've called 'home' for my whole life. rolleyes.gif

I live in the United States, in Provo, Utah, to be specific. I love it here! It's a beautiful valley, and there is a stunning view of the Rocky Mountains where I live (actually, I almost live on them smile.gif )

And the sky here is amazing. I think it has something to do with the altitude, and the weather is unpredictable (except in July, when it is hot and sunny with clear skies every day).

I just love it here. It's a great environment.
emma_weasley
I live in a lovely place called the United States. I won't say where, though. tongue.gif Anyways, I've lived in the same city for all my life and I rather like it. True, it gets really cold and nasty out in the winters, but if I lived somewhere that was warm all of the time, I have a feeling that I would get sick of it. The summers here are great and almost always warm-ish. We get lots of rain too, but everywhere gets rain sometimes, so it's no big deal.

Smiles,
Emma

Emma, good point. Here in Canada it's either really cold or really warm, but I would probably get really sick of living somewhere with the same temperature all year long! I'm quite happy here. smile.gif Lauren I used to live in the country, but we moved because... it was far from everything else. tongue.gif Now I live in a little town! Or city. Aaah, I dunno!
harry_potter_luvr_4life
I live in the United States. I would much rather live in the United Kingdom. I don't know why but I would.

I've never known why so many people want to live in the UK. I live here, and to tell you the truth, it's nothing special.

I mean, I LOVE being from Newcastle - it's a great place with great people and everything and I'm proud of my heritage, but it's not really anything special or different. I've actually never been to London even though I've lived in England since I was born but apparently it's dead scruffy so I'm not really bothered about going there.

The better places in England are outside the capital from what I can gather - Newcastle is really great, so is Leeds, Blackpool is okay - maybe a bit scruffy, Birmingham is nice too, and Scotland is a great place as well. I've been to just about everywhere in England other than London! I think people forget about places other than London!
Ignatius
I live in New Zealand! It's really creepy when you figure there are only 4.2 million people in our whole country, while in the northen hemishpere that would make a city! There are a lot of people in this world... tongue.gif . It's great here though because it's really green (Not now though, it's February), and you get loads of wildlife and stuff. I've always wondered about America, I mean (Gee, I'm going to sound really thick here), but does it get really confusing with all the accents? Can you tell who comes from which state? Its just that here we all have the same accent, and I've never been overseas.

This is basically more than you ever need to know about the most boring state in the United States.

I live in Nebraska (USA), and I have lived here all my life. Nebraska is pretty close to being right in the middle of the country. Basically in my town any way you turn there is a corn field and we are among the nations leaders in agriculture production.

We are often called the Cornhusker State because of our devotion to the University of Nebraska at Lincoln football team chiefly (even though they just had a terrible season) and most of their other sport teams.

Kool-aid was invented in Hastings, Nebraska by Edwin Perkins. Cliff Notes were invented in Rising City, Nebraska by Cliff Hillegass.

Famous People born in Nebraska include:
Warren Buffet-The richest man in the world
Gerald R Ford-The United States 38th President
Malcolm X- Civil Rights Advocate
Standing Bear-Indian Rights Advocate
Robert Cheney- Current US Vice president
Grover Alexander- baseball pitcher

Famous People who have lived in Nebraska include:
Johnny Carson- Once the host of the Tonight Show (and tv lands top tv icon of all time)
Ted Kooser- Two time poet laureate

Nebraska is home to the Qwest Center and we are currently hosting the US Olympic Swim Trials and in December will host the NCAA volleyball championship game.

Boys Town (now Boys and Girls Town) was founded in Nebraska by Father Flanagan.

Nebraska hosts the College World Series every year and we are building a new stadium so our contract can be renewed.

We have the Henry Doorly Zoo which is considered one of the best zoos in the country, it has the worlds largest indoor rain forest exhibit, worlds largest indoor desert exhibit, worlds largest nocturnal exhibit, a world class aquarium, and the zoo is adding an arctic exhibit, Madagascar exhibit, and possibly an outback exhibit.

Arbor Day was started in Nebraska City by Julius Sterling Morton.

Nebraska has the only unicameral government in the United States.

Chimney Rock is also found in Nebraska and Chimney Rock served as a landmark on the Oregon Trail and it appears on the Nebraska state quarter.

Lovely sunny (HAH!) England! Lived here all my life.. sad.gif

Wiltshire, South West .. I don't have a Wiltshire/"farmer" accent as my parents are Geordies (they're both from Newcastle) and I was born 'n' raised for 5 years in Stockport, Greater Manchester until we moved here a couple of months after my 5th birthday actually .. hmm.

Anyway, it's pretty boring here unless you like spending time being bored .. meh.

