Well, I have to confess that I was one of those who believe that HP is evil and can influence children away from God. That was very early for me to judge the book and the film though I have not read them yet that time.
When I saw the movie, it was awesome. That is the start and I tried to search and read the HP boks and found out that it is not evil. It actually point us to whom love originated...

Seriously boring. Actually I guess the better term is bliss. I was really little. So I didn't really read much of anything. But I did like reading, I just hadn't read THE book yet.

Mod Note: Can I just remind everyone that one liners and short posts are not permitted on the forums. There is a reason for it and it's explained clearly in the rules, which if yu need to remind yourself of can be found through the link in my signature. That said...there was life before Harry Potter??
Oh yes I remember. That would be when I used to cook 3 course meals everyday. I used to do ironing all day long and would polish the toilet bowl at night. Those were the days when my house was so clean you could eat off the floor. The days before Veritaserum
Life was pretty dull before Harry Potter.

I was in love with DOLPHINS!!! Don't get me wrong, I still love dolphins. I have a dolphin patronus. But Harry Potter has taken over my life. I won't complain!!!

I started to read the series in september of my fifth year in school. At first when it was suggested, I was like "Oh boy, another class reading assignment". Yet it quickly developed into the most influential book series I've ever read.
Just to clarify, I'm now a freshman in college and still an avid HP fan. I'm happy to say that this book series has not only effected me positively, but changed the way I think about life. Life before HP simply put, was very DIFFERENT.

Life before Harry Potter...

Well...this is indeed shameful for me to admit, but I have to say this. I started HP in decembet 2006!!!

Yes...that's true.
I used to think that it involves only fiction related to some magic tricks and stuff like that. But ofcourse I was wrong. It was during my holidays that I saw the first movie by chance. The scene where Ron and Harry save Hermione did it all for me...I found it really good and since then there was no turning back. I bought all the six books the very next day and read them in a week.
Before HP I used to read many other books. I was always into reading. I can't just live without reading any thing a single day. I used to read lots of books- the funny 'inscrutable americans', the medical thrillers of Robin Cook, the shrewd 'Perry Mason' by Erle Stanley Gardener, the mysteries of Nancy and Hardys, the thrillers of Sidney Sheldon, even the lazy James Hadley Chase, the philosophical Ayn Rand, the different Dan Brown...and the list goes on...Basically I was into reading no doubt, but I never did nor did I encourage others to read HP....and how very wrong I was...!!!
But after HP my life has changed a lot. I find more importance of friendship, loyalty and trust in my life now. The power of love indeed exists, that is what I believe after HP...

Uhh, life before Harry Potter, how cruel that must have been..
Well, I was 7 when I read the first book, so luckily I havn't gone around for that long without it. I actually don't have many clear memories about that. I think I was a great Disney fan, and read a lot of H.C. Andersen. I really read a lot, I've been doing that since I was five, so I've always been into reading. Sadly, lately it's most school stuff I have time to read

I can't really say that I dropped anything when I got into Harry Potter. I still read tons of books I did before and am still obsessed with other things. Before Harry Potter, I didn't have deep discussions with siblings about what was going to happen in the next book or freak out when the movie was coming out the next month, but I'm not going to say life wasn't fun. Harry Potter's just added to it. In a big way.
BUT! If I was to say before VTM, I'd say my life internet wise was so boring! If it wasn't for VTM, I probably wouldn't be online half as much as I am. It's a good thing, right?

Before HP, I was like 10 years old, and as I've been always such a bookworm, I read everything you could think of --text books related mostly to sciences and nature, novels, classics, cartoons, medieval and greek legends, and more -- but didn't have an obssesion. When PS was released, at first I was like 'Arrgh!' because I had never heard about it and so I was like 'What a childish stuff!', and now I'm ashamed of that

That summer, I went to my grandparents' and my godmother took my sister, my cousins and I to the cinema; we had an argument because I found more interesting Monsters Inc.!!!! They finally convinced me about going to HP, and now I thank them with all my heart!!! And I think if they knew now that they were the reason of my obssesion, they would regret it
My life is far happier and more interesting now!

