just wondering how obsessed some people are about harry potter. please pick one, and tell me to what point. ex:
To the point where I nearly dream about Hogwarts, go on chatrooms/forums/main sites every single day, I can't help but to talk about Harry Potter to my friends and eventually driving them insane, my friends call me the almighty walking Harry Potter factbook, have article clippings of ANYTHING Harry Potter attached to my wall, I have a whole shrine in my closest dedicated to Harry Potter, etc.
My friends call me obsessed

and they tend to roll their eyes when i talk about Harry Potter. I go on this forum nearly everyday, read and write (eh, just one) fanfiction, read the books more than once, saw the movies multiple times, in love with one of the actors, etc.
hehe

As for me....well, let's just say I'm a bit too old to be obsessed with these stuff...
Not that I'm not, mind you! But...I kind of put on some control into it, just so I'm able to carry on with my life!!
I mean...I bought all books in the first week I start reading HP and PS, log in to this forum every single day, I have HP ringtone and pictures on my handphone, wallpaper and sound effect on my computer, I create lots of bookmark with my favourite HP quote on it, just so I won't be separated with my HP spirit when I go to my classes (I bet my lecturer won't be happy if she saw me reading the books instead of listening to her lecture...) and the last thing I read before I go sleep is HP books (I'm on reread phase)...
But I still have to study and do other stuff...(I have a test this Friday and still spend time writing in this forum!!!)
So...I kind of make a deal with myself...for example, if I study for three hours today, that's exactly how long I get to spend online...
If I finish my assignment, then I get spend all night online...yeah, stuff like that...

I go on all the websites and all of that...
but I can somehow connect *anything* to Harry Potter... it's really kind of sad.
My friend is just as bad, so I'm not *too* pathetic
severely_severus
Aug 24 2004, 03:42 PM
Mm... yeah, I was similar to that for Alan Rickman for a while lol. I can connect almost any movie to him for example lol, it's really quite funny.
I drive my friends insane talking about hp all the time, spend a lot of my day on forums, am working on a harry potter theory site (though I did get a little sidetracked working on a "dress up snape" game)... if a friend is talking about something, like mention the word chocolate lol...I can't help think that "it'll help, it will really help"... usually say that out loud too.
My best friend called me a freak yesterday like twelve times because I couldn't stop talking about hp and bugging her to go on these forums to see if anyone had responded to any of my posts.
I'm working to convince everyone I know to read HP, spend most of my day thinking about it and trying to connect things together to make theories on it... (that's been my passion for the last month or so)...
and yeah, lol. I think I might be a bit insane. but that's okay, I think. lol

Completely and utterly stark raving bonkers obsessed!!!! To the point where, when I started my new job yesterday and we all had to say a bit about ourselves, I actually admitted to a whole crowd of people that I love Harry Potter books....and I'm 27.....you can imagine the looks I had!!

But people still wanted to talk to me, so I guess that's okay!!!!
But yeah, HP ringtones, graphics, wallpapers, posters all over my walls (but very tastefully framed

), I even bought all the Lego PoA stuff and I have Sirius, Buckbeak, the Grim, and Harry all sat right on my computer now as I speak!!!
I've even got little post-its sticking out of important canon stuff in PS and CoS (I'm in the process of reading all the boks again)!!! But I write fanfic, and I like it to be as accurate as possible, so I guess I have
something of an excuse, albeit a

one!!!!

i am too obsessed, it may be unhealthy.
i have re-occuring dreams of hogwarts.
i have day dreams about attending hogwarts.
i truely believe that hogwarts is real.
i memorized the first film, and i think i've memorized the secong, but neither one on purpose.
i read the books over and over. and i cannot get enough of them.
my friends make fun of me, and also get very annoyed with me because i wont shut up.
there is ALWAYS one of the harry potter DVD's in my dvd player.
i google harry potter everyday.
i name people in the harry potter books, that even my other friend who likes harry potter does not know.
my bedroom wall is a harry potter shrine, that could be turned into a museum.
if i am in a store, my eyes are attracted to the special harry potter writing because i can find it in an instant.
i cut out EVERY picture or add or ANYTHING that is in a magazine/newpaper that has anything to do with harry potter.
i cried when my mum told me i couldnt buy anymore harry potter posters. also when she said i couldnt pre-order the 3rd DVD.
i dont let other people touch my harry potter shirt.
really, i think its a bit unhealthy.

