J.K. Rowling said something about seeing more of Blaise Zabini. I know that only pure bloods r aloud in the slytherin house but maybe there was a mistake and he is the half blood prince. I dont remeber him being mentioned in other books so maybe somebody could tell me what part he played. Tell me what u think

That's not a bad idea. Zabini Blaise could be the Half Blood Prince, we don't know his background. Do you have any more theories about this?

Blaise Zabini is mentioned in one sentence in the very first HP book, when the sorting hat is calling out names. It only says his name and what house he goes into.
And I've never seen it said that only pure-bloods were allowed into Slytherin. Come on, Voldemort was a Slytherin and he isn't a pure-blood. So Blaise could be a half-blood.
I doubt he's the HBP though.
Most fans don't really know him but people who (like me) that are addicted to fanfic know of him, because there are a lot of fics with him in it. I, myself, have wrote a fic with him in it.
I can't wait to see more of this character, even if he is a Slytherin.

lol, how would you expect someone who's mentioned once in book 1 to coem back? is he gonna be importatn? or do we not know?

I do not see Blaise being a character of importance. He was mentioned once in book 1, so to me, he is a new character. I do not see the point of introducing such a useless character into the mix this late in the series. It is a time for answers, not new ones to arise. With the addition of a character from out of the blue, it would do nothing but raise more questions, unless of course, practically the whole book is about him. Which the answer to that is best put by Mr. Ollivander, "Nope, no, definately not!" JKR has painted a picture of the characters in Slytherin. Unless she didnt want us to think along the lines that we do of Slytherin, she would have given him at least a brief mention. I do think that there has to be at least 1 decent Slytherin, but why start all this now...I think that the HBP is somebody that we already kno, but haven't pin pointed it yet; however, that is for a completely different discussion.

hmm, you know its weird, i just automatically think all slytherin's are bad....but harry was almost put in slytherin. why havent we met any decent ones yet? thats weird isnt it, there has to be at least ONE....is there some sinister plot about? like maybe voldemort BRAINWASHING all the slytherin's (im joking)

*smiles* I was once in a Yahoo group that was something about nice slytherins...

Saying all this, Blaise can be a girl's name too *I considered it for my baby...*..was it ever mentioned that Blaise Zabini was actually male?

does anyone have any other theories involving blaise? (that don't involve the HBP

)

Well....Zabini wasn't a name of any of the Death Eaters, was it? So that rules him out of the evil-family-line thing....If JKR says we'll be seeing more of him....hmm....I'm not sure, but I don't think JKR's really the kind of person who says: "all people in this group are evil"...well, obviously for example DE's, but they've chosen their path....and as pretty much none of the Slytherins have been shown as having any particularly redeeming qualities, and perhaps it's time for a change? *shrugs*

I, personally, don't have a problem with another character "showing up outa the blue." I've always liked his name and then I've read fanfic, so yeah, he's not really a new character to me. But for some he is. But I don't see any problems with putting him into the story now. He could just be a new friend of Draco's or he could be one of the decent Slytherins y'all guys were talking about. That would be cool. He might not even bring any new questions are whatever with him when he appears. He might just be there like Pansy is. Nothing mysterious about it. No problems with it, you know. (And yes I am talking mosty to Ultima) I just like new characters.
As for theories, I think he could be just another Slytherin cronie to Draco or something along those lines. Though I'd really like him to be good and not bad, but then again I want everyone to be good. lol.
Still can't wait to see what his part will be in all this.

Mmm...a good Slytherin...that's an interesting idea. But then again, the qualities that make a Slytherin...cunning, use any means to achieve their ends, ambitious, thirst to prove themselves...
I don't know...don't sound like very nice people, do they? People like that can be a bit cold, hard, ruthless and even selfish...

Well, I'm finally glad to know Blaise's gendar, lol. (I used to RPG and it was weird to talk to a male Blaise in one place, then female in another)
Anywho, I ran a search on the meaning of his name, since JKR is famous for having a name relate to the character... and this is what I found.
BLAISE m
Usage: French
Pronounced: BLAYZ
From the Roman name Blasius which meant "lisping" from Latin blaesus. A famous bearer was Blaise Pascal, a mathematician and philosopher from France.
Hmm, well, lol, that could be the reason we never heard of him before.. A lisping Slytherin, hmm. And came up with something close somewhere else:
NAME Blaise
ORIGIN French [767]
MEANING Lisp; stutter. Blaise Pascal was a brilliant seventeenth century child prodigy; mathematician; scientist and philosopher who invented the calculating machine and hydraulic press before dying at age thirty-nine. [7]
I couldn't come up with results for Zabini anywhere... so what we have to work with name was is that our Blaise could have some sort of lisp or stutter, I doubt he's a child prodigy- that's Hermione's role, lol... And he's probably rather good in math, so Hermione might actually know of him from her Arthimancy class.

That would be really cool if Hermione knew of him from her Arithmancy class. And it would be cute, his stuttering or lisping. But then again we've already had a stuttering character. *coughsQUIRRELcoughs* Anyway.
I'm also incredibly glad to know the gender of Blaise and how to pronounce the name, cause me and Bellatrix have been saying it wrong and probably will continue to say it wrong. lol.

It is possible he's the half blood prince. But who knows.
Yea like Jeff said sirius was mentioned in ss/ps and look at him now. Hagrid had said he borrowed the bike from sirius. Even the motorbike is going to be mentioned again. I don't think anything is wrong with him having a large part this late. Scabbers even got a bigger part. He was Ron's rat and now we see he's really an animagus by the name of Peter Pettigrew who works for Voldemort. His role may get larger. Even if Blaise isn't the HBP he will have a bigger part from a sentance about him. Maybe he is a good Slytherin. I mean being ambitious doesn't mean your evil. But I guess we'll have to to find out who Blaise Zabini really is.

I don't know if he's the HBP, the only reason we might see more of him is because of the second war starting, so it would be only obvious we'd see more Slytherins. He was only in one line of SS/PS, and nothing else. I don't think he'd come into his own so much, so late in the series. That would just be WEIRD. You know? Eh, but that's my two cents.

Sirius was only mentioned in one line also. So it doesn't really matter when Blaise comes into the story or how late.
Of course I just want to see more of this character so...yeah

Yeah I don't see why it'd be too late to inrtoduce him...I mean, Luna was introduced only in the 5th book, and she's pretty key...
And if JKR says we'll be seeing more of him, then I believe her...But I don't think really he's the Half Blood Prince, but I think there'll be more to his apearance than like "Yeah, you're stupid, Potter!!" Said Blaise Zabini, and that be it, anyway...
LuciusMalfoy
Sep 3 2004, 05:24 PM
Right on, Nivaya. lol.
I do think he'll have more than another one liner. At least I hope lol. No, JKR said we'd see more of him and we will.
But I don't think he's the HBP either. I don't know why, but I just don't think he is.
