Well, I'm not sure about how was my life before meet Harry. I was a bit young when I read the first book. I was about 9 or 10 years, I dunno... I just remeber I used to watch Sailor Moon, Pokemon and another cartoons... Honestily, my life was a bit bored, LOL.

Hmmmm, life before Harry Potter? Well I read and read and read, just about anything I could get my hands on. Loved Goosebumps books and Star Trek, but never read a series till HP.

I don't remember what I did before I started reading HP. Like maia_potter, I was somewhere around 10, maybe even younger. If I could guess though, I was probably glued to the TV getting fat! haha

Well...when I was younger I was obsessed with The X-Files from the time it started until the end. I still love it, if I catch it on tv I'll watch. and the X-file books are what got me into reading but like someone else said I just started reading HP too so theres been a lot of things I've been "into" (to many to name!) before I found HP and right now while I'm waiting for DH to come out I'm reading MobyDick....it's actually really good!

Well it's really difficult to remember that far back but i do remember that Harry Potter kickstarted me into a reading nerd. I do remember that I was really into the Boxcar Children series and liked the Star Wars movies. Pretty sad life wouldnt you say?

I was never into books before Potter. I never read, just sat and played video games like a couch potato, eating potato chips. But now I read any book before me, my grades have gone up, I am a lot happier.

Life before Harry.. Hmm that's kind of hard. I was really into the Lemony Snicket books. I was also really into the Lord of the Rings. I still am kinda. I own all of the movies. But i just can't read the books. HP is much more interesting.

Sports of all kinds, basketball and soccer mostly. I read the Series of Unfortunate Events books, and come to think of it i havent read the last book of that series yet... Also pokemon was huuuuge in elementary school. I loved it hah.

There was no life before Harry Potter. Well Harry Potter was there but my life wasn't there until Harry Potter came trotting in.
Before Harry Potter I was interested in Disney! (Bit childish) okay alot childish!! Well I went abroad this disney cruise and then I got interested in it. I used to watch animated movies.
I wasn't much into books until I started HP. I used to read Fear Street. And still do. But when I started HP I changed my lifestyle a lot. I was very lazy but now my ears prick up at any sentence including anything related to HP. I'm now a bookworm. I guess we all are. Now I'm reading all those huge huge novels by Charles Dickens and other European authors.

well i used to play sports and stuff and i still do that hasnt changed but i didnt read much before harry potter read but not nearly as much or as hard books pokemon was big in gr 3 i think maybe gr 4 lol

I can't even wrap my mind around that what were I doing some years before, when I didn't spend all this time reading HP books and related fanfiction and so on, but if we are talking about other books and movies, I was into LotR. But that still hasn't changed, it's just that there aren't anything more to the story to add, not even movies to make. So it's different, of course.

Well, I wasn't really into reading, and I watched Disney Cahnnel, Nick, and Animal Planet all the time. I was also really into the Neopets site! Lol! But I am still pretty much the saem, excepts If I hear soemone talk about Harry Potter, I atuomaticaly want to talk to them! I still act, sing, and write, just not poems, instead HP fanfics! I don't really watch TV as much, I am more into the computer. But I used to after I discovered HP, go on Neopets, and make Harry Potter guilds, and be friends with all the HP fans! LOL! Until I found VTM that is..

Before Harry Potter....
I was a workaholic before Harry, all I ever did was work and take care of buisness. Then I had my children..three beautiful boys, so life has been a little crazy.
I have always been a big movie buff and a rabid reader..But I like most of my friends thought the HP series was for kids so I held off on reading the books...when GOF came out and LV returned I couldnt wait to find out what was going to happen in the next movie...but I couldnt wait... so I finally broke down and bought the book and when I read it I realized that the book was way better than the movies had been so far...no offense to anyone but I prefer to read the books I get to imagine my own movie...Then I relized how much I missed by only watching the movies so I went and bought the rest of the books I took my two days off and read the first three books and then on my next two days off I read books four and five and last but not least I took HBP with me to work cause I couldnt help myself and I read it on two serperate shifts. Now I have read the entire series a total of three times, in the last year since I bought the books and I still cant get enough they have a word for people like me....nuts. So I guess it would be safe to say besides my children, Before I became a Herry potter addict there wasnt much to life for me.

Before Harry I really liked Anne Rice (I had a 12th grade reading level in 6th grade, leave me alone.) I loved Star Wars,Disney movies and just books in general were the most important things in me life.

Before I began reading the Harry Potter books I was stuck inside other books mainly by Jaquiline Wilson and Enid Blyton but then I just got bored of reading the books I had over and over again so I played outside with my mates more but I got bored of that too and then. . . the Harry Potter books came! My hero I was saved. . .
But then I stared secondary school and theres no time for reading the books, no. Hardly anytime to do anything. . .

Studying.Yes,it was only study,studt,study..When Harry came,Iwas woken up from my daily routine and started going deeper into the world of books..Other than studies,my pastime would be watching films..Hp had inspired me to read other books.Before that,I hated books!!

