My vote goes to Dumbledore. He is amazing. I am in awe of his power just like Harry was when they were in the cave together. I sure hope is not gone forever

. But as they story progresses, Snape is making quite a case of his own. He invented spells when he was Harry's age. Once we find out what side he is on for good, I guess we will know. But, I am still Dumbledore's man through and through.

Goodness gracious! Snape? No, I understand that. He is quite sneaky.

Voldemort is too full of himself. Dumbledore is that sweet grandfather that always gives you candy when your parents aren't looking! He is not dead. Just wait everyone, he will come back in the seventh book. Just keep waiting...Hey! What about Harry? He may be more powerful. If (I am only saying if) Dumbledore did die (which he most certainly did not), he died from Avada Kedavra. Harry didn't! That makes Harry better, even though he doesn't always have candy in his pocket! There's my opinion! Awesome poll!

Yeah I almost put Harry in there. But the main 2 are Lord Voldemort and Dumbledore. I heard a few people talking about Snape sneaking up on us with his power, so I decided to throw him in there as well.

I really, really don't have to think about this. Hands down, it's Dumbledore! He is wise, patient, daring, brave, noble, intelligent, persistent, fair, and truly funny, wonderfully strange and remarkable. He's "The only one Voldemort ever feared, "and that is quite something. I can't think of a more admirable wizard besides Harry.

wow, im surprised! i am the only one who votes voldemort! even though dumbledore is (or, i guess now, was) an extremely smart and intellegent man, and probably did have more power than voldemort, was, as prof. mcgonagall said, "too noble to use them". So therefore, with what we have seen, voldemort is a much more powerful man (if you can call him that, missing 6/7 of his soul) by the power we have seen and they have shown. and besides, looks like in head to head competition, voldemort came out on top,eh? that is, supossing that snape is really evil and dumbledore is really dead, both of which i believe to be totally true, but thats another story

I went for Voldemort, firstly Snape is his servant so i didn't vote for him. Dumbledore was killed by Snape and therefore though he is a comforting force and a great leader, he is not as powerfully evil as Lord Voldemort!

Dumbledore; no questions asked. He was truly the most powerful wizard in the entire wizarding world, he just had one weakness; that weakness being his love for Harry and his desire to look at the good in people; to trust people.
I'm not sure how I feel about the whole Snape killing Dumbledore situation, but there is no doubt in my mind that that does not make Snape a more powerful wizard. Dumbledore didn't attack even though I'm absolutely certain if he wanted to, he could have taken Malfoys wand and done away with all the Death Eaters at once. I think he chose to die because he felt it was his time, and possibly because he wanted Harry to go on without him. I highly, highly doubt his death was due to the fact that he was "outsmarted".
I also do not think he's comparable to Voldemort. Voldemort himself fears him and I think that says everything right there. Voldemort is terribly powerful and without a doubt evil, but I think he's a very troubled character that overlooks a lot due to his obsession with the dark arts and his obsession with immortality. That weakness of his makes him not as powerful as he could be.

well this is an easy one, dd of course! not only is his power way beyond like magnificent, but he didn't steal others or use it weirdly or anythin he learned all of his power properly and he used it for good so dd!

I think that DD is the most powerful wizard although he does have his weaknesses. LV is also immensly powerful but he too has weaknesses. However, I voted for DD because he was the only one that LV ever feared which would make him more powerful than LV.

I voted Snape...because he could overcome both Voldy and DD so i thought he is for now.
Of course DD is the most owerful but he was killed by Snape so not anymore..
Voldemort is definitely NOT the most powerful because he was nearly killed by a small boy when the boy was like a baby!!

There is no doubt about who I voted for!I definitely chose DD as he is an amazing wizard and we are all going to miss him in the final book...