I also live in America. I live in Nashville, Tennessee, and have all of my life.
Just a few facts about Tennessee:
-The name "Tennessee" originated from the old Yuchi Indian word, "Tana-see," meaning "The Meeting Place."
-We are well known for our country music and the song "Rocky Top."
-It is home to president, Andrew Jackson and Andrew Johnson.
-Tennessee won its nickname as The "Volunteer State" during the War of 1812 when volunteer soldiers from Tennessee displayed marked valor in the Battle of New Orleans.
-Elvis Presley's home called Graceland is located in Memphis. Graceland is the second most visited house in the country.
- Nashville's Grand Ole Opry is the longest continuously running live radio program in the world. It has broadcast every Friday and Saturday night since 1925.

Well, I live in Latvia, I know, probably no one knows where is that biggrin.gif Well it's in Europe not far from big Russia biggrin.gif It's very small country actually. I know it sounds odd, but if someone really knows whats Latvia I would like to know how do you know that wink.gif
Few facts about Latvia -
- The capital and largest city is Riga.
- Population -December 2007 estimate only 2,270,700
- Maybe someone of you know band Brainstorm, well, they are from Latvia smile.gif

So, I think I won't move to other country, but if so, I would like to live in England smile.gif

Heyy, I know where Latvia is!* biggrin.gif - Though maybe because I live in Romania and I've just wanted to start explaining aswell... laugh.gif So I completely understand. At least you don't have to witness peoples' reactions when you tell them you're from Transylvania blink.gif

So, I live in Transylvania, which is in Romania, but I am Hungarian, as it used to be a part of Hungary (actually, all through history, the 2 countries have been always fighting for it) and quite a big part of the population is hungarian.

I know it is labeled balcanic (in the pejorative sense of the word). And there really are quite a lot of primitive or mannerless people, but they don't count biggrin.gif The place itself is great, and I like it (on the whole). Idiots can't spoil it. I currently live in North Dakota. In two weeks I move back to Montana. England would be great. I have thought about becoming a DOD (Department of Defense) teacher just in the hope that I would be assigned to Europe.

First off, why have you put European Countries in the poll as well as Europe?

The UK, Germany, Poland, France etc. are all European countries, yet you still have those and a European option?

Well, I'm sitting here watching Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? and I'm really bored so I thought I'd post on here (again tongue.gif ).

First off, Professor Nutbutter tell your mam and dad that they're mint for being Geordies tongue.gif we rock hard biggrin.gif

Secondly, I want to move away. I lo0ve Newcastle and it's proper mint and all that, but with the credit crunch and everything over here at the minute, the country is going downhill. I'm currently studying French at A-level and I'm planning on taking a gap-year over there after sixth form, and maybe I'll end up living there one day. Or maybe Italy, I went there earlier this year and I'd give anything to live in Venice, it's absolutely lush.

So back to the Toon (Newcastle tongue.gif ). Here's a few famous faces from the north east:
* Alan Shearer
* Ant and Dec
* Rowan Atkinson (Mr Bean)
* Cheryl Cole
* Brian Johnson (ACDC)
* Mark Knopfler (Dire Straits)

There's loads more but I won'tbore you anymore tongue.gif

Hello, All! Well, I live in a small town in Wisconsin (USA). Yes. The dairy state. You know what the funny thing is? I'm lactose intolerent. laugh.gif It's a pain having people saying "You have to eat cheese curds! You live in the dairy state!" Yes. VERY annoying. Well, I'm also a little protective of WI, just because I live here. I do not think that California is the next place for happy cows. We own that title till the end of time. What I really hate though is that in a small town, (ours is about 5000 people) everyone knows everyone's bussiness, and the local newspaper is horrible. We only have one reporter! Well, anyway, I also grew up in Washington D.C. (capital of USA), and a couple of towns in southern Illinois. Are there any other Wisconsinites here?

Haha the Americans are way out in front.

I am an Aussie. Love it here. I recommend it to be the place for holiday, to live, to retire. It's such a laid-back place and so isolated from the rest of the world. We don't catch on to things that quick wink.gif

But I'm a bit concerned with how "Americanised" we are getting. Don't get me wrong, America has good stuff about it, but I feel that for such a young country (we are only about 200 years old) that we should be focusing on creating and embracing our own culture rather than taking someone else's. But I also think that you can take different parts from other places to create a new culture.

I knwo how you feel. The german half of me is annoyed that english is creeping in everywhere - it's now normal to say in german 'ich gehe shoppen' instead of 'ich gehe einkaufen' which means 'I am going shopping'. I love the german language and find it really annoying that parts of the culture are slipping away. Scottish half of me is famililar with that too. Our culture has been trampled on by the english for centuries. No offence to english people, I like England a lot, but your ancestors haven't exactly been neighbours to be proud of.

