As we all know, ootp has the most pages out of the whole hp series so far. In an ideal world the whole book would be the movie, but as we all know that cannot happen. So which scenes would you not mind being removed?

I think the train ride. This book is the longest yet, and I don't really want any bit to be cut out. I could survive if they cut out the train part. I'm not exactly fond of Luna anyways. Since they did cast the Dursleys and Luna those two scence are probably going to be in the movie. Grawp is probably going to be there too, I think he will play a mjor part in the last book of the series. My vote went to the Train ride to Hogwarts.

I voted for Grawp. . .I just think he's the most pointless of all of it. Well, I can see the train ride being kind of unnecessary as far as scenes go (I suppose we can be introduced to Luna later), but I like it in there. Yep, my vote is for Grawp. I think they can find another way to keep the centaurs from attacking the kids, and we can assume that Hagrid's late return was because he was having trouble with the giant's enough
without Grawp complicating the matter. I would like to see Trelawney's fit (though do we know if Thompson has been approached to reappear?)
Can I just remain stupidly optimistic that they'll keep every single detail?

i voted grawp cause i relly hate huge ugly creatures. I imagine him like the trol in SS so i wouldn't mind not seeing him in the film

For lack of a better choice, I chose the train ride. If I'm remembering right (doubtful) nothing interesting happens on it. Still, I think that if one of those choices had to be taken out, it would be the train ride. I would be sad though.

I wanna delete the scene of Dursley's,but i think they can delete that train scene, because they also delete the train scene from the Goblet Of Fire movie.

i said to delete proffesor trewany's fit. i really dont remeber that in the book.

i dont see why you guys dont want grawp in the movie. he was a pretty important caracator in the book i thought. oh well.
sorry for the spelling mistakes, i am just really tired

I guess I wouldn't mind so much if they left Grawp out...
I wish they would just make a 10 hour version of the movie though. You know, like one that is 3 hours for the "i-got-dragged-here-by-my-girlfriend" people, and one 10-hour version for the hardcore fans...
Think if I asked WB "pretty please", they would say yes?

I wouldn't mind if they left out Grawp because he was pointless, didn't do much and was just a waste of time in OOTP. He didn't play any significant role in the book whereas all the other things listed did.

I would really hate it if they have to remove a lot of scenes, but I know they are going to do that. I would have to say I wouldn't mind so much with Professers Trewany's fit, but I don't remeber it that much either. I bet it would have been funny though, to me that is.

Well, the only one we don't really need is Professor Trelawny's fit. Everything else is needed, since you know, one thing leads to another.

[font=Areal Black][size=4] I think the Train should go if something has to. The rest is important to the story. Although they should obviously keep Luna because without her the movie will be to serious [i](and they alredy cast her).

i think they should get rid of Grawp because i love the other scenes you put up them are really good one and i think i want all of them in the movie and i really want to see the DA and the Quidditch season because of ron is playing quidditch now so that is cool.

For Grawp
...is just that... i don't know... I don't think he's that important... and it doesn't matter if he is cut, he doesn't appear much in the book and in the 6th he only appears in the end.... and I don't think they should cut the quidditch game since a HP movie without flying brooms is just not the same.

Career counselling, Grawp would have to be there because in the Centaur bit, which they need, Grawp chases 'em away, so yah.

I wouldn't mind them deleting the train ride to Hogwarts scene.I like the Grawp scene and all the other scenes a lot.So if i had to pick one to cut that scene would be it.I think the rest of the scenes are needed in the movie.

the grwap chapters anoyed me in the book. i actually skip them now when i am re-reading the book. but i think that they will leave it in because it is important in the way that umbridge goes down.

It would seriously be a shame to remove any of those scenes. Afterall, they are what make HP so magical. But I gues the Grawp scene can be eliminated, as long as all the others stay! I'm not that looking forward to seeing Hagrid's half giant brother, but I am looking forward to seeing everything else!

I would have to say (pardon my spelling) Quiditch. I mean ive read they arn't putting it in soive gotton used to it. bu ti would totaly be devistated if they cut those other scenes out.

To be honest, I couldn't vote for any of them because I loved every single part of OotP. Career counseling was so ammusing to me. And Grawp is important to Hagrid, and I think they will show that in the 7th book, so if they cut it then add it it would be confusing. Prof. Trelawny's fit was so funny to me and I want to see it played out on screen. The Dursley's (no matter how horrible they are) are really important in Harry's life becuase of his mother's protection. The centuar's defeated Umpridge! Who wouldn't want to see her downfall? The train ride is always a classic and it would be sad to see it go. The hearing is so important because Harry almost gets thrown out of Hogwarts! (How terrible would that be??) The dementor attack is the reason for the hearing so if they keep the hearing they have to keep the dementors! The DA is such and important element of Ootp! They couldn't possibly cut it! And I'm pretty positive that no one wants to see the Quidditch season go. (Although as sad as it is I think it will

)
Oh how I wish movies didn't have time (and whatever else) restrictions.

I voted for the Quidditch Season - much as I love the quidditch footage the rest of the list is needed and although it is Rons debut year in the book, because Harry, Fred and George all got a lifetime ban from Umbridge Quidditch wouldn't be the same without them anyway.

it was hard to choose, but i chose to cut the grawp scene out of Ootp. i didn't really find him that interesting and it really itsn't really a major part of the book, so i think it could be cut out without loosing a big part of the film. i heard that they aren't having any quidditch in the Ootp, which im really sad about. i really like quidditch, and its a big deal that harry got banned from the team and that ginny and ron joined the team. im dissapointed that quidditch isn't in it and i'd rather see the grawp scene go than quidditch.

