did anyone else think that there was very little Ron in the movie? I felt like he was hardly in it. But then again he is my favorite character and I can never get enough of him, but still.
Was I the only one who thought that he was not in the movie as much as he should have been?

Mmm. I'm not really sure how much of him there was really, all I know was that he was great whenever he was there. Most of his scenes and lines were really memorable, and while the scene where all the boys are making animal noises was kind of frivelous he also looked really hot as a lion lol. lmao. And hmm... lion... yeah.
BTW Lucius, congrats on making third year. I just looked at a post of yours a minute ago and you were second, just thought I'd say that.

And there was too much Hermione. they should have cut her lines down a bit, and ive Ron some spotlight.

Aug 26 2004, 12:25 AM
Yesh, I also felt that. Ron was awesome in PoA! There was supposed to be less Hermione, because she got mad at them in the book remember? I think everyone was important in PoA (book) so the parts should have been equal, although Harry would quite obviously get the most lines/parts.
W00T FOR MORE RON!!

I agree with most of you.. Ron was great in PoA! Rupert Grint did an excellent job... again.
Let's see, my favorite two scenes would be..
1.) The scene where Ron, Seamus, Neville, Harry are making the animal noises.. hehe, as mentioned up there by one of ya ^^. RAWR..lmao.
2.) When Ron wakes up abruptly and says.. "Sp- Spiders, they want me to tapdance... I don't wanna tapdance." or something like that.. it was hilarious!! Still laughing up till now when I think of those scenes..

Yeah, when I first saw that lion part I had to grab onto my friend Bellatrix for support. lol. She started laughing at me (or she would have if it hadn't been the 1st time we saw the movie and neither of us would tear our eyes from the gaint IMAX screen) anywho, Yeah, I love that scene. I still get all happy when I see it.
But I still wish there had been more of him in the movie and what was up with the scene where Harry goes back to return the crystal ball? Was it just me or did Dan look about ready to smack Rupert? Y'all remember the part, when Harry asked Ron to go with him to return the ball and Ron didn't wanna? I saw him give Ron a nasty look! (But then again, maybe that was just me)
Oh and Thanks you guys! I'm happy to be a 3rd year! Only like 100 or so more posts till 4th year! (but who's counting?)

It didnt even seem like Ron and Harry were that close either, like in the 1st movie. Though I will admit there wasnt that much Hermione in the 2nd. I dunno I thought there was too much of Hermione in the 3rd movie, mainly because i'm not an Emma fan, lol. But I understand thats how it had to be because of the book.

Neither am I. I don't like Emma and I don't really know why.
But I love Rupert Grint and still wish there had been more of him in the movie regardless of the book lol.

Maybe the director thought that the movie or book centered more around Harry and Hermione. Hermione gets Crookshanks, she has the time-turner. Harry is always the center of attention and this time it's because his "killer" is on the loose. Ron has Scabbers and I guess you don't really see him much.
Or, tCuaron (is that the right spelling? besides the accent mark) thought that Emma has better acting skills than Rupert.
LuciusMalfoy
Sep 9 2004, 03:47 AM
No no no. Rupert is the best actor out of the trio. Trust me he is. There is no way that the dircetor thought it was because Emma was th better actor. I think it's probably because of what you said: Hermione has the timeturner and Crookshanks (Although we hardly saw the cat either).
Lynn
Sep 15 2004, 07:40 PM
I think Emma is a good actrice, but Rupert is great too and we see him not enough in PoA. Hermione has gotten sentences that were sentences from Ron or Harry in the book. Like: If you want too kill Harr, you have to kill us too!
Ron should say that
LuciusMalfoy
Sep 15 2004, 09:47 PM
Yeah, I got mad at that part. I was all "NO! That's Ron's line! NO!" He would have been so cute too, having to hop in front of Harry and all. Oh, well, stupid script writer.