I mean, yeah sure, voldy is pretty good but no one can beat DD not only was he powerful and reall skilled but he was also very sensitive to others and looked out for everyones best interests...

i think the most powerfull is voldemort. so maby i sound like a death eater sue me. my first reason: voldemort has gone farther than anyone on the road to invincability. he made not one but seven horcruxs.
my second: almost everyone in the wizarding community fears him.
he is not weak because harry almost killed him. harry is lucky most of the time.

lol...Dumbledore is a very wise man and very powerful too but the only problem with him is that he trusts too many people. But he is the wisest man of all..except that a so-called Snape person managed to fool him and earned his trust too easily.
Yes Voldemort is powerful too and he was since he was a child as we all know. Even if Harry is lucky, the point is he managed to overcome a powerful wizard named Voldemort!!! I agree though, that Voldy has gone furthest in immortality and seriously ALL three wizards are powerful!
Dumbledore cannot be fooled easily so maybe theres something behind his death..and Snape is clever and powerful and lastly, Voldy is just VERY powerfull...too powerful for words just like the rest

Snape: No, he's really strong and HBP Harry stood absolutely no chance against him. But he's not as strong as Dumbledore or Voldemort.
Dumbledore: He was beating Voldemort when they fought in OOTP and was the only one Voldemort ever feared. I originally voted for him.
Voldemort: He is the strongest. Although I originally voted for Dumbledore, Voldemort was almost even with him in OOTP. But Voldemort is, as of now, emmortial, so he's stronger.

I'm stuck between Lord Voldemort and Dumbledore! I know i should go with Dumbledore but Lord Voldemort has so much power as well but experience he has yet to gain which Dumbledore already had. Plus, Voldemort uses the dark arts which are fairly power full and it takes extreme power to master them so easily like Voldemort has whih adds up. Snape?! What is he doing there?! I mean he is powerful but no where near the emense power of Dumbledore and Voldemort!
I voted for Dumbledore but i doubt it now after thinking it through and feel it is Voldemort
P.S. Please do not come to my house with an axe as before experience of typing down this answer before almost killed me

I think Dumbledore, because he defeated Grindleward (Although Grindelward was "not considered a Dark Lord, since the last Dark Lord prior to Voldemort was defeated 100 years before him) but appears to have been powerful since as it was worth mentioning on the frog cards and LV feared him.
I think that DD knew about snape and was therefore not 'conned' by his occulemency skills - like LV apparently has been.
Even though LV has managed to become 'immortal' it has meant sacrificing his soul - this can only make a person significantly weaker in my opinion. Besides those different parts of his soul (ok the diary) but other times too (quirrels head etc) LV has been beaten (or at least foiled) by a 11-16 year old boy (though admittedly that boy happens to be the chosen one

)
well thats my two pence worth

I think that Snape is the most powerful wiard now because he is both i with the Death Eaters and the Order of the Phoenix. Voldemort is the best legilimens ever, so only the best Occlumens and Legilimens could let him lie to the Dark Lord. Also, he has created tons of spells that have been used by tons of people including Harry's dad and Harry himself. He has the mercy of both the Death Eaters and the Order, the two most knowledgable fighters in the wiarding world more so than the ministry.

it's difficult!
but i finally decided to vote for DD, as i agree with McGonagall, and think that he is too noble to use some of the magic there is, - he could do it though!
i think he is VERY powerful, but he doesn't show it, like LV, he doesn't need everyone's attention and admiration of some people... i hope we will learn more about DD in book 7...then we will also know how powerful he really is!
in the cave in HBP he showed what really powerful magic is! he senses, he feels magic! it's fascinating!
i think LV is just a step below DD... he can't love. some might think DD trusts too easy, i don't think so. i think he has his mistakes and stuff, but not as many as LV.
LV is evil, gruel, he wants power and needs other's admiration, he want's to be immortal. i think THAT doesn't show that he is powerful, to me it says, "hey this guy has to learn VERY much!" but he never will
i also think snape is powerful, but i don't think he can overcome DD!
got harry?

Dumbledore of course!
He is wise and noble and knows how to use his magic!

I chose Dumbledore because he's been around for a longgggg time and he know's what he's doing. Dumbledore is the only wizard that Voldemort is afraid of too, which means that old Voldy knows he has some serious power.

Dumbledore. He has a great knowledge. And also we have seen what he can do, in the cave for example. Also we were told that during his NEWTS he had done thing that Proffesor Marchbanks had never seen before. Plus Voldemort is afraid of him. Snape doesn't have a chance.