I chose the Dementor attck (even though I know it's in the movie . oh well. ) becuase when I read the book I didn't really enjoy it that much , only when Harry was taunting Dudley , they wouldnt really be any other way to strat the movie though , so I guess I'll live . I see that most people would like Grawp cut , but im looking forward to that part if it's in OOTP

All the scenes are important in their ways... because they will mostly appear something relate to grawp or something else in the next books, so they will have to do it.
I am looking forward for the movie

i didnt vote
they all have to be there
they cut out so many scenes in GoF that were crucial in the upcoming movies for ppl who havent read the books
so they should keep all the scenes
and the longer the better right?

I picked Grawp, it seems to be the most popular choice too. Grawp does seem pretty pointless, and nothing too amazing happens in that scene that I really care to watch. But as we now know they've left Grawp in the film, and really they didn't have a choice, who knows if he will be important in book seven.

I chose Grawp... Though I know it will
maybe be in the movie, as I saw a small behind-the-scene of Hagrid waving and calling up at an imaginary Grawp... so.. but yes, I think it would be a waste of time.. he's not a significant character, is he? It would then be no point to have him in the movie... I only thought the part in the book where he called Hermione "Hermy" cute!
As for the train scene, well I think it would be great to introduce Luna like that, and perhaps throw in Neville with the Mimbulus mimbletonia plant. haha That was a good laugh!
And I think they should just cut the Hearing short, as it was rather long and dreary in the book.

My vote is for Grawp. Out of all the choices his is the most unnecessary - its a shame that quidditch has been cut out of the film - i would haveloved to see the fight between fred/george and harry vs Draco

If you look on the cast list on imdb it has pictures of the trewlany fit; the dersleys; the train ride; the hearing[in trailer]; to have the hearing they must have the dementor attack; the da is deffinitly in there. They have the voice of Grawp on the cast list. The only things I havn't heard of is the quidditch season. But they always have a quidditch game or two. I don't think they'd cancel it.

I could do without Gwarp. I honestly don't know why, but to me it's similar to Hermione and her S.P.E.W club/organization. It was silly and demeaned her as a Character. IMHO, it made her a bit of a Goody-Goody and I skipped over those parts in the books. The same went for the chapter about Gwarp.

i'd remove the Grawp scene from the movie, because when i was reading it in the book;i personally thought it was very boring.no lie!
the only one he'll ever want
Mar 24 2007, 06:52 AM
I'm definitely with everyone else out there who wants a fifteen hour movie, but in a real world where time, money, and teenage actors growing up too fast, there are undoubtedly going to be some cut scenes.
I'd have to go with Grawp as my first choice... now that I think about it, he's just not especially important to the plot of the fifth book, and he is hardly mentioned (if at all) in the sixth.
However, according to Wikipedia, Grawp is going to be in the movie... in that case, I'd have to go with the majority of the Quidditch season. As the series goes on, Harry's interest in Quidditch peaks around the third and fourth books, and then slowly dies out to next to nothing in the sixth... I'll be somewhat surprised if it plays any role at all in the seventh book.
I suppose you could take out the train ride, but the things that occur there are somewhat important... we find out that the prefects are treated well above the rest, we are introduced to Luna and The Quibbler, we have the scene where Malfoy suggests that he knows that Sirius has come out of hiding ("Well, just watch yourself, Potter, because I'll be dogging your footsteps in case you step out of line." page 194) in addition to finding out that he is a prefect, there is the instance in which Cho comes in and Harry is embarrassed by the Stinksap mess created by Neville's mimbulus mimbletonia, and the shock that the trio experiences when Hagrid is not assembling the first years. That said, I think the Quidditch season would be better to downplay/remove than the train ride.

This was hard. I wouldnt care if Grawp wasn't in, but I choose Quidditch in the end. I just don't feel like I would miss it, they weren't my favourite scenes in the other movies. However, I do feel it might be needed in this one, even though its already decided there not, like Fred and George and Harry's ban. In the 6th movie, Quidditch will be needed as Harry is made Quidditch captain.

I voted for Grawp because he was a pointless part of the book and had no real significance. It would be a real waste of time to add him in the movie
would also not mind if they removed the quidditch season because it was not very important other then the fact that Fred,George and Harry were banned.

i wanted to pick BOTH career counseling and prof. trelawney's fit, but i figured career counseling was kind of useless....but i wouldnt mind f either of them got cut out...
since the DA, grawp, the centaur incident, and the hearing are all important to the plot...i would be really mad if those were cut out.....
i have to say i dont really care about the train ride, either...

hard question!
i think i went with Grawp because it stole the limelight of bigger things i think.... only i dont think that they should get rid of the career counseling scene because thats how you find out about what they need on owls, which leads to some other things in HBp ((i dont want to spoil))

i think the Grawp thing too. i mean it's all good and well that Hagrid found his brother, but it's not really neccessary, and there are bigger better things going on that need to be left in.

I chose the scene with Grawp. However, if he is crucial to DH or what happens after DH, then it should be left in. But if he isn't important to future events, then I don't have a problem with him being cut from the movie.
If Grawp is important, my second choice would have to be Quiddich season. It isn't important to the plot although it does add a bit of relief from the "tense" scenes. I'd like to see "Weasley is our King"!! But like I said, it isn't important like most of the other choices.

I chose career counseling. Everything else seemed to have to do something with the story. Career counseling wouldn't really have an effect if it got cut out.