Well to be quiet honest, I didn't get into Harry Potter until June 2007!! Before then I could never get into the books, but I loved to read. And before then I never watched the movies, but I watched every other kind of movie out there. LOL! I've been trying to figure out how old I was when Harry Potter first came out. But after reading the first book I couldn't stop reading the series. LOL! But before, I was a normal kid who went to school, watched TV, played outside, read the occasional book. Before reading the Harry Potter series I was really into "A Child Called 'IT'" and then anything written by Dave Pelzer! I had actually come home from college when I first read the first book and now I will be going back into college here real soon and I have read the entire series 2 or 3 times. And I have already asked my mom to buy me the 6th movie when it comes out! LOL! And interestingly enough...she said she would! YAYA!

I don't think I had a life before Harry Potter, I was only 8 when I read PS so I didn't exactly have "a life" and was just going to school, coming home, watching tv, having dinner and going to bed
Harry Potter has changed my life though, for the better!

Well, this isn't my moment of pride, but honestly, I was one of THEM. You know, the hollister obsessed, Jonas Brother Loving, Country music, life is worry and stress free people. Well, maybe not that, just I tried to fit in with them. I had heard of Harry Potter, and then I would've thought someone like myself was extremely weird.
One day, my friend called me and asked me if I wanted to go see Harry Potter 5 with her. I didn't really have anything to do, so of course I went. After that, I was hooked. Coincidently, I went to my grandmother's house and found that someone had given her the seventh Harry Potter book as a gift. I decided to read it, and even though I didn't understand EVERYTHING (at this point the only Harry Potter related material I had was the 5th movie), I absolutely LOVED it. So, then, my friend who is an experienced Harry Potter (haha, my analogies are quite strange) and I had a movie night where I watched all of the Harry Potter movies. I loved those too, so then I read all of the books, and the seventh one over again. Ever since then, I have been obsessed. I have managed to finally collect all the books in hard back, because until yesterday I still had Harry Potter 4 in paperback. Now, I can't imagine life without Harry Potter.

Before Harry Potter? Hmm...I've always been a bibliophile, so HP didn't exactly introduce me to the wonderful world of reading.

I guess it introduced me to more "popular" literature because I think before HP, what I really loved to do was reread
The Grapes of Wrath. (I was/am very strange.

) I suppose it also got me more interested in series. Before HP, the only series I really read was Redwall. And I LOVE Redwall.

Talking mice and squirrels and badgers and otters and hedgehogs and...*trails off* I always wondered at the first one, though, because it seemed like there were humans there, with the mention of the farm and the cat (when talking about the depredations of Cluny the Scourge and his horde), but then in later books, it seemed like it was solely a world populated by talking animals. Just something I always wondered about...
But anyways, that's what I was into before HP. Anything and everything!

Before Nevillesgirl introduced me to HP, I was pretty much the guy that did anything but read. I mean I read what I had to to get through college classes but other than that not so much.Ever since I started reading and finishing the series, I have read all four books of the Twilight series and have reread books one and two of HP. I figured that I can only get smarter about HP by joining VTM and rereading the books over and over.

I read harry potter after all the books were out, so most of my life was potterless (besides the movies). I read a lot of Neil Gaiman, Coraline and the Graveyard Book are my favorites, but he wrote alot of cool stuff. I am still reading a series that I've been with for a bit of time. It's called the Inheritance Cycle by Christopher Paolini. They made a really bad movie after the first book, but the books have run a bit dry themselves.

I was into Pokemon. I still do like to play those games on a gamboy or to even watch the DVD's, but I don't like how they have all these new pokemon. I just can't keep up
And I was really into the Magic Tree House books or even Junie B Jones. Good times, good times.

I don't really know what books I was into before Harry Potter. I probably wasn't that big on leisure reading back then... I had no problem reading assigned books but I was never one to come into my bedroom, pick out a book, and read when I didn't have to.

My only life before Harry Potter was...being born...speaking...walking (and any variations i.e., skipping, running, jogging, etc, etc) my sister was born, I had stared pre-school,and I was to start Junior Kindergarten in a few months. I was only 4 when it was introduced into my life, it's what I grew up with.

I was a fan of LOTR (Lord of the Rings for all you n00bs), for years before I actually started to actively participate in the HP fandom. My love for LOTR hasn't at all diminished, only grown, and the same with my love for HP. But then there is a fandom that I took on later than HP, only a few months ago actually, and that's the Star Trek fandom. Perhaps the largest (and nerdiest) fandom in the world, it's all so amazing! So, I am one person, and an equally large part of the three biggest fandoms on earth.

before HP, I was into VC Andrews' novels- and still is, and also Goosebumps and Fear Street Saga. I was also a huge fan of Sweet Valley novels. I love books so I read all kinds.