Sep 17 2004, 02:09 PM
'No! I trusted you! And all the time, you've been his friend!'
Harry's line, tadaaaaaaaaaaa!!!
what are they thinking???? Hermione isn't the main character..
LuciusMalfoy
Sep 17 2004, 05:08 PM
Yeah, they give Hermione alot of the lines, and Rupert is the best actor out of the trio and he gets less lines than any of them. I swear what are these movie people on?
Lynn
Sep 17 2004, 07:47 PM
and what would they do with GoF? maybe they don't take Diggory 4 champ, they just take hermione. pffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffff

I interpreted it as Hermione trusted him despite the fact that she had figured out him to be a werewolf.
Meh. Honestly I don't care anymore. They want to hand over all of the lines to Emma and let her steal the show, so be it. I'll stick with the books.

Sep 18 2004, 12:50 AM
we should protest against that!! jajaja
how can they give this important line to Hermione?.... what's up with them, I mean this was the big line of Ron, how dare they!

adn then hermione comes and stole that part!, that's not good!!

It makes me angry sometimes but over all I know what really happens and the books are so much better than the movies anyway. So, I'm with eedoe on this: I'll just stick to the books.
Lynn
Sep 18 2004, 07:34 AM
the books aren't allways better. I mean, the part were Buckbeak 'died'
it was sooooooooooo sweet and much better than the book. But that's just what I think.

They don't always make wrong decisions in the films though...personally, I felt that the lines they gave Gary at the end, about those we love never truly leaving us, fitted much better with Sirius than they did with Dumbldore. It increased the connection between Sirius and Harry far more, brought a very touching tenderness out of Sirius' character that I'm not quite sure was there in the book.....
I personally felt that there was a much stronger connection between Lupin and Harry in the book than there was to Sirius....
Lynn
Sep 18 2004, 06:06 PM
I totally agree.
eedoe
Sep 20 2004, 03:57 PM
But the movies advanced the plot of attraction between Ron and Hermione that wasn't yet in the books. That is the reason for the tenderness, if they had maintained the line of Rowling it would have been completely out of place. (which it was anyhow)
Also, those lines handed to Gary had to be put there to better explain what was beginning to develope between Sirius and Harry which up until that point wasn't conveyed in the movie. They were forced with time constraints and hacking up the book.
Also, from the books stand point, most of it was spend with Harry under the belief that Sirius betrayed and murdered his parents. Of course there wouldn't be as close a bonding between Harry and Sirius as Harry and Lupin. It wasn't until the end that the truth was revealed, not much time for there to become some sort of great bond between the two.

Sep 20 2004, 04:43 PM
I wish they'd kept the part where Harry said he'd love to live with Sirius and like could he move in right away and all that and Sirius was shocked and happy and all that. In the movie they cut him off before he could say that.
But I liked the scenes between Sirius and Harry otherwise. And Lupn.

Hermione doesn't bother me, but Emma does. I don't know why, but I don't like her that much.
Ron and Rupert I love. Dan's cool and of course I love Harry.
But yeah...there should have been more Ron in the movie.

why is everyone annoyed by emma o hermione LOL
Personally, I think hermione is a funny part and emma is a good actrice. Ginny annoys me. Strange, someone can annoy you, and you dunno why..

Woah, lot of negtivetly. I'm not to brother by the fact that Ron wasn't in the movie as much as some would like because he wasn't in the book as much either. Hermione wasn't in the 2nd one to much, there was a lot of Ron and Harry. It's just swithed is all. In the 4th and 5th book it's pretty much equal. And I think Emma is amasing as Hermione, and is in no way not just as good as Rupert and Dan. I think that Emma is very talented.

Oct 6 2004, 05:51 PM
I'm just saying that he wasn't in the movie all that much, and I hadn't even noticed that there wasn't that much Hermione in the 2nd film. I don't know why I don't like Emma all that much, I just don't. She gets on my nerves. I'm not trying to be mean or anything, and I think she's a food actress and she plays Hermione alright, but I just don't like her for some reason.
Amyrat151
Oct 6 2004, 08:20 PM
I was annoyed when Hermione wasn't in the 2nd movie very much, but as soon as I saw PoA I got over that. It's just balnced out. But I like all three characters and actors equally, expect I like Hermione a bit more. But I don't like Emma any more than Dan and Rupert.