Jul 13 2006, 03:26 AM
DD of course. He has shown time and time again just how powerful he is. And come now, if Voldy is all that then he wouldn't fear DD now would he.
Snape comes in a close second though. In response to what one person said "I went for Voldemort, firstly Snape is his servant", I would have to say that Snape is his servant by choice and circumstance. Whether Snape is good or bad I don't think that he would be anyone's servant if he didn't chose to be. He would find a way to turn things to his advantage and regrardless of what people may think of him being good or bad, he is showing more and more that he is darn powerful. I don't think Voldy would be able to force Snape to do anything if Snape didn't want to.
Lastly both Snape and DD are mere mortals and fight their fights as such and do not cower behind using horocruxes and other such things. Voldemort in a way admits his own weakness in using those because he knows that without them he can be destroyed.

Dumbledore, not a doubt in my mind.
From the way it looks, Snape is bad. And it looks like he killed Dumbledore. This isn't known for certain, all we know is that Dumbledore is dead. Little more.
So Snape outsmarted Dumbledore. Big deal. That is the way it looks, so I will say that is what it is...for now. Knowledge is power. It is a famous and unbelievably true quote. Power is also have people on your side. And Power can also be described as magical ability.
Dumbledore is a genius in his mind, he has the majority of the Wizarding World on his side and stuff, and he can "do things with wands" that would make your head turn. He is amazing.
Snape is good at the Dark Arts and Potions; he has undoubtedly learned various other skills, such as herbology, charms, and healing. He is a very very smart man. Smarter than Dumbledore? I doubt it. He has next to zero people under his "control". In fact, he is the person who is under control -- a servant of Voldemort, he is. So that is one third of the definition of "Power" gone. So Snape is gone. Dumbledore beats him out easily.
Voldemort...I don't know. He certainly is very skilled. Perhaps even with Dumbledore. He is also very very wise. His use of Legilimenc for years has made him a formidable opponent in human activity. Finally, he also has a great chunk of the wizarding world on his side. I'd estimate an average a 1/5 to 1/4 of the Wizarding World as a whole. Very powerful.
But if you look over this information, I still think Dumbledore is the victor. Not by much over Voldemort, in some categories, but I certainly think he is the more knowledgebale and popular

I believe that snape is the strongest wizard.I believe that Dumbeldore was the most powerful at his peak, but I do not think that he was as powerful a few years before he died, and i never really knew that much about dumbolores power, only that he was the most powerful wizard. I believe that Voldermort became stronger then Dumbledore, this was shown when Voldy almost killed Dumbledore in the ministry. I also think that that Snape has a lot of power that we never knew about. He must be a very strong wizard to block Dumbledores mind who most of you belive is the strongest wizard, and to create all those spells he must even be smarter then Tom Riddle was supposed to be. Snape is the most powerful. [color=#33CC00]

Dumbledore for sure!!! I mean LV is a pretty powerful wizard, but he also fears DD. There's good reason. DD is the one person that could easily bring LV down. No doubt though that Snape is right up there with DD and LV, but he's just not as powerful as DD.

I think dumbledore is the most powerful. We really do not know much about Dumbledore's childhood and family. Even Mcgonnagle - we do not know here family either. DUmbledore could have learned much from his family as he was growing up and probably knows how to do Dark Magic as well as Good Magic. He just chooses not to do it. I am sure he has studied it and is probably as good as it as LV but like he said in chamber - it is not your knowledge that makes you stronger but your choices. He chooses not to use it but if he wanted to he could. Just my thought! Snape just rides the fence - Snape is for Snape and no one else.

Lets put this in perspective, there are many different things that both Dumbledore and Voldemort used to beleive they were the most powerful. I for one think that Dumbledore was the most powerful ever i mean just look at the wisdom he possesses. Ok so you say that Voldemort went futher than any wizard down the path of immortalty. And that in itself takes some great skill. Great but dont you think that if Dumbledore wanted too he could have. But as i have said i think the greatest power is Wisdom when it comes to something like that. And Voldemort just doesn't think some things through!