I was really into Sailor Moon, you know, the anime with the scantily clad schoolgirls and unrealistically strange hairdos?

As for books, I was into the Chronicles of Narnia and just about everything to do with unicorns. Balinor, the Unicorn Chronicles, I even read books about just plain horses, like Black Beauty and The Godolphin Arabian.

I still love that Chronic- (what?) -cles of Narnia!
But Harry Potter is better.

I'm not sure that I was in to anything in particular.
But I did like to watch Disney Channel which I still do. another thing I did was not read I hated reading. But Harry potter Came and changed everything There is never a time that I don't have anything that has to do with harry potter.

Well, I was quite young when the first book came out and I was reading mainly short Novels, but My dad read some to me and I read some myself and when the first movie came out I went to see it and then I got REAAAAAAAAAAAAAALY Crazy about it. but I guess before that, I liked the Star Wars movie. Life before HP? I don't think that I had a life before I read the books . My brothers joke that I don't have a life now that I've read them and am caught on this site all the time! My life before HP was basically me reading a lot of wannabe books, there were a few great books here and there, but nothing that I really loved and could relate to. I did lots of homework and played sports...still do, but I don't study as much as I should . After I read HP, I was/am immersed in a whole new world of magic..and new characters. That sounds pretty lame, like one of those commercials about I your life will be better once you have or do a certain thing.. .

I was into E Nesbit, Shakespeare, Joseph Conrad, and others.

Hhhmmm, before Harry Potter I don't think there was anything I was overly in to. I'm a tad bit HP obsessive and I don't think there was anything before it in my life that came anywhere close to how in love with I am with these books (and subsequent movies).

I really only got into Harry Potter in high school, so in primary school the types of books I read were stuff like the Goosebumps series, and anything written by Paul Jennings and Henry Denker - two extremely different authors.

I was also very into my school work. I used to be a straight A student haha. I'm not saying I blame Harry Potter for my fall in grades... (I mainly blame finally having a social life for that!) but I reckon it probably added to it I guess I decided there were more important things in life than being top at school (probably not the best attitude for someone studying in university to be a high school teacher...).

So yes! Goosebumps, Paul Jennings, Henry Denker, studying. That was my life before Harry Potter.

I wanted nothing to do with Harry Potter at first. My mum read the book to me in first grade or kindergarden, but I kept falling asleep, so she gave up reading it to me. Then the day before 7th grade I started reading the first book, I found it in my parent's room and read it that day to pass time. From then on I loved the books. The 6th had already come out, so I just read all of them and the extra books, I love them so much.

Without Harry Potter, I don't know what I'd do. People say some bad things about the series, but they actually do help people out. They provide interesting material for extra reading. Fanfiction came from it, and that inspires writers. Harry Potter is just so cool!

Wow, I've been reading everyone's replies, and it seems like everyone was bored with/hated/disliked HP at first. I guess everyone deserves a second (or third!) chance!

Um- i actually had alife and didn't spend my time rereadinf and rereading HP or on forumms all day long..

Before HP i just read like random books... i didn't have a specific series or author... but one book the is extremely good is the Westing Game

Before I got into HP, I was seriously obsessed with a lot of things. I'd go through phases on my obsessions. Foir instance, I was obsessive about Alan Rickman for a while, watched everything on video that he's been in that I could track down, and actually bought the unauthorized biography, but have I read it? Nooo. That's exactly when Harry Potter entered my life! I still adore AR beyond belief, but HP seems to have taken over. I still have other things that I obsess about, (Ewan MacGregor) that have been in my life for some time, and then there are new things (Kidrobot Azteka Dunnies) that have their run in my life, but soon fade into the background. I find it hard to believe I was so unaware of the HP world until the GoF book came out!

i think i was at that age where i was into stuff like those braclet/bangles that u slapped on your wrist and then it curled round haha!! does anyone else remember those?! I wasn't really into reading books really, and when my sister gave me the book, i read the first page, and then put it down and went back to my bangles!! Thank god she kept pestering me!!

My life before Harry Potter was bleak . I was kinda young so I was just staring to read bigger books. I liked that book called Little Women or something like that. Also, there was Anne of Green Gables.

Well I was in elementary school when I started to read Harry Potter books, I cant really remember any of the other stuff I used to read before that, probably just my schools text books I guess, cause I was too busy being a little kid and playing in the mud and stuff like that more than being interested in reading like I do now.

For me, I was really into Green Day, before that Busted. I get easily obsessed with bands.

what life?! lol I was really into hp in elementary school, and then i bounced to Lord of the Rings, and then CSI, and now im back where I belong!

I read Lord of the Rings and the Chronicles of Narnia when I was younger. I also read a lot of Micheal Crichton (the Jurassic Park guy). Lately I have started watching Star Trek on tv between classes (I am graduating with by BA in a few weeks). Still, Potter and VTM is what gets me through those boring hours at work in the computer lab.

Before I was into Harry POtter, I thought that HP was stupid and stuff and that there was no point in reading. I was really into Narnia and Lord of the Rings (and still am) but I never really had a huge obsession like I do with Harry Potter.