I sadly, live in the United States, which is a suckish place. I live in West Virginia, and yes, we are a state ohmy.gif ! Some people are ignorant enough to think that we still are part of Virginia, so they call us "Western Virginia", which bugs me so much. It's really boring here. I wish I could go someplace better like New York(which I want to see some Broadway on) or England, Italy; oh, I hope to see tons of Europe once I get older.

If you've ever been to WV, you will know it's soooo boring here, but we're still just as normal as you are.

I live in Denmark, and it is not the capital in Germany, though I speak german fluently. I really like Denmark, but I feel a little limited here, so my plans are to move the United States. Unlike you mugglelovrspew, I find it The Promised Land (sort of). The society in Denmark is doing pretty amazing, so I'll have a bigger chance of changeing the US society to something better (I think). I have already seen most of Europe, so my plan is to see most of America too!!

Siruislyinlove, I am very jealous of you smile.gif

I have always wanted to go to New Zealand and feel like I should because it's so close to Australia. My mother went in the '70s and said that she had never seen more beautiful lakes mountains and that you could go boating and the water would be crystal clear.

I hope to go there and maybe make it my holiday place. I love hiking and I really love the forest scenery (You know how people are either Beach, Forest or Snow people? I'm a forest person).
hedwig91
I'm an Australian, and I have no wish to live permanently anywhere else in the world. I mean, I still want to visit other countries, but I like where I live most of the time (except right now, we're having really really bad bushfires. One of my favourite towns is destroyed sad.gif )
I'm not too fussed on my accent, though. I don't think I'd like it if I was from somewhere else in the world, but as I've grown up with it it's ok.
I think I'm a forest person too, Angelinanerd. I love walking home after school because I get to walk through a patch with lots of gum trees, it's really nice.
Might meet some of you guys in another country one day!

Hi everyone, I live in the U.S. in the state of Massachusetts. I only noticed one other person from my state on this thread, Miss Meghan Lou, and we live pretty close to each other. I just moved to Haverhill last year. I've always lived in Massachusetts, but I've moved around from a few different cities. They're all pretty much the same though. I really like living in New England. I like being so close to the ocean, but also close to Boston, and we can get to the quiet country-ish parts of New England in an hour or so. The weather is total crap right now, but I love the spring, and the summer, and autumn is my favorite. I even like the winter-at the beginning!

Witchmom, I haven't seen you on here in a while, but I read that you live in Sicily. My father is from Catania and my grandfather lived in Achi Reale until he passed away about ten years ago. I've visited a few times and I love it. The beaches, the history, the FOOD! laugh.gif
Please say "HI" to Taormina for me! It's so beautiful there.

Lisa
HarryPotterIsLife
Lisasnape, make that two! I live in Massachusetts also! I live maybe twenty/thirty minuets away from Boston in a very small town nobody knows about tongue.gif Except, we do have one of the nicest schools in the US, and Bush even mentioned my school once, so maybe we are kind of known?

When I get out of high school (which I graduate next year,2010!) I want to travel abroad and maybe go to school in Europe. Anywhere, I don't care. But mostly a school in Britian, because I love British culture, and my English teacher studied abroad in Britian when she was in school, and loved it. So I think it'd be so fun, and an expierence.
I'd also LOVE to live in Austrailia. My Marine Bio teacher lived there for two years and all the pictures and videos she's shown us ... I'm in love. Everyone seems so fun and laid back, and it's a gorgeous place. Maybe when my dad retires in a million years I can convince him to move there, somewhere near the beach.

But, a little about where I live: In a nutshell, we can go from 60 degrees farheneight to 20 degrees and snowing in less than three hours. For example, the last two days have been high fifties and a little windy, but nice enough to pull out the flip flops. And between 10:30 PM last night and this morning, the cold front came in. Now there's two inches of snow on the ground, and we're expecting another foot and a half. Hopefully not that much, the meteorologists never seem to get the weather right. But, our spring, summer and fall is the only reason why I wouldn't ever pack up and move to Florida where it's warm all year. We have such a nice summers and the spring and fall is gorgeous! I just hate trudging through the snow, espically when my school district never calls off school shutup.gif
lisasnape
HarryPotterIsLife, Hooray, another Bay Stater! I have a feeling I might know where you live if your hint about having one of the nicest schools in the U.S. is the school that came into my mind. If so, we're practically neighbors. I grew up in Lawrence, about a 5 minute drive from the school that I'm thinking of. I always wanted to go there, but my parents said no way, too expensive! Anyway, maybe my guess is wrong, but I'm glad to know someone else is watching the snow falling too!

Talk to you soon on some of the other threads we both post on!

ENGLAND!!!! YEAH!

Ok so I live in a town called Beaconsfield, a very old quiet little town with a huge woods which I practically live in. Its in England, in the county of Buckinghamshire to be precise, a few hours drive from London at the most. There are loads of schools here and personaly I think I go to the best.