I am so obsessed! I can also relate anything to Harry Potter, even when I'm at school trying to learn. I think about it all the time. I have several sites I check like every day. (this being one of them) I used to be embarrassed about it, but I don't care anymore. I'll tell anyone who listens how much I love Harry Potter.

whoever picked "i'm not obsessed, but i still love the series!" are in DENIAL. ADMIT IT! hahaha just kidding.
hmm you shouldnt be embarrassed about something you really really like. you have something to keep you happy and that's all that matters. i used to be embarrassed too lol.
i memorized the second film because i have the dvd. remind me to get the first one...lol.
i went bonkers today because my friend told me something that i never knew about. i started a topic about it in the lounge. something about aberforth dumbledore. i started yelling at him because i disagreed. hmmm i really should stop that before something bad might happen lol.

Aug 25 2004, 03:29 PM
Hey, dana_scully...I like the idea of that framed poster! Hmm...I think I know exactly which one I'm going to put it in...
yeah, you're right, doomed_renascence...why should we be embarrased over it?! It keeps us happy, isn't it?? yeah, that's what matters...
MimolaChuck
Aug 26 2004, 12:05 AM
oh, im not embarassed at all. i wear my harry potter shirt to the mall with pride. however, it does embarrass my friends! and they are like "doesnt it make you feel strange megan?
and i am like NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. because i treasure my shirt.
oh, harry potter, how i love thee

I'm obsessed with harry potter that i'm on the computer when ever i can going on harry potter websites! I have a lot of harry potter books including some that Jo didn't write called, So you think you know harry potter? and The magical world of harry potter. My friends think i'm harry potter mad!

Obsession: Compulsive, often anxious preoccupation with a fixed idea or unwanted emotion. That is the
exact word defining my relation w/ HP!! OMG, where to start.. I read every (and I do mean it), every single post in this topic just to see how obsessed the rest of you are!
Well, my friends and my sister make fun of me for being such an HP fanatic (I'm more than that I'll tell you).. I have loads of HP merchandise! Loads.. not kidding, too many to mention.. but like you all, I collect the posters & the like.. visit many HP related sites.. I log on to this forum
every day & get angry when I don't get the chance to.
Here's a funny story: On Valentine's Day I gave out HP Valentines cards.. there was one I really liked & thought hilarious.. it had Ron on the card and the message right next to him was 'I think you're WICKED'..hehe!! I think that's more Rupert Grint-like than Ron-like..or maybe..wait..correct me if I'm mistaken!

I am completely obssessed I think about Harry Potter at least once a day!!!! I need help......
Louise
Aug 28 2004, 08:10 AM
Only once a day??? Man, that's a mild case you have there...when you get up to the 10 times a day level...like me....

And you start getting jittery if you can't get to a computer to talk about HP with other people just as loopy as yourself....

Then you'll have something to worry about...**tee hee**

heh heh heh...yeah, I know!! I was in another meeting today at work and I managed to get at least two references to Harry Potter in!! I couldn't believe it!!! Not to mention that very often, my lectures are soooo interesting in uni that I sometimes start thinking...mmm....wouldn't it be nice if the lecturers looked more like Alan Rickman? Lol.....And when I went to my sister's graduation a couple of weeks ago, all the officials there were wearing Hogwarts-like robes and I started to think, yet again, of our (not so beloved) Snape!!! Oh deary me....Those men with the straight jackets are gonna be headin' my way any day now.......

I'd never really thought about it, but yup, I am really rather full of the obsession. I've read the whole series again twice this year, yet I claim I don't have time to read, anymore, I'm constatly trying to get my Ian to buy me HP merch, tring to get him to read it, making him watch the movies then quizzing him...I'm always HERE, aren't I?
And I have absolutely NO shame in saying to people I hardly know "well, I'm on this Harry Potter board on the internet, and...*
Eheheh...>.<

pffffft. kick them in the arse if they tease you! lol, just kidding. you shouldn't be ashamed. they should respect what you like! and it's not bad to think some other guy is hot because he's younger. you know, usher went out with that girl from tlc, but they were like ten years apart (the girl being older).

And besides, Harry Potter's just cool, regadless of whether one happens to fancy the actors in the movies or anything...*shrugs*

Well I'm not the "stalk JK" or "trying to fly on a broom" kind of obsessed, but I'm pretty obsessed. Every conversation I have with my family friends, etc. I always bring up Harry Potter. Even if we're talking about say...cleaning toilets. I always find some way to talk about HP...Yep. That's how obsessed I am.