I felt that there was enuff Ron for me to see. As I am a huge fan of Ron. He did me proud! I didn't think he was left out much. Now I bet when I get the movie, I'm gonna agree with you guys on a-little-ron in the movie...thanks alot guys
The part when he was goofing around (the lion's roar)...I didn't like that part! Although, he was adorable! But, the part when he was at Hagrid's first lesson was my favorite! He looked so so handsome in his uniform....

Oct 14 2004, 06:48 PM
I loved every part that had Ron in it: I was either laughing or gushing over him. I love the roaring part, becuase he looked so cute, and I liked the Buckbeak scene too--when he pushed Harry was great--I also like the part where they came back into the hospital wing and he was all, "but you guys just...and now...what?" (Or something along those lines) He was so cute at that part too. I love Rupert, but not as much as I love the actual character of Ron.
Amyrat151
Oct 14 2004, 09:12 PM
I loved that part where Ron roared. It makes me think how they're just boys, even though they go though all this crap, they'll still just kids.

I personally like Emma Watson. I think she's a great Hermione. But I did notice that Ron was barely in the movie. My friend was saying that they should have called the third movie Hermione Granger and the Prisoner of Azkaban. lol. The script-writer is just so Hermione happy! He gives her other people's best lines all the time. The one that REALLY bugged me was the "If you want to kill Harry, you have to kill us too!". I think that the thing about it that irked me so much was that it really showed how loyal Ron is to Harry, and even though we know that, Ron doesn't usually openly state it. But I have no problem with Emma Watson or her character. It's just something that bothered me.

Oct 15 2004, 04:10 AM
I am so annoyed by that too! ...possibly though since there was more Ron in the last move *cough cough( in an umbridge like tone)* since Hermione was petrified for like half the movie i guess they wanted to giver her more lines...but they were really dumb when giving her Ron's most bravest bestest line in thewhole story !!! I COULDN'T BELIEVE THEY WOULD DO SUCH A THIING! To lower themselves to that kind of level....that would be changing the story wouldn't it? Anyways...Ron is a great character and there needs to be no line stealers on the set... anymore!!

Oct 16 2004, 03:31 AM
What:huh:
i know there was a little ron but remember in the CoS there wasnt a lot of hermione so you all should not be complaining.
Kreacher
Oct 17 2004, 12:07 AM
We're not complaining. We're just stating that Ron didn't have many lines in POA. Being petrified through most of COS didn't stop Hermione from having a lot of lines in that movie. And this isn't the first time Hermione's been given some of Ron's lines. They did it in COS also. And even when he was on screen in POA he didn't speak much, he was just kinda there while Hermione did most of the talking (though his lines were very funny, as usual). And I like Hermione and Emma Watson. I just think that she has enough lines as it is...
Amyrat151
Oct 20 2004, 12:22 AM
Let just hope it's evened out it GoF, and they have more equal lines. We just have to look to the future. I really like Emma as Hermione, so I was happy when she got lines, but annoyed about the lack of lines of Ron.
Kreacher
Oct 20 2004, 01:04 AM
Same with me. I hope they have more of a balance in GOF because they're both great actors.
brkn promises x
Oct 20 2004, 08:33 PM
yea i would have to agree, there wasnt a lot of ron. i also think they they cut a lot out of the movie. i really liked the movie, but i think it could have been better.
LuciusMalfoy
Oct 20 2004, 08:34 PM
I'm not really an Emma fan, so she already annoys me to start off with and then she gets all of Ron's lines. Like in CoS where she actually knew what a Mudblood was?! That didn't even make since. Mudblood wouldn't be a book since it's slang and a bad word and she's a muggleborn. I just don't like that in the movie, eh, anyway....
But yes, it's true that Hermione was barely in the 2nd movie and all that, but like someone said above "even when Ron was in the scene he was just there..." So true!

woah, calm down up there! there wasnt enough of him because the movie was soo short! grr..
Amyrat151
Oct 30 2004, 03:28 PM
I didn't think it was short, after wacthing CoS again, it's like "where's Hermione?" she's frozen for 45 mintues of the movie, and other than brewing the ployjucie potion, she's pretty much just there. So look at it, in a way of balnace.
